Lock Down
Two days in. Kurt and Jamie were in lock down in an unknown town. Why? There was a power failure last night. A fuse exploded and shut everything down. No one was allowed to leave. Bad for this couple. Jamie stared out the window. She let out a loud groan.
“Why are we still here?!?” the girl yelled.
“Who knows?” Kurt asked on the bed. His girlfriend turned to him. She looked like she wanted to scream.
“How many times are you going to say that?!?” she asked.
“What do you want to me to say?” Kurt asked. “Nothing has changed. Nobody knows anything. It's just the same right now. We can't even get any signals here.”
“Seriously?” she asked. Her boyfriend showed her his phone. Jaime's face dropped. Kurt nodded.
“Yeah,” he said. Jamie dropped her head back.
“This sucks!” she complained.
“I know,” Kurt said. Jamie sighed.
“I wish there was something to do!” she complained.
“So do I,” her boyfriend said. “But, complaining won't do any good.”
“You're no help!”
“Sorry.”
Jamie flopped back under the window. “How long has it been?”
“Two hours?”
His girlfriend sat up. “Seriously?”
Kurt nodded. His girlfriend flopped back and sighed. Two hours with now power. They couldn't leave either. Jamie sighed.
“So what happened?”
“With what?”
“The power.”
“Oh.”
“Yeah, that.”
Kurt took a moment to think about that. “They said a fuse exploded.”
“A fuse?”
“Something like that.”
Jamie sighed. “Who cares?!? I want to get out of here!”
“So does everyone else.”
“How much longer?” Jamie asked.
“I still don't know and I still won't know!” Kurt said with gritted teeth.
“Geez, don't get snippy with me!”
“Sorry, you keep asking the same question over and over again.”
Jamie snorted. “What am I supposed to do?”
“Shut up.”
Jamie lifted her head. “Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
“Take that back!”
“NO!”
“Take it back, jerk!” Jamie picked up a pillow and threw it at Kurt.
“Hey!” He threw another pillow at her.
“Jerk!” She threw it back. The pillows continued to fly until there was a knock on the door.
“Yes?” Kurt asked.
“I brought lunch,” a man said outside. The couple calmed down and put down their pillows. Kurt walked to the door and opened it. Quiet pesto pizza for lunch.
“It's raining,” Jamie said.
“That's nice,” Kurt mumbled.
She turned to him. “Are you going to sleep now?”
“Yep.”
Jamie frowned. “Don't!”
“Make me.” He went right to sleep. His girlfriend shook her head.
“Idiot.” But then, Jamie went right to sleep herself.
The next day…
“Is the power back?”
“No, Jamie. It's not!”
She sighed aloud. “No bars?”
“Nope.”
The girl sighed again. “This is crap!”
“I know.”
Jamie sighed and laid back her head.
“And don't ask when we'll leave!”
His girlfriend sneered. “Jerk!”
“Sorry?”
Jamie shook her head. “I'm hungry.”
“Lunch will be here shortly.”
“What do we do until then?”
Kurt shrugged. “Wait.”
“Whoopee.” She sighed aloud.
“Yeah…” her boyfriend mumbled Silence.
That's all that happened for two days. That's it.
