She looked at herself hard in the mirror. Her hair flowed down her back, as she had decided to get rid of the boy like style she had before. With time she had lost the child like face she had before, and all she could see, was a slender more mature face. Her eyes still remained the same, but in a way looked wiser than they did before. She still adored her hobby of running. Although, right now, it was hard for her to do any training due to her… current situation.
She took residents in the Orito Household. He in everybody's opinion was basically just a big, fat, round, scruffy, male chauvinistic pig, who earned his money from selling women!! But thankfully, it was fairly rare for him to be home, as he always went away for most of the week trying to sell his `girls'. Aya had once tried to explain to her the laws of Akina on this subject, but to her dismay, Hitomi did not understand a single word she uttered
“Gods, Hitomi, it's simple really.” She said with a look of superiority on her face.
“Yeah, but remember you are talking to the girl who has never even been to Gaea in her life. In fact she did not even know it existed until just over six months ago.” Hitomi replied with sincerity written all over her face. And with that the pair just laughed in a fit of giggles.
---------
Hitomi and Aya were walking along the cobbled streets onto the way to the market.
Aya was a slim girl, who was twenty years old. Her short blonde hair framed her round, but mature face. Her blue eyes always sparked in the sunlight. And she was never seen without a smile on her face. She must have stood about a head taller than Hitomi, and it was hard not to look up to her, literally and figuratively. She was smart, intelligent, beautiful, entertaining, amusing. But most of all she was loyal. She would never turn a back on anyone. (A/N, she is not going to be a Mary Sue)
“So… what does his Lordship want doing this time while he is away?” asked Aya with a hint of sarcasm in her voice, scratch that… A LOT of sarcasm.
About four days ago, Orito left at the touch of day break. But left behind a note, with a list of all the chores and tasks that he wanted completed while he was away. Also tucked inside the envelope was a small amount of money, stressing the word small. This money went towards food and other items for the seventeen girls including Hitomi and Aya that lived in the Orito household. The main priority however, for this money, went towards doing all the tasks that Orito left behind when ever he went away.
Taking out a crumpled piece of paper from her dress pocket, unfolded it, and began to fluently recite the scrawled handwriting. She was the only one of the very few who could read his writing. “While I am away to Westoni, to set one of you lucky ladies up with a fella -”
“Ha!! Lucky… is that what he calls it. I say it's unjust to all women! You know… one day… I am going to get out of this hell hole. And make it illegal in all of Gaea… to sell women.” Anger flared up in her like an untamed dragon. This was normal for Aya. Something along them lines would come floating from her lips, whenever a comment like that was made. But, who could blame her?
Hitomi had every faith in her. How she was going to get out of this misery, she did not know. But still, all they could do was hope. That is what kept them going day after day. But it was starting to become some what of a short supply.
In the world of women selling, there were three types of men you could marry in this industry. Each type man was categorized into the following.
The first type of man was named the `flying pig'. So, originally named after the phrase; `when pigs fly'. This is were the woman would be sold to a nice man, who took care of her. And then they would end up falling madly, head over heels in love with each other. But that was an extremely rare case. There has been no `flying pigs' come out of the house of Orito.
The second is the `almost happily ever after. These were men who were thoughtful, benevolent and considerate, and the two would end up becoming friends and living in peace. This sometimes happened, but again fairly uncommon.
Last but not least is the `unhappily ever after'. These were the kind of men who were too unbearable, disgusting, horrific, or repulsive to find themselves a wife. Or because they were too lazy, violent, down - right pig ugly or they were too much of a psychopathic that no one in the right mind would marry. But they could commonly found in a combination of these attributes. Unfortunately, most of the women were sold to an `unhappily never after.'
But still; she read on, “what I would like done is,” “here comes the list,” Hitomi said bracing herself for the worst…
“1. All laundry must be washed, pressed, and put away before I return”
“HA!! Typical,” said Hitomi in disgust.
“Ewww! Not nice, have you seen the state of his under wear. Nope there is no way I am doing that!! When we get back, we should talk to the girls and see if we can stretch the money to get his draws dry cleaned this week!” She then collapsed onto the floor and pretended to gag on the thought of Orito's underwear. The phrase `Orito's underwear' should be made taboo in Hitomi's opinion.
“2. House must be stocked with the usual food and groceries…” The list continued with many gross, obscene, and some just out right unnecessary tasks. Each one was followed by a rant by Aya, and Hitomi who agreed very much with her statements.
Aya and Hitomi had pretty much become best friends ever since she had come to Gaea. But she has still not forgotten about Yukari! “Gods, Yukari will be so worried about me. I just wish that somehow I could let her know that I am ok, and that there is no need to worry about me, just to put her mind at rest. But how am I supposed to do that when I don't even know how I got here? I am so, sorry Yukari.” Hitomi thought, with a pang of guilt.
But Aya had stuck by there through thick and thin ever since she arrived. Hitomi knew though that Aya has problems of her own. But she had never told anyone, not even, Hitomi, how she came to be living at the House of Orito. Hitomi suspected that she had been through an even more turbulent time than Hitomi. But Aya was the kind of girl who never showed her feeling. It was like she has closed off her emotions from the world, and decided it best just to keep them stored in a box under lock and key in her mind. But Hitomi knew that she was hurting terribly inside. Hitomi thought that her closed off attitude towards her feelings was her downfall. I she could just open up every once and a while… her life would be that much better to live.
Every so often she would hear her crying in the middle of this night.
One night, she went down to see what was wrong. And all she got was a tearful, big fat “Get the hell away.” Ever since then she decided that it would be best to leave her be, and that she would open up about everything that has happened to her when the time was right for her. She did not want to force her to tell her anything. And she had the feeling that if she did try to comfort her, she would get another earful.
She also had the feeling that Aya always put up a front whenever she was with people. Like she did not want anyone to think she was weak or that she was not capable of handling things by her self. Hitomi knew that one day she would open up to her. And after all, Hitomi id the kind of girl who carries her heart around on her sleeve… so naturally Aya knew everything that had happened to the Kansaki girl.

“Forbidden love,” I thought. “Forbidden love is always the most tempting. It is the most tempting thing known to man. Knowing that you can't have this person, makes you want this person even more. It was like a profoundly tender, passionate affection for this person, which was simply not allowed. But it is not simple at all. In fact it is utterly complex.
Why is it that the thing that you would give your heart, your soul, you life for is not prohibited? It is a permanent tension to live a forbidden love. There is no denying that having this feeling for a forbidden fruit, gives the feeling of thrill and excitement. But at the same time it's upsetting and harrowing.
I have not been told that it is prohibited… but I know it is. Just thinking about this individual makes me want to cry until my heart in content. But crying gets you no where. Those tiny glistening drops, no matter how much emotion is in them, they can not live up to the real pain inside. That is my philosophy.
Saying the name if my alluring love, it's too hurtful. So much so... I sometimes break my own philosophy. So now, whenever I reference to my special person in my thoughts he is known as… `My Clandestine Honey.' A forbidden love can be love that can only be acted upon in a person's dreams. Forbidden pleasures alone are loved immoderately; when lawful, they do not excite desire.”
