Kyami ran over to the well as the boys emerged and gasped, her eyes welling with tears, "oh, oh Jounouchi, why?" InuYasha was hunched over,

"we need to get him bathed, if he wakes up smelling human blood on him he'll go comatose again." Kyami nodded,

"yeah, come on, Yugi, you and the others, come this way, we'll get you some fresh clothes and there's a stream this way, Kikila!" The orange haired girl ran over, bowed and faced the others,

"clean clothes and their weapons?" Kyami nodded and Yugi faced her, she smiled,

"I'll explain in a few minutes, Sesshoumaru, this way please follow me." She began walking and InuYasha helped Miroku walk, the boy leaning heavily on the half-demon, they trailed silently, following the Seer to a lake small enough to be called a stream and Sesshoumaru gently placed the still unconscience Jou down on the grass and then took fresh clothes from Kikila and then walked into the cover of a brush, then entered the water after stripping, Kyami took off her over shirt and tore it into strips, then dipped it into the water and began wiping the blood off of Jou. There was a sigh and a thud, Miroku lay on the ground, and InuYasha had slumped to the ground, both passed out from exaustion and pain, she shook her head and looked into the river, Yugi, Yami, Ryou, Bakura and Seto were bathing with the modern soaps and shampoos she had brought.

After everyone had bathed and they had made their way to an inn and everyone was resting they set to work wrapping bandages. Yugi turned his eyes from the still unconscience blonde to the red headed woman, "so, what is his place?" She gave a small smile and picked up some gauze,

"this is Feudal Japan, the well is a sort of portal to each era, most of the children you see all belong to this time frame, but, by unique reasons all ended up in our time, I started the shrine as a comfort for a few children, most of which you would not even guess were from the past, only about a half of a third of the children are from modern times, Chelle for example, Jou, Miroku, InuYasha, Sesshoumaru, Kouga, Kikila, they're all from this time. Seto smiled,

"that's why Jou got frustrated with the lockers and the computers." Ryou smiled,

"the calculators and lights." Kyami nodded,

"the orphanage is built like one from this time, there are modern things, such as lights, TVs, stoves and such, but it is simple and I try to make everyone comfortable." InuYasha grunted as she pressed something to clean the wound on his arm, she smiled, "like Inu, his and Miroku's room, though you haven't seen it, is free of modern things. There are candles, lamps, a simple matress and fouton and door guard, InuYasha, hold that there, I need to get some more tape."

Kyami walked over to Miroku, who was resting against a wall and smiled, "hey, how's the arm?" He opened his eyes,

"much better, just when I have been rid of it, it comes back." He stared at his right palm bitterly and she knelt down,

"I know, but, perhaps it is not your time to be rid of it, too bad my charm only works in modern times, it's erased now though, we must defeat Naraku to rid you of it." The boy nodded, then opened his eyes once more and looked at her,

"how's Jou?" She sighed,

"not good, he still hasn't come too yet, I'm worried." Miroku smiled softly,

"as am I Kyami-san, but, he will be fine, I know it, I can feel it, how did the future children take it?" She smiled,

"surprisingly well, but, I suppose nothing can shock them anymore, they've been through enough this past week, I'm checking on Jou, rest Miroku, I'll see you in the morning."

Jou stirred in his sleep, Miroku frowned, he had been watching his past love for nearly two hours, nothing had happened, InuYasha walked over, "Miroku, this isn't wise, come, he'll awake soon, you need a break, please, come with me." Miroku shook his head, unmoving, InuYasha sat beside him, his limbs vanishing into the red fire rat kimono, he sighed, "you still care for him don't you?" Miroku turned his head to the side,

"he's always been there for me, when I first arrived to the modern era I was scared and confused and Jou found me. He had already been there for four years, he supported me, I supported him and we became best of friends, I love him Inuyasha, I always will, but I love you as well, he was my first love, can you accept that?" The Hanyou frowned, but nodded slightly,

"I suppose, the human heart is strange, I know Jou is very dear to you and I know you are concerned, and I know I am much older than either of you two." Miroku smiled,

"I don't count those fifty years you slept InuYasha, to me you are only eighteen, same as me, same as Jou." InuYasha stood, facing Miroku,

"please come with me, just for a few minutes, you need some fresh air." A sigh, but the cursed human stood, then followed the half-demon out of the room, just as Kyami entered the room to take over.

Miroku sat on the precipice and Yugi walked over, dressed in an outfit similar to his own, only a much lighter blue that suited the boy, Miroku glanced up from his cloth covered palm and looked at Yugi who sat down promptly, "why is it covered?" Blue eys fell downwards,

"it's a curse, laid upon the men of my family bloodline, we have a gaping hole in our right palms that can only be controlled with prayer beads, so I must keep it covered." Yugi blinked,

"oh, I'm sorry." Miroku smiled,

"don't be, I have learned to accept it." Kyami's voice cut through the air,

"JOUNOUCHI, COME BACK!" Miroku hopped up, grabbing his staff as he stood, the figure of Jou ran out of the inn, then hopped into a tree and vanished into the thick of the deep forest they were close to. Miroku ran down the hill and InuYasha and Kyami were talking, Miroku sighed,

"we must follow, who knows where he's going, my guess is back to the well." Kikila ran out,

"I can help." She raised her arms, then with an artful wave there was a strong gust of air and InuYasha turned his head, and pointed,

"that way." Kikila pulled out two silk fans from her kimono and flipped them open, she waved them in a circle and then snapped them shut, there was a strong gust of cold wind and clouds billowed, there was a low rumble of thunder and then a vibrant flash of lightning. It struck the ground close to them and a large falcon, big enough to fit six people on appeared, she smiled,

"please be careful, I will keep the wind in your favour." They both nodded and then perched atop the bird, which let out a screech and then took off, she smiled, "aahhh, I love being able to control the weather, hmm, we need some rain soon, Kyami, I'll be inside, inform me when they return."

Miroku scanned the ground, InuYasha smiled, "there!" He pointed and Miroku stroked the falcon's head, admiring the softness of the feathers,

"okay boy, land in that clearing." It screeched and then with a beat of it's brilliant wings they swooped down and landed in the clearing, Miroku slid off, "I'll whistle when we need you, okay?" With a screech the falcon vanished and Miroku approached a tree, "Jou, Jou, please come down." The blonde shook his head, sobbing softly and rubbing his arms viciously, then dropped down and took off towards a nearby stream and then dove in, not bothering to test the water or rid himself of the clothes, he just had a dire need to be clean, he said nothing, merely shivering in the cold of the water and scratched at his skin, as if trying to tear out the evil within, blood welled up from wounds and when seeing this the blonde just stared. Jou stared as the red coursed down his left arm, transfixed by the fluid, then he finally

spoke, "I can still feel it Roku, the want, the need to kill, I can still taste the blood and it makes me sick, I can hear their voices begging in my head and I want them out, I didn't mean to do it, I really didn't, I just got so scared and so angry and so, so powerful. I was fully aware of it, but I couldn't stop myself, and I partially didn't want to, that's the scary part, I can't feel anything Miroku, I can't feel the water, I can't feel the pain in my arms, I can only feel the sickness and the numbness, I want it out Roku, I want it gone." Jou lowered his head, sobbing softly, Miroku moved forward and Jou flinched, "no, go away, leave me be." Miroku frowned, thinking,

"Jou, I'm really sorry about this but, DOWN BOY!" There was a startled yelp, then Miroku dove into the water and dragged Jou out and let out a shrill whistle. There was a loud screech and the falcon appeared, Miroku and InuYasha placed Jou onto the bird and climbed on themselves, InuYasha grabbed some feathers,

"back to the others and make it fast, before Jou falls ill." Miroku faced InuYasha with curiousity, the older Hanyou smiled, "I need to learn to share." With a soft chuckle Miroku pressed a small kiss to his lips as they plunged towards the ground.

Kyami took the sopping Jou and kicked the door to the inn open, running in, the boy had begun to turn a soft shade of blue, in his weakened state and lack of will he had begun to slip into a hypothermic shock. She ran into the main hall, screaming for various children, "Blaze, if you don't get your ass in here now you'd better be dead!" The modern day male appeared and she nodded towards the fireplace, "now." With a nod and snapped fingers a fire crackled to life and he vanished, she rid him of his wet clothes and slid him into a pair of pants, same as InuYasha's only deep blue in shade, Yugi and the other's watched, concerned as Kyami heated towels and placed them on the shivering body, trying to warm him. Suddenly Jou gasped and shot upright, shivering violently, but conscience, Kyami gave a smile and wrapped a large towel about the boy and then set to work about setting a tub of hot water for him to warm his feet in and after a few minutes he was doing so. Jou's trembling hands were wrapped about steaming tea in a small mug, he had fallen silent once more, allowing Kyami to re-dress his wounds and dress his new ones, she frowned disapprovingly at him and chided him, he simply sat there, saying nothing. Kyami sighed, "Jou, say something, please, anything?" She sat down, "you failed no one, Sango had her time and she's now at peace." Jou merely turned his head to the side, Kyami knew she had to try something durastic and painfully dangerous, she tried Sango's nickname for him, she licked her lips, "come on Kat-kun, say something." Jou turned his head to face her, eyes now brimmed with tears, he choked on a sob,

"I'm so sorry."

He lowered his head and sobbed, she placed a hand on his back and he flinched away from it, she sighed, there was a long pause before the panel door slid to the side and a head peeked in, Chelle hopped in, then walked over to Jou, she said nothing, but hopped into his lap and hugged his waist. She looked up at Jou, "Chelle's sorry she didn't help, but Chelle knows what it's like." Kyami smiled softly, Chelle hadn't spoke for eight months when she came to live with them, she hadn't said a word for a year since her family had died, killed in front of her. Jou had finally got her to speak, by asking her name, no one knew it and she couldn't spell, so she spoke and for the longest time referred to herself in the third person, something she did only when worried or scared now, unless in Jou's presence, then she used it as comfort. "Chelle wants to know your name." Kyami beamed at the girl's wit, Jou simply looked at the young Neko and she tilted her head, "well, what's your name?" Jou's lips twitched, Chelle stuck out her hand, "Chelle wants to know, NOW!" Jou smirked,

"I'm Jou." Chelle giggled and hugged him, "silly, Chelle knew that!" She grew quiet and serious, "why is Jou-san so sad, did the mean girls hurt him?" Jou shook his head, Chelle frowned,"Chelle doesn't understand, if they didn't hurt him, then why is Jou sad?" Jou faced the small girl, so innocent, so sweet, he sighed,

"I did something bad Chelle."

"Did you lie?"

"No."

"Did you take something and not ask?"

"No."

"Did you call someone a mean name or swear?"

"No."

"Did you hurt the mean girls?"

"Yes." Chelle nodded,

"Chelle understands, Jou was protecting his friends and Chelle, and Kyami-san, Jou was scared and the mean girls hurt people and tried to hurt Chelle and Jou's friends and Jou, so Jou hurt them to help his friends and stop them from hurting other people, is Chelle right,

Jou-san?"

She was right in exactly the childish air she represented, she had made everything clear by boiling down to such a simple form using easy and child-like words to get such a complex point across, yet she missed something completely. Jou nodded, "you're right Chelle, but something else happened." Chelle looked up at Jou, her innocence slipping away for a moment as she whispered the words he needed to hear to ground him,

"you killed them didn't you?" Jou blinked in surprise, crashing to earth finally, Chelle slid out of his lap, then smiled, "Jou-san, just because you killed some mean girls who killed our friends doesn't make you a mean or bad person, it makes it just, it balances the scale, you were avenging the death of those you loved. You're not a bad person, I can small badness from a person, and you smell like sun and warmth, you're not bad, you simply care, which is a good thing, bye Jou-san." She skipped out of the room and Jou paused, thinking, his ears drooped and he stood, then walked over to the door, he slid the door to the side, Kyami smiled,

"she's right Jou, she may not understand it completely, but, she's right." Jou nodded,

"I know, she is right, s'why I love her so much, I may smell like sun and warmth to Chelle, but to myself I smell of removed innocence and human blood and death. Now, if you'll excuse me, I finally hit earth and I can't stand the way I feel or smell, I'm going to take a bath."
