Just one chance
Just one breath
Just in case there's just one left.

The door closed behind him and Watari blinked as his eyes slowly focused in the darkness of the room. The only illumination was a single candle set away from a huge bed. He paused upon hearing a woman's voice, soft and musical in its tones, not unlike Skye's healing chants but this voice had much more power behind it.

“Come, child,” the woman said. “They want you here.”

Watari made his way cautiously toward the bed, barely able to make out what had to be Tatsumi slumped on one side, head buried in his folded arms. He looked around for the owner of the voice but still didn't see anyone else in the room. He stopped when Tatsumi looked up and at him. They stared at each other for a moment.

He's so beautiful, Watari thought. Even now, with his usually neat hair mussed from where he had run his fingers through it in fear, obviously exhausted and afraid for their wife, Tatsumi was beautiful. Gods, please don't let me have screwed this up beyond repair, Watari silently prayed.

I love you, I have loved you all along
And I miss you.
Been away for far too long.

When Tatsumi stood up and started walking toward him it was all Watari could do to stop himself from running to him. Some horrible voice in the back of his head whispered slyly, He may not want you anymore. Look what you did to her. She may not want you anymore. You abandoned both of them out of your own insecurities. Watari wanted to cover his ears and deny what that meant.

Tatsumi stopped a few feet away from him, seeming uncertain of how to greet his husband. Again they stared at one another as though meeting for the very first time.

“H … how is she?” Watari asked when the silence finally became too much for him to bear.

“She's . . . healing. In and out of consciousness. Which is good, at least she isn't completely out,” Tatsumi said. “She's doing quite well all things considered. Her mother sent a healer about an hour ago.”

“Brighd, isn't just a healer, Chiro. She's a goddess,” came Blaze's voice from the bed. She sounded weak and tired.

On my knees, I'll ask
Last chance for one last dance.

Watari shot around Tatsumi and to the side of the bed. He gasped when he saw the full extent of the damage. The only part of her he could see that wasn't burned was an odd x shape across her face. He presumed she must have put her arms up to shield her face. Ohgodsohgodsohgods. He dropped to his knees and very gently took her left hand. Seeing where her ring had indeed melted and fused with her skin, the flash burn had left a perfect impression of the knotwork, the diamonds and emeralds winked at him in the dim light of the room.

I need to hear you say
I love you
I have loved you all along.

“I'm sorry,” he managed to choke out then started babbling. “Oh, gods, I'm so sorry. Please don't hate me. I don't want either one of you to hate me. I couldn't exist anymore if you did. I was an idiot. I'm sorry. I'll do anything if you let me come home. I just want to come home. Please, please, don't hate me.”

And I forgive you
For being away for far too long.

Watari felt strong fingers take his chin and turn his head. Tatsumi was looking down at him with the oddest expression on his face. “Yutaka, we don't hate you,” Tatsumi said, gently wiping away one of Watari's tears with his other hand.

“Honey, why would we hate you?” Blaze asked, trying to squeeze his fingers reassuringly and finding that her hands didn't quite work properly just then.

“Be . . . because I nearly got you killed again.” He was crying in earnest now, tears streaming down his cheeks and over Tatsumi's fingers that were still grasping his chin.

“No you didn't. I nearly got myself killed again. I went into a volatile situation while I was distracted when I know better than that.”

“But it was my fault you were distracted,” Watari said.

“You couldn't have known . . .” Blaze began.

With you I'd withstand
All of hell to hold your hand.

Tatsumi stopped any further argument. “Stop! Both of you. We can assign blame later if it really becomes necessary. But can we please just forgo this and be a family again?”

“Can't think of anything I want more,” Watari said, giving him a smile then looking back to their wife. Blaze didn't say anything but managed to yank him down into a hug.

“Oh, damn that hurts,” she gasped.

So keep breathing
Cause I'm not leaving

“Sweetheart!” Watari started to protest, levering up slightly so he wasn't directly on her. “You're still really hurt.”

“Totally worth it,” she said. “I missed you, I love you. Damn it, wish I could get my hands to work right.”

“Give them time to heal, love,” Tatsumi said gently, reaching around Watari and pulling him back into his arms.

Hold on to me
Never let me go.

“I love looking at that,” Blaze said, smiling tiredly at the two of them. “I'm so happy you're home, Honey.”

“Not nearly as much as I am,” Watari said, leaning back against Tatsumi's chest. “I didn't know if . . .”

“We'll work out any leftover kinks sometime later, Yutaka,” Tatsumi said. Watari knew that, while he might be off the hook with Blaze, Tatsumi was another subject. Trust issues with his husband ran deep and once a trust was breached with him it wasn't so easily healed. But at least he was giving him a chance to make amends.

“You know, my back is almost completely healed now,” she said. “Help me sit up. Damn I hate this.”

Tatsumi chuckled a little. “Of course you do. You're our little nightmare bitch goddess from hell, we expect no less of you,” he said. He very gently put one hand behind her back, levering her up to a sitting position before sliding around behind her and bracing his back against the headboard of the bed.

“Yutaka,” Tatsumi said quietly, looking pointedly at his husband.

“Blaze, are you sure?” Watari asked nervously.

“Yes.”

Watari nodded and scooted around behind her as well. Tatsumi put one arm around Watari's shoulders. Blaze gingerly leaned back against both of them.

“Are you sure you're okay, sweetheart?” Watari asked.

Blaze kept the fact that the pressure felt odd and still hurt a little to herself and simply nodded. “Love you both,” she said before allowing the soft, even breathing of the two men she adored lull her into a much needed sleep.

As always, thanks to everyone still reading and reviewing. It means a lot to me that you've all stuck through an unintentionally long story. I sincerely appreciate it.

The song used in this chapter is Far Away by Nickelback. Don't own it, seriously wish I did.
