Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh or any of the characters therein
(Again, I will say that this story is based on the book Mara, Daughter of the Nile, my favorite book. I've made quite a bit of differences, some that you might like and some that you might not. Overall though, I hope you will all like it)

~Two days later when the ship landed in Alexandria~
Lani was excited to finally be arriving in Alexandria. She had never been outside of Menfe before. She wondered if she would get lost trying to find someplace to get clothes.
For Yami, it was a different story. He knew that he would be back to serious work these next few days. It had been quite relaxing for him to just lounge on the Silver Beetle's deck and talk to Lani.
Lani watched as the land grew closer. It was right around sundown. I'll miss the sun going down every evening, Lani thought. She gazed up at the sky and a figure came up behind her. She knew it was Yami. He had watched the sun set with her quite a few days.
"It's even more beautiful today than it was yesterday," Yami commented.
"Yes, it is," Lani agreed. "It'll probably be the last sunset I see for a while."
"Yeah, for me too. Once I get in the palace, it's work, work, work."
"But I thought you were a lord," Lani said. "Don't you have servants to do work for you?"
"Well, I have my own kind of work," Yami answered. "All dealing with rebel business and trying to keep the queen satisfied with me."
"Oh, I see." There was a long, awkward silence then. It was finally broken by Yami saying, "Ah, we've landed now. I must get my stuff and go off to the palace."
"And I suppose I must go to the market," Lani said, hesitantly. She was a little disappointed that their conversation had been so short. Since Lani had nothing on the ship besides herself and her money was in her sash, she walked off the ship.
"Good-bye Lani!" Yugi called as she made her way down.
"Bye Yugi!" Lani called back and she headed for the market place. She was jostled about many times and got lost in the winding streets of Alexandria but she finally found a shop where she could buy decent Egyptian clothes.
"May I help you?" a man said in a gruff voice.
"Oh yes, please," Lani said. "I need something that would be decent for an Egyptian servant."
"Follow me." The man motioned for Lani to follow and she did. They went to the back of the shop where he pointed to a whole row of clothes. Lani picked out a simple blue servants dress and went in the back room to try it on. She looked at the mirror in the room and thought to herself, Wow, Lani, you look awesome in blue. It really goes with your eyes. The dress really was exactly the same color as her eyes and when she came out of the room, the man almost didn't recognize who she was. He just stared.
"How much?" Lani asked.
"I doubt you have the money for it, girl," the man replied, gruffly. Lani figured that that was his normal voice.
"I have money," Lani said, defiantly. "How much is it?"
"It's eight gold coins," the man answered, "Which I don't think you have," he then added.
Lani counted the gold coins in her sash. There were nine left so she would still have one left. "Here," she said, triumphantly giving the man eight golden coins.
"Where'd you get money like that?" the man asked surprised. "Did you steal it?"
Lani smiled sweetly and said very innocently, "Now, do you really think I would steal. It's not like me to do such a thing." She left the shop then and headed toward the princess' carriage that was just arriving at the palace.
