“Ow! He hit me!” Schuldig howled from the back of the store.
“I should have hit you harder, crybaby!” Brad said, wishing for enough room in the small shop to swing on his whining teammate properly.
“I don't like you! You're mean!”
Before he could swing again, Brad found himself picked up and held at arm's length by Farf, who was laughing.
“Put me down. I'm gonna shoot you as soon as Nagi gives me back my gun!”
Farf turned an amused grin on the horrified shopkeepers, who were staring in disbelief at the odd little bunch that had invaded their store. “Scrappy little thing innit he?” he said, carrying a kicking and screaming child out the door and into the street.
Nagi turned his gaze to Omi. “Maybe we should take them to the park or something and let them work off all the extra energy?”
“That might not be a bad idea. I think we have enough clothes for them to last out the week. At least I hope so,” Omi said, listening to mini-Oracle screaming and cursing outside. “And he grew up to be the ice prince, how?”
“Don't ask me. I'm still trying to figure out how that soft souled little boy grew up to be Schuldig,” Nagi said, approaching his teammate, who was still holding his arm and whimpering. Oddly enough, Aya had gotten there first and had one arm around Schuldig's shoulders and was leading him toward the front of the shop.
“C'mon, they've got games and stuff next door. We'll go look at those. Okay?”
“'Kay,” Schuldig mumbled.
Nagi turned an amazed look to Omi, who shrugged. “Who knew Aya had a compassionate bone in his body.”
“This is entirely too weird,” Nagi said.
“Anybody seen Yohji?” Ken asked, looking around for a bright flash of white blond about three feet tall.
The question was answered by a distinctly feminine scream from the area of the dressing rooms. All three of them rolled their eyes and headed that way. They found Yohji on his knees, with a magnifying glass in hand being glared at by a woman who was holding a shirt to her chest.
“Yohji, what are you doing?”
“I was following a bug,” he said, blinking big green eyes innocently at them then the woman. “It went under the door so I went after it. I didn't know she didn't have any clothes on.”
Omi and Nagi hustled Yohji out of harm's way and left Ken to deal with the nearly apoplectic woman. Nagi rubbed his temples and sighed. It was only ten a.m. and most of the older/younger members of the group were already exhausted.
“How are we going to get through a week of this?” Omi voiced what he'd been thinking.
“No idea. But I do know one thing.”
“What's that?”
“I'm never having children.”
“Amen, my brother.”
