"That's him. Fits the description perfectly." finally assured in his findings, Omi closed his lap top, which was spent from its hours of use. They'd been in this same hiding spot going over each description piece by piece, making sure that there was no mistake. And frankly, Omi would rather be home than in some bush.

"And you're sure?" Aya sighed as he asked the question for about the millionth time today. Cold, stoic, Aya was not easily surprised and Omi thought with a smirk how nice it was to see that he was also vulnerable to human emotion. He glanced again at their target and still couldn't come to grips with the fact that Omi was laying before him. Crimson hair bled from their target's scalp in a beautiful mane. Even while doing homework, dancing forest green eyes giggled in mirth, though neither could be sure what was quite so amusing. And had it not been for obvious reasons, Aya would have almost missed the fact that their target was a male.

"For the last time, Aya-kun, yes. Give it up. I'm going home" Omi said, using Aya's bewilderment at the statement as a pause to gather his equipment and prepare for escape. "Whether you see it or not, that guy is definitely your brother." And before Omi could hear a desperate plea for a reaffirmation, he snuck through the bushes, leaving as quietly as they came.

'This isn't possible. How can have a brother....?' Aya continued to ask himself as he sat on the firm grass, mulling over all the possible ways in which this could be some mistake.

Kurama lounged comfortably with his back against the trunk of a tree. His red hair lay behind him as he decided to close the book for a moment and examine his peeping toms.

They'd been sitting there for a while, and Kurama was quickly becoming curious as to how he'd become the object of their study. Sure, he was beautiful, but he wasn't something to waste a day over simply to admire from a distance.

Apparently these two were used to this sort of thing, as he hadn't even noticed until he reached out to the plants within a few yards radius and discovered their proximity. From his sparing glances that he would chance, he was finally able to appraise his worshipers.

One was quite young, a lovely teen blonde, huddled over his computer as he glanced at Kurama, punched numbers hurriedly into the keyboard of his laptop, and seemingly debated with his partner. Ah..his partner. In the teen's companion, is where Kurama found he had an interest. Short red hair framed his reflective expression as he sat watching numbly as his friend typed information that Kurama could only hope to guess. He carried a katana, it was almost hidden from view by his jacket but Kurama, being the thief he once was, barely let it escape his attention. 'If I'd been my old Youko self, I may have played with the redhead. But he does have that katana...It makes me wonder what this is all about.'

As Kurama was musing over the possibilities of such beautiful spectators, he noticed someone land in the tree above him. As he glanced upward, trying in his best efforts to make it seem as if he were merely resting from his reading to his observers, he found the newest addition to the scene. Ruby eyes, a body many could only dream about, and a starburst in his hair that truly made him what he was to the fox. Hiei.

"Fox, you realize there are humans watching you? I've noticed demons, especially foxes, tend to lose their senses in their old age." Hiei directed the sentence as quietly as he could to Kurama, hoping not to attain attention from Kurama's lone onlooker.

By a stroke of luck, Kurama noticed that his spectator had finally decided to follow his comrade, and in his exasperation threw the book so he could stretch. They'd been there for hours and Kurama kept the good student facade until they left. Now he could finally relax.

"I am not old. And yes, I did notice the pair scrutinizing me. I wonder why.. I'm not all that beautiful...." Kurama loved being conceited around his cynical friend.

"No fox, you aren't beautiful at all. " he said with a smirk, watching the way Kurama's playful attitude was changed into a death glare towards the miniature youkai. "I suppose you were too busy thinking about how beautiful you were to notice their reiki. It's pretty high, but no where near the idiot's."

"Well I don't see the harm. If it's serious, I'll deal with it in time."

"I don't know Kurama. Just be careful."

"I'm always careful."

"Hn" and with that, the jaganshi vanished as quickly as he came.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ < p>Aya stopped at the doorstep, breathing in deeply as he steadied himself for what he was going to do. This was so unlike him. He was dressed very neatly in a white short shirt, with a nifty collar, and black pants. He usually didn't aim to please anyone, but this was a special occasion. This was the day he found a new family.
He rung the doorbell, taking the last few moments to appraise himself. He wasn't wearing a suit and tie, but he felt it was quite acceptable. As the door open, he felt at least slightly confident, once more.
"Excuse me my good man, may I help you?" A man in his mid years came to answer the door. To say he was in the least bit naive for thinking the redhead would open the door would be an understatement, but Aya covered his surprise well.
"I'm looking for Minamino Shiori. Does she live here?" For once, Aya had felt a need to give a certain amount of respect to him and made himself sound as polite as possible.
"Oh my wife, Hatanaka Shiori. We've been married for some time. Do come in, I'll tell her to come downstairs. " Leaving the door ajar and motioning Aya into the kitchen, he walked cautiously and took in his surroundings. Not exactly richly furnished, but it's orderliness gave it a certain elegance that money couldn't ever achieve. Upon walking into the kitchen, Aya quietly sat himself at the table, waiting in apprehension.
Kurama was once again busy, as always. Lately, he's been busying himself in trying to isolate the fluid that could cause his transformation into his youko state. He'd been fortunate enough to grow some of the plants common for transformations from the Makai and was able to grow them in Ningenkai, but with all his efforts he still couldn't uncover the secret in his transformation. As he carried a pot to his desk, the air shimmered behind him as Hiei made his appearance, using the window, as always. When Kurama turned around, he saw Hiei resting nonchalantly on his bed, resting his head on one knee, the other leg outstretched. In this one moment, Hiei almost looked child-like, innocence written all over his facial expression. Noticing the attention on himself, Hiei opened one lazy ruby eye with a smirk, staring at Kurama.
"Ah, Hiei. What's the occasion? You wouldn't come by if you could help it," Kurama's attention left the plant as he focused on the Jaganshi. Hiei'd been fighting, that was certain. His cloak had slight tears and mud smudges and his hair was slightly disheveled. 'Hiei.......you're not as old as me, but still old enough. And still can't keep your clothes clean... ' Kurama smiled at the thought. Contrary to common belief, Kurama did train often, going to troubled areas in Yomi's region to test himself on the chance opportunities when he could escape his ningen responsibilities. He needed the power to protect his family; he couldn't afford getting out of shape.
"Hn." 'If only you knew, dumb fox.' "The red haired ningen from the park is here. I saw him come in through the front door." Hiei took in Kurama's appearance with a quick glance, not wanting to give him any ideas. 'The last thing I need is him getting that idea.' Kurama apparently decided not to wear his trademark Japanese tunic today. Instead, he was wearing comfortable black khakis and a white dress shirt. The uppermost buttons were left open, and Hiei had to stop himself from staring too long at the exposed creamy skin. The last thing he wanted to do was give the fox any ideas, so he turned his head and looked for a new vantage point.
"He's here? Now this is getting strange...." Kurama's brows knit in bewilderment. Why was this guy invading his personal life....'If he's here to hurt my family, I'll shred that ningen to pieces!' Kurama sighed to himself. Seemed as if the youko was getting tired of being pent up in a human body. Just as he was going to go downstairs to see what this was about, his brother Shuichi walked up the stairs. As usual, Hiei dashed with inhuman speed behind the closet.
"Oniichan, someone's here to see you." Shuichi had a smile on his face and waved Kurama downstairs. Looking once back to Hiei, he headed downstairs to unravel this mystery once and for all.
Aya watched as his "mother" perused the papers repeatedly, making sure that was no mistake. 'Mother....it's going to be hard thinking I've had no mother for years and then having a new one.' He'd gotten all the paperwork from Persia. Apparently, Shiori had previously been married to Aya's father and had two children, Aya and Ran. But the woman who was supposed to be his mother and previous best friend of Ran's real mother didn't approve of the marriage and purposefully had a car accident with her. Hoping to kill her, she found out that Shiori was quite fine, except with what looked to be amnesia. Aya's stepmother then took Shiori to a different section of the country, seeing to it that she could have Aya's dad to herself. According to police reports, Shiori was never seen again. And for the sake of the children, Aya's father had his new wife act as Shiori, much to the ambitious wench's satisfaction. Fortunately, Omi was able to make him fake papers; he could never reveal this painful information to his mother. 'That whore destroyed my family, and had the nerve to give us the idea that she was our mother. Curse her soul.' As Aya was about to give a trademark scowl, Shiori looked up from the papers, tears welling in her eyes as she stood up from her chair. She pulled Aya up in a warm embrace, and for a second, Aya thought he would cry too.
"Oh son, this makes me so happy! Oh to have yet another son, and a daughter!" she barely was able to exclaim through her constricted voice. To have even more children, and one such as this Ran, she was enthusiastic beyond compare. It was in the middle of her teary embrace with her new son, that Kurama made his appearance.
Aya was simply breathless. It seemed that his brother was even more breathtakingly handsome up close. He looked older now, then he did at the park with his magenta school uniform. He looked into Kurama's eyes as he was being hugged tightly by Shiori. He was met with curiosity and confusion.
"Shuichi! Do I have a surprise for you!" With Shiori's previously seeming unwillingness to let go of Aya until he could no longer breathe, it was surprised that she let go of him just as quickly to drag Shuichi towards his new sibling.
"Shuichi, meet your new brother! " To say Shuichi was speechless would be an understatement, and seeing Kurama flabbergasted was more than Aya could have asked for. 'Guess it's time to play big brother.' Wanting to give Kurama some affirmation of what he had just learned from his mother, Aya grabbed him in a tight embrace. 'Oooohh this feels good. I don't usually hug anyone....'
"Oh to see my sons together makes me happier than I thought possible!" She was quickly feeling out of the reunion, so Aya admitted her, only giving Kurama slightly more of himself than his mother.
