CHAPTER 7: The Guardian Team
"The Winner is…the Guardian Team!" 2 dark red Saber Tigers stood on the deserted battlefield, amid a literal Graveyard: the remainders of a Command Wolf, a Storm Sworder, and 2 Red Horns. The two Zoids let out a fierce roar, and turned tail. One of the pilots radioed the enemy Command Wolf:
"We'll expect that money wired to our account some time this week. Good luck in your next battle!" she laughed, her last sentence positively dripping with sarcasm.
"Do you have to be so cruel about it, Reese?" asked the second pilot. The girl Reese briefly glanced at her teammate, on the comm. screen. A black helmet (AN: Like the one worn by Sideways, the first time he appeared, in Transformers Armada) obscured his face, but she recognized by his tone that he did not genuinely care.
He continued "I mean, all 4 Zoids are total write-offs.
Hum, let me see…YES!
Ok. That was a great battle. Let's call back our "teammates". SHADOW!
SPECULAR! Let's go!" as they called out, two identical streaks of light flared forward, from a nearby cliff, and landed next to the two Zoids, quickly taking the shape of small, reptilian Zoids, one black, the other blue. The two Organoids then began running after their partners, somehow knowing who was in which Zoid.
"Sarah!" called Altiel. "Where is that blasted old whore when you need her? SARAH!" General Altiel was fuming. He had received reports of a two-pronged attack on Backdraft Commission installations, both strikes involving a Zaber Fang, and another Zoid, with a Charged particle gun. A blue-haired woman entered the room.
"What is it, General?
Another attack. This time at Red River.
You're kidding! FUCK! I told Isaac to watch that base closely. Incompetent fool!
That's not the point! If these attacks continue, whoever thiis is will eventually come across our Installations in the Elemia Desert.
And that would be the ruin of our plans: the Units would be destroyed before completion, and the pilots killed. Not to mention a top-class facility would be annihilated, and the Commission would be overthrown!
All right then, you know what to do: send your two clowns in the Ultimate X Zoids to assist Lieutenant Colonel Marcus. And ask the Empire if we can borrow Schubaltz!"
Speaking of which, Colonel Karl Alexander Lichen Schubaltz III was currently headed towards a mysterious Fortress in the Elemia Desert. As he arrived, he saw how dreary the mysterious Shadow Fortress looked. He'd heard tales about the place being haunted, by restless spirits, but did not believe them. Then, His Iron Kong stumbled across the remains of two PK models. He shivered, and was starled by a deep, resonating voice:
"Who are you, and why are you here?
I am Lieutenant Colonel Karl Alexander Lichen Schubaltz the third, of the Guylos Military Forces, 14th Tank Division.
Welcome, Colonel Schubaltz. Please, Come right on in…" that second voice was definitely female. He walked cautiously through the opening that opened before him, and entered.
"Good evening, Colonel. My name is Kirkland. Please be so kind as to exit your Zoid's cockpit, we will ensure his safety.
All right." And he complied. Suddenly, a warrior in a dark jacket stepped out of the shadows, and beckoned him into a dimly lit room. He instantly recognized the warrior as an ex-Tiger Team pilot. He seemed grimmer, though, his face set in an emotionless mask.
He closed the door behind them, and sat in a dark corner.
"Good Evening Colonel. Now, I know you're wondering what brings you here. If you'll please be so kind as to place on the table your sidearm, as well as the knife currently tucked into your left boot." Karl complied, astonished. He recognized her voice, and looked at the speaker. Apparently in her early- to mid-forties, she had brown hair in the process of turning gray. And she had a commanding look in her eyes. Her posture, her tone,
everything about her told you this woman was used to giving orders, not taking them. And so she was, for unbeknownst to him, Karl was in the presence of the Leader of the Fuma Team.
"Our Leader has an interesting proposition for you and Colonel Krueger." She said as the Republican Colonel walked in. "Good, Colonel. You came unarmed, and alone, although your men await your signal. A wise precaution.
What proposition?" asked the suspicious old Republican.
"Yes, please. What do you want from us?
You personally? Nothing. Only that you convey our message to your respective rulers. Our proposition: Simple. The reinstatement of the Guardian Force, and overthrow of the current Battle Commission. Instead, the old Commission shall be restored, under command by, well, the two of you.
Ridiculous!
Actually," Karl said "I think that, given time, it would be possible.
We have 6 months. After that, the Backdraft Organization will be all but invincible.
Just a question. Who is your Leader? Are you it, and trying to throw us off? Because you look like the type to issue orders, not follow them.
A very wise observation, Colonel Schubaltz." Said a voice, as three warriors stepped out of the shadows. The voice belonged to one creepy bastard of a blue-haired dude.
"However, it is incorrect." Said the second one, a guy with a mullet. Black hair.
"We are but Emissaries of the Leader." Said a third voice. Also black hair.
Where do we find him?" asked Krueger "Where is he?
In the land of Shadows. He is the Raven, harbinger of Death." Said the woman. That comment, said in a frighteningly casual tone, sent a shiver down both officers' spines.
"But hey, Relax!" added Kirkland. "You don't need to worry about finding Him. When the time comes, he'll find you. Now, be on your way, both of you, and deliver our message to your respective rulers."
Then, the woman added "Tell them the Fuma Team sends them this message!
