A/N: Ok this is perhaps the most random fic idea I have ever had, don't ask where it came from because I couldn't tell you. I hope you enjoy it!

~Hi no yami~

The sun shone brightly on the inhabitants of Domino City. People ambled casually along, children and teenagers alike rejoicing in the warm Saturday afternoon. Even the adults seemed in a far more relaxed mood on this beautiful day. It was as if the sun lulled everyone into a sense of calm. All was well in the sleepy afternoon, until the arrival of two teenagers.

The blonde raced through the streets, feet pounding the sidewalk at an alarming rate. In his hand, clutched tightly by the wrist and attempting to keep up was a brunette girl. Suddenly she screamed and dug her heels fiercely into the sidewalk in an effort to slow them down. The blonde glanced back at his companion in confusion, causing them to crash headlong into the person rounding the corner. All three fell to the ground. The blonde boy was the first to recover, brushing himself off and helping his brunette companion to her feet. He took her gloved hand and carefully inspected her for injuries.

"You ok?" His companion smiled and squeezed his hand. The blonde then turned his attention to the person on the ground. Bending down he took the girls hand and pulled her to her feet.

"I'm really sorry about that, guess I wasn't paying attention to where I was going." His handsome face was covered in a sheepish grin. It was so infectious that the girl bit back the retort that was on the tip of her tongue.

"It's ok, neither was I. I'm Anzu by the way" The boy smiled.

"T.K." then he pointed to his companion "and this is Kari." Anzu smiled at the other girl, who was trying to pry her hand free from T.K.'s.

"T.K., I can introduce myself you know" she mock scolded while hitting him lightly on the shoulder, "Stop being so overprotective" she added under her breath. T.K. smiled and dropped her hand only to snatch it up again as he saw a tuft of blonde hair round the corner. Honey brown eyes took in three teenagers.

"Hey guys! I found Anzu and she made some new friends" he called over his shoulder. Two other boys rounded the corner. T.K. felt himself relax slightly and smiled at the newcomers. The shortest boy, with hair weirder than Tai's T.K. noticed, smiled brightly at them.

"Hi, I'm Yugi!" The third boy with weirdly shaped brown hair gave a little bow in Kari's direction.

"Name's Honda, at your service" The tall blonde whacked his friend on the head.

"Knock it off" The brunette stood up, "Ow, Jou what was that for?"

"Your stupidity", the blonde replied grabbing his friend in a headlock. "Name's Jounouchi or Jou by the way" Honda managed to free himself from the headlock and went to attack his friend, until Anzu shot a poisonous glare in their direction.

"Knock it off you two!" The two boys froze, glared once at each other and then backed off. Yugi smiled and addressed his new friends.

"So what brings you to Domino?" The blonde and brunette exchanged a quick glance

"Family", T.K. replied shortly. He glanced briefly at the sun's position before offering an explanation, "My parents are divorced" and dead he mentally added. Jou smiled bitterly.

"I know what that's like. Speaking of which I gotta go meet Shizuka…like now!" he waved briefly and took off. Honda smirked and called after him "Make sure you actually make it this time! But if you don't I can always comfort Shizuka!"

"STAY AWAY FROM MY SISTER HONDA!" Anzu rolled her eyes and turned to Yugi.

"It's getting late, I better get home" Yugi nodded

"Grandpa will start to worry about me pretty soon. It was nice to meet you T.K. and Kari." The five exchanged goodbyes and soon only T.K. and Kari were left on the corner bathed in the light of the setting sun. Reaching into his pocket, T.K. pulled out two crosses and handed one to Kari.

"Come on, it's not safe after dark." Kari smiled lightly before taking his hand, "T.K. relax, he's not here. We would have heard about it, you know how Daisuke and Ken like to…show off their um prey." T.K. nodded but didn't slow down his pace.

"I know Kari, it's just ever since that day…we were lucky to get out alive." He stopped at a building, pulling out a set of keys and opened the door. Flicking on the light switch, a dim, sparse room became visible. Flopping onto a futon T.K. suddenly sat up in horror.

"We told them our names!" he punched the futon in frustration. Kari peered out at him from the tiny kitchen, "What?"

"We told them our names. I didn't even think about it, they seemed nice so…damnit!" another fist hit the futon, "I just killed us." Kari wrapped her arms gently around T.K. "Relax" she soothed "they're not going to tell anyone and we aren't registered as 'T.K. and Kari' anyway. We'll be fine." T.K. smiled slightly, Kari smacked him lightly in the head.

"Take a nap, you need it. It's my turn to cook tonight anyway, how do you feel about cereal?" T.K. took a swipe at her and missed, she playfully kicked him "Go to sleep!" T.K. chuckled and rolled onto his side. As he drifted off to sleep something his brother promised him after the divorce drifted through his mind, 'No matter what T.K., I'll always find you, that's a promise.' When they were spoken they had filled his younger self with warmth and happiness, but now they caused a shiver to run through his body and an overwhelming feeling of dread to grip his soul.

No matter what…I'll always find you

"He's coming…"
