Part 1:

HOW TO KILL A TELEPATH…

"What the hell is all this about?" a very grumpy Yohji asked as he half sulked, half tripped down the stairs to the mission room. It was barley past nine in the morning, and it was his day off. He by all rights should still be in bed. The fact that an impromptu meeting had been called by Manx was not improving his mood.
"This is about an effective way to bring Schwartz down for good." The redhead’s irritated voice reached his ears. Yohji let out a small groan of indifference and sank in the closet chair, pushing his dark glasses farther up his face to block out the dreadful light of the room.
"Yohji, you were supposed to be down here an hour ago." Ken grumbled as he shot the man in question a dirty look from the other side of the table where he sat next to Omi. A small 'humph' was the agreement made by Aya as he sat on Yohji’s left. After Yohji took in a good minute and a half of angry stares, he got fed up.
"Okay, I'm here, lets get this over with." He complained as he slumped his head forward on to his hands, chin resting on palms. He didn't stay that way very long though as another person entered the room to stand behind Manx. Yohji instantly sat up and became highly attentive. He even went as far as to push his glasses up in to his hair to try and make himself look more presentable. It didn't go unnoticed by his teammates, as all of them, Manx and Aya included, rolled their eyes.
"This is Lie Kaeri. Your newest teammate." Manx said, motioning to the young woman. At her name the woman took a small step forward and gave a slight bow, her blonde hair falling gently past her shoulders. She was about the same height as Manx and had a small build, a slight frame that made her look frail and weak. It was easy to see too, as the clothes she wore were made to accent it. A small yellow tank top, with a single white daisy in the middle of it clung to her chest in all the right places. A pair of khakis that looked raged enough to have fallen out of Ken's closet, except that were a tight form fitting, covered her legs. Bangs in desperate need of cutting clouded her face, hiding her eyes from them. Her face held the mask of indifference, her lips placed tightly together as if holding back a smile almost.
"Kaeri, that’s a weird name to give somebody.(*1)" Ken said simply. The young woman nodded in agreement before speaking.
"If it were Japanese, I suppose it would be. But it's not, and neither am I." her voice was sweet, but nearly forced to be that way. It tried, but didn't succeed in hiding a certain level of pain, hurt, and hate with every word she spoke. It reminded Yohji a lot of Aya actually, before they had killed Takatori.
"No, Lie-san is an agent that has been working with Kritiker for sometime now. She has mostly been stationed in America. We feel that her help will be influential in bringing down Schwarz though. And upon explaining the situation to her, she was more then happy to help." Manx explained to the boys. After hearing that all three turned to stare at her, Yohji already had been doing nothing but. It was him too that stated the obvious.
"Ah, Manx, she don't LOOK too happy." he drawled out. Already putting on a flirting twist.
"I have my reasons for being the way I am. And give it up, your too young for me." Kaeri told him. Yohji gawked at that. He hadn't even started to use his moves yet, and he was already turned down.
"What do you mean, too young?" he asked her desperately.
"I'm 24, you Balinese are 23. I don't like younger men." she said with a quick efficiency that was already beginning to get on his nerves.
"Now if that’s done." Manx said loudly, clearing her thought to get their attention back. "Katz, as her code name will be, is going to be the most effective weapon against Schwarz you will have."
"And why is that?" came a breath of ice from Aya. He liked facing off with them, fist to fist, nail to nail, always hungry for blood.
"Because as good as you all may be, within ten seconds of me walking on to the battleground, their telepath, Mastermind is it, will be dead." she told Aya simply. A faint smile ghosting at her lips over the fact she had him so riffled before it vanished back away. At her words all of Weiss went in to a slight uproar of questions and accusations. None of them willing to believe she could do what she was saying. To do what they yet couldn’t.
"EVERYONE CALM DOWN!" Manx yelled at the group, once again gaining their attention. "How much do you know about telepathy?" she asked them, slightly side tracking them in order to make her point clear.
"Only what Kritiker has told us, and what we've experienced." Omi piped up, a faint blush hinting his checks at he end of his sentence. He knew first hand the effects of telepathy.
"Well, all telepaths have one common weakness. They cant constantly be in someone else’s head with out picking up a little of there emotions as well. Causing them to all have an empathic part. They block it, or discard it though. Never truly learning to deal with it. The emotions don’t stay around long enough to cause them any problems." Manx told them.
"So?" came the response from all of the flower boys at once.
"So, if suddenly attacked by a wide rang of emotions in there head, along with the constant thoughts they always have running through, there shields would crumble and if the attack continued, they would be left with mush for brains." Manx finished.
"I still don’t follow." a very confused Ken spoke up.
"The best empaths cant just read emotions, they can absorb them and project them at will. The very best can lower all buffers and throw a tidal wave of emotions at someone. Katz is BETTER then the very best." Manx had a very smug smile on her face now. Giddy over the chance to see the so called superhuman group fall to there knees.
"You're telling me that she's an empath?" Ken questioned, staring down the woman in disbelief.
"I would appreciate it if you would quite refereeing to me in the third person. I am right in the room. And I can tell by all of your doubts a demonstration is in order." She said simply to them. Very quietly she walked over to the cluttered computer table and picked up Ken’s soccer ball. She sauntered back over to the table, moving her hips in a way that even the playboy Yohji hadn't been able to get down pat yet. She gracefully tossed the ball to Ken.
"Ken, you have the day off. You have nothing to do but go and play soccer. Your team will meet you at the park in an hour, I'd leave now if I were you." she told him. Ken’s eyes bugged out of his head and he didn't think twice about questioning her. He bolted up and started lacing up his shoes over by the door. Next she moved to stand again by the computer.
"Omi, have you saved this report yet?" she asked, looking at the 15 page document the boy had written for school.
"No, why?" he asked her, but at that same second she turned the computer off. Losing his entire document. Omi looked ready to cry as he dashed for the machine. Quickly she shot a hardened gaze to Ken, then another at Omi, then back to Ken. Ken stopped all of a sudden in the process of heading out the door, and dropped his soccer ball before moving to take his shoes off again. Omi had collapsed in front of the computer in a fit of laughter.
"Ah, guys, what’s going on?" Yohji asked his friends, worrying for there sanity.
"I don't feel like soccer." Ken mumbled.
"Who cares about the stupid computer!" Omi managed between giggles. Kaeri stood back with a satisfied look on her face.
"You transfer emotions from person to person, what good..." Aya started, before he was cut off.
"I can do much more then that." she told him, sending both him and Yohji sharp glances, much like the ones she had used on Ken and Omi. Suddenly Yohji burst out in tears, burying his head in his arms. Aya started giggling out of control, and even let out a large 'wa-who' and did a couple of cartwheels. Finally Manx turned to the newest Weiss member with an exasperated look. Kaeri gave a gentle shrug before closing her eyes and letting out a long deep breath, releasing her hold on everyone.
"Now as you can see, Mastermind will die next time you met him." Manx told the very peeved boys. And they had no choice but to agree. There were quickly dismissed, and Manx left as well. Just before Kaeri had a chance to escape back outside though, Yohji stopped her.
"Hey, wait a second. I got a question or too." he told her.
"Yes." Yohji gave a quick glance around the room to make sure he was alone. Knowing that he was the only one who would have noticed.
"What's this?" he asked. Suddenly his voice and eyes going cold as he picked up her arm and motioned to the long lines of faint needle tracks that ran along it. She quickly shook his hand off.
"My past. Don't think it was ever easy knowing exactly what someone feels all the time. Don’t worry, it won’t interfere. I'm not the same person." She told him sternly, finally giving him a chance to see her eyes too as she looked directly in to his as she talked. Though he still couldn’t tell the color. All he could tell was that they were dead. Long since closed off to the world.
Once in the alleyway behind the building she took a breather and rested against the wall. Using her powers still took a lot out of her. The more she used them, the worse it was, though she'd never let on. She had always been empathic, though mild. It had been nearly ten years ago to the date that her powers had bloomed. She cautiously fingered the two scars near her heart through her tank, her other hand going to high on her forehead to the third, the reason she wore long bangs. She had been shot three times and left for dead. But it had been that instant that she for once, in what had been a miserable life, wanted to live. Her powers bloomed and she fed off of the strength of every person around her, but mostly the one American bastard that had shot her. She some how lived. And sat her sights on revenge. Doing all she could to track down the man who had so badly wanted her dead, and kill him herself. A part of her that was hidden away knew that there had once been another reason she wanted to find him. To get something back. But now she couldn't remember. Ten years of feeding off of emotions had done that to her. As happy as a person may seem, inside they were always made up of hate and anger. Slowly that constant hate and anger she had felt grew inside of her till all she could think about was revenge. And now finally she would get it.
