Weiss Kreuz Fan Fiction ❯ Undistinguished UnderScore ❯ Chapter 31
"What do you MEAN we can't go rescue Abyssinnian and Balinese?!" Zeva slammed her fist down on top of the glossy desk. It was late morning and she and Neese now stood in front of the desk of Persia as Neese had convinced her ambitious sister to wait till morning to confront him.
"It's like I explained, Calico. There is no need to rescue Abyssinnian or Balinese sense his life is in the hands of Abyssinnian."
"Persia! How can you sit there and say that?! Their my team mates! I'm-"
"Stop you're self there, Zeva Varie Andonius. They are not you're teammates, not yet! I have yet to establish you as truly a part of the Weiss."
"Persia.." Zeva growled with clenched fists while Neese stood silent beside her. "So, is that all I am to you, you're little pawn to toss back and forth?" She sneered at her own words Persia's silence speaking everything that needed to be said. "I see..heh..why am I not surprised by you, Takatori? Somehow I find it hard to believe I man of you're nature ever worked for my father, yet at the same time..the reality of it is that you remind me of him." Zeva turned her back to lean against the desk, a light smile drifting over her lips. "No matter, the past is nothing more than what it is and I will prove to you, one day, to be a worthy of Weiss." She pushed herself off the desk and began to walk toward the door, Neese following behind her.
"I'm sure you will, Calico." Persia whispered to himself, a smirk growing on his lips as he listened to the two young women leave.
Once outside and away from Kritiker head quarters Neese glanced up at Zeva. "I didn't now Takatori worked for father.." Her voice almost distant.
"Neaither did I, Persia was the one who told me. I guess that's why he even considered taking me in, that basterd. But him and Dad met a couple of times apparently, but that doesn't matter now, what matters is the safety of Aya and Yohji."
"Just don't get to caught up in this, Zeva."
"What do you mean, Neese?"
"Don't make this an act just to deem you're self worthy to Persia."
"Watch it Neese, you know me better than that. I may be human, but I'm not that caught up in myself. Besides, if I am nothing more than a pawn to Persia then technically I fall under no set system of rules or orders. So what Persia says, technically has no hold over me just yet." Zeva winked with a clever gleam glinting through her eyes at discovering the loop whole.
"Right, whatever you say Z. So you going to meet Ken now, or what?"
"Hai, I might as well. But I think it's better if you stay outa this one, they still have no clue about you."
"True enough, if I had to suffer so do they, damnit!"
"A little bitter, I see?" Zeva smiled sheepishly through her words.
"Yeah yeah yeah, well I'll meet you later. Just make sure to fill me in when you get back." Zeva nodded and continued down the sidewalk as Neese rounded a corner to take her back to the apartments.

Ken stepped outside, dressed casually in pale blue work out pants with a matching jacket, a black shirt clothing the rest of him. He stretched, reaching up to the sky before relaxing to breathe in the warm morning air while closing his eyes. Despite everything that had happened last night, it was a fairly peaceful morning, and somehow he had slept rather well.
"KenKen!" A cherry voice penetrated his ears and his eyes flew open to see Yuriko standing a few feet away.
"Yu..Yuriko!" Ken beamed, happy to see the red head for the first time in a few days. She ran up to him, her face glowing with joy as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Good Morning, Ken!" Yuriko spoke lightly in an uplifting voice as she planted a soft kiss on Ken's warm cheek a small flushing running through his face.
"Good morning, Yuriko." Ken spoke softly to her as he looked into her tender face.
"Ne! I'm glad you're awake Ken!" Yuriko tugged on his wrist. "I've got a great day planned for us today!"
Ken felt his face loose some of it's color "Us?" His comment replied with the girlish laughter of Yuriko.
"Of course `us' silly! It wouldn't be a date if just one of us went!" She pulled on Ken's wrist again to get him moving. "Come on silly! We've got a lot to do together!"
"Yu..Yuriko! Wait! I'm suppose to meet Zeva today." Ken pulled his wrist out of Yuriko's grasp, and looked down at the ground feeling guilty.
"Oh PLEASE Ken!" Yuriko begged "I'm only here for a few more days! Can't you explain to her the situation? I'm sure she'd understand!"
"I..mmm.." Ken turned his head to the side, his eyes distant with confusion.
"Please Ken.." Yuriko's blue eyes trembling with pity.
"Just..give me a minute." Ken turned his back and ran inside the shop, with Kym leaning against a sidewall her arms folded, head down.
"You're seriously going to go with her? After you told Z you'd meet her?" Kym's eyes glaring through murky shadows.
"Yuriko's only here for a few more days..Zeva will understand."
"If she doesn't bury Yuriko first."
"Please Kym? I feel guilty enough as it is..if Zeva does come and I'm not back yet. Just tell her what you know."
"Alright fine, but don't expect to defend you're sorry butt or side with Yuriko because I want to strangle that woman like no other!"
Ken smiled at Kym as he placed his hand on the doorknob "Arigato, KymKim." He stepped back out into the sunlight, with Yuriko awaiting his return with a bright smile that almost melted his heart.

Zeva walked down the side walk to the Koneko, just missing Ken leave with Yuriko. She approached the door, tapping on it gently, embracing the soft appearance of Kym.
"Ohiyo, Zeva-Chan!"
"Ohiyo, Kym-Chan. Ne, is Ken here?"
Kym sighed, leaning against the door frame "Afraid you just missed him, he left with Yuriko of all people a few minutes ago."
"N..nani?? Yur..iko? But he said-"
"Yeah I know, don't be to pissed at him. Yuriko's apparently in town for a few more days and she planned this big together with him today without telling him in advance."
`He told you? Or you were listening in again?' Zeva smirked letting her thought leak over into Kym's mind, a mischievous sparkle going over her eyes with Kym mimicking her expression.
`Telepathy's a bitch, hu?' Kym responding through the link she shared with the vibrant red head. "Come on inside, I'll explain everything Ken would have." Kym spoke with the use of her vocal cords, breaking the mental connection.

"What?! So Aya MENT to get captured?" Zeva fumed as she began to pace along the soft carpet of Kym's bedroom.
Kym leaned back on her bed, propping herself up on her elbows as she watched Zeva pace with fury and confusion. "Apparently so, but he won't tell us what's up."
"Nothing's making sense, Aya says to come for him yet he has no idea where he is and Persia says not to go after them. If this mission was to mess with my head, they have undoubtedly succeeded. Has Aya tried to contact any of you today?" Zeva stopped her pacing to look up with eyes of emerald jewels.
"No, Ken or Omi's communicator hasn't even made the least bit of static." Kym's eyes dropped to the midnight blue comforter that lay sprawled comfortably over her bed before her eyes drifted a dried yellow rose that sat quietly in a crystal vase Zeva's eye's following hers. "I hope Aya is ok.." Kym voice soft and wispy as she tucked her knees under her chin in self-comfort.
"Ne, did Aya-Kun give you that rose?" Zeva's eyes dancing with life as she imagined the silent, distant one of the boys giving Kym the rose.
"Hai, that's when we first met." Kym spoke dreamily as Zeva walked over to where the rose to examine it. Fingering the smooth crystal of the vase tenderly, loosing herself in the distorted reflection in the clear glass recalling memories of the past from when she first met Ken that fateful day.
"What's wrong?" Kym scooted to the edge of the bed, getting closer to Zeva as she jerked herself back to the present.
"No nothing.." she dropped her hand away from the vase, turning her back to the memories that made her longingly happy. "I think I'm going to go for a walk for a little while, maybe then things will make more sense."
"You gonna be ok?" Kym sounded concerned as Zeva reached to door the make her exit, turning around to face her loving friend again the light brightening up her face with an angelic luminescence.
"Yeah, a walk is just what I need to get my mind straitened out." She smiled through her words with Kym nodding in approval before she stepped out of the room and left for the rest of the day.

Ken found himself laughing with the ambitious Yuriko as he walked with her and gazed into her charming smile and glinting eyes of what he perceived of passion. Once they both stopped laughing at each other jokes, He found Yuriko wrapped around his arm, leaning against his warm, masculine arm snuggling her face into his soft jacket arm.
"Hey Ken, lets go some place more private. What do you say?" she looked up at him with yearning, seductive eyes.
" `More…private?' " Ken found himself blushing through the words. "Well I..I mean..where would we go?" Ken felt like kicking himself for asking.
Yuriko giggled girlishly "It's going to be a surprise! Come on!" She tugged on his arm, pulling him down the side walk till the rounded a corner where Ken found his back against a cold brick wall, with Yuriko pressed against his pounding chest while she locked her lips with his. They kissed rapidly, mixing lust with affection until Ken was forced to break away from her to breath, only to have her quickly force herself back on to him unexpectedly, a chilled breeze drifting through the air hinting the beginnings of a slowly setting sun. She finally pried herself off of the disadvantaged Ken, partially forced from what little control he had over her.
"What was that?" Ken looked down at Yuriko who casually flipped back her hair as she smiled innocently up at Ken who seemed less that pleased and almost manipulated.
"Me getting a small taste of what's soon to come of my farewell gift." She trailed her finger down the front of Ken's shirt, as he stood, wide-eyed in disbelief in front of her.
"Yuriko, what do you-" he was cut off by her tongue forced back into his mouth, wrapping a hand around his neck before she softly pulled away for a moment to speak the words that left Ken shell shocked.
"I love you.." she re-connected with Ken once again, his senses felt shot, with every kind of nerve numb while she explored his mouth willingly without any kind of restraint while images of the untouched red headed Angel of Zeva pulled at his mind. He felt tears swell in his eye's and linger there, never falling to streak his face as he stood frozen there for Yuriko to play with. He couldn't even bring himself to wrap his arms around her delicate body, which only forced her to impose more of her body on to him as she easily slipped out of the light jacket she was wearing, exposing her creamy white shoulders and fragile arms with her jacket falling into a heap on the stiff ground. He felt distatched from his body, and didn't even realize she had ended the kiss for a moment until he felt her deep hot breaths on his chest through his light jacket and thin shirt. She ran her hands up his chest, unzipping his jacket all the way to expose a casual shirt that flaunted his muscles none the less and Ken feeling powerless to stop it. She ran her hands around the waistline of his pants before exposing them to the hard sternum of Ken, her cold fingers causing Ken to jump in realization. He rationally gripped Yuriko's shoulder and shoved her back away from his body, looking down at her shocked face, guilt suddenly taking over his mind.
"Yuriko I..I can't let you do this!" He felt his grip tighten around her shoulders as he closed his eyes, unable to look at her.
"Ken, what's wrong? Don't you want to give you're self to me..?" Yuriko's voice distant with false confusion as she put on an innocent front.
"Yuriko.." Ken felt his whole body trembling as he forced himself to lift his head and stare into her eyes. "I don't love you." He looked her strait in the eye as he spoke the words he had known ever sense that fateful day he had met Zeva for the first time. His eyes crystal clear with the truth that filled his mind, and over flowed with heart at the true unleashing of this undying passion for the woman he had known for almost a full six months. But Yuriko did not take the news so lightly, she violently batted Ken's hands off her shoulders and glared at him through her red bangs.
"You..you don't care about anybody's feelings? Do you?! You didn't ever care if you broke my heart or not!"
"Yuriko!"
"URUSAI!" her voice echoed through the alley "You never gave a damn about me! All you care about Zeva! You're a horrible person that will never accomplish anything in life! You two timer!"
Ken stood devastated as he continued to be verbally lashed by Yuriko's words, each one cutting him deep. "Yu..riko..I.."
"No! I don't want to hear it! I gave you everything, and tonight I wanted to become a part of you eternally, incase we never got a chance to see each other again. But now I see, you only like to play for what it's worth till the very end. I can't believe you, Hidaka..I thought you were different." Yuriko stared into Ken's wounded eyes for a moment longer before she finally ran off, leaving Ken in that cold, shadowy ally way.
"Yu..ri..ko.." Ken felt more tears welling into his eyes as he watched her run off, to devastated to try and stop her or call her back.

Zeva walked down the sidewalk, pulling her jacket closer the her body as the wind picked up. It was becoming dusk, and she knew she should go back and check on Kym in a little while, and to see if Ken was back yet with Yuriko. She sighed heavily at the thought of Ken with Yuriko, not knowing exactly what was going on in that field but her questions would soon be answered as a booming female voice screamed at he from behind.
"YOU! ARE YOU ZEVA VARIE ANDONIUS?!" Zeva halted in her tracks, and rotated herself around to face an angered Yuriko who looked at Zeva in almost disbelief as the sun blazed behind the intense figure of the nineteen year old crimson red head. Outlining her body in a gold fire, while the rest of her body was darkened with thin shadows.
"It depends on who want's to know." Zeva's voice swirling in the wind as the breeze tossed about her waves of hair, the blazing sun behind her making the tips of her dark hair seem to ignite with fire.
"Do you love Ken?" Yuriko's voice seemed relatively clam with that question. Zeva smiled gently, closing her eyes as she looked down.
"If love has no words, and is constantly confusing the hell out of you, yet you don't care none the less because you're with that person that overwhelms you with such unexplainable emotions. Then, yes."
Yuriko stood dazed at her answer, taking a moment to regain herself from this woman's amazing words of passion. "Well then, Do..does he love you?!" Yuriko clenched her fists together, her annoyance clearly visible.
Zeva lifted her eyes to meet Yuriko's, the same smile still running over her vibrant face. "I would hope so, but one thing about love is that it doesn't matter if the person doesn't love you right away. Because you're willing to wait forever, and sacrifice anything. You, Yuriko, are the one who misjudged that privilege when you left for Australia."
"How do you-"
"If you really loved Ken like you claim to, Yuriko. That job in Australia would have meant nothing to you and you would have stayed with Ken even knowing that he couldn't of gone with you instead of pulling him into the way you attempted."
"Wait a minute! How do you-"
"I have my resources, Yuriko. And I know about Australia, because I was the one who sent you here." Zeva knew it was a partial lie, but she figured even Yuriko needed to know the truth.
"What are you talking about! My Job-"
"You're job gave you leave because you're company talked with my company." Again, another partial lie. It was more of Kritikers hackers jumped into that companies files, saying that Yuriko was eligible for a full paid vacation back to Japan for the extended amount of time of two months. "See, the reason Ken and I aren't together, is because we ran the risk of loosing our jobs and probably endangering some of our co-workers." At least that part wasn't a lie. "You were sent here to distract Ken from me, or more or less force distance between us for awhile."
Yuriko seemed hurt, and Zeva felt guilty for being the source behind it. "So you're telling me that I.."
"I'm sorry Yuriko, but I didn't think it would be right for you to leave here without knowing the truth. And at least now, you have more of a closure with Ken, weather it was the kind of closure you wanted or not, was all up to you in the end."
"He used me! He said he didn't love me!"
"He used you, did he? The way I see it, he was the one being played here. Especially with the way you treated him in that ally."
Yuriko's eyes went wide with fear and she slowly backed away from Zeva. "How do you..know..about..what happened…10 minutes ago?"
Zeva just smirked with a smug front appearing on her face. "It's engraved all over you're face, Yuriko." She lied, Yuriko was running her thoughts ragged, the images of her and Ken still vibrant in her mind to where every telepath within a 10-block radius was probably getting some pieces of it. "It's etched into you're eyes, and scratched into you're voice. I've seen that face before." That part was true, she had known one to many sleazy female friends in her high school lifetime. "Now if you'll excuse me." She turned her back to the mortified Yuriko. " I need to be going." The sun had set more, and darker colors were streaking across the sky as night slowly began to take over. She began to walk away, shoving her hands in her pocket to keep them warm when the sound of Yuriko's voice penetrated the silence once again.
"Ne! Zeva!" Zeva stopped again, turning her head to look over her shoulder at Yuriko. "Ken's really lucky, he deserves someone like you." Zeva smiled at her compliment and nodded her head to Yuriko that stood now with a gentle smile.
"Arigato." Zeva and Yuriko parted their separate ways, only for Zeva to find Ken 15 minutes later. "KENKEN!" Zeva squalled and she rushed forward to the distraut Ken and threw her arms around him.
"Z..Zeva!" Ken threw his arms around her neck, and found himself crying on her shoulder.
"K..Ken..!" Zeva held him closer to her, embracing him tighter "Ken, its ok..i'm here for you.." Ken said nothing through his tears as he nuzzled his face into her soft, warm neck. The aroma of her hair like a narcotic to his already numbed mind.
"She said..I..I broke her heart..Zeva.." He felt his whole body trembling as he broke apart of Zeva, feeling unworthy to touch her with the pain that stained his body, turning his back to her.
"Ken..you were to good for her to begin with. You don't deserve someone like that." Zeva attempted to reach out a soothing hand to Ken's shoulder, only to have him jerk away with the feeling of her touch. Zeva drawing her hand back, almost feeling unwanted.
"I'm not..i'm not capable of loving anybody. I just hurt them all in end!" Ken clenched his fists together in pain, longing to embrace Zeva with the passion and eternal love he knew was there, but to afraid in fear of causing her pain.
"Ken! That's not true!" She could hear Ken beginning to cry harder as his back faced her, his whole body hurting from emotional pain.
"Please..don't..Zeva..I don't want to hurt you..please..i'm begging you to leave me for your own sake." Ken began to walk away and Zeva, surprisingly felt no tears just blind determination and an ache from feeling Ken's pain.
"Ken! Don't. Please! Will you just listen to me for a-"
"I said leave me!" Ken felt Zeva's grip on his wrist, and he flung his hand blindly, consumed with pain and his own emotional torture. Only to realize what he was doing when it was to late. He impaled Zeva with the back of his hand, knocking her on the ground to her side. Ken gasped in horror as he watched Zeva hit the ground, her hair spreading out over her like a wave of blood splattering the concert with an eternal stain. "Z..Zeva! Oh my god! Zeva!" Ken wanted to reach down and help her, but he was now more afraid to touch her than ever. Zeva wasn't dazed much by the slap, she laid on the ground for a moment before pushing herself up, placing a tender hand over her now swollen cheek as she looked up at Ken with shock green eyes from the ground.
"Ken.." Her voice dazed the realization of what had happened sinking in, and she knew, deep down, he didn't mean to do what he did. Zeva attempted to reach out a hand to Ken to try and embrace him once more with her love, but he backed away like a timid animal shaking his head slowly in disbelief.
"No..no..don't Zeva! I can't be near you! I may end up hurting you again for sure!"
"Ken.." Zeva whispered his voice gently, still extending her hand to him. But he kept backing away, until he finally turned and ran, tears streaming off his face as the wind cut threw him.
"Ken!" Zeva picked herself up from ground, and started to run after him. But the ex J-league player, who already had a decent start, was to fast for her to catch. She stopped to catch her breath, her chest heaving from running so fast with the cold air clenching her insides. Ken had rounded a corner, and had vanished from her site, and she wondered if she would ever find him again. Her breathing finally slowed as she began to walk again, her cheek throbbing against stinging flesh and she hoped for Ken's sake, it wouldn't bruise. "Where could her have gone.." She spoke to herself; the sun was getting closer to setting and would probably be completely down within the next 30 minutes. The sky blazed with orange mixed with soft purples with streaks of tainted red skimming the horizon. Zeva walked around aimlessly for a good ten minutes so assumed, the yellow beams of the street lights flooding the almost empty streets, chasing away the arousing shadows. Finally, as she rounded her last street corner for the night, she decided to return to the Koneko, if she got lucky Ken would have gone back there. She began to walk back the twelve blocks that would lead her to where she prayed Ken was, hoping she would catch him before he did anything stupid. She began to quicken her pace, her heart thumbing against her chest with fear and she felt the undying need to reach Ken instantly. She turned down another side walk, having to cross a stone bridge rimmed with thin bars to protect people from falling off and crushing their skulls on that pavement a fair distance below. Ken stood on the other side of the restraints, gripping the thick, iron bars as he stood on the edge, his eyes distant and gone, his face streaked with tears. Zeva stood at the end of the bridge, frozen in fear as she watched, as the only thing holding him back was the loose clutch he had around that single iron bar. Everything seemed to play out in slow motion, silence the only sound present as she watched Ken let go of the railing and begin to fall forward, closing his eyes as his arms drifted back with his release. But reality struck Zeva, and she found her legs before she even knew she had as she rushed forward in a blind dash.
"KEEEN!" She screamed with all her lungs, as she ran to him to try and stop this mindless catastrophe.
Ken's eyes flew open at the sound of his name `Zeva..?' the name glazed through his mind, and just when he thought it to late to grab back onto the railing, he found himself hanging off the bridge with the assistance of a strong grip wrapped around his arm. He looked up to see the deep sea of Zeva's eyes, who met with his gaze penetrating any barriers they had put up around each other.
"Ken! You BAKA! What do you think you're doing?!" Silence was the only answer she got from the dazed young man. Zeva felt uncontrollable tears begin to swell in her eyes and she blinked hard, the droplets dripping down onto Ken's lids and became his own tears that he could not cry. "I'm not about to let you commit suicide! You Baka!" She could feel her grip shaking, and she didn't understand why she couldn't bring herself to pull him up with her telekinesis. "Suicide is one of the most selfish things anyone can ever do! And I won't let you die being something you're not! I WON'T let you die being selfish, Hidaka Ken!" Zeva closed her eyes, more tears dripping down her face, her voice becoming dangerously shaky. "And..if you're going to die..being selfish..then I'm going to die with you!" Ken's dead brown eyes stretched in realization and fear, and he could feel a light he thought forever gone begin to flicker through the present darkness deep within himself. Zeva's arm was growing tired quickly from supporting all of his weight with her one arm, but Ken just found himself smiling as he latched his other hand firmly around her arm.
"How about helping me back up?" Zeva gaped in shock, tears of joy flooding her eyes as she nodded pieces of her blood-coated hair falling in front of her face. She gripped Ken's arm with both her hands and began to ease him up with the help of her Telekinesis, though a sudden surprise Ken had in store caught her off her guard. Once able to reach the iron bar again, Ken gripped it and pulled himself up more with his own strength, at the same time locking his passionate lips with hers. A wave of unleashed emotions pouring through him, more of them being unleashed as he kissed her unlike he had anyone before in his whole life the ecstasy of her rare taste sending a rush throughout his body. Zeva blinked, rather stunned as Ken still stood on the OTHER side of the bridge with her still gripping his arm and holding on to him with her Telekinesis. But like him she felt this fiery unbound wave of emotions, exhibited from herself and Ken's unexplainable kiss. Slowly they parted, opening their eyes to greet the other's face, a beaming smile radiating from Ken's boyish face.
"Talk about you're adrenaline rush.." Zeva said, blushing threw a shy smile.
"Who you tellin'?" Ken thought about running his fingers through his soft bishounen hair, but he figured it wouldn't be the best idea to let go of the railing again.
"You know, that was really romantic, sexy and manly of you. Except it would have been even better if you weren't still clinging to the railing that's keeping you from going splat on the ground below." He chuckled as hopped back over the railing to stand on firm ground stand before Zeva before embraced her firmly the sun finally setting with the sky beginning to glint with first stars.
