Weiss Kreuz Fan Fiction ❯ Voids ❯ Chapter 3
"Arrangements? You have got to be kidding." Ken stared at Manx in disbelief. He was good at sports but when it came to being artsy, Ken was terrible. Omi was standing next to Birman, trying not to laugh at his friend. The soccer player shot him a glare. "I can't help it if I'm not talented like you." He made a face at Omi and sent the younger assassin into giggles.
"It's ok," he giggled, "I'm sure Aya and Yohji won't mind if you can't make arrangements." He didn't mind. Blue eyes shifted to Birman who was inspecting Ken's arrangement with a puzzled expression. He fought off the urge to giggle again.
Across the room, Aya ignored the noise behind him and carefully removed the thorns from a white rose. He gently pushed the flower in with the other pale flowers. Finished. Violet eyes surveyed his work. It was ok, nothing to be completely enthusiastic about in his opinion.
"Wow, Aya. That is beautiful," Yohji spoke quietly. His glasses had been pushed to the top of his head. When he didn't get a reply, he returned to his work. Carnations were in place. He reached for a rose. "Kuso," he hissed as he dropped the flower back on the workbench. The blonde stared at his finger, a small drop of blood welling at the tiny puncture. He sighed and reached for a tissue and wrapped it around the small wound. Yohji picked up the rose again and slowly began to remove the thorns.
Aya glanced at the blonde and watch him carefully dethorn the flower out of the corner of his eye. Yohji was good at arrangements, showing a flair for creativity but he had no patience with the flowers. The rose proved that.
"Damnit!" Yohji dropped the rose and watched the blood well on a different finger. "I give up," he mumbled and lifted the finger to his lips and cleared it of the trickling blood. It stopped bleeding and he turned to find Aya watching him.
"Get a bandage. We don't need blood all over the place." Aya turned and disappeared into the back and returned with a small kit. He handed it to the blonde and grabbed the rose Yohji has been dethorning and finished the task. He placed the flower in the arrangement and felt a small prick. He pulled his hands away and blinked. The rose has pricked him too.
Yohji was putting anti-biotic on his final prick when he glanced to Aya. "So it isn't just me and Ken." He caught Aya's hand and brushed a tissue to soak up the blood. Anti-biotic was applied before he placed a band-aid over it.
The red head had stiffened when Yohji grabbed his hand but relaxed as soon as he realized what the lanky man was doing. His gaze flickered up to Yohji's face for a moment then back to his hand. A band-aid was over his finger but Yohji just held his hand, rubbing a thumb gently over the back.
The blonde's gaze followed his thumb over the pale skin. They remained as they were for a moment. Yohji released his hand suddenly and turned his attention to repacking the first aid kit.
Wide violet eyes focused on the partially concealed profile of the blonde. He shook his head and turned his attention to tweaking his arrangement.
The tender moment had went mostly unnoticed by the other people in the room. Birman was showing Ken a few things to help him in making arrangements. Omi was talking quietly with Manx.
Yohji shifted his gaze up and raked a hand through his hair, pulling the elastic tie out. He picked up his arrangement and put it in water, wandering over to Manx before he disappeared up the stairs.
"Fujimiya-san," Manx called. "Fujimiya-san," she said again when Aya didn't turn to her.
"Hn," Aya said as he turned to face the red head. He had been watching Yohji leave, thinking.
"I want to show you the books." Manx motioned to the leather bound book. Aya cleared his mind of thoughts of Yohji and focused on what Manx was telling him.

"Kuso! What are you doing Kudoh? He's a teammate who think you are someone else!" Yohji cursed himself as he slammed his bedroom door behind him. He threw his apron at the closed door. "Fujimiya doesn't want you. You don't need this. It's too soon," he dropped to his bed. His anger was fading as he came upon more reasons to justify not involving himself with Aya.
Asuka, Kudoh, think of her. You couldn't even keep her safe. You don't deserve to love. He shook his head, his eyes stinging with tears. This was useless. "I need a drink." Yohji stood and grabbed his wallet from the dresser drawer and pulled open his door. "Aya."
The red head stared at him with an expressionless face. Violet eyes suddenly flickered to green. Tears clouded the jade orbs Aya had begun to love. He didn't have clear, green eyes. They were more hazel. Yohji's were inviting. "Yohji..." He shook his head, sending concern out of his mind. "We have he first shift tomorrow morning." With that, the red head turned and walked down the hall.
"Kuso!" he hissed for the second time that afternoon. He'd have to spend all morning with the red head now. Time to go get drunk. At least he had the rest of the afternoon and all of the evening.
The blonde hurried out of the building, ignoring Omi's inquiries to where he was going. He headed down the street, looking for the alcohol that would banish his trouble from his mind and give him peace.

The red head stared at the photograph. It was all he really wanted to remember of his old world. Raven hair, beautiful sparkling eyes, and an ever-present smile. "Aya-chan... You would like it here. You would like him."
A slight smile caressed Aya's lips as he propped the photograph up against a book on his desk. "Do you remember that fortune teller you begged to see? Well, I think she was right. He's here." He shook his head and ran a hand through scarlet locks. "I thought she was lieing when she talked about him. They aren't the same. I wish you were here..."
Sighing, violet eyes shifted away from the picture to the wrapped sword. Led by a blade... He picked up the katana and sat down, shifting the blade about in his hands.

Omi chewed on the end of his pencil as he stared at the data on the computer screen. Manx just kept sending him more information on this world. It was all intriguing to him. This world was far different from any of the worlds the other Weiss came from. A knock at his door brought his attention away from the screen. "Hai?" he called.
The door opened slowly and a mess of crimson locks appeared. "Has Yohji come back yet? He has an early shift tomorrow." Not a lie but not the full truth. He was worried abut the older man. It was late, too late.
"Iie. I don't know where he went either. Ken-kun said not to worry about him." Blue optics shifted to the keyboard then back to Aya. "I think we should find him. I can activate his tracer." Omi hit a few keys on the keyboard and an address pulled up a few seconds later. He moved to pick up the print out.
"I'll go." Aya crossed into the room and took the address from the archer. He turned and left, leaving Omi alone again.
"Stranger people..." he mumbled and switched off his computer to go to be.

Aya glanced up to the sign as he made his way into the bar. A cheery blonde greeted him at the door, welcoming him to the Yasmin. He ignored her offers of a drink and headed for the bar. Yohji was here somewhere.
"A florist." Green eyes sparkled at the surprised look on the woman's face. She tried to hide her surprise, letting her long, dark hair hide her face as she tilted her face down. Yohji chuckled at her and brushed her hair back from her face.
Not standing near the door. Not playing pool. Not on the dance floor. His gaze moved to the bar. Sure enough, Kudoh was sitting there, making a beautiful woman blush. Violet eyes narrowed as he crossed the room. Jealousy swirled through him.
"Hey, don't look away. I want to see your beautiful face." Yohji tilted her chin up and leaned close. The woman began anticipated the kiss and tilted her face up to him. He began to close the gap.
"Kudoh," Aya growled, standing behind him.
Yohji stopped and whirled to face the red head. "Aya! I... I..." He stopped, taking a moment to collect himself.
The woman looked between the two. She saw the jealousy burning in the red haired man's eyes and grabbed her purse. "Yaoi freak!" she hissed and shoved her way through the crowd.
Aya never took his eyes off the blonde. "If you can't drag your ass out of bed for your shift tomorrow, there will be hell to pay," he nearly spat. The red head stared at Yohji for several seconds, his hard gaze almost breaking as he turned to cut through the crowd.
He came to get him? All Yohji had repaid him with was pushing him to the side for some homophobic woman. He sighed and gave chase. Aya was already out the door when Yohji caught up with him. He caught his arm. "Aya, its-"
"I don't think anything. Let me go, Kudoh." Aya sounded drained as he spoke. He remained facing away from the blonde, allowing his fiery red hair to hide his face. "You don't have to explain yourself to me."
Yohji held onto his arm. He watched the red head carefully. He didn't want to hurt him. Right now, the blonde wanted to tell Aya everything, to apologize. They weren't lovers. Hell, they weren't even friends. Just people that happened to live and work together. "Aya, I don't want to hurt you. We're teammates... and," he searched for the word, releasing his arm. "And... I'm not gay."
The red head began walking again, heading in the direction of the Koneko. He wasn't gay, then Aya must seem to be a freak to him. It hurt. Gods, how it hurt. He loves him... and then to find out.
He instantly regretted it. "Aya! Wait! I don't mean-" The blonde stopped when the red head turned to him. The icy mask was completely gone. All that was left was the hurt expression, lavender optics glittering with pain. What have I done?
"Yohji, I understand." With that, he turned back to the direction he had been heading and kept moving. It's not him. He'd never meet him. It just seemed impossible now.
Yohji watched as Aya disappeared around the corner of a building. "Fucking great Kudoh," he whispered at himself and moved to find his car. "You just blew it." At least he didn't have to worry about being in a relationship with a teammate anymore. At least...

The metal security door rattled up and Aya unlocked the front door. He began to move a few potted plants out front. It was fifteen minutes earlier than he should be opening but he thought it best to be working on arrangements when Kudoh finally came back down. He left the sign for Yohji and sat at a worktable to start orders.
A day ago, Yohji had told him he wasn't gay and it hurt to find that out. Yesterday morning had been hell. The blonde kept bugging Aya, trying to explain things. Aya wouldn't hear it. He spent most of his shift on the opposite side of the room, taking care of customers.
Yohji thudded down the stairs on time and halted, seeing the shop already set up. In ten minutes, they had to flip the sign around and tend to customers. Green eyes focused on the red head. He studied the red head as he arranged a small group of cattelya's in a pale rose vase. "Aya, could I talk to you for a moment?"
"Hn..." was the red head's only answer. He didn't want to hear him talk. Twice burned, Aya wasn't about to let it happen again.
"Aya, look at me..." When the red head failed to turn around, Yohji grabbed his shoulders and spun him.
"Get the fuck off. We don't need to speak unless we are working on a mission. Otherwise, don't speak to me."
The hostility in the other man's voice surprised him and he immediately let go of the red head. "Alright. Only on missions." He gave a mock salut and headed up the stairs. Like hell he was going to put up with an angry red head. The bastard could open up the shop by himself. He'd come back down later.
Aya leaned over his work table, his eyes squeezed closed as he fought to keep his façade up. He wished that he had ignored Manx and let her shoot him. No. if he really was as important as she said, she never would have shot him.
He sighed and crossed the room to flip the closed sign to open. With the sign flipped and the door propped open, customers began to trickle in. Aya was too busy tending to the customers to worry about what to do with the latest developments.

"Weiss, deny these dark beasts their tomorrows," spoke Manx as she stood in front of the four solemn faced assassins. Her gaze wandered over them until she walked out, leaving the files with Omi. There was no choice of refusal for them. This wasn't a mission that any of them could say no to.
"Alright. We need to break into two teams. Siberian and I will go in the back. Abyssinian, Balinese, you two will go in the front." Omi had pulled out a map and was motioning to their marks on it. He had gotten the mission information a day ago so he had time to set it up. "Siberian and I will secure you exit while you two take down the targets." He passed Yohji and Aya the specifics. "Tomorrow night, be ready. This needs to go off without any problems. Settle your differences now. Weiss does not need to lose a team member on their first mission." Omi stood and walked out, taking his information with him. Ken followed soon after, leaving Yohji and Aya alone.
Blonde locks hid his face from the red head. He kept his gaze focused on his folded arms. "Can you trust me?" he asked quietly.
Silence was his answer. Aya paged through the data. He wasn't sure if he could answer that question.
"Aya, answer me. If you can't, the mission will fail." Still nothing. Yohji looked up to see the red head sitting very still. He stood and walked to Aya and knelt in front of him. "Aya... Aya." He put a hand on his cheek and tilted the red head's face so he could see violet eyes.
Aya stared at him. "I don't know." Yes, he knew this Yohji wasn't like the other one but he had... "We will succeed." He batted Yohji's hand away and stood.
The red head left quickly, leaving an unsure Yohji kneeling on the floor. "Aya, if you only knew how much I wish I could believe you."

"Siberian at first mark." The mission was going well so far. Omi and Ken had no problem reaching their first mark. Yohji and Aya were half way to their second mark.
"We're proceeding with the infiltration," spoke Omi calmly. Aya made a sound of acknowledgement and Weiss carefully short circuited the electronic doors that blocked their routes.
Ken carefully peered around a corner and motioned to Omi. The young boy rolled into the corridor in a flurry darts. Two guards dropped clutching their throats. Ken followed, slashing them with his bugnuks to make sure they stayed down. "Bombay at second mark."
Aya led the way down the dimly lit corridor with Yohji following close behind. Deep voices rolled into laughter around the up coming corner. The red head stopped at the corner and signaled to Yohji to head around first. The blonde gave a nod of acknowledgement. "Go." The word barely made it out of Aya's mouth when Yohji bolted into the hallway.
Wire hissed as it looped over pipes in the ceiling then around an unsuspecting guard's neck. The man choked and flew upwards. The other guards were stunned, making their reactions slow. A second man was hanging from the ceiling, choking to death before the first gun went off.
Light glinted off the cold steel of Aya's blade as he cut down the remaining three guards. "Abyssinian second mark. Advancing to point." The red head led the way towards the inner rooms.
"This is it." Yohji pushed open a door and ducked immediately. Checking the room would have been intelligent. His wire finished off the guard and Aya was glaring at him.
"Worry about your self," he hissed. The kitty was still a little testy. The red head brushed past the blonde and began to search the room. He found the briefcase. Yohji logged on to the computer, fumbling his way to the information. He put in a disk and retrieved everything. The disk came out and a new one went in, implanting a virus. The blonde put the identical disks into his coat pocket and nodded to Aya. "We're coming out."
Yohji led the way along the egress route, making his way carefully around corners. Bodies littered the path in some places, signaling that Omi and Ken had done their job.
"Yohji! We can't get back in and there are guards assembling along your egress route!" Omi was worried and perhaps a little upset that he and Ken had missed the one group of guards.
Aya glanced at Yohji when the blonde cursed quietly at their luck. He stepped up and hurried along side the blonde. There wasn't time to be careful anymore as they headed along their egress route at a dead run.
The door to the outside refused to give as Yohji slammed into it. "Fuck!" He reached into his jacket and pulled out his lock picks, letting Aya cover his back. The blonde kneeled and began to work on the complex lock. He felt it give and he pushed open the door.
"Balinese." Aya sent the briefcase skidding into the open, keeping his back to the blonde.
Yohji looked up and saw the guards rushing down the corridor. "This is just not our day." He cast his wire out and caught two of the five people. Jerking sharply, a spinal column separated. The second man choked to death.
The red head brought his katana down, cutting another guard down. The blade flashed before it sunk into flesh again, taking down a second guard down.
One left. Yohji turned to see the man pointing a gun at Aya's back from down the hall. There wasn't time to yell at the stupid red head to turn around. He bolted and the gun made a cracking sound as it fired.
Aya turned and barely saw Yohji falling before he threw the combat knife he had snagged from one of the other guards. A dull thunk and and a strangled groan was all the man gave as he fell, lifeless to the ground. Violet eyes moved immediately to the blonde. "Yohji?" he whispered.
"H-ai." The blonde man painfully pushed himself to a stand. One gloved hand covered the wound low in his side. A forced smile was given to the red head as he turned to stagger out.
The red head moved to help and was batted away by a blood damp hand. Aya made an upset sound but continued to follow the blonde out to the car.
Omi set the charges off as soon as the older assassins were insight. "Yohji! What happened?" he asked, eyes wide at the blood steadily trickling out between the blonde's fingers.
"I got careless." Yohji saw Aya glare at him, knowing the blonde has saved his ass and head gotten hurt. He settles into the car and only when they were on their way back to the Koneko did he pass out.

These chapters are being sort of spaced out. I'm working on a few others at the moment. This one will finish first, I hope...
A few notes. You will see the bar Yasmiin turning up in other stories. The spelling will differ until I get my ass in gear and get out my old rp stuff and figure out how to spell it correctly. Either way, it means jasmine and it's Arabic. Yes, Aya is a little different. It's AU and I know Aya is acting way different at some points. He still can be the cold bastard we all know and love but he isn't totally cold, more of a mix between Aya and Ran.
Next chapter. I'm hoping to introduce a little twist to Yohji's part in this Weiss. (I know.. the esset disappears halfway through this story because my laptop doesn't like it) It hit me when I started the next chapter. I'm hoping to do at least three more chapters, maybe four before finishing this one off.
Today, there was a great tragedy at the junior high I used to attend. On of our principles was shot and killed by a student who then turned the gun on himself. You never think it would happen close to home but it did. So, this chapter is dedicated to Dr. Segro. Even though I never had a reason to spend a lot of time with him in school, I'm sure he has left his effect on me in the giant ocean of the world.
Last, thanks for the feedback I've been getting. It's been good. Poor Farfie doesn't have anybody to play with... let's keep it that way. He'll be all ready to play with a kitten then later... Hugs to Koji-chan too!
