Across The Stars
Chapter 14: That bloody time skip! A storyteller, a fear filled night staying up late at the keyboard...
which one am I? Am I even real?

~Max's P.o.V.~
"Wait...Kim, slow down!" I heard a voice yell. My head was pounding and I felt ice cold. I shivered and curled up tighter, opening my eyes a bit. And I let out a scream. A loud, shrill scream of surprise and fear.
There, sitting on the chair across from the couch I'd fallen asleep on, was the dog-eared, amber-opticked, silver-haired...InuYasha.
"Hold on Kim..." Jake's voice said from the other room,"Maxine, what's wrong?" he said, rushing into the room.
"That's...Inu...Inu..." I stuttered. "InuYasha?" InuYasha suggested. I felt really light-headed,"What's going on?" I asked, looking back and forth between the two. "Long version...or short version?" Jake asked. "Short..." I muttered. Jake nodded to InuYasha and InuYasha set off into a short explanation.
"The time skip, didn't skip back into time. It skipped off track. You...just disappeared in the other realm. So did Kim, Meg and Sarah. Currently...well Seto found Kim, who's your Kim. Meg and Sarah are no where to be found and Jack's ship got swallowed up into the time skip so he...doesn't exist. Look," he said, holding out the Pirates of the Carribean DVD. I looked at the cover. "Jack Sparrow isn't there..." I whispered. "And neither is the Black Pearl," InuYasha pointed out, continuing,"So you see, I thought you were my Maxine, but really you aren't." Jake nodded,"You're my Maxine...as in this realms Maxine," he said. "No," InuYasha said,"Actually...this Maxine...shouldn't exist." I blinked.
"What?" I asked.
"This wasn't your fate! Can't you remember what happened when you were 15 years old, Maxine?" InuYasha said.
Me and Jake exchanged glances,"We don't...really recall all of that," Jake said softly.
"In short...Maxine runs away when she's 15 years old. You two get broken apart and she doesn't talk to Kim or Meg or Sarah...until I don't know when, I don't know how long it lasts because this isn't your fate," InuYasha said,"Your fate wasn't written yet!"
"Oh," I said stupidly,"I need to lie down..."
Kim burst in the door, closely followed by...
Seto Kaiba and Will Turner, Mayank, Jack and Jon.
"Oh, goodness," I said quietly,"I really need to lie down."
"You are lying down," InuYasha said.
"How dare you hang up on me, Jake!" Kim screamed. "Sorry," he said quietly.
She looked at me, looked at InuYasha and then at the POTC DVD in my hand. "Oh...gods, it's true then?!" she shouted, snatching it from me,"How can Jack Sparrow just not be there?!"
"The time skip didn't skip! It had skipped too much! It's trying to set things right and it can't without someone's help!" InuYasha screamed.
Everyone stayed silent.
Then Jack broke the silence,"That bloody time skip! ...and how can there be a plot to the movie with no Captain Jack Sparrow?!"
His comment sort of lightened our spirits and got us to work.
To set it right...I needed to type a story. That's what was decided. So I sat at my computer...and stared at the blank word document.
The sun started setting. I'm pretty sure Jake had fallen asleep in the bed and Jack, Jon and Mayank were quietly talking in the kitchen. Kim was asleep on a couch and InuYasha was perching on the edge of the window, gazing outside thoughtfully.
And I started typing...
Then it hit me.
"InuYasha?" I whispered timidly, turning in my chair to look at him. He turned his head slightly, not moving from the window.
"Who am I really? Which...Maxine, I mean. Which one am I?" I asked in a small voice.
He smiled slightly and hopped down, walking towards me. He knelt in front of me, taking my face gently in his hands,"You...are Maxine. You are not one or the other. You aren't supposed to be with me or Jake right now...You are supposed to be 15 years old and alone right now," he whispered, kissing my forehead. Tears drifted down my cheeks,"I don't want to let go of this though," I whispered back. He sighed, removing his hands,"Then none of us have any hope, Maxine...you are the storyteller. You have to end the story. You have to let go. And you need the right ending..." he said.
And I knew...just the right ending...
