Chapter Sixteen

Robin layed back on the bedroll behind their box wall. She was reading a book that the owner upstairs had sent down. She could hear Amon and Nagira discussing different things over in the lawyers area of the basement. She tuned herself out. And went back to the printed pages in front of her.

She just had needed a few minutes alone time, and decided to read the book she now had. All of the stress that was around, had been weighing on her. She had been feeling sort of sick to her stomach a little bit again. Reading seemed to ease it a little, as her mind was occupied with something totally different.

She snuggled down into the pillow that was propping her up, she let her mind fall into the written world that was inside the hard covers of the book.

Her reading was abruptly interrupted by loud noises emanating from upstairs. The restaurant was always noisy when it was open, but this was a little different all together. Far more would have been the word for it.

She put down her reading and went out to where the two men were.
“ Amon?” She called out
“ I heard.” He said, looking upwards to the floor of the restaurant. “ This is really odd...”
“ That was not normal” Nagira said, as his voce tighten a little. “ We need to see what that all is...”

They could here banging and foot steps of many people, almost like a stampede of sorts. They all stiffened when they heard the tell tale sounds of gunfire break out and screams blaring from upstairs. Amon and Nagira instantly had their weapons out on hearing the noise.
“ Fuck!!” Spat Nagira, as he moved to cover the stairs.
“ Get behind us...” Amon shouted to the girl, his had already having his gun out and ready.

Robin had instinctively went into her pocked, and pulled out her glasses. Her heart raced, her stomach turned as the images of the gunmen bursting in to her bedroom flashed through her mind at lightning speed. She pushed all of it out of her consciousness and focused herself the best she could.

The door to the basement exploded inward, the steel door was mangled and off it’s hinges, smoke rising from it’s surface. Men in bodyarmor flooded through the doorway. None of them had any markings of the police on them, but their weapons stated their reason to be there. Something flew from them and landed with a clatter on the floor. A second later, an explosion rocked the confined space.

Nagira and Amon were thrown back by the concussion, missing the girl by just a foot or so. Robin was nearly thrown off her feet, but somehow stayed on them. The people raced in, high powered pistols held high. She recognized one of them through the helmet shield, one with a burnt side of the face. These were her attackers from the apartment, and their mission was the exact same. She beared down and flames flickered in her eyes.

A huge wall of fire exploded around the intruders, sending them to their knees. Shots were being fired rapidly, whizzing pass the girl everywhere. She fell to one knee and sent another blast of flames their way. Three of the nine armed men were now down, as the second flames exploded around.

A bullet hit Robin in the upper right arm, spinning her around. It burned her arm when it entered. She fell to her side, as the pain was intense and she cried out. The remaining men could be heard advancing on them. She knew she could not let herself be down.

She looked over herself, trying to focus herself for another shot. The men all had stopped their advance. The armor they were wearing was sparking and glowing wildly, their bodies were convulsing like if they were being hit by a high dose of electricity and the sickening stench of burnt flesh hung in the air. She saw Amon was on his feet, and a glow was around his body. His powers were now fully unleashed, and was directed on the armored invaders.

The two more of the armored men fell, but a bullet fell the tall hunter where he stood. He hit the floor with a loud sound, knocking over part of the box wall. He layed unmoving in the echos of the bullets going all around them. Robin closed her eyes, as the remaining men were near them. She prayed for their souls.

Suddenly, she heard more weapons going off, and shouts that were familiar to her bounced around the basement. She opened her eyes and saw another group of people where the attackers were. Through the gun smoke, she saw Karasuma and Haruto with Dojima standing over the men on the floor. She gasped, as another figure was standing right there. It was her grandfather.

Karasuma and Haruto stood over the fallen attackers, guns trained on them. The stocky priest raced over to the fallen girl and the others.
“ Robin.” He said, scooping her up, holding her to his chest tightly.
“ Grandfather!!” She said with a sigh, as she felt his arms cradle her where she had fallen.

Amon had gotten to his feet, his shoulder bloodied from the attack. He checked on Nagira for a second, then staggered a little as he made his way over to the priest and his granddaughter.
“ Amon..” Robin whispered, as she sat up a little.

Amon used his non-injured arm to hug her tightly, as the priest looked on.
“ Nagira??” Robin asked, her mind spinning as she tried to clear her thoughts a little.
“ He’s alive, he took a bullet in the side, but he is conscious.” The man said, looking at the girl with concern. “ How are you?”
“ My arm...” She said, the pain flashing on her face.
“ Help is on the way.” Called out Karasuma.
“ The men?” Asked Amon, looking up at the lady hunter, who had came closer.

Miho just nodded.
“ Dead.” She said. “ We had a hunch they might have been on your trail... and we seems to be right.”

Nagira had sat up and was looking on. He looked at the priest and smiled.
“ I am so glad to see you.” He said.
“ You must be Nagira.” Juliano said with a grin. “ Your timing with your little plan was cutting it rather close.”
“ Your telling me.” Said the lawyer with a chuckle, and wincing in pain as he chuckled. “ Was my information right?”

Juliano nodded his head, a large friendly smile waxed his face.
“ Like the old saying goes.... You were right on the money.” He said.
“ I am... confused...” Amon said, trying to understand the conversation between Nagira and the old clergyman.

Nagira burst out laughing, his face showing the pain of such a action, yet he did noting to stifle his outburst. Father Juliano looked at Amon.
“ We need to get some medical attention for all of you first.” He said, holding a cloth he had over the injured arm of the youngest hunter. “ We will have to have a long talk to explain our part in this.”
“ These men were not SOLOMON?” Amon asked, trying to set some tings in his head.
“ They were not, My son.” Said the priest. “ Far, far from that.”

Amon felt better with that news.
“ We have to get Robin to the hospital right away.” He said, his focus now on getting his love some help. “ She need to be looked over...”
“ We have to see of the baby is not hurt from all of this.” Said Juliano, with a smile.
“ You... You know?” Gasped the large man, shocked at the man’s statement.
“ I Know, and a little more too... but we will talk on this all later on.” Juliano calmly said. “ All that I can say is I am happy with this little surprise.”

Amon looked at the man with complete surprise, but nodded dumbly. He looked to Robin, who had a wide smile on her face. She nodded her head to her man, as her body seemed to relax with it all.
The priest picked up the girl in his arms and headed for the stairs as the wail of the ambulances coming closer rang in their ears. Amon helped his brother to his feet, and the two of them followed Juliano.

As Robin was carried, she passed Karasuma who stopped them for a moment.
“ Glad to have you back.” She said with a larger smile.
“ Thank you.” Said Robin, feeling relived that all of this was finally over and done with. “ You saved us all...”
“ Get better, I already heard... and why did you not tell me about the baby...”
“ We will explain our end later too.” Robin said, grinning.
“ You better.” Teased the girl, squeezing the young hunter’s hand. “ Just go and get checked out... you need that.”

The first paramedic down in the basement whisked Robin from her grandfathers strong arms and out to the awaiting ambulance, while others headed straight for Amon and Nagira. The scene was chaotic, but now under control.

Karasuma looked at Haruto and smiled.
“ I love happy endings.” She said with a smile and a long sigh.
“ That is all too sappy ... but true.” The lad said, his face showing a real large smile. “ This one is for the record books, even for our organization.”
“ I cannot agree with you more.” Miho said, looking at the bodies of the dead strewn on the hard concrete floor. “ Just think, The STN has taken down some of the most ruthless Syndicate operatives.”
“ Never would have thought that.” Dojima said, as she neared.

Haruto sheathed his weapon and joined the others as they waited just at the base of the stairway.
“ The cops will be here, we need to explain all of this.”Haruto said, thinking ahead a little.
“ They just probably will chalk it up to it being under our jurisdiction.” Purposed Miho. “ What we do, they just let us handle it mostly.”
“ Yeah.” Nodded the lad, getting out his communicator. “ I will then take the time to inform Michael that we have gotten Robin, Amon and Nagira.”
“ Good idea.” Miho said, taking a long breath.

Karasuma nodded and headed to the stairs. She wanted to get to the hospital and check on everyone so badly, but her duty to stay and explain things to the cops came first. She smiled, as things were now straightened out.
