Wolf's Rain Fan Fiction ❯ The Moon's Tears ❯ My 'Hero' ( Chapter 3 )
Authoress: Nest chapter. I'm going to be belting out chapters every two-three days (or as fast as I can) b/c finals are coming up and I want to get most of this out of the way. (I kind of neglected Baku in the last chapter…whoops) And the Wolf's Rain characters are going to be major OOC.
----------------------------------------------------------------- < p>Chapter 3 of The Moon's Tears: My 'Hero'
Khota stared at who was before hardly believing her eyes. A man in his early twenties was across from her. He had white hair and fierce looking yellow eyes that made it seem like he was daring everyone to piss him off. He wore a black outfit that revealed an almost cross shaped scar on his chest, but his looks didn't stun her, it was the fact that he was a wolf too.
"You're a wolf just like me…" she whispered staring at him. She felt somewhat childish pointing out the obvious since he obviously knew that she was a wolf too, but she'd never met another wolf besides Aki, Rayne, Baku and her brother…
He got onto his feet and glared at her, "So what?" His eyes burned into her with ferocity and contempt.
Aki, Baku and Rayne were behind her looking at the other wolf with curiosity.
"Who are you?" Baku asked folding his arms across his chest. He was getting a bad feeling from him although he was interested about this other wolf he trusted his instincts So when his instincts told him someone was bad news, they were bad news.
Khota scrambled onto her feet and gazed at him timidly, "Sorry about bumping into you." She felt an embarrassed tint of red spread across her face as she shuffled her feet.
"Damn straight you should be sorry." the opposing wolf growled bumping into her roughly as he walked past her, making her fall down on her butt again. He didn't stop to apologize, he just kept walking like she hadn't been there.
Khota stared after him and frowned, "He's not very nice." Standing up again and wiping the dust from the street off her skirt and tank top.
"What are you doing to do?" Aki said dismissively, "Some wolves are like that." She scratched her chin and noted the worried look on Khota's face, "It's best to leave that 'type' alone Khota." Aki knew that Khota would go do something stupid if she didn't head her off by talking sense into her. Aki recalled the countless times in her that Khota had gotten into trouble with people.
Even though Khota didn't show it most of the time, she liked to be helpful whenever she could despite her usual anti-social personality around those she didn't know, she always felt compelled to help. Human or wolf.
Aki didn't understand why Khota had always tried to helpful because she usually just made things worse when she did. Khota had a good heart, as Rayne would say, but her mind and coordination isn't as sharp.
Rayne nodded in agreement with Aki, "Just leave it be Khota." He said noticing Khota's expression. "Not everybody is nice like us. Some things, or some wolves, are better left alone like Aki said." He knew Khota all too well, probably better than Aki or Baku.
Khota rolled her eyes, "Still…he's a wolf just like us. Maybe he was just in…a bad mood."
"Drop it." Aki said with an irritated voice.
The three others walked on with Khota lagging behind, she felt odd. She had just bumped into another wolf and they were just going to dismiss him like he was nothing. Well, she couldn't. Her personality trademark was a shy curiosity. She debated in her head about following him since she could still smell his scent lofting around in the air on the light or sudden rushes of wind that went by.
As they walked, she lagged further behind them gradually as not to attract attention to herself until she was able to slip away unnoticed.
She dodged into the closest alley and felt somewhat bad for leaving them like that. "I'll catch up with them later…" she muttered to herself as she walked down the dark alley following the other wolf's smell.
The path of his aroma led her further into the outskirts of the city in the opposite direction her friends had been going.
As she walked she heard the faint sound of footsteps behind herself and stopped every few paces and turned around to see that no one was there.
After a bit she ignored it and become concentrated on finding the wolf from before. She didn't realize how big the city was ,but she pressed on following the scent.
As she rounded a corner a harsh voice called out from less than three meters behind her, "Freeze!"
Khota looked over her shoulder and saw a woman in her mid-twenties with brown hair in a loose ponytail, light green eyes, pale white skin, wearing a huge black trench coat and was pointing a double barreled shot gun at her. A look of dislike and hatred filled her green eyes, "And I thought wolves had good hearing." she remarked coldly. She took a few steps forward and pointed the shot gun at her head.
Khota tried to hide her surprise that a human saw through her disguise and decided to play it cool, "I'm not a wolf."
The woman chuckled darkly, "You can't fool everybody with that shitty masquerade you pull."
The color drained from Khota's face and her heart began beating faster, "You were following me."
The woman nodded, "I'm a hunter and I just so happen to specialize in hunting wolves."
"Oh…" Khota said stupidly now wishing she hadn't ignored the footsteps she had heard, "I heard you ,but I had other things on my-"
"Don't make excuses for yourself wolf." she said coolly, cutting Khota off, "There's already enough scum that do that."
Humans are always so rude, Khota thought, trying to push how frightened she was out of her mind and trying not to stare at the gun.
The woman glowered at her, "I hate wolves." she grumbled sourly not taking her eyes off Khota and touching the barrel of the gun to Khota's forehead. She could see through the human camouflage, but it was almost as if she was in a drunken gaze as she looked at the wolf because it was sort of a split sight between a person and a wolf. It kept going between a wolf form and a human form in the woman's eyes.
The woman tightened her grip on the trigger and was about to pull it when someone grabbed her arm and pushed her against the wall gruffly, "Pathetic human."
Khota looked up to see the wolf from earlier glaring down at the woman, "I-it's y-you…" she said hardly audible.
The woman straightened herself and cocked her gun at the offending wolf, "Low life dirt bag." she snarled holding the trigger again. In an instant she pulled the trigger hitting the wolf in his leg arm and knocking him back on the ground as blood splattered out of his wound profusely.
She then turned towards Khota and held up her gun, but before she could fire again the injured wolf bite her in the leg and tore out a huge chunk of it causing her to screech out in pain. Blood spilled onto the ground and a small puddle of dark red formed underneath her as she shrieked.
He wiped his bloody mouth as he quickly got onto his feet than grabbed Khota and flung her over his shoulder and darted down the alleyway ignoring the blood from his wounded leg.
"Put me down!" Khota yelled over the yelling of the hunter.
"Shut up!" The wolf barked at her limping slightly as he sprinted down another alley.
Khota scowled at him ,but was somewhat surprised how fast he could run with an injured leg.
After what seemed like an hour he entered a rundown building and threw her down on the ground, "What the hell were you doing? When a hunter holds a gun to your head you don't just try to make conversation with them! You run your ass off away before they can kill you." He yelled sitting down against a wall and holding his injured leg delicately.
"Sorry…" Khota said sitting up and hugging her knees.
"Whatever runt." he replied examining his leg.
She peered over at him feeling somewhat insulted, "My name's Khota not runt." she said in a dignified voice.
He raised as eyebrow, "Does it look like I care? Why were you following me anyway runt?"
"It's Khota." she said impatiently, "And I was following you because…you bumped into me without apologizing." Hearing those words Khota realized what a stupid reason that was. The real reason was because she was curious about him, but she knew better than to say that.
He shrugged, "Why should I apologize?"
"Because it's nice when you bump into someone to say you're sorry."
"You bumped into me first." He pointed out.
Khota closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, trying to calm herself, "That was an accident and besides, I said I was sorry anyway." She placed her hands on her hips angrily.
"You should be thanking me actually," he stated, "I saved your life after all." He added in a snotty tone that she detested.
"My hero," she commented sarcastically. "I still want an apology though!" Khota waited for him to answer, but when he didn't she stood up and declared furiously, "Fine then! I'm leaving!" She fumed as she made her way outside, not pausing to think about how childish she was being.

Authoress: I said violence, but I decided to hold out until another chapter. And you can guess who the wolf is in this chapter, he's mean ,but actually a nice guy although he'd probably never admit it *hint hint* What a short chapter too. I promise next chapter will be better, or the one after that, or the one after that…
