The corners of Star's lips twitched in amusement when she saw the two men leaning casually on the bar, trying to go unnoticed by the members of Red Shaman or the other teams. She grinned wider as she cut easily through the crowd, dragging Ken along in her wake.
She stood behind them cloaking her presence for a minute and admiring the view before saying, “Y'know, I can kind of see why she had to have both of you.”
They both jumped then turned to stare at her.
“Do you really think she isn't going to notice that the two of you are here?”
“Oh, she'll notice, she's smart,” Watari said grinning.
“I'm pretty sure she told you two not to be here,” Star said thoughtfully.
“If you think we would leave her to go on mission with no backup, you're sadly mistaken,” Tatsumi said.
“So, Skye, Ghost, Sunny and I are what? Just because none of us are kagetsukai it doesn't mean we aren't useful, oh great and marvelous suit boy,” she said laughing.
“It wasn't meant like . . .”
“I know what you meant. Better hope she doesn't find you in the first few minutes she's here or she'll send you both off. You know she will.”
“She'll try,” Tatsumi said, getting that glint in his eyes.
Star grinned. “Yup. Perfect match. The make up sex after you guys fight has to be off the charts. Have fun. Come dance with me later, Boom,” she said over her shoulder as she walked off.
“I don't dance,” he called after her.
“You will.”
Watari turned to his husband. “Ever notice that the people our wife associates with are kind of scary sometimes?”
“Ever notice that our wife is kind of scary most of the time? And extremely scary when she's on mission.”
“Point taken.”
Tatsumi shrugged and looked around the room again. He had felt someone staring at him. He knew it. Moreover, the energy of whomever it had been felt extremely familiar. He couldn't quite place it, as if it had been a long, long time since he had felt that person near him.
The elderly woman seated on the other side of the room dropped her gaze when he looked toward her. The young woman beside her looked at her worriedly.
“Grandmother? What is it?”
The old woman smiled and patted her hand. “Nothing, darling. I think I've seen a ghost.”

Aya sighed and glared at Yohji.
“I thought you said you could dance, Balinese,” he growled at him.
“I can usually. It's a little bit difficult with your katana poking me in the leg on every turn,” Yohji hissed back. “Still floors me that Star could make everyone miss a frigging sword.”
Aya shrugged. “It's Star. You expected anything less?”
“Not really. I think I'm just beginning to grasp how scary that woman is.”
“Hn. I'm not overly enamored with someone being able to poke around in my mind.”
Gods, like any of us in our right minds would want to muck about in that angst laden excuse for gray matter you call a brain, Abyssinian, Schuldig sneered in Aya's head.
Get out of my fucking mind, Schuldig.
You're already out of it for the most part. I will gladly because you're pissy and annoying.
Children. Cease and desist.
Yes, Goddess. Was the reply from both of them.
Since you obviously have time to bicker like a couple of elementary school children, I take it that you have your targets in sight.
Hai, Goddess. Balinese and I are on target and he is within range of both hearing and vision.
Ja, same here. And if the bastard doesn't stop talking to Skye's cleavage instead of her face I'm going to gleefully kill him right now.
Isakk.
Ja, ja. I got it.
Blaze, are you in range? Ghost asked.
Depends on what you need, sweetheart. We're still a couple of kilometers away.
I keep getting the same two energy signatures on all of these kids. I can't really read either one of them other than the initial empathics I'm getting.
Which are?
One of them, well both actually, scare me nearly out of my mind. The other is . . . I'm not sure how to put this.
Just do the best you can.
In a way, it reminds me of you when you switch to all fire mode. But it's different. Like another element but still the same core. That doesn't make any sense.
Yes it does. Anything else about it?
I can't access it fully to trace it down properly.
Why not?
Because it hurts. Not as in inflicted physical injury. But more like an emotional hurt. That isn't right either. Feels like it does when someone is crying their heart out only it feels like this has been going on for centuries.
Send me the traces you have. I'll try to sort them out and give you an answer.
Okay.
Ghost sent Blaze the initial impressions as well as the deeper traces she had found. Blaze was quiet for a few minutes while she processed them. She knew who one was almost instantly. The other was a little harder to track.
Baby, how well do you have a handle on your regained abilities? Blaze asked.
I think I have everything integrated.
What about the boys?
They're good too. Why?
I think you're going to need them.
