Chapter One: Love or Hate?
Slowly walking up the hills of Nagasaki, Tsuzuki looks over the city with sadness tracing his being. It has only been six months since Kyoto and everyone seems to want to forget that it ever happened. He cannot forget the pain within his broken heart. While leaning against the cold railing, Tsuzuki remembers those words from the mad doctor. They are descendants of darkness forever to live in darkness. Tsuzuki looks down to see the wrist watch that covers his scars. The scars that never heal even if his body heals itself. The cold wind howls out to warn the empty city of Tsuzuki's haunting presence. Falling to his knees, Tsuzuki wraps his arms around his numb body. He wishes to die once again.
Unknown to him, a tall man is watching his every move. While walking towards Tsuzuki in slow movements, he asks, "Why do you come here, Tsuzuki-san?"
Freezing up when he hears that silk voice, Tsuzuki whispers, "Stop haunting me." Every time he comes to get away, this man in all white shows himself. The fear within Tsuzuki makes him not look back. Never see who truly haunts him. Finally gaining enough strength, Tsuzuki stands up and faces the man who drives him mad. Why do they see each other like this? Why does Tsuzuki feel a strong desire to this man? What seems like forever, Tsuzuki stares at him not believing he is seeing his enemy. With unknown force, Tsuzuki finds himself in comforting arms of warmth. He voices the question that he has been dying to know, "Why are you here?" This man is inside his mind, inside his heart, and inside his soul. The man who drove him into insanity. The tears flow down his face freely. Not knowing the reason behind those cold eyes and desiring to see them over and over again.
The man in all white whispers, "I will come for you, Tsuzuki-san. When I do, I will make you mine." Pulling the guardian's chin up, Muraki leans down and kisses Tsuzuki with passion unknown to man.
Jumping up from his bed, Tsuzuki looks around for someone in all white. As he sighs with relief, Tsuzuki walks to the kitchen for a late night snack. He grabs an apple pie from the fridge and takes a seat to eat it. Eating very slow, Tsuzuki thinks over the dream. He touches his lips with his fingers to feel the kiss once again. While leaning back against the chair, Tsuzuki mumbles, "What are you doing Muraki?" Why does Tsuzuki keep dreaming of a man he swore to hate? In Tsuzuki's heart, he knows there is no hate for that man. He still loves him even with what Muraki has done to him and his friends. Hearing the door between the living room to the kitchen open and shut, Tsuzuki whispers, "Sorry that I woke you up, Soka."
Sitting across from Tsuzuki, the blonde guardian notices the half-eaten apple pie. He leans his head against his hands. It is killing him inside to feel the emotions from his partner. The emotions of pain and fear, but why would he feel fear? Hisoka asks, "What is going on, Tsuzuki? You have been out of it for a week now?"
Silently being glad that Hisoka doesn't know what is going through his mind, Tsuzuki whispers, "Nothing. Just not sleeping." The mind is playing with him and Tsuzuki can't stand it. His heart is telling him to find Muraki, but his mind is telling him stop thinking about the crazy doctor. When a hand touches him, Tsuzuki pulls away quickly. He states, "Don't touch me." Standing up, Tsuzuki walks out the kitchen quickly to head to his bedroom. There he will be safe from all those questions Hisoka wants to ask. Questions, Tsuzuki can't answer because he will lose his friend forever. Sitting on the window seal, Tsuzuki stares out the window to seek out his answers. It calms him down from the dreams he has been having. As he leans his head against the cold surface, Tsuzuki breathes out the name of a man who should be his enemy but has his heart, "Muraki." Waking to the sound of pounding, Tsuzuki figures he must have fallen asleep. Within minutes, Tsuzuki is ready to go to work. Another day with the same work. It never changes. As he walks into Tatsumi's office to state his arrival, Tsuzuki observes the office to notice some new plants.
To his surprise, Tatsumi finds his friend standing there. Shaking his head, Tatsumi asks, "What are you doing here, Tsuzuki-san?"
Quickly turning his head to look at Tatsumi, Tsuzuki realizes today was his day off. He can't believe he showed up today. As he bows his head, Tsuzuki replies, "Sorry. It must have slipped my mind." Why can't he remember things clearly anymore? With all those haunting dreams, Tsuzuki finds it hard to focus on anything.
Tilting his head to the side, Tatsumi states with a gentle smile only for Tsuzuki, "Go home and get some rest, Tsuzuki-san."
Tsuzuki nods his head and leaves the office. With no place in mind, Tsuzuki finds himself wondering the mortal world. He finds peace in a place where he does not exist. Within a couple of minutes, Tsuzuki takes a seat on the bench to watch the birds fly around. To his surprise, no one is at the park playing around. It is creepy when no one is with you. Shaking from the chill of the wind, Tsuzuki pulls his coat around him to keep warm.
A silk voice speaks, "I am glad you came, Tsuzuki-san."
Tsuzuki freezes in that one spot afraid to turn around to see him there. Feeling someone take a seat next to him, Tsuzuki turns to stare at the man he has been dreaming about for almost a week now. It is him. It is Muraki. They always meet like fate pulling them together. Fate must be laughing at Tsuzuki right this minute. All he wishes to do is kiss this attractive man and stop denying his feelings. As he looks at the ground, Tsuzuki asks in a whispering voice, "What are you doing here, Muraki?"
When Tsuzuki speaks his name, a small smile trances his thin lips. Muraki replies, "I came to make a deal with you, my dear Tsuzuki-san." To his amusement, Tsuzuki turns to stare at him quickly. Chuckling at the guardian of death, Muraki thinks of all the ways he can make Tsuzuki his. Muraki being blurt about the deal, "I will stop killing if you sleep with me until I get tired of it." The way Tsuzuki is staring at him with wide purple eyes makes Muraki crave this man more. While lighting up a cigarette, Muraki asks, "What do you think, Tsuzuki-san? I think it is a good deal. You get what you want and I get what I have been waiting for."
Staring with fear in his eyes, Tsuzuki can't believe Muraki said that out loud. As he feels the warmth raise to his cheeks, Tsuzuki cruses his blushing reflexes. When Muraki leans to him, Tsuzuki backs up and stutters, "I'll . . . I'll do it . . . it." What did he just agree to? Watching Muraki's creepy smirk on his face, Tsuzuki feels like he doomed himself to a fate no one wishes for. Thinking over the whole deal, Tsuzuki asks, "When does it start? And we would have to have some guidelines for this little deal." What the hell is he feeling like this is some kind of relationship?
Muraki smirks and replies, "Of course. I would like to start tonight. Then we can discuss the guidelines." As Tsuzuki nods his head, Muraki resorts, "Meet me here at nine tonight. Do not be last, my dear guardian of death." He stands up and walks away from Tsuzuki.
Tsuzuki leans his head back to realize what he just did. As he stands up, Tsuzuki mumbles, "I must be out of my mind." He returns to Meifu to find Hisoka and Watari waiting for him at his apartment. Taking a seat in a soft chair near the couch, Tsuzuki asks, "What's up?"
Hisoka looks down at the ground. He isn't sure how to say this to his partner. With all the thoughts within Tsuzuki, Hisoka finds it difficult. Choosing his words carefully, Hisoka states, "My curse is gone. With that Muraki is dead."
Watari adds his two sense, "We even checked his candle and it is true. Muraki is gone for good."
Dizziness over comes Tsuzuki when he hears that Muraki is dead. How can that be possible? Tsuzuki just saw him a little while ago. What the hell is Muraki trying to pull on Tsuzuki? Calming himself down, Tsuzuki states in a calm voice, "Okay." When he stands up, Hisoka grabs his arm. Tsuzuki pulls his arm away and realizes Hisoka knew all this time what he has been feeling. Lowering his head, Tsuzuki explains, "I'll be fine. I could not be with a man like him anyways. It was stupid of me to even feel that way for him." He walks into his bedroom to think over everything that happened. If Muraki is dead, then was Tsuzuki just dreaming of him. Sighing out loud, Tsuzuki mumbles to the cold room, "There is only one way to know and that is meet whoever tonight." The time goes fast and it almost nine at night. He goes to the same park he was at early to see if what happened earlier that day was just a dream.
A silk voice rings next to his ear, "I am glad you made it here on time. I really did not want to make sure you would listen next time." He watches Tsuzuki turn around fast. Oh, this is to good for him. Chuckling at Tsuzuki, Muraki replies with a smirk, "I see they told you of my so-called death." Tsuzuki's eyes questions him and Muraki explains, "I learned new tricks after Kyoto, my dear Asato. I took back the curse on the bouya and made sure my candle would make everyone believe I was dead." That was the only way to escape the Ministries of Hades. While taking Tsuzuki into his arms, Muraki whispers into the guardian's ear, "Now, it is time for you to hold your end of the deal. You are mine. Remember that." White feathers fly around them and they disappear into the night air.
When Tsuzuki opens his eyes, he finds himself in a huge bedroom. Observing the room, Tsuzuki finds rose petals over the bed. The scent of the roses makes Tsuzuki caves for the feel of those soft petals. He walks to the bed and touches the roses to feel the softness. When he feels strong arms around his waist, Tsuzuki jumps from being startled out of his thoughts. Turning around to face this very dangerous man, Tsuzuki resorts, "You said that we would talk about guidelines."
Releasing his hold on the guardian, Muraki takes a seat on the chair in the corner. He did promise that to his dear purple eye lover. So, Muraki will let Tsuzuki have his say. Muraki replies, "Yes, I did. Tell me what you want and I will tell you if I agree."
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Tsuzuki thinks over everything. Now, he has to make some guidelines for Muraki and hope that this crazy doctor will agree with his terms. As he sighs, Tsuzuki explains, "First, you can't call me while I'm at work." When Muraki nods his head to agree with the demand, Tsuzuki continues, "Second, no one must know about this." Muraki raises an eyebrow to that one and Tsuzuki silently pleads that Muraki will agree. He explains more, "I do not want my friends to know I'm sleeping with an evil man." It takes a few minutes before Muraki nods his head. Tsuzuki thinks a little longer. Shrugging his shoulders, Tsuzuki states, "That is all I think of right now."
Smiling at the beautiful man before his eyes, Muraki resorts, "I have one condition." When Tsuzuki stares at him, Muraki states his condition, "I want you for the entire weekend. I know that you do not work on the weekends. I will still have you at nights after you work." Tsuzuki lowers his head but nods to let Muraki know he agrees. While standing up, Muraki asks, "Would you care for some red wine, Asato?"
His name rolling off those soft lips makes Tsuzuki jump with excitement. How can this one man do this to Tsuzuki? Taking the glass of wine from Muraki, Tsuzuki takes a slip. As he watches Muraki slip his wine, Tsuzuki asks, "Why are you doing this?" It is not like Muraki to give into this deal without having something in return. Well, he will gain Tsuzuki's body but there is more to this. Without killing, Muraki is powerless and Tsuzuki knows that all too well.
Pondering over Tsuzuki's question, Muraki answers with amusement, "Well, my dear guardian, I will gain you. Your powers are so delicious." He chuckles at the site before his eyes. Tsuzuki staring at him with wide purple eyes. Slowly rubbing his finger around the wine glass, Muraki keeps eye contract and resorts, "Do not worry, Asato. I will not harm a single person even in Meifu as long as you keep me busy." He smirks with that statement. As he stands up, Muraki watches Tsuzuki closely. The fun begins tonight and he will enjoy ever moment of it.
