The morning sun bathes the land of the Xavier Institute with dim light. It was eight o'clock when Lily awoke and, thinking she was back with Maxwell, she got up and ran to the kitchen. She stopped when she realized where she was and blushed at her foolishness. As fast as she could, she changed out of her dirty clothes and put on a light purple skirt that showed most of her legs and a black shirt, placing a real Lilly in her hair. After debating what to do for a minute, she ended up making tea and sat down in the living room, watching the sun come up and clouds cover it up. Sipping the green tea with hardly any desire to do so, she smiled inside and thought, “Finally it's going to rain. It's been forever since I've felt the coldness wash over me.”
“I assume you like to dance in the rain.” Her master's deep amused voice spoke in her mind, making her blush darkly. Ignoring it, Lily decided to explore the mansion. She drifted in and out of old rooms, discovering vases from Egypt, silk from Japan, and paintings from France. “Wow…My new master has a taste for cultures.” Lily muttered mostly to herself. She heard a loud booming laugh that echoed through the door and throughout the hallways.
Automatically thinking it was an intruder, she walked to the source and opened the door, only to see Xavier and a man with silver hair playing chess. Her feet stopped and melted into the ground, a blush creeping upon her snow white face, her heart skipped a beat. The man turned to her with warm blue eyes that sparkled with amusement. Thank goodness, she thought, I had changed into better clothing before this.
“Ah, Lily, I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, Erik Lensherr. Erik, this is the girl I was telling you about, Lily Rayne.” Charles's voice snapped her out of her state of shock. Silently she walked to her master's side and blushed again, staring at the floor.
Irritated at the fact that these two men made her self-conscious, she tried to sound brave, “Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Lensherr.” Her black hair was pulled back into a ponytail with a black skull hair tie, a few violet highlights falling into her vision while the flower tucked behind her ear glistened in the light.
Unable to help himself, Magneto reached out and traced the scar around her neck which stood out even more since her face was aflame with embarrassment. “This was the slave you were talking about, eh Charles? Pleasure to meet you too my dear. Tell me, how is my old friend treating you?”
“Master is treating me kindly.” The reply was short and simple for she feared there was more talk about her then she realized. Her suspicions were right, Charles noted silently, because she nearly walked in on their discussion about her powers. She was a class five mutant, able to read minds and move things as well as fly. He even suspected that she could control storms since she seemed to connect so easily to them.
Erik chuckled softly, “I see. Well, Charles, shall we continue our game?” No matter how casual he made it sound, this soon-to-be-villain had a plan to take this girl with him sooner or later. She had enormous power, it showed in her eyes, but it was obvious that she was oblivious to it…or maybe his old friend had hid it from her.
The girl played with the torn ends of her skirt while watching them strategize and play chess. She couldn't help but smirk at how they acted; it was as if Xavier had met his match. Her attention was divided though for she kept watching Magneto. She couldn't explain why she felt so attracted to him and why she felt that he held a dark secret with him. Either way, she got them both some tea as a good slave would and sat near the window, staring at the dark black clouds.
“Um…Charles, may I go outside?” Lily asked tensely, wondering if he would act harsh around his guest. With a simple nod towards her direction, the girl nearly sprinted outside just as it poured rain.
Giggling softly, she tilted her head back and let the cool drops of liquid wash over her body, cleansing her soul. As she was lost in her own world, Magneto watched her closely, “Charles, I have to ask, does she know about her powers?”
His Queen was taken, thanks to the distraction outside, as Xavier replied, “No, I haven't had the time to talk about it yet. What are you planning, old friend?” They had been friends since their teen years but the Professor was always suspicious and worried when it came to power.
Erik, obviously not caring or noticing that his Queen was taken, moved the Knight closer to his King, “Nothing, old friend. Check, by the way. She's a beautiful girl…she's bound to figure out the control of the world she has sooner or later. I'm simply saying that she needs to know soon before she rebels against you and goes with someone else.”
His eyes narrowed as he moved his King one space away, “I've been nothing but nice to her and I'm planning to tell her within the week or less. Lily, from what I've witnessed so far, wouldn't try to harm anyone.”
That made his opponent laugh, “Come now Charles, don't be so blind! She's itching to run and be free. You've been in her mind and I can see it in your eyes that you know I'm right. Sometimes you need to collar a creature just to control it, am I right Charles? After all, isn't that what you're planning to do? From what I've witnessed, she's smitten with you and me. I'm just telling you that one day she might go with another to fulfill her…personal gains and goals. You can't cage a beast forever, old friend. Checkmate.” Through the whole conversation, Xavier had not seen the trap and with one swift move, he had lost the game.
Grabbing his hat and smiling at him, Erik said his good-byes and left outside to see the child like flower still dancing in the rain. Smirking, he walked to his car and thought, “Soon, Lily, you'll be mine…”
