Chapter 2

"So I guess you like Allen." Cerena remarked while brushing Dena's hair. "Well, I…" Dena began. "C'mon you can tell me, I won't say a word I promise." Cerena said to her looking at her in the mirror. Then she continued to brush her hair. Dena didn't say a word. "Oh so I guess you stayed to look at Allen because you 'felt like it'" Cerena said rolling her eyes. "No." Dena said looking down. "Is it because you think he's a moron?" Cerena asked. "No!" Dena said giving her a look. Cerena paused for a moment. "I was just asking sheesh!" Cerena said laughing, "You must like him…" "I barely know him!" Dena suddenly remarked. She got up from her chair and stood on the bed nearby. "It was like one moment my world was coming to an end with the stupid mole man and then he came out of nowhere and changed that and he was so gentle and kind to me I don't know maybe I do love him but so what like his men said I'm only good enough for the mole man!" Dena sighed out of breath and fell down on her back. Cerena was just looking at her like she was crazy. "Oh…" Cerena said, "I guess..that's a yes…yes you do like him…" "YES!" Dena said getting up. She quickly grabbed Cerena and began to dance with her. "It was like a thousand angels had come to rescue me!" Cerena began to laugh. "Go on go on!" she said eager to continue to listen to Dena. "But it was only one," she said dancing across the room, "just one!" She stopped and looked at Cerena, "Allen! I saw him earlier while I was on the mystic moon too. I thought he was fake but he is real! Oh my god!" Cerena laughed for a long while with Dena after she said that. Dena fell back on the bed and said, "All and all though, he is one of the most sweetest guys I've ever met." "Indeed," Cerena said smiling at Dena, "Indeed."

Meanwhile downstairs, Allen is pacing back and forth seeming like he is waiting for something, or someone. Suddenly a flying boy of about sixteen years of age came flying in. "Oh finally Van! You're back!" Allen said. "Yeah of course he's back!" Merle said following close behind Van. Van looked at Allen, then at Merle, and then at the ground. "Van it's not my fault you're depressed," Allen began, "you put this upon yourself." "I DON'T CARE HOW I BECAME THIS WAY!" Van shouted startling both Merle and Allen. "C'mon Van! Cheer up, you'll get over it!" Merle said. "No I won't!" he said banging the wall. "What's going on?" a voice said coming down the stairs. It was Cerena, with Dena following close behind. "Nothing." Van said calmly, walking away. "It doesn't seem like nothing to me." Dena said looking straight at Van. Van turned around and looked at Dena. Then he saw the necklace Dena was wearing. Dena had put on her pendant after she had changed into her nightgown for good luck. "Where…where did you get that necklace?!" Van said in shock. "Oh I found it today." Dena began. "Give it to me." Van said in a demanding tone. "Why? I found it first!" Dena said getting a little upset. "Then I WILL KILL YOU FOR IT!" Van said running up to her in rage with his sword. Dena screamed in panic. Allen quickly got in front of her and blocked him from hurting her. Allen then punched Van very hard on the right cheek. "Hey leave him alone!" Merle said angrily. Allen ignored Merle and said to Van, "Why would you want to kill her? She knows nothing of your pain Van Fanel! Don't get so enraged like a fool!"

Van looked at Dena angrily still in pain because of his cheek. "Maybe I won't kill you here," Van began, "I'll kill you one night when you are sleeping…" "No you wont." Allen said grabbing Van, "Touch her, and I will kill you…" Then Dena had had enough. She walked near Van and said, "All right, if you want your necklace back so much, here it is." She threw the pendant hard at Van's chest. "Thanks." Van said putting it on, giving Dena an angered look. "Yeah thanks!" Merle said sarcastically to Dena making a face. Dena gasped a little and then looked at Cerena. "She's always like this." Cerena said annoyed. "I can tell." Dena said looking back at Merle.

"Well c'mon Dena we have to get to sleep." Cerena said motioning her to follow her. "We're going to Freid to meet Prince Chide tomorrow." "Freid?" Dena asked walking up with Cerena. "Oh I'll tell you all about it when we get upstairs…" Allen, now knowing all was calm, went to his bedroom to get to sleep.

A few hours later Allen had a very strange dream, which made him toss and turn, over and over again. In his dream, he sees his beloved Marlene in the big city of Asturia. " I'm so glad to be with you again Princess…." He said, "I have to go Allen, I can't turn back." she said, "What do you mean? You can run off with me! Stay princess." "I…can't…" Suddenly a carriage appeared. "Goodbye Allen, I love you." She got in the carriage and rode off. Allen then got down on his knees and shouted, "You've just came back to me and now you're gone!" he began to cry bitterly on the ground. He looked up to the sky and looked at all the clouds. Suddenly he was in a black place. He could only see a bunch of strange looking figures out in the distance. After a while he recognized the figures as these death spirits. He was suddenly stuck to something, it felt like a wall. He didn't know what to do. Suddenly he heard a voice, "Don't hurt him! He has done nothing wrong!" There were two flashes of light and from them came two wings. He soon could make out a figure in the dark. It looked like a woman's figure. "Marlene?" he asked. Then he woke up.

"What? Where?" he said looking around him. "I guess it was just a dream…" he sighed and went back to sleep.

Dena also had a dream the exact same time as Allen. In her dream she woke up to her ex-boyfriend Jeremiah. He looked the same way he did a year ago. "Jeremy?" she asked "Oh good you're awake." He said giving her a kiss on the forehead. "How long was I asleep?" Dena asked. "Oh it doesn't matter Dena, as long as I'm here with you…" "Yeah…." Dena sighed. And then she woke up. Dena looked around for a moment in her room. She saw Cerena sleeping on the floor (Cerena let Dena sleep in her bed.) and Dena's clothes on the floor near the door. She sighed and then looked right out the window. She could see a million stars that night and of course her home, the "Mystic Moon". She sighed, wondering if she could ever get home, and did she even want to?

SuddenlyDena heard someone walking on the top of the ship. "I wonder who that could be?" Dena thought. After a brief moment she, being a very curious individual, decided to go see who or what it was on top of the ship.

She quietly climbed out the window so she could get to the top of the roof faster. She looked down and then backed up. "Shouldn't have looked down…" Dena thought to herself. She then knew it was now or never so carefully she walked across the wing of the Crusade until she noticed a latter leading up to the roof. "Perfect." Dena said. She grabbed the latter and quickly climbed up. When she got to the top she saw Allen. She noticed Allen looked a little concerned about something. "I wonder why he looks so worried and confused?" Dena thought to herself. She knew she just couldn't just stand there on the latter all night guessing what he was sad about so she decided to talk to him.

First though she had to give herself a brief pep talk. She climbed down the latter a little and began to whisper to herself, "Okay, all you have to do is say hi, act perfectly normal. He's just another guy…well actually another guy that's like one of the hottest.." She paused for a minute, "All right all right. I'm going to try my best. God I hope he doesn't think I'm annoying." She climbed back up the latter. She saw Allen again. "Here goes nothing.." Dena thought. She took a deep breath and was on the top of the Crusade ship. She walked over to Allen quietly so he wouldn't hear her. Her heart was pounding so loudly she thought she was going to faint, but then she took all of the courage she had and sweetly said, "Hi."

Allen turned around and realized it was Dena. "Oh, hello." Allen said a little surprised. "I'm sorry for just popping out of nowhere," Dena said blushing, "I just heard you coming up here so…" "It's all right," Allen said, " I don't mind company." Then he began to look distressed again about something. Dena was a little more comfortable so she walked up to Allen and sat down next to him. She really wanted to know why he was so depressed so she said with a gentle yet concerned tone, "Something seems to be troubling you Allen…" "Don't worry about it," Allen said smiling a little to Dena, "It's nothing." "Well he says there is nothing wrong, but I'm sure something is" Dena thought, "I better not nag him though or he'll get mad at me." Dena sighed a little and lied down on her back looking at the stars and the Mystic Moon again. She began to wonder why she was here. Was it because of the pendant she found? Or maybe this is what they called destiny?

"Dena?" Allen said. Dena came back to Earth(or should I say Gaea?) "Oh….yes Allen?" Dena asked coming out of her trance. "What are you thinking about?" Allen asked. "Oh a lot of things.." Dena began, sitting up, "Like how I got here, why I'm even here, and if I even want to go back to the Mystic Moon…" She began to choke up a little so she was quiet. After a moment Allen asked concerned, "Why would you not want to go back to your home?" There was another pause for a moment. Dena thought for a long time about that question. Why didn't she want to go home?

It was a long moment before Dena said, "To tell you the truth Allen, I don't know." Dena said, "I just feel, I feel like I belong here…" "What do you mean by belong?" Allen asked gently. "Instinct, guts, whatever the hell it is, all I know is I feel happier here. Of course I have my kind and loving mom and all my wonderful friends…but here I just feel normal…even though I did have friends and I even had a boyfriend for a while…I still felt like an outcast…ever since I can remember people have been telling me I'm ugly, a retard, a freak, mostly insults to the way I look and act…Jeremiah made me so much happier…" "Who is Jeremiah?" Allen asked. "My ex-boyfriend," Dena replied, "it's not like he's a bad person…he just has issues to deal with…" Dena had tears fill up her eyes. Then she continued with her voice shaking, "I loved him so much it wasn't even funny. Then one day he became this..this monster…he slaps me, calls me a bitch…he does everything his father and all of his friends did to him…he just took it out on me…I feel so stupid and ugly and disgusting!" Dena put her head into her knees and began to cry a little. She tried not to cry too much so she wouldn't annoy Allen.

Allen scooted over closer to Dena and gently lifted her face towards his shoulder. Dena, who couldn't hold it in any longer, grabbed Allen and began to let all of her crying out. She shook as she cried bitterly on his shoulder. She just had all of this pain, all of these bad things. Allen began to brush through her hair. It felt so soft to him, especially with his gloves off now. Then he began to gently rub her back. While rubbing her back he felt two little bumps. He figured he was just imaging things and continued to gently rub her. Dena loved the way he rubbed her back. She had never felt that kind of touch from anyone, not even Jeremiah. "Dena, I don't care how much you love him," Allen whispered to her, "If you feel like you are being hurt by him, don't love him. He doesn't deserve it." After Allen said that, Dena began to feel a little better. After about 5 minutes she let go of Allen and looked into his eyes. There they were still, his comforting, kind, deep blue eyes that gave her a peace of mind when she looked into them. Right then and there Dena had a dying urge to kiss at least one of his beautiful eyes. But she knew that she could never win him over like that...and she knew it would be a bit odd to kiss his eye…after all she did just meet him. Instead she got up and then said, "Good night Allen."

"Good night Dena." He said after she climbed down the latter. Then he began to look at the stars just like Dena was. "Why does she remind me so much of her…"

Meanwhile, far from the Crusade ship, a large fortress was getting the last few touches being put on it in a large open field and an experiment was going on within a dark, broken down dungeon guarded by a cat girl, owned by the sorcerer, named Opalina. A boy, about Dena's age, was propped up on a wall unconscious while the evil sorcerer and an evil emperor were making sure everything they did to him was done and done well. The sorcerer's name was Wielimer, who had a striking resemblance to Folken except he looked more feminine and charming. The emperor was actually a former lord of Asturia named Diamenn. Now he was going to be the emperor of Zaibach. His dream, ever since the Zaibach Empire died down a year ago, was to resurrect the empire because he believed it was so powerful and amazing. He left Asturia, stripping himself of his honor and many other things. He met Wielimer on the way to only God knows where. Wielimer had the same interests as him, especially the Zaibach resurrection so they became good friends.

They began to capture people from wherever they could find them, they found mostly women who were lost in the field nearby their headquarters and a few men who wanted to resurrect the Zaibach Empire. They brainwashed the women and men completely of their memories and made them into cold-hearted warriors who enjoyed the shedding of blood. They were about to do the same to this boy. They found this boy under a blue ray of light uncoicnoius along with another girl. They told Opalina to toss her a deep forest near Asturia. Opalina, being very obedient to them, did as she was told. She just arrived back to the headquarters today to guard the dungeon.

Anyway, after they were all done brainwashing him and put on a black crown on his head the emperor said, "Well done Wielimer! You are a genius at these kinds of things!" "Yes emperor," Wielimer replied, "but let me give him the final thing." He put his two hands together and united them. "Your name is Jaquan and you are the leader of the Zaibach army. Your mission is bring millions into the Zaibach army so we can take over the world." He cracked his fingers, used his two pointer fingers to go over the shape of his eyes and snapped his left hand. The boy was awakened.

"Well Jaquan, we are so glad you have awakened." The sorcerer said with an evil look in his eyes. Jaquan smiled evilly back and said, "Haven't slept better, and now I am ready to fulfill my mission. Where is my army?" the emperor snapped his both hands and clapped 3 times. Soon a line of people was marching in a line towards Jaquan. There were 3 women and 2 men. One woman was named Cebria. She had long aqua green hair, aqua green eyes, and a most feminine body shape. The other women were Opalina and a 10-year-old girl named Chantra, who looked like (thanks to the experiments) she was at least 16. The two men were the most serious ones in the army. Yhukon was a warrior dedicated to killing whoever got it the way of Zaibach. He had Short black hair and wore all black, all the time. The other man, Dalmacius, was a sort of stout fellow, with spiked blonde hair and blue eyes. He wasn't as serious as Yhukon was about fighting, but he was second in command of the entire army.

"This is just the beginning," the emperor said, "Soon we will have thousands, possibly millions in our army. We will resurrect! And as soon as we do, we will take over all of Gaea!" Everyone cheered. "And Jaquan will lead you all to the top!" Wielimer added. Everyone looked at Jaquan for a moment. He seemed a little young, because most of them were already 17. But they all agreed and nodded. Opalina walked over to Wielimer and hugged him from behind and then licked him. "Don't worry, if they don't listen to Jaquan I'll make sure they do." "Ahh yes Opalina I'm sure you will." He said petting her head.

After a brief moment, Dalmacius walked over to Jaquan and said, "It will be an honor working for you in Second in Command!" "Yes it will." Jaquan said giving an evil smile to Dalmacius. Yhukon went over and bowed down to the emperor and the sorcerer. Then he bowed down to Jaquan and said, "I'll attack whoever you want me to, and it's my duty as a warrior of Zaibach." "Good." Jaquan said. Chantra and Cebria walked over to Jaquan and said, " We will follow wherever you go" and they bowed to him.

They were told that they had to wait until the floating fortress was finished so they could begin, but deep in their hearts, they knew their mission had just begun.
