CHAPTER 1: Memory

A jet-black Gustav hurried on through the desert. It was rather heavily modified, equipped with Attack Boosters, and a Command Wolf's dual-barreled cannon. Inside the cockpit, Bit Cloud was thinking. It had been over 6 years, and still, he remembered it like it was yesterday. Their shocked reaction. His Team. They'd been doing great without him, but he missed them. And above all, he missed Leena.

"God damn it!" He shook his head, and thought about his situation. With his Sinker in need of repair, and his Liger Zero slightly damaged as well, he needed to find a town with a hangar. And very little Backdraft control. He sighed wearily. The modifications to his Gustav were difficult. Finding the parts had actually been the easy part: He'd salvaged them from his battles. He remembered when, and where. The Blade Liger, he'd beaten with Jager. Piece of cake. He'd salvaged the blades and boosters without any trouble. The Command Wolf had been more difficult. He'd had to use a Buster Slash on him, and that had left it beyond retrieval. Then, he'd helped himself to the cannon, and a couple of power components. Then, he modified his Gustav. That had been difficult, and he was glad it was over.

But he'd had to buy components for internal repairs, and that had put a major hole in his savings. He had to win the next battle, and in Mode 0992. He couldn't afford another 3-on-1. Then, he hit the brakes.

HE saw, on the road, a little girl no more than 6 or 7. She was running from a Helcat formation, belonging to Backdraft.

"Time to test out those weapons!" He flipped the Attack boosters to cannon mode, and activated the cannon at the top. The 'Cats opened fire on the girl. He retaliated. They attacked him.

"Thank God for that armor!" He attacked. They all went down.

"Hey, kid! Hop in!" she complied gratefully.

"What were you running from'em for?

They attacked our house, and killed my Mom and Dad." She said angrily. Funny, the more Bit looked at her, the more she seemed familiar. She had long, blond hair, and sparkling black eyes.

"Sorry. It's just that…well, I know how you feel. They killed a friend of mine. Well, more like a brother of sorts. He-

-You're Bit Cloud!" she suddenly called.

"Guilty as charged." He laughed. "And you are…?

Fiona. I live in the Wind Colony, and…

And someday, you'll become a great Zoid Warrior, and make the Backdraft pay. Welcome to the Blitz Team! Hey, you got a Zoid?

Huh, yeah, my Mom gave me a Redler. And my Daddy had a Helcat and a Gustav. They're at home, at the Wind Colony.

Wind Colony? Jesus…" his voice trailed off, as a long-forgotten memory forced its way into his mind…

"Come on, Daddy, Bit's on the Blade Liger already!" an attractive blonde girl, 10 or 11 years old, sat on a stone base, at the foot of a monument. It was a Zoid, atop which stood a boy 6 or 7. Their father got the camera ready, and she walked forward. She sat on a bench. He snapped a shot, changed the focus, and took another. "Thanks Dad!" they both said as the boy jumped off, and looked back at the Blue Zoid…

It was nighttime already. The girl was sleeping. They were still a good 3 hours from her village.

"God, she must've been running and hiding for days." He prepared some food, and a cup of coffee for himself. "Jesus, I'm starting to turn into Brad! Drinking coffee all the time." He looked forward to the next day, to being back…

"YOU'LL ALL GO TO HELL! YOU HEAR ME, MURDERER? YOU'LL GO TO HELL!!" a young voice cried angrily from the charred ruins. The boy had never moved. The wound on the right side of his face had long since healed. Now, he'd painted a peculiar, curved tattoo over the scar. He'd cut his hair, and now looked like his father. "You'll all die! I will destroy all of you!! He said, whispering. Suddenly, his deep, hateful eyes settled on a part of the house that had not collapsed. It looked almost like a bunker, hidden in the foundations.

The lights came on.

"a hangar." And Aslan Obscura spied a massive, blood-red Liger, next to an even more huge, silver tyrannosaur type. Both hummed into life, their cockpits opening. And as the boy began plotting his revenge, he saw something incredibly huge in the back of the hangar, hidden in shadows. Meanwhile, at the other end, a pair of ice-blue eyes flared into awakening…
