Eternity observed as one fireman carefully carried her unconscious husband over his shoulder through the second story window, out of the burning house and down a very elevated ladder. Gradually he placed Chris onto a waiting stretcher below. The woman rushed toward the hospital bed as worried tears tumbled from her eyes.

“Is he going to be okay?” asked Eternity as she glanced at the fireman that rescued him.

She pleas, “Please… I can’t lose him.”

The fire authority smiles with confidence and nods, “Yes, he may have suffered a bad concussion but other than that he should be fine.”

Eternity hugged the man with gratitude, “Thanks for saving him. I was so scared that it was going to be too late.” The brunette sighs sadly as she pulled away from the fireman to stare at Chris’ beautiful house. The entire roof was on fire and the home was slowly losing ground.

“Poor Chris. We come to Tampa to get away from the bad stuff in L.A. and this happens,” she softly spoke.

“Fires can never be predicted. If you guys need help in finding shelter than let me know. I can give you a few addresses to a few centers,” the fireman offers.

Eternity looks from the burning house to the individual in front of her. “Thank you, but I think we’ll be okay.” She smiles at him once more before turning and getting into the pending ambulance with Chris.

Fresh tears develop as she took her husband’s hand, giving it a tiny squeeze and whispering, “I came so close to losing you.”

Chris slowly stirs and rotates his head to look at his wife. He pulled his hand away to lift and wipe away the tears that tumbled down Eternity’s cheeks. Faintly he speaks in shabby breaths, “Please don’t cry. I’m not going anywhere.”

Eternity gently turned her head to kiss the back of Chris’ hand before slightly nodding and softly speaking, “I know…” She paused from talking to look out the small window to see the house still smoldering. She adds sympathetically, “I’m so sorry about your house.”

“Don’t apologize. This isn’t your fault at all. Things like that happen sometimes.”

“Where are we going to go?”

The rock star hesitated before suggesting, “What about your parents’ place?”

At the echo of the unexpected question, Eternity grew completely quiet. She looked toward the floor in thought. She shakes her head some and glances at Chris. “No… not yet. I know a place where we could crash for a while. I’m not ready to see my parents.”

He looked at Eternity for a lengthy second before smiling, “Okay.”

It took quite a while before the flames were finally put out. One fireman searched what was left of the estate for signs of possible arson. He rummage around the front of the house first and than the back to surprisingly come across a kerosene can and blow torch stashed in a beat up silver garbage pale next to where a storage building stood. The fireman arched his eyebrows in instant suspicion as he placed gloves on his hand to removed the items and place them in a huge black waste bag. Maybe the police department could dust these for finger prints.

The fireman was about to take the substances to his fire truck until a bright shiny object lying on the ground a few itches away caught his eye. In curiosity, he strolls over, picks the entity up to discover it was a single earring and too pretty to belong to a man.

Eternity glanced up from the magazine she was reading in time to see Chris walking down the hospital hallway with a female doctor by his side. She placed the book onto a coffee table nearby before getting up and strolling close to them.

“How is he?” she instantly asked the doctor.

“Very lucky. He has a minor concussion, a few scrapes and bruises.”

Chris smiles and wrapped his arms around Eternity. “I am free to go wherever home is going to
be.”

The woman watched as the doctor walked away before placing a kiss onto Chris’ lips and returning his smile. “I’m glad you weren’t hurt seriously.”

“I guess the sex between us was so hot that it literally burned the roof off my house,” Chris playfully teases.

Eternity couldn’t help but laugh at that. “Mm… that could be possible.”

“So where is this place that you said we can crash in for a while?”

“We will be staying with an old “Black Stallion” acquaintance of mine. I called her by pay phone while you were in with the doctor and she said we could stay as long as we wanted.”

“Great,” Chris grins. “Who is she? Why did she leave the club?”

Eternity rolled her eyes slightly at the last question and responds, “Her name is Abigail Sanders and Monique is the whole entire reason my buddy no longer worked at the strip club. Monique claimed we were getting too close.”

“Too close?”

“Mmhmm… we were caught by one of Monique’s friends doing some unprofessional things in Abby’s dressing room. It got back to Monique and she was fired.” Eternity explains hoping that Chris wouldn’t think any different of her.

“So what?” Chris shrugs and adds, “Why did Monique care about what you and Abby were doing especially since she’s the owner of an exotic strip joint? Having sex on the job should be allowed at those type of places.”

“Not according to Monique. I think she was just jealous. She’s always wanted me in those ways but I would never give her the time or day. I think it’s the reason why she fired Abby.”

“Abby sounds like a person that I would love to get to know.”

Eternity smiles, “Oh she is…you’ll like her very much.”

“Great. So shall we go and meet her?” Chris suggested.

The brunette nods, “Yes.”

After those words were spoken, the couple turned to walk down the corridor and out of the medical building. Eternity couldn’t wait for Chris to meet Abby. She was one of her best friends and they practically did everything together. It’s been almost a year since Eternity has seen Abby and she had a gut feeling that things were about to get a bit spicy.
