Chapter 12

"Rematch"

Sapphire watched as everyone danced and talked in Tomoyo's house. He still remembered the duel that he and Yami faced. He clenched his fist at the thought that Yami nearly defeated him. He wanted to duel him again…

Yugi: Hey Sapphire. What's going on?

Sapphire: I feel bad for not allowing us to finish that duel back in Paris, remember?

Yugi: Oh yeah.

Sapphire: Why don't we have a rematch…right now?

Yugi: Why?

Sapphire: Remember when I said the duelist who would win would be allowed to have the next spirit? Yugi, you and I aren't enemies but we're still rivals.

Yugi nodded.

Sapphire: So Yugi, whoever wins the duel will capture the third spirit…how about it?

Yugi: You know I can't resist a duel.

Joey: Duel? Where?

Tea and Joey walked up to them.

Sapphire: Just remember Yugi. I have dark cards. You wouldn't want to be surrounded by darkness would you?

Yugi: YU-GI-OH!!!!

He transformed into Yami.

Yami: Let's duel!

Sakura, Syaoran, and Tomoyo followed them outside. Sapphire pointed his hand to the ground and a dueling arena came out of the ground. Yami and Sapphire got to their sides and shuffled their decks.

Sapphire: Are you ready Yami?

Yami: Of course. Go ahead, start.

Sapphire: Oh, and if our monster is destroyed while in attack mode, we lose the amount of attack points it had. So we should start at 6000 to make it interesting.

The score was Y: 6000 S: 6000. Sapphire looked at his deck.

Sapphire: I play this in attack mode.

The card he chose was Portrait's Secret (1200A/1500D)

Yami looked at Sapphire.

Yami: I wonder what he's up to.

Sapphire: Your move Yami.

Yami: I play Gazelle, the King of Mythical Beasts (1500A/1200D) in attack mode! Destroy Sapphire's monster.

In an instant, Sapphire's monster was destroyed. Y: 6000 S: 4800.

Sapphire: Fine with me. Now I summon The Gross Ghost of Fled Dreams (1300A/1800) in attack mode!

Yami: That monster is also weaker than mine. Sapphire definitely wants me to attack. O well, what choice do I have?

Joey: Go Yugi!

Sakura: Yugi will win. He almost beat Sapphire last time.

Yami: Gazelle, attack his monster!

Once again, Sapphire's monster was defeated. Y: 6000 S: 3500.

Sapphire looked in his deck.

Sapphire: I summon The Headless Knight (1450A/1700D) in attack mode!

Yami: Wow Sapphire. I'm ashamed. This is becoming a very simple duel just like before. Attack Gazelle!!!

Sapphire's monster was destroyed and his life points decreased more. Y: 6000 S: 2050.

Tea: Wow, this duel is going fast.

Joey: Come on Yugi! Kick his ass!!!

Sapphire grinned.

Sapphire: You felt into my trap Yami.

Everyone gasped.

Yami: What do you mean?

Sapphire: I summon Dark Necrofear (2200A/2800D) in attack mode!

Yami: No!

Sapphire: Destroy Yami's monster!

Yami's Gazelle was destroyed. Y: 3800 S: 2050.

Yami then grinned.

Yami: Sapphire, this was the easiest duel I have ever faced.

Sapphire frowned.

Yami: A six-year-old is a better duelist than you. You clearly need to learn more about the game. As we said, the winner gets the third spirit.

Sapphire: Bullshit! The duel's not over yet!

Yami: I'm afraid so.

Joey smiled.

Yami: I summon Dark Magician Girl (2000A/1700D) in attack mode!

Sapphire smirked.

Sapphire: That monster is weaker than mine by 200 points!

Yami grinned.

Yami: Then I will use this magic card!

He took out Magic Formula.

Sapphire: What does that do?

Yami: It raises my monster's attack points by 500. (2500A/1700D). Which makes my monster stronger than yours! Attack!!

Sapphire grinned.
Sapphire: Not so fast Yami!

Yami's eyes widened.
Sapphire: I play Counter, which returns the attack to your monster!

Yami frowned. Y: 1300 S: 2050.

Sakura: Oh no! Yami, or Yugi, is losing.

Joey: Yeah.

Yami: I guess you're better than I thought.

He looked at his deck.

Yami: Damn! I have no cards as strong as his monster. I guess I overestimated Sapphire's skill.

Sapphire: Come on Yami, we don't have all day!

Yami: Sapphire, I've been meaning to ask you something.

Sapphire: What?

Yami: Why do you want to receive all the spirits? Do you want to bring your dad? Do you want ultimate power?

Princess: He wants dad all right.

Everyone turned around and saw Princess.

Sapphire and Yami: Princess!

Princess: Just because someone wins this duel doesn't mean they're going to capture the third spirit. Sapphire, you are the dumbest being in existence. You thought you were immortal! Ha!

Sapphire: Well then explain why we don't grow.

Princess: Because dad didn't want us to grow up and realize everything he has does. He thinks we're stupid.

Sakura: Thinks? Isn't he dead?

Princess: I doubt it. He is alive somewhere. After I capture all the spirits I will destroy him and Sapphire! Everyone has betrayed me…even you Yami.

Yami: No!

Tears were in Princess' eyes.

Princess: I loved you and you gave up on me.

Yami: That's not true.

Princess: Then why are you with the card mistress?

Syaoran's eyes widened.
Syaoran: You… are with him?

Sakura: No! And besides, I'm not with you either.

Yami: I don't love Sakura.

Princess: You did. Twice.

Sakura: Wait! Did I fall in love with Yami or Yugi?

Tea: I'm confused!

Princess: I don't care anymore.

Yami: You keep saying that, but we both it's not true. You're jealous of Sakura.

Sakura blushed.

Princess: Whatever….

She grinned.

Princess: I'll just kill her as well.

Sakura's eyes widened. Yami gasped.

Sakura: What?

Princess: Card mistress. Mark my words; once I capture the spirits, you and my brother will die together.

Tears were in Tomoyo's eyes.

Yami: You're taking this too far, Princess!

Princess: Maybe when she's gone, you'll come back to me.

Yami: I will never do that if you kill her.

Princess grinned.

Princess: Then come after me to stop me.

She flew towards the sky.

Yami headed off the arena but Sapphire stopped him.

Sapphire: Yami, if you step out of the duel, you lose.

Joey: What?

Tea: That's not fair.

Yami: Fine. I'll finish this duel fast. First I'll use the magic card, Monster Reborn, to bring my Dark Magician Girl back on the field. Plus she comes back as strong as when she was destroyed. So the 500 points I used to make her stronger stays.

Sapphire: WHAT?

Dark Magician Girl (2500A/1700D) returned to the arena.

Yami: Now, destroy his Dark Necrofear (2200A/2800D)!!

The female magician did so and the final score was

Y: 1300 S: 0.

Yami: I have to go.

Tea: Be careful Yami…

He started flying after Princess and landed in the park.

Yami: Princess stop this!

Princess: Why? I have nothing more to live for.

Yami: Princess…

Princess: Why did you break it off? Why did you go off and falling for other girls?

Yami walked towards her so he could see her eyes.

Yami: It just didn't work out.

Princess: You mean, you don't love me anymore?

Yami shook his head.

Princess grabbed him and kissed him passionately in the lips. She put her arms around her. Yami was shocked but kissed her back and he put her arms around her as well.
