She makes me shudder
She makes me shake
At night I think and I want to take her away

Star.

Yeah, Gran?

Make sure no one notices me strangling my husbands.

Blaze ignored Star's peals of laughter.

“I could have sworn I told the two of you that you were not coming with me on this mission,” Blaze said through clenched teeth.

“We didn't come with you, love. We were invited to a party and since you were working, we came,” Tatsumi said calmly.

Seiichiro!” Blaze ground out warningly.

“Love, we're here now. You can't oust us without making a huge scene and completely blowing your cover.”

“You have obviously never met Star's ability to glamour something,” Blaze growled. “I will not risk losing either one of you.”

“This isn't like before, koiishi,” Watari said. “There are no traps here unless your team happens to be the ones who've set them. We have no doubt that you and your team can handle anything that come up. We just want to be here to support you if you happen to need us.”

“If you have no doubt that we can handle whatever comes up; then neither one of you need to be here to support,” Blaze said.

Gran, this has got to be cleared up quick. They're coming to get the babies for the show soon.

I know, Star. I know.

“Damn it, you two. Just go home.

“Not happening,” Tatsumi said. He seemed to be digging in for a long fight.

Visions of tattooed chains
She reigns in my world
A princess on her throne

Okay, I know you dumbasses can hear me. Can't you tell she's afraid for you? If you stay, you'll distract her because she's going to be focused on protecting you. We need her on par and at top level for this.

We are both perfectly capable of protecting ourselves, Tatsumi snarled in his head.

Yeah, you did such a fucking bang up job of it last time you went with her.

That was different.

Not in her head it isn't, shadow boy. If you won't leave then come to some kind of compromise. Say that you'll go if it gets too rough, even if you're lying out both sides of that pretty mouth of yours. We don't have time for you to have a domestic squabble that could last the rest of the damn year.

“Okay. What's she saying?” Blaze asked.

“What's who saying?” Tatsumi said.

“Star. I know she's talking to you. Everyone seems to get that glazed look when she does that. Not to mention, you stopped arguing.”

“Blaze, look if things get too bad, we'll just leave.”

“By who's definition of “too bad” are we working with? By mine, it's already too bad for you to be here.”

Tatsumi opened his mouth to argue some more when a light tap on his shoulder brought all three of them around to face the young woman behind him.

“Anno, if you would excuse me,” the young woman said, bowing deeply to them. “My grandmother would like to have a word with you, sir.

Watari's eyebrows shot up nearly into his hair as he and Tatsumi exchanged a worried look.

“We'll be there in a moment.”

She bowed to them again and left.

“Old lover we don't know about, Sei?” Watari teased.

“As you pointed out earlier, anyone of my peers who knew me when I was alive would be dead by this point. Or very old,” Tatsumi said frowning.

“Let's go find out,” Blaze said, catching his hand. Star, cover for me a bit longer, I want to see where this goes.

Gotcha.

Bradley.

Yes?

Call me if they start to get suspicious and I'll break away from this.

I don't think a few more minutes will hurt. I'll let you know if they start to get restless.

You're a good man, Oracle.

Now, that is something I haven't heard in . . . ever.

She smiled a little and walked through the crowd with her husbands.

Mysterious, delirious, I wonder if she knows
Mindtamer, magicmaker, fortuneteller of long ago

“I swear to the fucking gods, if he keeps staring at your boobs I'm going to blow his balls off, Skye,” Schuldig hissed into Skye's ear as their quarry moved away to get her a drink.

“Oh, calm down, Schu. It isn't as if I'm not used to this sort of thing after a thousand and one missions.”

“Yeah, well, watching you play a mindless fluffball is possibly the most disturbing thing I've ever seen.”

“Yes. But since you know better, what difference does it make?”

“None. Other than the fact that I really want this bastard dead. How the fuck does he sleep knowing he sold his own son? Better yet, knowing he's probably here and being used . . . gods only know how.”

“No conscience.”

“Fuck, I don't have a conscience. But even I'd never sink that damn low.”

“I know, bebe. I know,” she said, reaching up and touching him on the cheek.

“Tilt your head to the left a little,” he said, sliding around behind her and shifting a few dangling strands of her upswept hair away from her neck.

“Why?”

“Because here he comes and I want to make sure he gets a good view of this. Just don't kill me. Sunny probably will later but what the hell.”

“A good view of whaaaah?” Sky gasped as she felt Schuldig's teeth and lips clamp down on the skin of her neck just above the necklace.

What are you doing?

If you can't guess, we really need to find you a boyfriend. Other than Sunny's stupid ass.

Very funny. I know what I'd just like to know why.

He's not getting the message any other way. Leave it. He's a fucking telepath and he's pissed because his suggestions that I leave the two of you alone haven't been working.

And he hasn't figured out you're a telepath as well?

He wants me as well but he wants you more. He just thinks I'm too thick headed to get the messages. He's really weak.

I'd wondered why I hadn't noticed anything ping my shields.

Lieb, have you met your shields?

“Push harder, Aya or we'll never get this done before we get caught,” Yohji panted.

“I'm pushing as hard as I can. It's a really tight squeeze.”

“Yeah, I know. Okay, on three. One, two, three!”

Aya planted his feet and shoved with all his might while Yohji angled his legs for better hold and did the same.

Together they finally managed to shove the strangled body out the bathroom window.

“We'd better see if Star can make him disappear so no one sets off any alarms. That could blow the whole night,” Yohji said, stripping off his gloves and stuffing them into his tux jacket pocket.

“Why did you have to kill him now instead of waiting until later?”

“Seemed like too good of an opportunity to waste,” Yohji said, wrapping one arm around Aya's waist. “Kinda like now.”

“We have a mission to complete. We'll have plenty of time for this later,” Aya said, trying half heartedly to pull away from him.

“Awww. No quickie in the bathroom?”

“In case you failed to remember, our quickies usually run an hour long.”

“Hmm. Point taken.”

“Not right now but it will be later,” Aya said his eyes glinting with malicious glee.

“As long as it isn't the point of your katana, I can deal with that.”

“Depends on which sword you were meaning.”
