“Hitomi… wake up!!” A female voice whispered in her ear.
Hitomi is eighteen years old. And she did consider herself a regular girl (stressing the word did), until about six months ago.
[Flashback
For a long time now, Hitomi felt that she had been missing something in her life, and for a long time now she could not quite put her finger on it. She led a fairly ordinary life. Had loving parents and brother, had friends, went to school, studied hard. Nothing interesting really. And now she is off to university. She had earned herself a scholarship to the prestigious Oxford University in England. Yeah, she was going to miss all of her friends and family. Mom, Dad, Yukari, Amano (her are a couple now just to let you know and have been together for two years). She was even going to miss her super - annoying little brother. (A/N Can any one tell me what he is called… me can't remember) But this was a once and a life time opportunity for her… right?
But her life was about to change… Drastically. When she was 16, her and her family moved to the country side. But she still saw Yukari and Amano regularly now she had her own car. Droughts had captured Japan and many other countries in Asia and Western Europe.
“Droughts are now becoming a serious problem, for Japanese citizens,” the newsreader reported. “Every one is urged to keep their water usage to an absolute minimum. Swimming pools have been closed, there will be a 12,000 yen fine (A/N that's about fifty British pounds, and 75 American dollars… I think to any one found to have washed their car…”
“Ridiculous,” Hitomi's Dad muttered under his breath, “Bloody global warming.”
A few days later, a forest fire erupted near their home while Hitomi went out for the day with Yukari. It was uncontrollable. A dozen fire engines, with 48 skilled men could not put it out. Reinforcements were then called in. Helicopters then tried to tame the wild flames of the fire, but no such look.
“Three members of the Kansaki family perished when the fire spread to their country house. Fire forces tried their best to save the family, but the fire was too out of control. Their eldest child Hitomi…” reported the male newsreader.
“Why? Why did this have to happen?” Hitomi thought endlessly. “I have lost everything. My Mom, my Dad, my Brother!! I have nothing left. I hate this place. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it.”
It was a cold bitter night. She was walking through the park that her Father always used to bring her to as a child. There was the pond where her and her mother would feed the ducks scrap pieces of bread after their picnic. Frost beginning to secrete on the edges of the ponds delicate waters. There was the swing where her brother fell off and knocked out his front took and the hard concrete below. Now it just swung aimlessly, creaking as it moved backwards and forwards in the moonlight.
“I just want to get away from everything. I don't want to be here anymore” Her throat gave a sharp pain when ever she breathed in the ice cold air. “I don't want to be here anymore”, she shouted to the skies, tears pouring uncontrollably down her face. Then a magnificent pillar of white light surrounded her. The warm air inside the pillar contrasted greatly with the winters evening out side. Then before she knew it, she was being lifted from her feet, “What the hell…” and was swooped into another world!
[End Flashback
“HITOMI, wake up already!” The female screamed at the top of her voice.
“Whuzzgoingon?”, said Hitomi with a glazed look over her face. Slowly she sat up from the single bed, stretched her arms above her head and yawned. The sun was slightly peeping in from a slight sit in the despondent grey curtains that hung limply in from of her.
Her room was in the attic of the house. Her room was larger than everyone else's (apart from the owner himself of course), but was still petite compared to normal standards on Earth. The walls drab and whitewashed, and on the ceiling you can see where there was a leak from the heavy downpour some weeks ago. The only furnishings being a miniature scratched chest of draws that contained what little possessions she owned, the single bed that had been place in the far corner of the room, and a thatched chair that stood underneath a small table and mirror that was suspended modestly on the wall.
“It is your turn to go to the market place and pick up the vegetables for dinner tonight,” she said in an agitated tone. “But it would make it easier on everyone in this house if you just got your ass out of bed in the morning”
“Tomorrow, I promise that I will be the first one up in the morning, Aya” Hitomi said brightly.
“That is due to happen the same day that Allen Schezar will cut off his gorgeous long hair” Her face changed, as she went into a dreamlike state, a blush flooded her cheeks, and her eyes softened.
“Who?” asked Hitomi in a puzzled look.
“Let's just say that he is an extremely hot Caeli Knight,” said Aya as she flicked back her long brown hair. Her matching brown eyes disappearing into the realm of thought.
--------
Hitomi walked along the cobbled street with a basket balanced on her arm, containing all of the morning's groceries that were needed for this evening meal. Her knee high length plain and tatty blue dress swayed as she walked. A thick, woollen cloak hung around her neck, fixed securely with a broach, which held the material firmly in place.
“Excuse me, excuse me young miss?” The middle aged man approached her tentatively. His eyes held the most perplexing look Hitomi had ever seen. I looked as though he was dying to ask her something, but at the same time too scared to do so.
Hitomi smiled brightly at the man, whose hair was slightly receding, and the skin around his eyes was starting to show age, as a sign for him to continue speaking.
“Are you Hitomi Kansaki, Hitomi Kansaki from the Mystic Moon?”
“Yes, I am; why do you ask?” She said politely, not wanting to offend the perfect stranger, but wanting to know how the HELL he knew her name.
“Gods! Wait until I tell my wife that I met the famous Hitomi Kansaki, the seer who had a major hand in saving ALL of Gaea, from the hands of Emperor Dornkirk and the rest of Zaibach.”
“Huh? What the hell... I have never even heard of Emperor Dornkirk... I think that you must have the wrong person Sir,” Hitomi was absolutely confused. Why was this guy doing this? Well... now she came to think about it, this was not the first person who has come up to her and said things like this.
“Wait until i tell my wife, hehe!! She'll me sooo jealous. Hmm, maybe we should have a weekend away to Fanelia, then maybe we could meet Van as well!!” he said to himself childishly, whilst pottering along the path.
--------
“Hitomi... where are you?” There has not a day went by when Van Fanel has not thought about Hitomi. It is has been four years since he last seen her... but to him, it feels more like a life time.
He sat on the large window sill, his head leaning against the window. He breathed out talent on the glass, which slowly but surely disappeared. His raven hair was still as wild and untameable as ever. His dark, but loving eyes still had a flare for passion. He was still same old Van. The only changes were those made when puberty really started to kick in (A/N LOL!! Could not resist saying that!!) His voice deeper than before, his shoulders broader, his body more toned and refined. Well, to sum up... he has filled out nicely in every way.
Since the task of re - building Fanelia was now complete, and everyone had settled back into their daily routine, his Council have been pressuring him to find a Queen. Many Princess's names had carefully been slipped into conversation by his Council, in hope that Van would come to his senses and get married “for the sake of Fanelia” they said. But he only wanted Hitomi. Well obviously he could not ask her to marry him straight away, courting should come first... to be quite frank, Van did not have any clue of going about the situation. But he just told himself that it would all come together smoothly when the time was right... but the truth is, he does not even know where she is.
Van went to the Mystic Moon in search of Hitomi... but she was not there. Yukari had told that she went missing six months ago, a few days after the death if her parents.
