Chapter 5

A few days passed lazily by and the four friends became very close to each other. They were almost like a family by the end of the week. But, alas, Jensea and Raven had to return to their own homes for a while. Their parting wasn't a sad one but it did kind of bring the four down. Malik remained at the Kaiba mansion because he was practically homeless at the moment, despite the riches Mariku had aquired while in control of his body. Seto didn't really mind and Malik ended up being a rather good companion for Mokuba, Kaiba's younger brother.
Raven yawned as she lazily sprawled in the driver's seat of her red Ford 4X4 F150 Sportage truck on the way home. The speakers blared with the electric notes of Syliva as the CD played. Jensea nodded her head to the music and tapped her fingers along the arm rest at her side in the passenger seat. The girls happily remained silent as the music continued, looking forward, NOT, to going home and start the cleaning and cooking.
They'd gotten used to being waited on hand and foot while at the Kaiba mansion and weren't exactly all too happy to be going back to doing it themselves. But there were bills to paid and things to be completed. And Raven had only just recently completed the drawing of the Dark Magician on her wall. She had made a mural out of it and had finished putting up the picture itself with the black paint. And she was eager to get to the coloring part of it. As a matter of fact, Jensea had liked it so much that she'd requested something to that effect on her own wall. They both had agreed that the entire house, considering all the walls were panted a flat and smooth white in color, could be decorated in Raven's drawings.
Raven lowered the stereo's volume as they entered the neighborhood and then pulled into the drive. She yawned as she shut off the car and hopped out. She threw the keys to Jensea who unlocked the tail gate of the truck and lifted the back covering then grabbed their belongings, slinging them over her shoulder.
"Need help?" Raven called from the doorway.
"Na, I got it." Jensea smiled. They headed up to their rooms once they had gotten inside and had separated their stuff from one another. Raven set her stuff onto her bed and shuffled around to put clothes back into place, unaware of the small envelope and card the slipped from the silk pillows to the hard wood floor of her room. She closed her closet and removed her sandals, sitting them beneath her large bay window. She turned on the studio light she had rented for her mural of the Dark Magician and pulled the gallon jugs of paint from the various corners and shelves of her room. She, still not noticing the envelope and the card, went on the other side of her bed and pulled it back a little bit and then gathered the carious sized paint brushes. She had different shades of purple and one light pink for the robes and plate armor of the Dark Magician and had to study the picture she had printed from her computer of his full profile to get the variation from dark to light. The original copy of her drawing lay on her bed, only inked with dark black ink. The over head transparency she had made of the drawing to project on her wall lay on the projecter against the far wall of her room.
She set the brushes down and opened her window a bit so that the paint fumes would go out and not lilnger too much in the house. She pulled over one of the stools, replaced her good shirt with an old one and began to dip the brush into the paint. Her bare foot slid along the floor a little bit as she stretched forward and began the first coat of dark purple on the hat of the Dark Magician. Her toes brushed against the paper and she pulled back from the wall and her painting to investigate. She set the paint down, the brush lying across its rim, and picked up the envelope, followed by the card. She turned the card over and examined the figure of a dark Gargoyle on the front. He was an old Gargoyle but held a very sharp looking dagger. "Hudson?" She read the name of the card and read the description. She blinked. "Ooookay then." She opened the envelope. It read simply:
You are invited to participate in my new Tournament of Duel Monsters. I have included for you a very rare Card. It is Hudson, a Gargoyle. I think you will find it a very good addition to your deck.
Sincerelly,
Maxamillion Pegasus
Raven blinked and chuckled a bit. She knew that guy. She remembered about the Duelist Kingdom tournament he had staged about a year back. She looked at the card again just as Jensea came in.
"Hey, did you...Apparently so." She sat down on the bed. "Hudson? Mine's Lexington."
"Strange." Raven shrugged and opened her nightstand drawer, sliding the card into her deck and then shuffled it. "Well, are we going to join?"
"Why not? It should be fun."
Raven smiled. "It's settled then."

"Hey Raven!" Jensea shouted up the stairs. "Pegasus is making an announcement!"
Raven slid down the railing of the stairs and stood with Jensea in front of the TV, her faded blue overalls stained with fresh purple paint.
"I, Maxamillion Pegasus, am announcing the start of yet another Duel Monster Tournament. I hope to see the faces of those who participated in last years tournament as well as new comers. I personnaly, however, would like to invite the following four duelists to come. Ravanna Mazalina, or Raven Maza as she is most known as. Jensea Hynizo, Seto Kaiba and Ishtar Malik. Know this, however, that the four of you will be participating in a small contest before hand, here on my island, to determine and eliminate the weaker duelist of you all. The tournament begins this weekend and for those four, the contest is Friday night on my island. I will have a chopper sent to pick up all four of you. Hope to see you there."
When Pegasus' picture disappeared from the screen, Jensea raised a brow at Raven. "What do you think?"
Raven shrugged. "Doesn't sound like anything big." She smiled. "But it would give us a chance to test out our new cards."
"True."
"Let's get packed then, ok?" Raven smiled and turned back up the stairs.

Seto and Malik met them at their meeting point out at the beach and had each pondered over this little "contest" they were to partake in.
Raven shrugged. "I'm sure it's nothing. I wouldn't worry too much about it."
"You can't be sure with Pegasus." Kaiba said. "He's done too much evil to go unnoticed." Mokuba slid closer to his older brother when Kaiba said that.
"Oh, sorry Mokuba." Raven whispered. The chopper arrived mere moments later and they each borded, starting on the long trip to Pegasus' island. Once there, they were escorted into the "castle" and led to the duelist rings where Pegasus waited for them.
He smiled wickedly as they entered the room. "Thank you all for coming." He motioned to the ring. "The first duel will be between Miss Raven and Miss Jensea." He smiled at them. "If you will please take your places."
Raven smiled and Jensea. "Let the best woman win." Jensea giggled and they shook on it. Raven's millennium bracelet glistened in the light as she passed Pegasus and Jensea's millennium necklace caught his attention as well. They set up.
"Ready?" Pegasus asked with the usual 'skippy' voice and started up the ring. "Begin!"
Raven drew her first card and raised a brow in amusement. "Lucky my. I place my Dark Magician on the field, in Attack mode." She looked at the other cards in her hand. "And my Gargoyle Hudson in attack mode. That ends my turn."
Jensea drew her first card and stared at it. "I place my Gargoyle Lexington in Attack mode and place one card face down. That ends my turn as well."
Raven nodded. "All right then. Hudson! Attack!"
"Lexington! Counter attack!"
Seto and Malik shielded their eyes as a moment later, the room lit up in a bright flash of light and when it died down, the girls were gone.
"RAVEN!"
"JENSEA!"

"What the?" Raven looked around and suddenlt felt...nothing...below her feet. She screamed as she fell, groping for anything that she hold on to. "HELP!!"
"Hold on!" The voice was deep and it was coming from below her. She felt herself fall into strong arms a moment later and stared at the figure holding her. "Who...who are you?"
"I have no name. But you humans call me Goliath."
"Oh shit." She whispered as they landed on the roof of the clock tower. "Raven!" Jensea ran to her. "We're in trouble here! Look!" She pointed into the distance. Raven gasped. "Oh my god," She whispered as she walked to the railing. "World Trade Center...We're in Mahattan...before 9/11..."
Jensea nodded. "But I think it's a different dimension.
"Once again, shit."
