Chapter 1 ~ Prologue

Yanna wasn’t you average sixteen-year old girl. She was special in her own way. She was an inu-hanyou. You see, Yanna is part dog demon and part human. She has long brown hair that reaches to the middle of her back. She also has brown dog ears with sliver tips on the top of her head. She also has amber-gold eyes with flecks of brown in them. Yanna also has two purple stripes on either side of her face and a purple crescent moon in the middle of her forehead. From a distance, she could be mistaken for a full demon if it wasn’t for her ears.

Yanna also has two older brothers who live with their dad. The oldest brother, Sesshoumaru, looks more like their father. He has long silver hair that goes past the middle of his back. His eyes are also amber-gold just like Yanna’s. He too has two purple stripes on either side of his face. Sesshoumaru has a blue crescent moon in the middle of his forehead. He is a full-blooded dog demon because his ears are pointed. Sesshoumaru is a few years older than Yanna.

Yanna’s other brother, InuYasha, is a seventeen-year-old inu-hanyou. He also lives with their dad. He has long silver hair that is a couple of inches longer than Yanna’s. Just like Yanna, he has dog ears on the top of his head but his are all silver. He also has amber-gold eyes.

Yanna lives with her mother, Izayoi, in Tokyo. She has lived with her mother since she was four years old. Her parents had gotten a divorce when she was younger, so Yanna went with her mother while her brothers stayed with their dad.

Yanna was out having fun with her friends when she realized how late it was getting. So, she gathered up her stuff as she got up to leave.

“I will see you guys tomorrow at school,” Yanna said to her friends.

“Okay, Yanna,” Kagome said to her friend.

Kagome was a fifteen-year-old girl who has been friends with Yanna since kindergarten. Kagome has long black hair and brown eyes. She lives with her mother, brother, and grandfather at their family shrine.

“Bye, Yanna,” Sango said.

Sango was a seventeen-year-old girl that Yanna and Kagome had met in junior high school. She has brown hair and brown eyes. Sango lives with her brother, Kohaku. Her parents were killed a couple of years prior by a drunk driver.

“See ya, Yanna,” Miroku said as he reached for Yanna’s rear.

“Don’t even think about putting your hand on my ass, lecher,” Yanna growled at Miroku.

Miroku was an eighteen-year-old boy who also has been friends with Yanna since kindergarten. He has short black hair and beautiful lavender eyes. He is also known around the school as a lecher.

Kagome and Miroku had been there for Yanna right after her and her mother moved to Tokyo after her parents divorced. Yanna was very distraught over the divorce considering she thought that it was her fault that her parents split up to begin with. Yanna was always having problems dealing with her parents divorce and Kagome and Miroku were always there for her. Later on when they met Sango in junior high, she even helped Yanna deal with her feelings and emotions. Yanna’s biggest problem was missing her father even though she felt like she didn’t know him.

You see when Yanna was two years old, she started attacking her older brothers for no reason. For some odd reason her demon powers started showing at a very young age. She attacked Sesshoumaru only once and never attacked him again. When Yanna had attacked Sesshoumaru the one time, he had pinned her against the wall and bared his fangs at her. She learned at that moment not to mess with Sesshoumaru. But she kept attacking InuYasha to the point where her parents had to send her away to a relative that lived in Osaka. She lived with her aunt and uncle for about two years while they tried to figure out what was causing her to attack her brothers. When Yanna was three and half, her relatives sent her back to her parents when they couldn’t figure out what was causing her to act that way.

Once Yanna was back with her parents, she still continued to attack InuYasha. So her parents couldn’t take it anymore and decided that they would be better off if they divorced with InuTaishou taking the boys and Izayoi taking Yanna, hoping the separation would help Yanna. That was when Yanna was given the bracelet by her father. And from that moment on Yanna’s demon side never came back out again.

Once Yanna had said goodbye to her friends, she left and started for home. She really didn’t want to go home because of her mother’s boyfriend. Yanna really didn’t like her mother’s boyfriend. He scared Yanna beyond belief. Yanna has tried over and over again to get her mother to leave him but she won’t.

When Yanna had reached her house, she noticed that her mother’s boyfriend was there. ’I just wish that Naraku would leave us alone,’ Yanna thought to herself as she reached the front door. She noticed that her hand was trembling slightly when she grabbed the doorknob. Just as she started to open the door, the front door was ripped open.

Yanna was stunned when the door was opened. She looked up to see who had opened the door and saw Naraku standing there, glaring at her. Naraku has been dating Izayoi for almost five years now and they have been hell for Yanna. Naraku has long wavy black hair. The one thing that really scared Yanna the most about him was his dark scarlet eyes that seemed to always look right through her. Before Yanna could turn and run, Naraku reached out and grabbed Yanna by her arm and dragged her inside the house.

Once Naraku had gotten Yanna inside the house, Naraku threw her onto the couch. As Yanna landed on the couch, her side hit the arm of the couch and she felt a couple of her ribs crack at the impact. Yanna screamed out in pain. Izayoi came running into the living room when she heard Yanna’s pain-filled scream.

As Izayoi entered the living room, she saw Naraku heading towards the Yanna and the couch. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Izayoi immediately ran to her daughter’s aid. When Izayoi reached Yanna, she noticed that Yanna was holding her side and flinching in pain.

“What is going on here?” Izayoi asked no one in particular.

Yanna didn’t look at either her mother or Naraku. She was in too much pain to answer her mother’s question so Naraku answered for her.

“She came home late. She was out gallivanting around town with her worthless friends,” Naraku sneered at Izayoi.

Yanna didn’t care if Naraku called her worthless but when it came to her friends, it was a different story. Yanna gritted her teeth against the pain that soared through her body as she stood up to face Naraku.

“DON”T YOU EVER CALL MY FRIENDS WORTHLESS!!!” Yanna yelled at the top of her lungs.

“Yanna Anise Taiyoukai,” Izayoi said sternly. “Don’t you talk to Naraku like that.”

Yanna was shocked when her mother called her by her full name. Whenever her mother said her full name, Yanna knew she was in some deep trouble. Yanna didn’t look at her mother because she knew that she was going to get it if she survived the night after fighting with Naraku.

Naraku started laughing when he saw Yanna stand up to him and then knocked down a notch by her mother. He knew that when he insulted her friends, it always struck a nerve with her.

“Besides, we weren’t gallivanting around town,” Yanna said as she started crying from the pain her side.

Naraku continued to stare at Yanna as she cried from the pain she was in. He stopped laughing when he heard a knock on the door. Naraku turned from Yanna and Izayoi and walked over to the door. When he opened the door, Naraku saw one of Yanna’s friends standing there.

“May I help you, Kagome?” Naraku asked politely.

“Uhhh… Yanna forgot this book about ancient Egypt at the library,” Kagome said, handing the book to Naraku.

“Thank you, Kagome. I will make sure that she gets it,” Naraku said with a smile.

Once Kagome handed the book to Naraku, he closed the door and turned back around and faced Yanna and her mother. He slowly walked back over to the couch.

“Izayoi, leave the room,” Naraku said as he kept his eyes on Yanna.

Izayoi didn’t question Naraku about what he was going to do, so she left. Izayoi walked back into the kitchen and continued fixing dinner. She did everything in her power to block out Yanna’s screams.

Once Izayoi had left the living room, Naraku walked over to Yanna, who was now sitting on the couch again. He could see the fear in her eyes as she looked up at him.

“So, if you weren’t gallivanting around town, then what were you doing?” Naraku asked while glaring at Yanna.

“I… I… I… was working on a report for school at the library with my friends,” Yanna said as she stumbled over her words.

Naraku continued to glare at Yanna. He then turned his attention to the book in his hand. He started thumbing through it. He was surprised that she was researching ancient Egypt.

“So, you are learning about ancient Egypt,’ Naraku said, still looking through the book.

~*Yes, I am.*~ Yanna said in ancient Egyptian.

Naraku was surprised that Yanna had spoken in ancient Egyptian. So, he decided to see how much she knew about the language considering it was a lost language.

~*Why do you want to know so much about ancient Egypt?*~ Naraku asked Yanna.

Yanna was surprised that Naraku could speak the language. She couldn’t tell him the true reason why she was learning about ancient Egypt so she decided to tell him something else.

~*I just wanted to learn more about it and decided to do it for my history class.*~ Yanna said angrily back at Naraku.

Naraku knew that Yanna was hiding something from him. Just then, he caught sight of the bracelet on Yanna’s left wrist.

“Where did you get that bracelet?” Naraku asked a very upset Yanna.

Yanna looked down at the bracelet on her left wrist. She had totally forgotten that she was wearing it. It is as if there is something preventing it from being removed from her wrist.

“My father gave it to me before my mother and I left him, “ Yanna answered Naraku.

“Take it off,” Naraku yelled.

Yanna slowly got off the couch as she tried to make her way towards the front door. She knew what was coming next because the same thing happens to her every night. She could never figure out how her friends never figured anything out. Yanna wasn’t quick enough because of her broken ribs. Naraku grabbed Yanna just as she got past him.

Naraku picked Yanna up and punched her in the stomach, causing Yanna to gasp for air. After Naraku punched Yanna, he threw her to the floor and started kicking her in the ribs that had been broken earlier. Yanna screamed out in pain once again.

“I will not take the bracelet off. Besides I can’t take it off, I’ve tried many times already,” Yanna said in between screams.

That wasn’t what Naraku wanted to hear. He was going to get that bracelet one way or another, even if it meant killing Yanna in the process.

Yanna continued to scream as Naraku beat her within an inch of her life. She was on the verge of losing consciousness when she saw her mother come running out of the kitchen.

Izayoi couldn’t take hearing Yanna scream any longer since she has to hear it every night when Naraku beats Yanna for no reason. So she stopped fixing dinner and ran into the living room only to find Yanna on the floor with Naraku standing over her while he was kicking Yanna.

Naraku never saw Izayoi enter the living room. He continued kicking Yanna until she started coughing up blood. Naraku smiled sadistically at Yanna. Just as Naraku delivered the final blow, Izayoi screamed.

Izayoi ran to Yanna’s side after Naraku delivered his last blow to Yanna’s head. She saw Yanna smile up at her as Yanna slipped into darkness. Once Yanna lost consciousness, Naraku pulled Izayoi from Yanna.

“Come on, Izayoi. We have to get out of here before the cops show up,” Naraku said pulling Izayoi out the front door.

Izayoi didn’t put up much of a fight when Naraku pulled her out the door. They got into the car and left. ‘InuTaishou is going to kill me when he finds out what has happened to Yanna,’ Izayoi thought to herself.

Yanna slowly slipped from consciousness. The last sight she had seen was the tears sliding down her mother’s face. Yanna slipped farther into oblivion with that fueling her mind.

~~Begin Yanna’s Dream~~

Anise ran from the lord of the dead, Anubis. There was no way that she was going to be a slave to anyone. Anise quickly made her way to the pharaoh’s palace since she knew that she would be safe there. She looked up and could see the palace gates. She was almost there.

When Anise had reached the palace gates, she reached out to bang on them but she was grabbed from behind. She felt one of her captor’s hands cover her mouth to prevent her from screaming out while the other hand wrapped around her waist. She was then pulled into an alleyway next to the palace gates. Just then, Anise was spun around to face her captor.

Once Anise saw her captor’s face, she screamed into the hand covering her mouth.

“You won’t scream if I remove my hand, right?” her captor asked.

Anise nodded her head as she gave into him. Just then, Anise found her voice as her captor removed his hand from her mouth.

“What do you want, Haru? I don’t belong to Naraku anymore,” Anise yelled at her captor.

Haru grabbed Anise by her arms and slammed her up against the wall, knocking the breath out of her. He let go of Anise’s arms and she fell to the ground with a thud. Once Anise was on the ground, Haru then proceeded to kick Anise until he heard her ribs crack under the pressure. That was when Anise screamed out in pain.

When Haru was done kicking Anise, he bent down so that he could see if Anise was still alive. When he was satisfied that she was still alive, Haru leaned in closer to Anise’s ear.

“My father wants you back so he can sell you again,” Haru whispered into Anise’s ear.

Anise gathered what strength she had left and looked up at Haru.

“You can tell Naraku to go to hell,” Anise whispered back at Haru.

Haru didn’t like her comment about his father. So, he stood back up as he scowled down at Anise.

“You are going to regret ever saying that, Anise,” Haru yelled as he reared back and kicked Anise one final time in the head, hopefully putting an end to her life.

Little did Anise and Haru know but someone was watching them in the shadows of the alleyway. When Haru left Anise, the figure, that was watching them, came out of the shadows and approached Anise. The only thing that Anise could see was the figure’s eyes before she passed out.
