A/N: Hmm well, I decided to update, that's what insane boredom does to me lol …it's been a while since I updated this so my writing might have changed a bit since then but never fret! I have excellent plans for this story! I also noticed when I reread what I had so far that I didn't write the characters… meaty enough… I plan to change that - enjoy!

As the pack grew ever close to their destination Kiba could sense something wrong with Akago, however, she kept it hidden from them very well. They had ran for three days since Akago had revealed one of her secrets to Kiba and something told him she had not told him everything of that secret that night. Never mind how jumpy and silent the female had been the following morning - it had been days since she spoke to him again… at first Kiba thought she was angry at him for waking her, then he thought she was just focused on finding Cheza… but now…

Now it seemed as if Akago had her mind in another planet, like the only things carrying her was the monotonous motion of one paw in front of the other… not even Hige was having luck catching the ebony-furred wolf's attention. “Come on Akago! I was only kidding when I said you looked funny with your fur standing on end this morning… is that why you won't talk to me? It was a harmless joke, eh? Come on…” Hige sighed in defeat, her expression was set but at least she did not look angry! Hige decided if he couldn't get her to speak to him than he could try to tackle another problem… or at least, get their “fearless leader” to anyway.

Kiba saw Hige give up and trot his way toward him and he knew exactly why the moment he heard the thicker-furred wolf's stomach growl indigently. “What Hige…” Kiba sighed, knowing exactly what the brown wolf was going to ask.

“Um… so… how are you?” Hige began weakly, frowning when he realized he was so transparent to them now. “How did you know?”

“Well you stomach is louder that a waterfall…” Tsume scoffed from behind them.

“What! It is not! Stop exaggerating!” Hige whined, ignoring Toboe giggling and agreeing with the gray wolf. Kiba smiled despite his worry for Akago and shook his head.

“Can't you wait? We'll stop tonight ok?” Kiba declared, eyeing the satisfied nods from the pack; his eyes trained once again on Akago who ran ahead of them, still as silent as ever. Her mind however… was not so silent.

`Cheza… The lunar-flower… key to paradise?'

`No.' Akago almost stopped in shock but kept on going without a pause.

`No? Not the key? Who? What?' Akago frowned inwardly, was that a voice? A memory? Or her own thoughts? Did it sound like her grandfather or was she mixing her memories of him with her own thoughts?'

`Not paradise' Akago heard her grandfather again… but that was impossible right? `Then… who?' but of course she did not accept or receive an answer; she had felt sense birth that something was amiss from the well known story of the lunar-flower, passed down to every wolf from their parents and their parents' parents. Her father had not heard it from his father however, he had heard it from his mother's father… did that hold ant significance at all or was she just complicating things with the thought of her grandpa and with what she thought was her grandfather's voice?

Akago frowned when her thoughts turned to Cheza… the thought of her… it just seemed… wrong like there was a fork in the path, one leading to paradise, the other… leading somewhere else… but where?

“So I said to myself, “That can't be dangerous, right?” I mean, it looked like a harmless rat… sure it was black and white but I was just a pup! Boy did I regret that investigation…” Hige sighed as he let his story trail.

“Oh my gosh! Even I knew what a skunk was when I was a pup!” Toboe declared proudly and laughed at Hige affronted expression while the others, save one, laughed.

“You ARE a pup Toboe.” Kiba put in with a smile, glad to get any distraction from his worry over Akago.

Toboe huffed and puffed his chest before answering proudly. “I'll have you know I'm almost eleven months old.”

“Haha! You ARE a puppy!” Hige crowed, happy the tables where turned against him. Suddenly, before anyone could comment further the wolves picked up the scent of sulfer and heard the sound of a vehicle approaching.

“Akago! Stop!” Kiba called as the Noble vehicle stopped near them. “AKAGO!” but when she did hear his call she turned too late and felt liquid fire shatter into her arm forcefully. The males' eyes widened as they watched a Noble soldier fire on Akago and take her down. “NOOO!” Kiba howled and rushed full-on at the soldiers who approached the fallen wolf cautiously; they were surprised to see another, much bigger wolf charge them from behind them.

“It's another one!” One soldier cried in alarm as he turned too late to fire.

“Look at the size of it!”

“Nevermind, FIRE! SHOOT HIM-ARRGHHH!” Kiba's jaw snapped shut along the soldier's neck and he tore as hard as he could, feeling half-satisfied, half-disgusted when his ripped the human's throat and pounced to the next victim. One by one, and rather quickly at that, the soldiers were dispatched by a pack of angry wolves. When each soldier, including the driver, was dead Kiba stole away from the pack and ran to their fallen pack-member who struggled to stand. Kiba's heart was not the only one that soared when it looked like Akago was going to be ok.

“Akago!” Said wolf looked up to see a rather bloody Kiba running toward her.

“Kiba? What…What happened? Are you okay?” She asked wincing when the pain she had forgotten upon seeing him came back with a vengeance.

“This isn't my blood… it belongs to the bastards who shot you… are you ok?” The white wolf asked as he inspected her wounds quickly, relieved when he realized she had only been shot in the leg and no where fatally dangerous.

“I'm… fine.” Akago lied; it was true that physically she was ok, in pain but ok, but she was still deeply troubled by her earlier thought-track. Akago was only half-surprised when Kiba maneuvered himself so that he lifted Akago and carried her along. In his wolf form he carried her on his back with what seemed like ease, in his human form it appeared as if he held her in a bridal position, her body tucked snuggly in his arms.

As the others walked in step with Akago and Kiba they kept silent; they were a little surprised that Akago had not complained about being carried but then again, Akago was not one to complain… especially when it seemed like she really didn't mind. `Lucky bastard…' thought Tsume silently and even though he felt a tiny bit of jealousy he could not help but feel happy for the two, he knew they felt something for the other but kept it hidden, or at least tried to.

When night came they stopped as promised, near a watering-hole to boot! While Hige and Tsume went around the water-pit to hunt and Toboe napped before dinner Kiba set Akago down and pinned her with a questioning look. “Okay Akago.” Akago looked up in surprised, it was the first time since she met him that Kiba called her by her full name. “I want answers and I doubt you'd be able to run off again so you don't have any other choice but to answer this time.” The white wolf said; though his words were firm his eyes were gentle.

Akago sighed and decided that perhaps it was not so safe keeping all her worries to herself… besides, they, especially Kiba, had earned her trust, she could at least tell him. “Okay… do you remember when I told you that I don't think the paradise we're trying to get to is the right one?” she asked but continued before he could answer. “Well, the closer we get to Cheza the stronger I feel about that… somehow, I feel like there is another… another…”

“Another what?” Kiba frowned a little, piecing the puzzle and becoming even more confused, “…Another paradise?” Kiba filled in incredulously. Akago paused for a moment to collect her thought.

“…Well… yes… maybe, I don't know - I just know that there is something else and… that Cheza… that whole idea… I don't know why but…” Now Akago was tearing up, her frame shook as if she was cold and it looked as if she was a dam about to break but somehow, she kept in her misery. “I feel like it's wrong… it's just wrong!” and the dam broke; Akago turned from him, hating herself for crying in front of him but unable to stop. Kiba's eyes softened and he crept closer, nuzzling his muzzle against hers to comfort her as best he could. Akago broke and leaned against him, letting him hug her by draping his body against her with her head tucked under his neck - it was a close to an embrace as they could manage as wolves.

They stayed that way through the night; Kiba had ignored the call for dinner in favor of staying by Akago's side and keeping her warm. Food would come the next day in the form of whatever was leftover - tonight, he would remain there, by Akago. Tomorrow… they would retrieve Cheza somehow and see what road to take from there - maybe finding her would answer at least one of the many questions Akago seemed to have, one of the many secrets. Tomorrow.

End A/N: Poor Akago… what is she hiding? Hmm… Don't expect too much more from this story, too much happening in my life right now, I can't focus on my stories… don't worry though; I haven't given up on this though.
