Chapter Forty: Party Alone:

April knocked on Kyosuke's door.

“Babe!” she shouted. “Come on, let's go.” She knocked again. This time, the door opened. Kyosuke greeted. April had a confused look on her face.

“You're wearing that to the party?” she asked. Kyosuke looked down at his jeans and black shirt.

“Yeah,” he said. “What's wrong with it?”

“It's well… okay…” she said. Kyosuke frowned.

“It's that's bad, huh?” he asked.

“No!” April said. “It's fine. Just come on.” She grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him along.

“Whoa!” Kyosuke shouted. They hurried out to the street.

April made a cute cat with her costume. She was the one who invited him out. Kyosuke started to blush.

“Thanks for inviting me out,” he said.

“Come on,” April said. “You don't have to be so formal. We're dating after all.”

“Oh, yeah, yeah,” Kyosuke said. “Of course.” This felt new to him Kyosuke never had a stable girlfriend before.

“So where are we going?” he asked. April smiled.

“To a downtown party,” she said. “Charlotte and Takashi will be there.”

“Ah,” Kyosuke said. He has his eyes on her long black tail. His cheeks reddened. So cute… He cleared his throat.

“Where exactly is the party?” the shinigami asked. April glanced over her shoulder.

“A small new club that just opened up last week,” she said. “I think you're going to like it.”

“But I don't party much,” Kyosuke said.

“I know,” she said. “That's why this will be perfect.” The couple stopped at a cross light. Kyosuke gulped.

“April-san?” he asked. The kitty glanced over at him.

“Hm?” she asked. He lowered his eyes and gulped.

“Can I… hold your hand?” the shinigami asked. April smiled.

“Sure,” she said.

“Thank you,” her boyfriend said. He grabbed her hand. The warming sensation formed in his chest.

“I know what you are thinking,” April said. Kyosuke about jumped.

“Why?” he asked. She broke into laughter. Kyosuke's face turned bright red.

“What?!” he wailed. April didn't stop laughing. The light changed to walk. Kyosuke lowered his head. He felt her tagging him along.

“Come on,” she said. “We have to get going.” Kyosuke didn't get a chance to speak as they disappeared into the crowd. His face turned bright red. April smiled to herself. She still loved to mess with him.

Charlotte smiled at herself in the mirror. She loved every detail of her pink fairy costume. The woman turned when she heard a knock on her door.

“Ready to go?” Takashi asked. She smiled as she opened her bedroom door. The blind angel stood dressed in black. Charlotte smiled and kissed him on the cheek.

“Let's go,” she whispered. Charlotte took him by the arm and they headed out to the door.

The party just keeps on coming for Halloween.
