Weiss Kreuz Fan Fiction ❯ Insanity Darkness ❯ Chapter 1
Chapter 1
"And that's your mission," a girl muttered under her breath, obviously mimicking someone. "Ah, Goddess, it's cold! They never said it would be so freaking cold!"
The people around her looked at her strangely, but moved on, speaking a language that confused the girl. "I hope they don't think I'll be speaking Japanese," she said to herself. "I didn't really learn more beyond 'Shi-ne!'" She stomped her feet. "My Goddess, it's so COLD! My hair must be forming ice crystals now!" She wrapped her coat closer around her, shivering. "I have to remember to tell them, if they ever show up, that I HATE the cold!"
"Gee, Brad, think she hates the cold?" a nasal voice asked, mockingly. The girl turned, her white blond hair whipping around in the wind.
"Finally! Schuldig, right?" The girl held out her hand to the boy with the strange orange hair. "I'm the girl SZ sent. My name's Michiel." Michiel turned to his friend. "Hey. Bout time you showed up, Bradley Crawford."
Crawford raised an eyebrow at the rather tall, delicate looking Michiel. "You're SZ's weapon that everyone's afraid of?"
"OK, mister, you can stop thinking that right now," she told him, exasperated. "I can take care of myself, Bradley. I just didn't expect it to be like this. Did I mention I freaking hate the cold?"
Schuldig followed Crawford's example. "Maybe we should leave her here. Could learn some interesting words."
It didn't help Michiel that both of the men weren't as bundled up as her. "Oh, come on! There is snow on the ground. Snow! I'm cold. Now, if you value your sanity, you're going to take me to your safe house and fill me in on my vic... er, subjects."
Both of them blinked, and Crawford asked, "SZ didn't tell you?"
Michiel gave the two a Look. "They barely told me who I was working with here. They sure as hell didn't say that it'd be in a place where there would be SNOW!" She sneezed, and rubbed her numb nose. "I'm starting to lose feeling in some extremities. So why don't you stop thinking of me as a delicate whore and get me somewhere warm?"
Schuldig laughed at her wording. "C'mon, Brad, let's go. We can walk her by the flower shop."
"Walk?" Michiel followed the men, her voice plaintive. "Walk? In this? You guys aren't serious, right? Bradley? Schuldig?"
Crawford turned to glare at her, his glasses glinting in the dim sun. "Do not call me by my first name, Michiel."
The girl placed her hands in her coat pockets, shivering. "But Schuldig there called you by... oh." She blushed brilliantly. "Oh. I didn't realize you two did that every night... and isn't that suppose to be physically impossible?"
Crawford frowned at her. "You're a telepath."
She shook her head. "Not much of one. Schuldig is probably stronger than I. You do want to be called Schuldig, right?" At the orange haired man's frown, she waved her hands and said hurriedly, "It's just Mr. Crawford doesn't want to be called by his given name, so I'm wanting to know if you want to be called by your family name."
Schuldig forced himself not to frown as he answered. "Schuldig is fine. Or Schu, if you want to call me that."
Michiel nodded. "Sure, whatever. Hey, is that a flower shop? Wow, those are beautiful flowers. And nice plants too."
The German coughed, hiding a smile as Crawford sighed. "Those are your targets, Michiel."
Her eyes narrowed. "I see." She studied the boys, then pointed. "That one. Or rather, those two. The small one and the one with hair like a rose dipped in blood. They would be the easiest. We take the Chibi and Blood Rose."
"Huh?" Schuldig studied the flower boys/assassins. "I'll be damned. Bombay and Abyssinian are the first ones of Weiss we'll be taking." He smiled rather evilly at the thought. "So when is it they go insane?"
Michiel glared at him. "They won't go insane," she whispered fiercely. "They won't. They're stronger than that!"
The men took a step back at the sudden increase in Michiel's temper. "Well," Crawford started, slightly shaken, "we have a mission tonight. Weiss should show up. You can nab them then."
She nodded, her eyes still narrow. "They won't go insane, you know," Michiel snarled. "They'll be able to deal with it." She took a step toward Schuldig, and he stepped back, a wave of something forcing him back. "They can't go insane. SZ would be too happy if they did."
Schuldig smirked, the thought of SZ unhappy making him very, very happy. "Heh. Sounds like a plan."
Michiel stepped back, her eyes still simmering with anger. "Fine." Her tone said Don't get in my way. "I'll be a part of this mission, definitely. And Schuldig, if you keep thinking that, Mr. Crawford is going to get jealous."
The German spluttered slightly, the half formed German curses spilling out. "I thought you weren't as powerful as I am!"
Michiel gave him a bored look. "You were thinking so loud I'm surprised that Chibi and Blood Rose couldn't hear you." She turned to Crawford. "I have a house I'm suppose to live in while I'm here. Obviously, SZ thinks of you, um... Schwarz, is your group name, right?" At the nod, the girl continued. "SZ thinks of Schwarz as important." This should have been the point where a shadow of her thought crossed her face, but Michiel's face remained bright and bored. "Give me a shout or something when you're going out on your mission."
Crawford watched the girl walk away, her white blonde hair swinging over her black trench coat. "She is NOT what I was expecting." Then, he turned to Schuldig. "And what were you thinking so loud I should have heard?"
Schu smiled, the turn of his lips full of promises as he sent images of rather impossible, but athletic, positions.
"I don't think I'm that flexible, Schuldig..."
