We have a problem. A big one. Rebecca got away from him. But Alex won't let her go. This isn't good.

That's not the only problem.

We all have our demons. Some worse than others. Grace has them bad. Alex is worse. Plus, there are others too. One of us in particular has some heavy baggage. I don't think I can do the story justice.

“I killed someone once,” he said. I don't know why I said it. Jimmy stared at me.

“What?!” he asked. I nodded.

“Yeah,” I said.

“Who?”

“My father.”

“Let me guess. He hit you and your mom, didn't he?”

“Yeah.”

“Oh. Sorry to hear that.”

“Don't be.”

“Right.” Jimmy looked confused. “Wait… why are you telling me this?”

I shrugged. “I don't know.”

“Does Karen know?”

“No.”

“Are you going to tell her?”

“I don't know.”

“How did you kill him?”

“Stabbing.”

“Oh.”

I gave off a dry laugh. “You want to know the sad-funny part?”

“What?”

“Mom told the police she killed him. Heh. Can you believe that?”

“I think she did it out of love.”

“Ha! It didn't feel like it.”

“Why do you think she did that?”

I threw my hands up into the air. “Honestly, I don't know. I thought she would be happy he was dead. But no! She was scared of me.” I snorted.

“Can you believe that? My mom scared of her own son!” I could see the look on his face.

“Oh. Too much? Sorry about that.”
