Chapter Eight- Reconnect

Karasuma arrived at a tall apartment tower just on the corner of a very busy morning intersection, located only about a kilometer or so from her home. She looked up at the building as she entered the place, and then quickly made her way inside.

When she had been contacted with the particulars, she was surprised to find that Amon’s home was so close to hers, and she never even had knew it. Looking so tired from being woken up to come down at this ungodly early hour, she knew one thing about what she was walking in to, Amon had a run in with a Witch this morning in his very own home, all of the other information was to be seen.

She took the elevator to the eight floor, being followed by one policeman that was waiting at the front doors for her to arrive. Haruto was suppose to be there already, but she saw no sign of the young man or his powerful motor bike anywhere. He was probably lost in transit or something like it again. That was the young man normal thing, and she knew he would arrive at some point

She looked over at the oddly young officer.
“ Do you know what happened here, Officer?” She asked.
“ We got a complaint call about four forty five, lots of noise was reported as being maybe a domestic disturbance.” The man said, with a stoic tone. “ When we got here, we were informed that the STN was called in, and we were to set up a perimeter for them... that is all I know.”

The dark brown haired lady snuffed, knowing that is probably the officer had been told regarding information. The lines of communication between the two organizations were spotty, at best... and knew that if she needed more she would have to find that out for herself She just waited, as the doors slid open on the floor she needed to be at.

As she walked in the door that had the gaudy yellow crime scene tape on it, her sense of smell was immediately assaulted by the overpowering odor of burnt flesh and hair that literally hung in the air. She coughed and fought the urge to throw up, and went in, her mind trying to ignore the stench to the best of her abilities..

She found Amon was standing in the kitchen area, talking to a SOLOMON body recovery person. She noted that the man was partially dressed, and covered head to foot with a fairly thick dusting of soot and ash. She began to walk over to him, to get his take on what happened here... but a movement off to the side made her look of to the side.

She blinked her eyes wildly, her eyes were fixed on someone standing just next to where the front room was. She rubbed her eyes to clear them, as she had thought she saw Robin was there. She opened her eyes again, and to her surprise, the young craft user was still there. She had not made it up in her head.
“ Robin?” She said hesitantly said, as her mind wildly flew.

The normally emotionally level Karasuma raced over to where the girl was. She smiled and she hugged the girl.
“ O my God... you are alive!” The lady hunter said. “ This is a great day indeed.”
“ Miss Karasuma....” Robin replied, feeling like she was home. She smiled broadly at Miho. “ This feels so good to see you again, even in this sort of situation.”

The older hunter let the girl go, and took a step back to look at the girl. She was blackened by soot and seemed a little pale, but Robin was indeed standing there and was still alive.
“ I have so many questions...” Started Miho, looking at the young girl in front of her. “ I just don’t even know quite where to start.”
“ They will have to wait until later, Karasuma!” Abruptly broke in Amon, who had joined them. “ The both of us will explain more once when we are all back at the Headquarters.”

Miho looked over at Amon and was going to say something, but the stoic face of the man flashed, made her realize not to question the man just yet. She nodded her agreement to the head Hunter, as Robin looked on with her tired eyes.

Amon threw on the remaining pieces of his cloths and the three left the apartment, following the SOLOMON workers that was taking out the body. The policemen that were in the halls moved out of the way for the three, as they always did.... seeming fearful once seeing what the others were carrying past them.

Thirty minutes later, the three hunters got off of the elevator at the STN-J, and made there way into the main room. There was no speaking between any of them, as Amon seemed to be in one of his moods again. Like if they were in tandem with each other, all three entered the headquarters main area.

Michael looked up from his workstation, as he saw people coming in so early this morning. He stretched his willowy frame, and prepared to greet them all, and he hoped they had brought donuts with them. Michael’s face suddenly slackened with utter disbelief, as the person called Robin was with them all. He hung there, his moth open but not even a sound was coming out.

Chief Kosaku was coming out of his area, and saw the girl too. With their happiness overwhelming them, The chief and Michael both raced over, spewing questions at a break neck speed at the young girl as they greeted her with great enthusiasm. Robin just smiled shyly, as she had never had such a response towards her in all of her sixteen years.

Every one hugged and smiled at her, they all seemed so overcome with emotions at just seeing her. The girl just give hugs back, as the feeling of homecoming was strong in her... something that she had never experienced before.
Amon just stood back in the shadows, letting all of them greet their long lost coworker. He snuffed and went over to a workstation, just to let everyone have their time to be with Robin. That was the thing for him to do, he told himself.

After a hasty explanation by Robin, as they queried her about the last six months of her disappearance, the people slowly dispersed back to their work. Robin just went to sit with Michael at his station and the two were chatting away.

Amon looked around, seeing that everyone’s spirits had been lifted with the return of the tawny haired girl. He let himself actually flash a little smile, as it felt good that the group felt united into one once more. It had been absent ever since he had came back to the STN.

Amon soon stood up and headed over to the chief’s desk, once his assistant had given him his tea and then scampered off once again.

The chief looked up at the man who was now standing silently beside his desk, a rare smile flooded over his face.
“ This is a great day for us, is it not, Amon?”
“ It is, seeing that one of ours is here.” Agreed the man, forgoing the smile. “ I need to talk to you.”

The chief looked up at the man, Amon’s voice held a very serious tone in it.
“ What is it, man?” He asked. “ What is on your mind now?”
“ Robin is in danger...” The man said, sharply, as he wasted no words with his boss. “ I am sure that this witch was another assassin bent on killing Robin, and anyone else that gets in his way.”
“ Any proof of that?”
“ The Witch had said as much when he attacked me in my own home.” Amon replied, his face not showing any emotions. “ His words were, ‘ where is the girl’ and you need to die’.” “That is disturbing.” The chief commented. “ Anything other evidence or any leads?”
“ Nothing as yet.” Amon admitted, perturbed at the seemingly cemented shoed way the Chief was reacting to it all. “ Solomon labs will contact us once they make a identification of the witch.” He said, his eyes never changing from staring at the STN head man. “ Right now, I am very sure of the attempts made on Robin’s life”
“ When did SOLOMON say they will have there findings for us?” Asked Kosaku.
“ Not more than a few hours, I’m sure of.” Said Amon.

The chief snuffed, as Amon stood silently as he waited for some sort of answer from the Chief.
“ We just might have to hide her then...” The chief concluded, after a few seconds of contemplation on the situation. “ We just have you be with her all of the time, and put you up in a hotel or something.
“ I am of the same thought... but what about the investigation into this?” Asked Amon, actually feeling a little nervous at his leaders suggestion. “ I am already looking into it.”

The Chief paused, and looked at his most senior of Agents.
“ I am sure that you can be in on most of the investigation, but Karasuma and Haruto are more than capable of doing it while you look after Robin.”
“ Is that your order, sir.” Amon asked curtly, hearing the chief’s answer
“ Yes it is.” Snapped the head man, looking at the tall man beside him. “ Once we have that information from SOLOMON, we will make that determination and follow it wherever it leads... go now.”

Amon just bowed and turned. He returned to where Robin was. What ever his feelings were for her, it would have to wait. He knew he had to tell her about this case, but the question was just how to handle this all. He sighed, as keeping his new found feelings for her was not as easy as he wanted them to be. He had came to the realization that he actually wanted to tell her about it... this case gets in the way of that.

With his emotions in check, he looked at the girl.
“ Shall we get something for you to eat?” He asked, then added with a small grin. “ I do believe that there is a man that owns a place called Harry’s that would just love to see you again.”
“ Master?” The girl said, perking up.
“ And I will be buying what ever it is you want....” He grinned, and added.. “ Cappuccino included”

The girl smiled, seemingly really excited about it. The two left with each other for the short walk to Harry’s while the others got back to work on the case at hand..
