The Ways of the Man Whore
News
Van couldn't believe it. He had resorted to the lowest of the low. If his father were alive he would have been so ashamed of his son even though his father had been like him at one time. But Van knew that it was the only way he could pay to go to college (University).
Van was a clever young man but unfortunately his family was poor actually Van didn't have a family anymore. His father died when he was really young and his mother died a year later to grief of loosing her husband and his brother, Folken had died to AIDS. Van was determined not to follow through in Folken's path but Van had no choice. If he didn't do what he did then he could never pay for the tuition to college and therefore return to the cycle that destroyed his family. The tuition was expensive and doing what he did was the only fast and easy way to pay for his tuition.
Nowadays Van had a new Family. Merle she was a prostitute. She was annoying at times but what could he do. He had no one else. The other members were
Dryden he was a pimp. He set Van and Merle up with clients and then there was Millerna, she was a prostitute too but she mainly seemed to be Dryden's prostitute. And last but not least Allen. Allen was his landlord and he was pretty sure that Allen was gay.
He knew Allen liked to screw girls but he was sure that Allen had checked Dryden and him out.
Van sat by the window ledge. His apartment wasn't glamorous and it wasn't too shabby. It was in between and that was fine with Van. But Van one day wanted to live in a nice house where maybe one day he could have a wife and kids. But Van knew that would never happen.
The woman he married would have to know about his life as a man whore and he knew from watching some of his friends that she wasn't going to like it. But Van was incapable of lying. He couldn't sit there and live a lie because he knew one day if he left it alone the truth would come back and haunt him and ruin his life. He had witnessed it with his mother. His mother didn't seem to die of grief but she seemed to die of the painful truth that she found out about her husband soon after he died. Life was painful to Van but what kept him going on were the stars. Van was studying to be an astrologist. Van heard footsteps enter his room.
"What can I do for you?" Van asked.
"You got a client," Dryden said.
"Not, Mrs Rivers again, she scratches," Van moaned. Van had noticed that the women who wanted his service were either married, old, deformed, fat or plain ugly. In other words women who couldn't get any.
"No, she's tomorrow night," Dryden smiled. "Tonight's, Edina Winters."
"Why can't I crawl up in a ball and die?" Van questioned himself.
Dryden looked at Van sympathetically. "Look, you don't have to do this for long, you'll get your degree in a couple of months and then you get a real job, Van,"
"You're right, Thanks, So what's wrong with Edina," Van said.
"Nothing's wrong," Dryden said.
"Don't give me that bull," Van said angrily.
"She's fat, ok," Dryden said.
"Great," Van said sarcastically. Van was a very good-looking male and he knew it.
"I'm so going to throw up after this." And he walked out of his room to do his occupation.

Van walked back home, after his night with Edina. It was still night. Van wanted to throw up. Van thought about what Dryden had said earlier about her being fat. She wasn't fat. Van thought. She was obese.
Van felt physically and mentally ill. He always felt this way after he had done the deed. Van was very careful. He always remembered to wear a condom. He didn't want to get any on those women pregnant.
Come to think of it, Van wandered if anyone on this earth would want to have a child with them. Van knew he wasn't ready to be a father. Van wanted to first obtain a good job and also if it wasn't too much to ask, he wanted to be married to the women as well before they had a baby. He didn't like the idea of bringing a child into the world without both parents.
Van then looked at the stars.
Beautiful. He thought. In the sky he saw the constellations. He could name all of them.
I love the stars. They will always be my friends. Van thought to himself. Then all of a sudden Van saw a shooting star.
Should I? Van thought. And with that Van made a wish.
Van walked into his residence and he when he got to his apartment he slammed the door hard behind him. Van was furious. He couldn't do this anymore.
"I hate you, Father," he whispered. Van was ready to burst out into tears. His body was aching all over. He switched on the light and saw Allen sitting on the couch.
"Shezar, what the hell are doing in my apartment, in the middle of the night, sitting on my couch?" Van asked.
"Well, I wanted some company," Allen replied.
"No one's here. Merle's doing her business. Dryden is probably is screwing Millerna. And I'm too tired to care or to talk. So if you don't mind, will you leave?" Van said with a tired voice.
"Poor Van, Would you like a massage?" Allen asked.
"No thanks." Van replied. "Did you listen to me?"
"Van I've been thinking." Allen started.
"Well there's a surprise," Van interrupted.
"Very funny Van," Allen chuckled as he pointed his finger at Van.
"Aren't I?" Van said with a fake smile. "OK, male version of Barbie, Van wants to get some sleep. If Van doesn't sleep, Van a grumpy boy in the morning." Van said with a child- like tone.
"OK, I get it, I'll discuss it with you another time," Allen said as he looked up and down Van.
Van knew Allen was staring at his male gigolo outfit. It consisted of the usual black leather trousers and the silk shirt. Van wore a navy blue silk shirt. Van didn't look like a man whore. He looked more like gay guy out for the pull (out to get a guy).
"Would you stop staring at me and get out," Van raised his voice.
"I see someone's very touchy tonight, so I'll leave," Allen responded.
"Thank you," Van said sarcastically.
Allen finally left and Van was left in piece. Van was particularly angry tonight because he had a seminar very early in the morning. Van was ready to go to bed until he heard a noise. He went to check on it. It was Dryden.
"What, the hell are you doing Dryden?" Van said.
"Sorry, I was trying to get in my room," Dryden replied.
"OK, well here's a tip, you turn the light on so you can see where you are going in the dark, to go to get into your room." Van said sarcastically. "Do you understand?"
"You are so sarcastic, Van," Dryden said.
"Well I'm trying to get some sleep, so I can get a good education which will enable me to get a decent job and get the hell out of this nightmare that I happen to be living," Van cried.
"I'm sorry," Dryden said. "It's only a couple of months, probably less, actually definitely less and besides you're the smartest guy in school."
"Let's just get some sleep," Van said.
"By the way you don't have Mrs Rivers tomorrow night or ever again to be precise." Dryden smiled.
"What are you talking about?" Van questioned.
"It seems Mrs Rivers, Husband found out about her deeds. It seems you weren't the only other guy she was screwing." Dryden laughed.
"Please don't, I'm going to throw up," Van said.
"Anyway tomorrow you're going to be chaperoning someone instead," Dryden started.
"What?" Van was puzzled.
"It seems Mrs Thorne, needs someone to accompany her to a banquet and well she can't go alone and so I thought I could help and so I volunteered you."
"So, big wow," Van smirked and walked to his bedroom.
"She's paying 10, 000," Dryden said.
Van's jaw dropped. He stopped. "10,000"
"Yep she normally pays her chaperons more but I wanted to seal the deal. Van you do this and you'll never have to man whore again." Dryden smiled.
"But…Do I have to deed?" Van said.
"Sex isn't required, Van. You're going to be set free." Dryden finished and walked to his room to get some sleep.
Van smiled. For the first time in a long time Van actually properly smiled.
