DemonGirl-Setsuna: Hi there! Setsuna here!

My room-mate; Vaya Kava, was completely freaked out by Muraki's doll-collection and she says that his English-voice actor sounds like a snob with his nose plugged!

*Laughs* And I agree! About the actor's voice, I mean!

Anyway…

Here is Chapter 2!

Please Enjoy!

“He was fine and walking around yesterday, how could he have taken such a turn for the worst?”, a doctor says, as he looks at the medical-chart and to the sickly-weak 13 year old Hisoka in the hospital-bed.

“I don't know, doctor. The blood-tests from when he first came in were negative for any diseases, except the food-poisoning he was brought in for”, the nurse replies, “But he was recovering”.

“Perhaps, he recently caught a illness…”, the doctor mutters, as he walks from the room followed by the nurse, leaving the young Hisoka alone in the bed.

No… An illness isn't the cause of it…, the present-day Hisoka says to himself, It is the result of what Muraki had done to me… But I didn't remember it then after he sealed away my memory of that night…, he woefully adds, as he looks down at himself in the bed.

A knock on the door catches both; the one looking back at this moment and the one living it, Hisoka's attentions, causing them to look and see a young woman standing there, but her face was shadowed by her black hair.

(A/N: Look at screen-shots from episode 8 of `Descendants of Darkness' for images of Eileen!)

“Hi there!”, she says, as she walks in.

“Hi, who are you?”, the bed-ridden Hisoka questions.

“I'm *~*~*~*~*~*”, she introduces, but her name was not clear enough for the present-day Hisoka to understand, as she sits down on the edge of the bed, “I heard you've not feeling well, all of a sudden…”

“What are you doing here?”

“I'm a college-student, and for one of my classes I have to mentor a patient at this hospital. And I've chosen you, because you look like you're in need of a friend…”, she states, “So what's your name?”

“Hisoka… Hisoka Kurosaki…”, he weakly replies.

“Pleased to meet you, Hisoka”, she smiles, “So, how old are you?”

“13 years old…”

“13, huh? I have a little brother back in Tokyo about the same age…”

“You live in Tokyo!”, he excitedly exclaims, as he sits up in bed.

“Yep, well at least I did until I moved here to Kamakura to attend college…”, she laughs, as she ruffs his hair up with her hand, causing him to slightly flinch from the contact, “What's wrong, Hisoka?”

“It's nothing, I've just never had my hair ruffled like that before…”, he quietly answers.

“Hisoka… Tell me, before you were in the hospital, did… Did your parents abuse you…?”, she asks, her voice barely going above a whisper.

Hisoka cringes as he thinks of something, “N-no, they didn't…”, he says, with his green eyes downcast.

“Hisoka… Locking you in a cell just because you used your ability is what's called abuse…”, she states, running her fingers gently through his soft light golden-brown hair, causing him to gasp as he looks up at her.

“H-how…? How did you know about my empathy…?”, he quietly questions, fear beginning to form on his face.

“Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you because of your secret…”, she lightly chuckles, “Because I have the same ability…”, she whispers, as she smiles reassuringly.

“Does your family know…?”

“Yes, my family knows. They've even approved of it, they saw it as a blessing”, she replies, “In fact, my brother wishes he had the power of empathy…”

“I wish I could meet your family…”, he sighs.

“Maybe you will someday”.

-Fast Forward in Time-
-To Three Years Later-

“Hisoka…?”, the young woman says, as she sat at his bedside, holding his hand, but he doesn't respond as he blankly stares at the wall in front of him, “I don't know if you can still hear me, but I'm here with you… Your parents haven't arrived yet…”, she states, trying to choke back her tears.

“*~*~*~*~*…”, Hisoka very weakly calls her name.

“Yes…?”, she asks, as she stands up to lean over him to carefully listen to him and maybe read his lips as he spoke while still holding his hand.

“Do you remember my birthday…last month…?”

“Yes, I do…”, she replies, her tears breaking loose, “I brought you a small ice-cream cake…”

“You were the only one to visit me… with the card your brother made for me…”, he weakly laughs, “And, also…”

“Also what?”

“Do you think you could sing to me, you know that song you sang on the rainy-day…?”

“Sure…”, she sadly smiles.

Been a long road to follow
Been there and gone tomorrow
Without saying goodbye to yesterday
Are the memories I hold still valid?
Or have the tears deluded them?
Maybe this time tomorrow
The rain will cease to follow
And the mist will fade into one more today
Something somewhere out there keeps calling
Am I going home?
Will I hear someone singing solace to the silent moon?
Zero gravity what's it like?
Am I alone?
Is somebody there beyond these heavy aching feet
Still the road keeps on telling me to go on
Something is pulling me
I feel the gravity of it all…, she sang, her voice sounding like it belonged to a divine living-being.

“I know the doctors said that me dying is caused by an incurable illness, but…”, he weakly began, “But… I think I may have been murdered… starting the night before I met you… You probably don't believe me though…”, he scoffs.

“No… I believe you, Hisoka…”, she sobs, quite upset that he was dying right in front of her and she couldn't do anything to stop it, “I believe you…”, she repeats.

“I'm…glad…”, he trails off, as his eyes slowly droop close, “That…I… found…a…fri… end…like…”, his voice fails him as he mouths `you', before his hand limply slides from the woman's hand and lands noisily onto the bed.

“Hisoka…? Hisoka…?”, she panicky asks in disbelieve as the heart-monitor droned out flat-line, “No…”, she whispers in horror, “I believe you Hisoka…”, she quietly says to him as she plants a gentle kiss on his temple.

So… I didn't die alone like I first thought… That woman was with me the whole time after Muraki's attack on me… Except that time she had to go to Nagasaki to chaperone her brother's class-trip a year before my death…, present-day Hisoka slightly smiles to himself, glad that he wasn't alone, I wish I could remember her name though…cause she's practically my first crush…, he says, as he is blinded by a bright light, ending the dream.

-------------------

Hisoka slowly blinks open his emerald-colored eyes, wincing against the bright sunlight streaming in through the train-car window.

“Morning, sleepy-head!”, he heard a cheerful greeting to his left, making him turn his head to see his temporary partner Kira sitting on the seat across from him and himself laid out on top of the other seat in the compartment-room with Kira's coat draped over him like a blanket, “How did you sleep?”, he asks, his garnet-colored eyes sparkling.

“Surprisingly well…”, Hisoka yawns, “What time is it?”

“7 am and we're arriving in Okayama-station, where we need to change trains to get to Izumo”, Kira explains.

(A/N: I don't know if you DO have to change trains or not, but for the story they have to change trains!)

“But we left at 7 pm, the train-ride is only 12-hours long…”

“I know, but the train got delayed in Himeji”.

“What happened?”

“Someone tried to commit suicide by jumping onto the tracks in front of the train as it pulled into the station…”, he replies, “The bastard luckily survived with only a few broken-bones and cuts…”

“Crazy people… why must they be like that…”, Hisoka groans.

“No one understands how the mind works…”, Kira shrugs.

(Now arriving in Okayama-station, passengers traveling to Izumo please disembark from the train to catch your connecting train to Izumo, and the passengers continuing to Takamatsu please remained seated. The train will be leaving in 30-minutes), the Pa-system announces.

“This is our stop for now”, Kira smiles, retrieving his coat from Hisoka.

“So it is… How long till the train to Izumo?”

“Don't know, never had a problem with delayed trains before…”, he states, reaching down to pick up his suitcase and Hisoka's backpack just as Hisoka reached for it, his hand bumping into Kira's bare-wrist.

An image of Kira strapped-down to a hospital-bed being sedated by a nurse flashes in Hisoka's mind, “You…”, he began, “You were hospitalized…?”

“You saw a glimpse of my past… didn't you…?”, Kira hesitantly questions, fearfully drawing his hand close to his chest.

“Yes, I did. What happened to you?”

“I tried to stand up to the family of a friend of mine after he was murdered, but for my determination, I was thrown into a mental-institute in Tokyo. Where I saw my friend's murderer and I tried to avenge him, but I was strapped-down and sedated, then…then…”, he stammers, hugging his shoulders, “Then his murderer took advantage of me while I was helpless… It was like that for 8-months until I committed suicide last week to escape…”, he forces out, while trembling.

“Suicide…? How…?”, Hisoka quietly asks.

“I refused to eat for a week before I injected myself with a large-amount of insulin, causing my body to crash into a state called; Hypoglycema, also called diabetic-shock…”

“You're diabetic?”

“No… I'm not diabetic… The insulin caused the levels of my blood glucose; sugars, to become dangerously low. So low, that my body's organs shut down and I died two days after I fell into a coma…”

“Suicide by natural-means, very rare way to die…”

“I'm not proud for the method of my death, but I escaped the living hell I was in”, he replies, heading for the hall, “Well, we should get off before we're on our way to Takamatsu, instead of Izumo”.

`I never realized that someone as cheerful as Kira and Tsuzuki could have pasts so bad that they had to commit suicide to escape…', Hisoka thinks as he follows Kira off the train, `Just looking at them, you'd think that nothing bothers them…'

-------------------------

-At the Train Station Ticket Counter-

“You have got to be kidding me!”, Kira exclaims, “We missed the connecting-train to Izumo?”

“Yes sir. The train left twenty-minutes ago”, the woman behind the ticket-counter says, “And the next one won't be until tomorrow morning”.

“Just great…”, Kira groans, as he walks away from the counter.

“We missed the train, didn't we?”, Hisoka states, with his arms crossed in front of himself.

“Yep…”, he growls.

“Do you think we can now get to Izumo in spirit-form?”

“Might as well…”, Kira sighs, “We should have been there an hour ago…”

“Follow me, rookie…”

“Yes sir…”, he replies, making his body invisible and formless as Hisoka did.

-------------------------

-Outside Izumo-

“Finally! We've made it!”, Kira exclaims, as he stretches.

“You seem glad…”, Hisoka says, looking down at the city below the cliff they stood on.

“I am! I was born here and lived here until I was 11 years old, then my family moved to Tokyo”, Kira explains, “I haven't been here in 10 years!”

“So you know your way around then”.

“Yep! Now let's go secure a hotel-room! Before all the good rooms are taken by the tourists visiting for the festival!”, he states, running down the road towards town.

“If I can survive with Tsuzuki, I guess I can survive with Kira too…”, Hisoka groans at his partner's antics as follows after him.
