Weiss Kreuz Fan Fiction ❯ Numb ❯ Chapter 1 ( Chapter 1 )
~*~*~*~*~ Chapter 1 ~*~*~*~*~
"Youji-kun!"
Youji blinked as he walked through the door of the Koneko. Omi jumped off the stool he'd been occupying and threw himself into the older man's arms.
"Bishounen!" Youji grinned as the sandy-blonde clung to him.
"Youji-kun, don't EVER leave like that again!" Omi did his best 'chibi o' death' glare on the other assassin, making very little progress.
Youji nodded. "I'm sorry, but you know how it is… a guy like me needs a little action from time to time." He winked, causing the boy in his arms to blush and back away slightly.
"Youji!"
The said man looked up to see Ken standing at the door way. They had obviously been up all night looking for him. Neither looked like they'd had any sleep. As always, Aya tended to fade into the shadows. He wasn't there, looking delighted to have the other member back.
It was Youji's fault after all… he'd gone to a bar alone, gotten drunk, got picked up by a hot guy who somehow managed to worm his way into Youji other than physically. On top of all of this, he never did get around to calling the Koneko to let the other members, his friends, know where he was. Omi was a bearer for punishment; the boy knew how to worry. If Omi worried, Ken worried, Youji swore they were linked mentally, and Aya seemed to somehow ignore the whole thing.
Figured.
"Sorry, I went out, got drunk, got rowdy, I forgot to call." Youji smirked, tipping his glasses down his nose.
Ken rolled his eyes. "Can't you wait until weekends? You know our hours are less then!"
"Hey, I made it before opening, didn't I?" Youji asked, striking a pose.
"It must be the 8th wonder of the world. Youji, up before noon; just imagine," Ken said sarcastically.
Youji snickered. "I think there is already an unofficial 8th wonder of the world…"
Ken blinked.
Youji pointed at his own pants.
Ken blinked.
Omi blushed.
Nervous fidgeting ensued.
"Youji, that's CRUDE." Ken blurted, finally catching the hint.
Balinese laughed. "Can I help it if I'm gifted?"
Ken glowered and turned away, stepping through the door into their living area located behind the storage area of the shop. The main floor had their kitchen, lower bathroom, eating area, and living room. Upstairs was the other bathroom, and 4 bedrooms. The laundry room was located in the lower bathroom, which wasn't used much.
Omi sighed, looking at Youji somewhat happily. "Youji-kun, I'm glad you're back… but please, for my sanity, CALL next time." The boy beamed up at the playboy, and nearly nanced out the back door, bed-cap bouncing the whole way.
Youji lowered his head, hoping to calm the ache. "Ahh, Omi… there won't BE a next time…"
~*~*~*~*~
"Weiss. Yutaka drugs have been experimenting with different drugs in an attempt to find a way to stall aging. In doing this, they've been testing on animals and the occasional person. 4 women, and 10 men have been victims to this testing, children among them."
The 4 members of Weiss watched the video clip as Persia went through the mission. After the clip, Manx walked over and turned off the television.
"So, who's in?" She asked, looking everyone over.
Youji glared at the TV as if it were the gate to Yutaka. Women were involved, so he was in. Omi shuddered at the thought of animals being abused. Aya narrowed his eyes somewhat at children, like his sister, being tortured. Ken too, was more concerned about children.
"I'm in." Youji said, sighing slightly.
Manx nodded. "Omi?"
"Un!" His eyes glittered, glowing in the darkness of the basement.
"Me too," Ken added.
Manx smiled slightly, turning towards Aya. The redhead nodded curtly, canting his eyes so he could look at Youji.
"Aa."
"Good. Get ready, I'll leave the information with Bombay. Remember, your mission is to kill Yutaka, free anyone or anything being kept there, and, as always, gather any information you can that might aid you in a future mission." Manx picked up her manila folder and quietly exited through the back way, leaving the four boys alone to their thoughts.
Ken scratched his neck. "So, we better get working on a game plan, ne?"
"This isn't soccer, Ken." Youji said, somewhat snippy.
Ken turned hurt eyes on Balinese. "I didn't mean it was. Che, what's up your ass? Or rather, what isn't…"
Youji moved at the speed of light, shoving the younger man against the wall. The two of them hadn't gotten physical since the first time Youji had stepped through the doors of the Koneko and Ken had attacked him. Ken had later repeated that with Aya, who didn't take it nearly as well. Apparently it was tradition for the ex. J-Leaguer.
"Youji-kun!" Omi's forlorn voice rang out. "Stop! Stop it!"
Aya narrowed his eyes at the display, choosing to ignore it for the time being, or, until he needed to leave and they were still blocking the only exit.
Omi ran up to the pair, attempting to get between them. "Stop it! Now!"
"What's your problem, Youji!?" Ken shouted, trying to get out from under the taller man's powerful grip. "Let me GO!"
"What gives you any right to question what I do and who I do it with!? Is it any of your business!?" Youji backed up, taking Ken with him. "Is it!?" Youji threw Ken over his leg, and watched with a detached horror as the younger boy flipped in mid air and fell onto the main table, smashing through it.
Aya raised his eyes quickly to Youji's, shielding himself from the wood splinters that flew up at him from the broken table that lay no more than 3 feet away.
"Kudou."
Youji's eyes jumped to the one who'd spoken, the horror still evident there.
"Ken-kun!" Omi screamed, falling to his knees where the J-Leaguer was struggling to raise himself, attempting to ready himself for another attack.
"Youji-kun, what are you THINKING!?" Omi screamed at him, wiping the blood from Ken's hand with worry. There didn't appear to be any outward damage besides his hand, but still…
"Kudou."
Youji looked back to Aya, the redhead's eyes were burning.
"I suggest you calm yourself down, if we're going into a mission, I don't want to have to worry about saving you if you do something stupid because someone says something you don't like." Aya made to walk past him to the stairs, but stopped when Youji grabbed his arm.
"What makes you think I need your help?" Youji asked, not hostile, but there was a hint of warning in his voice.
Aya glared, throwing the other off of him. "Don't touch me."
"I'm asking you a question!"
Aya ignored him, walking up the stairs to prepare himself for the mission. Omi, as always, would come up with a suitable plan and prep them an hour before they left. They had the time…
"AYA! ANSWER ME! I'm talk-" Youji fell forward with a heavy force as something solid collided with his back.
Ken straddled the back of Youji's hips, holding his shoulders down with as much force as his body would permit without breaking bones.
"Itai! Get off me!" Youji glowered, struggling, through he could feel the bones in his shoulders grinding.
"Ken-kun, stop! Stop this!" Omi ran to him, grabbing his shoulder and trying to pry him off of Youji.
Ken threw him off calmly. "Not until I find out what made you think you could throw me through a TABLE on a MISSION NIGHT!"
Youji growled, reaching back as far as he could, squeezing Ken's bad hand, causing more blood to flow from the wound.
"AYA! AYA HELP!" Omi yelled up the stairs, going back to break the other two up. "PLEASE! STOP! AYA-KUN!" He was answered by silence from upstairs, and muttered curses from beside him.
Omi stared at the two for a moment before deciding to take Ken's trick and use it on him. Using all of his speed, he ran at the brunette, launching himself and hitting him squarely in the chest. The momentum caused them both to tumble backwards, and gave Youji the time he needed to stand and reach for his watch.
"Ken-kun, Youji-kun, STOP IT!" Omi screamed, perched on top of Ken.
Ken stared at Omi in disbelief, not believing the little thing had caused him the fall backwards with such force. Ken knew the muscle the hid beneath the small frame, but he still couldn't take breath easily.
"You must stop, we can't fight! We can't afford to right now, we have too much stuff we have to see to! We're supposed to be friends, not enemy's! We need to use our strength in numbers to overcome the bad guys! We can't just… KILL each other!" Omi took a breath, staring from Youji to Ken. "Now, apologize, so I can start on the plans for tonight. I don't need to worry about you two attacking each other behind my back."
Youji sighed and dropped his hands. "I'm sorry, Ken. I had a bad day, I shouldn't have taken it out on you… Are you alright?"
Ken glared somewhat, but also conceded at the dangerous look Omi gave him.
"I'm alright. Make sure it doesn't happen again, though. And you pay for the new table!"
Youji smirked, a hint of humour in his eyes again. "But you touched it last!" He mock-complained.
Ken rolled his eyes. "Soooo not funny. Alright, Omi, we won't kill each other. Let me up?"
Omi complied, raising himself from the other boy. "Good! Now, go clean up, I'll have these plans ready in an hour. If I need help, I'll call you."
Ken and Youji nodded, the tension between them not yet dissipated. Youji went up the stairs first, terribly aware that Ken could attack him easily from the angle. They would have to talk before they went out on the mission, had to clear the air. Besides… maybe Ken knew who this 'Mastermind' person was… though he was sure, almost like a warning, that he already knew.
~*~*~*~*~
"Mastermind, are you and Berserker in position?" The rattling voice of Oracle rang out clearly in Mastermind's head.
Schuldig had linked everyone mentally so they could better communicate with one another.
"In place, Oracle." Procedure said that they had to use their codenames while on a mission, even while linked telepathically, just incase someone sharing the same gift as Schuldig came across them.
Farfarello crouched beside Schuldig. "Weiss… I've been looking forward to them for a long time."
Schuldig nodded, somewhat curtly.
"They still don't know who we are?" Farfarello asked.
Schuldig shook his head. Weiss and Schwarz had only met each other once. They exchanged no information, but Schuldig knew it all. 'I've seen your faces, now I have your lives' and all that. The German had only told Crawford the name of their group: 'Weiss'. After finding this out, Schuldig found the name Schwarz was very ironic for them.
White and Black.
Black the stain on white.
Who would win?
Schuldig shook his head, watching the shadows near the side of the building where he and Farfarello were situated. It was dark for the most part; no light graced this side of the facility. A wood fence was the only thing between Yutaka and the forest beyond. Weiss would come this way.
Crawford and Nagi were on the opposite corner, some 300 feet down, on the same side of the building, ready to back up Mastermind and Berserker if they needed it. Schuldig and Farfarello worked together, not with the others. The two 'insane' members worked well, they both had the same mind frame. Farfarello wasn't a madman, as many thought, he was incredibly intelligent.
"I see movement," Farfarello said aloud, relaying the information both mentally and vocally.
Schuldig looked to where he was pointing, and sure enough, he could see the tall grass move through the large gaps in the fence. A few moments later, a black-cloaked figure vaulted the fence, followed by 3 others.
"Abyssinian, the main entrance is guarded by too many camera's. If we follow this back way, it will take us to a small window that will lead to the basement. We can make our way to the top floor from there." Bombay said, still crouched from his landing.
Abyssinian nodded curtly, eyes searching the dark walkway. He saw nothing, but still he sensed something…
"Balinese, do you see anything?" Abyssinian asked, not trusting his eyes.
Balinese searched the darkness, his eyes coming to rest on two darker spots, no more than 20 feet away.
"He knows where we are, let's go!" Farfarello spoke mentally, pulling Schuldig from his deep stare of the beautiful man he'd come to love.
"There!" Balinese pointed, grasping his garrote tightly.
Schuldig and Farfarello came out from the shadows calmly, Farfarello with his trademark glinting eye, and Schuldig with a smirk.
"Good evening, what a coincidence, bumping into you here." Schuldig said, trying not to look a Youji, lest he become distracted.
"You!" Bombay said, notching an arrow into place.
Balinese stared at the redhead, feeling a stir in his heart… What in the world?
Schuldig looked at him, catching the thought. Their eyes locked, something Schuldig had been avoiding. For a brief moment they both let the rest of the world go and lost themselves in each other's eyes.
"You're the same guys from last time!" Siberian grated, stepping forward to act as a shield for Omi.
Schuldig tore his eyes from Youji's, ignoring the pain in his heart from the loss. He raised a delicate eyebrow at the deep gash on Siberian's hand. A quick dip into his mind affirmed that Youji had thrown him through a table after and offending comment about Youji's sex life. It appeared Youji remembered the love, just not who.
That must have been frustrating.
Almost as frustrating as knowing not being able to acknowledge it.
"Enough chit-chat. You want in here but I'm afraid we can't allow this," Farfarello smirked.
This was the rather inappropriate moment where Nagi and Crawford chose to show up. In Schuldig's mind, this couldn't get any worse. I don't want to hurt Youji… But either I will, or Crawford will…
Crawford, hearing the thought in their still linked minds, smirked. Schuldig looked at the other member's of Schwarz in panic. They all turned accusing eyes on him; Nagi particularly.
Maybe it was Crawford's cruel and sadistic side, maybe Crawford was looking for an opportunity to screw Schuldig up as he had screwed him up. After all, Crawford's filing cabinet was very tidy, and an annoyed-at-Crawford Schuldig would do a bit of damage.
"Well, Mastermind… don't you think you should eliminate them?" Crawford said dryly, conveying no emotion.
Schuldig knew better, he could feel the superiority pouring from their leader in waves. The German turned slowly to look at Youji, who's face was white and twisted in a grimace.
"It was you!?"
Schuldig was knocked over as Youji launched himself at him. The other members of Schwarz were so shocked that the lanky man had knocked down Mastermind that they were almost too late to react to the assault that Weiss supplied. I whirl of blades between Siberian and Berserker, a dodging of telekinetic waves for Bombay and Prodigy, and yet another mocking display of dodging between Oracle and Abyssinian.
Schuldig stared up at the man perched on his chest. Youji was crying.
"Of all the people it could have been… why did it have to be you?" Youji whispered, pain clear on his face.
Schuldig shook his head, wiping the other's tears. "I've been asking myself that same question. You won't find an answer, believe me."
A bright flash illuminated the sky, a scream echoed in their ears. A sharp kick to Youji's temple, and the man was unconscious on top of the Schwarz member.
Schuldig swallowed his forlorn cry when he looked up and saw the look Crawford was giving him. Farfarello picked Youji up and slung him over his shoulder, then proceeded to help Schuldig up.
The telepath looked at Crawford blankly, but the elder man's look said it all.
Schuldig was in so much shit that he may as well be in a septic tank.

O.O;;; Wow.. uhm.. I breached the 'meeting' a bit too early, but ooooh, don't think it's anywhere NEAR over. *cackle* R/R! I need feedback to live.
Schuldig: -_- I am so out of character. I would NEVER love him.
Youji: WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN!?
Mastermind: o.o Uh… Sorry?
Crawford: And I wouldn't tolerate that kind of behavior.
Mastermind: But, Schwarz wouldn't function without Schuldig.
Crawford: Hn.
Mastermind: So the muses hate it… ugh, well, their opinions don't matter! It's you, beloved reader, whose opinions matter! What can I change? Do you have any particular way you want to story to swing?
Youji: Well, we know what way the story swings.
Mastermind: v_v;; I'm not talking about the sexuality of the story, you idiot.
Youji: … Oh.
