Chapter 9

Take Me Away

Yohji slipped off the bed and padded naked to the couch sliding down to kneel on the floor looking up into the dark eyes noting the troubled look of them. Was he regretting that he'd promised to stay and only doing it because he'd promised? The blonde's heart clenched at that thought, but he pushed it aside and gently caressed his hands up and down the muscled thighs of his lover.

"I was afraid that you left after all," he said quietly. "But there is something wrong I can see it."

Enzeru shook his head with a smile. He placed a warm hand against Yohji's cheek and leaned in to kiss him deeply.

"I had a visitor, that's all." He frowned suddenly as he pulled away. He could feel Gabriel close by still, but felt that Yohji and his friends were in no immediate danger. He sighed again and the stud in his mouth came out to play with his lower lip. He stared into the darkness of the room as the encounter with the white tenshi came back to his mind. What if Gabriel was right and Zennou planned on sending him to hell before his mortality ran out. He wasn't ready yet; there were so many things he had yet to do. He hadn't slept under the stars in the arms of a lover; he hadn't petted a kitten, or held a newborn baby even. He was startled out of his thoughts as Yohji spoke to him.

"A visitor?" Yohji stared up at the silver haired man. "Did one of the guys stop by? Omi or Ken?" God or could Aya have come back and used his key to let himself in figuring that Yohji would just take him back like he hadn't just walked out without explanation or even more than terse goodbye?

Enzeru smiled and caressed his cheek as he shook his head. "No, one of my 'brothers'." He said the word like it was poison on his tongue. He looked into Yohji's eyes then. "How long were you awake? What did you hear or see?" He suddenly felt a tightening in his stomach, another feeling he didn't understand. What if he heard…or *saw* Gabriel? He continued to caress Yohji's cheek as he waited for the man to answer.

"Not but a minute," Yohji answered a frown marring his forehead as his eyebrows drew together. "I'm not much of a morning person normally so it takes me a little while to really wake up." He took the hand resting on his cheek and held in his own. "Maybe it's time we talked? If you're not ready I'll understand I've got my own secrets. But I can tell you it won't change how I felt when I asked you to stay or how I feel right now."

Enzeru looked into the jade depths of Yohji's eyes and saw the honesty in them. He shook his head, not understanding his reluctance to tell the blonde his true origins. He kissed the furrowed brow of his lover and stood, walking over to turn on a light. He sat on the floor, his back to Yohji and pulled his hair over his shoulder. He spread his wings wide and exposed the flesh between his shoulder blades. "See this mark? It is the mark of the 'wicked'. It was given to me when my eyes and wings were stained black. I committed a crime, one that my 'brothers' and my boss saw as treason against my kind. I was made mortal, and sent to earth to make up for what I have done." He shook his head. "But…."

Yohji shifted so that he was sitting directly behind the black winged angel. He wrapped his arms and legs around him so that they were sitting back to front, his chest plastered to his lover's back the soft feathers of his wings tickling against upper body.

"So they basically blackballed you and sent you here to repent. But…." He rested his chin on the angel's shoulder holding him protectively.

"But," Enzeru continued. "I feel no remorse for what I did. I did not hurt him, Ga-the tenshi did that after I left him." He sighed and leaned back into Yohji's embrace, closing his eyes as the memories rushed over him. "I went back, and he was dead. They had drank his blood and stolen his breath and marked him for hell. It was the same with the others too. I didn't care. They were my drug dealers and my partners in crime and sex, but still I felt nothing."

Enzeru turned in Yohji's arms, his feathered wings rubbing against the man's face. He looked deep into the jade eyes and continued. "With you it is different. I stood up to the tenshi when he came for you. I told him that if you were to die that I would do it myself and spare you the pain and the mark for hell. I have shortened my time on Earth because of this, but with you, I felt something…" he shook his head again, hoping it made sense to Yohji. He rested his head against his lovers shoulder and stared at the wall.

Yohji's breath caught in his throat and he placed a kiss on the other man's shoulder before speaking. "They, your `brothers', killed each person you slept with? Why? I don't understand." Then he took a deep breath. "If I hadn't asked you to stay. I'd be dead right now too, wouldn't I?"

Enzeru sighed and nodded. "Because it is a crime against Zennou to partake in human pleasures. I was supposed to take that man's life, but instead, was seduced by his beauty, so I took him, and in return, I let him take his pleasure from my body. It was the greatest experience of my immortality." He looked up into Yohji's eyes. "I never cared what happened to the humans I interacted with, I only wanted the pleasures. The taste of your drugs on my lips, the feel of hands on my body. That is all I wanted. Until tonight."

He sat up, gauging the reaction in Yohji's eyes. "If you want me to leave, I can't say that I will understand. This, burning inside me, it intrigues and confuses me at the same time. You are the cause of it, and for that gift, I would never let my brothers or Zennou hurt you."

Yohji closed his eyes realizing close he'd come to dying and he was certain that nothing he could have done would have saved him. How many people had died because they'd interacted with his lover. Were they innocents or were they guilty of some crime for seducing an angel to sin. He thought of the upside down cross on his shoulder the word sin spelled out in nails on it. He still remembered when he'd had it done. He couldn't condemn his lover for wanting to `live' but could `he' live with the fact that the black angel had knowingly put all of those people in jeopardy without remorse or even warning.

"I don't want you to leave," he said whispered finally. "I have so much blood on my own hands how could I condemn you." Yohji shifted around until he could look Enzeru in the eyes. "Stay."

Enzeru closed his eyes and sighed in relief. He didn't really know why he felt relieved at Yohji's words, but the feeling washed over him like warm water. He turned so he was face to face with Yohji and wrapped his arms around the blonde, pulling him onto his lap. He kissed him hard and passionately on the lips, his tongue thrusting into the inviting warmth of his lovers' mouth. He moaned and shifted Yohji a bit so he was straddling Enzeru's lap.

"Let's go to the bed," he groaned against the soft lips and bucked his hips up suggestively.

Yohji nodded his eyes already darkening with desire. Maybe he shouldn't feel this way but he couldn't help it. Just being near his dark angel made his blood burn with passion. He wanted to lie in his arms and forget for a little while the dangerous aspect of their lives, the blood on their hands and the pain in their pasts. He wanted to just feel the intense joy and pleasure that being with this man brought him.

"Yes, to bed, take me and take me away for just a little while."
