Witch Hunter Robin Fan Fiction ❯ The Crimson Hotel ❯ Witch Hunter Haruto ( Chapter 8 )
"I was a teenage witch hunter. A pretty decent one too. They trusted me with some pretty important, big assignments."
"They?"
"Don't interrupt me, man!" Sakaki took a drag on his cigarette, making sure to fan the smoke out the window so his parents wouldn't smell it.
He continued, "They were the STNJ, an elite organization run by a worldwide conglomerate called Solomon. They prevented witches and others from abusing their powers. The STN had divisions all over the world. A shrewd man named Takuma Zaizen ran the Japanese division. I barely ever got the chance to talk to him. The only person who ever really did was Amon."
"Whoa. You sure do remember a lot of details!" His friend Kado was seated next to him on the windowsill.
Sakaki ignored him. "Amon was the STNJ team leader. There had always been a rumor going around that Amon had powerful witch blood somewhere in his family line but that he was able to keep his powers from awakening through will alone. Supposedly his sensei, which might even be Solomon himself, taught him some kind of advanced meditation technique-"
"No way! That's not a very believable story!"
"I told you it was probably just a rumor. Everyone knew so little about him that there were a lot of wild stories going around. He hated witches, but he'd started acting strangely around Robin Sena."
"Who was Robin, man? Was she hot?"
" She was a young witch hunter sent in from Italy. The thing about her was, she actually was a witch. She had some pretty awesome powers, well, one awesome power anyway. Do you know what it was? Guess!"
"I don't know…maybe…she could, like, move things with her mind?"
"No! Robin could shoot fire at people…and things. But it was much cooler when she shot fire at people…not people…more like…witches really. The thing is, like I was saying…Amon hated witches, but on our last case, the one with the creepy hotel, we were, like, staked out in this big, drippy warehouse. Chief Kosaka…oh he was kind of like an efficiency administrator. Chief Kosaka was making us work all day and night to solve the case. Two entire floors of people had mysteriously died, and the way they died had suggested to some watchdogs that it could be a witch, so we were all called in to investigate. So anyway, we were all forced to work the entire night, and finally, hours into our work, Amon said we could take a break. We all went about our business, ordering food, drinking coffee, using the bathroom. So Robin goes into the bathroom of the place, you know, to freshen up. And a few others straggle in and out, but she stays in there for a really long time. Quite a while later, Amon goes in there to check up on her or something. A minute after that, Dojima and I head to use the bathroom too, except when we get to the door we…uh…hear some very interesting noises going on in there."
Kado's eyes widened, "Like what kind of noises!?"
" Like moaning and really rapid pounding noises." Sakaki smiled, "So we listen on the other side of the door, too shocked to move and Dojima says-"
"Who was Dojima?" his friend asked wrinkling his forehead.
"Hmmm…Dojima's another witch hunter, but she doesn't really hunt witches. She just kind of sits around the office and tries to look cute."
"Does it work?"
"Does what work?" Sakaki stubbed out the cigarette into a tin can that served as their ashtray.
"Her trying to look cute."
"Yeah usually. Anyway, we are listening to the action all shocked and she says, `Maybe they're fighting ghosts'. And we laugh. It's kind of obvious what was going on. I don't know where Miho, my partner, and Chief Kosaka are. Maybe getting coffee or something. So anyway, the two of us are there listening, and I'm getting really confused. Because if Amon hates witches so much, why does he make an exception for Robin? What's so different about her? Also, I didn't think he ever stopped thinking about witch hunting. There had been a rumor a while back that said that Zaizen's daughter wanted Amon real bad but that he told her that he didn't have time for her and never `mixed business and pleasure'. So did he suddenly change his policy? Or maybe they really were fighting ghosts!"
"Did you see anything, man?"
"No, but I can use my imagination!"
"That's rough! Your own dream and you don't get to see any of the action!"
"Yeah, I know. They were both pretty hot people too. Got me all hot and bothered…" He paused for a second as if reliving the scene. "So later on, we decide that we should send a scout team to take a first look at the place. Miho and I are nominated, so we head in. It's a nice place, but it's all shut down and it has a horrible abandoned feel to it, you know? So we go up to the seventh floor, then I remember that that I have to pee real bad. I was going to use the bathroom during the break but nobody dared enter when Amon and Robin were `fighting ghosts', and I was so turned on afterwards that I had actually forgotten that I had to pee. So I tell Miho-"
"Is she hot?" Kado interrupted again.
"Not really. Maybe in a motherly way."
"I think your mom is kind of hot!"
"Shut up, Kado!" Sakaki slapped him playfully. "Well, I tell Miho that I have to make a pit stop, so we walk into the first room we see on the floor and I go in and use the bathroom. When I come out I see Miho asleep on the bed and I'm thinking, `It's not like her to fall asleep on the job', then I see this freaky, floating shadow above her. I'm standing there, scared to death, and I can't seem to move any part of my body. That's when the shadow looks at me and grins. This isn't just a normal smile either. It's like a hellish grin, like it was about to steal my soul or something! So I scream and scream! That's when I wake up! Man, it seemed so real! Don't you hate when that happens! I wanted to see how everything turned out!"
"Whoa, man. You should write a story about it. It sounded really cool. I would read it. That demon shadow thing sounds like its really freaky!"
"Yeah, it was. I couldn't stop screaming! If I hadn't of woken up, I probably would have screamed forever."
"And you could go into details on that hot couple having dirty, hard sex."
"Yeah."
"Like I said, man, I would read it."
Sakaki jumped out of the windowsill and sat back onto his bed, where piles of comics were spread out over the blue comforter. He could almost imagine the story in his dream plastered in the pages of one of them. Maybe when he finished his homework, he could start working on a comic of his own. What could he call it? Witch Hunter Haruto? No, that would be too obvious. He turned to ask Kado's opinion on the matter and saw that his friend had slipped out of the room without his noticing. Sakaki looked around, confused, and ran over to the window to see if his friend had escaped through there. When he got over there, however, he saw that the window had been closed.
"That's strange." Sakaki said aloud, and went to open his bedroom door to ask his mother when dinner would be ready. The door to his bedroom was also closed and when he went to turn the knob, it wouldn't budge.
"It's not safe to leave yet, Haruto." He heard his mother speak from behind him. He quickly glanced backward and saw she was sitting patiently on his bed.
"What do you mean it's not safe? I…don't understand!"
"Maybe you're bored with your childhood bedroom? I could take you somewhere else!"
"What are you talking about?!" He cried, his voice rising slightly.
"I see you like Robin. Would you like to be alone in the hotel room with her? Or Amon? You seem to like him an awful lot!"
"What is happening to me?!"
"I just want you to be comfortable and safe, Haruto!"
"Hahaoya, please help me! I don't understand what's going on!"
"Haruto," she said, standing up off the bed, "I'm not your mother."
"Then…what are you?"
