And Nothing Else Matters
One-shot fic
By: Ceris Malfoy
// so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters //
The Pharaoh was, for lack of a better term, bored.
He sat on his extremely uncomfortable throne (A/N: made in solid gold and available for a limited time at Wal-Mart for $2.00…^-^!!!!) and tiredly waited for the seemingly endless train of tributes to end. Every year on his birthday Yami had to sit through these seemingly exciting displays of tribute. All of which was basically the same thing year after year: gold, slaves, jewels, and land.
// never opened myself this way
life is ours; we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters //
Yami sighed and glanced furtively to his right -towards freedom- and nearly fell out of his throne in shock. There, standing in the shadowed corners of his brilliantly glimmering hall, was what he knew to be, without a single doubt, the most elegantly beautiful woman he had ever seen.
Her hair, a sensuous display of the color of sun-kissed gold, was pulled up into intricately weaved buns -one on either side of her head- with streamers that fell in tantalizing waves to her ankles. Her skin was, in itself, an oddity; for unlike every other being to either have lived in or visited the great golden desert, her skin was as pale as the moon. Her eyes were a bright crystalline-blue that glowed with an inner fire unlike anything he had ever seen before.
The woman glanced at him briefly, then disappeared. Yami blinked and shook his head.
'I must be going nuts.'
// trust I seek and I find in you
everyday for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters //
Yami's attention was caught the second the two shadow creatures entered the overly decorated hall. As King-Of-Games, Yami had learned that the Shadow Realm actually thought of him as an accomplice of sorts, and occasionally deigned to give him a gift every now and then; a favor that Yami returned.
The two shadow creatures; The Dark Magician (who was Yami's favorite of all the creatures) and the Mystical Elf; walked steadily side-by-side. In between them they carried a large silver box, delicately carved and intricately designed.
// never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know //
The two shadow creatures gracefully placed the box on the marble dais before his throne and knelt -all in one fluid movement. Yami got off his throne and approached the box; unable to keep the eagerness off his face.
The box was made of solid silver; something that, while occasionally seen, was extremely rare in the Egyptian Empire. Carved in a spidery script that decorated the box was a language that he -as highly educated as he was- could not read or recognize. It was held closed by a tiny latch -a crescent moon pierced by a scimitar. Carefully he started to open it, but the Dark Magician interrupted him.
"Wait until the moon is full, my pharaoh. The Moon-Elves have gathered this gift especially for you."
Yami's hands trembled and his heart seemed to beat a mile a minute. "Please extend my gratitude to the Moon-Elves." He paused and stared at the aura that the box gave. 'Whatever is in this box is powerful.' Then he raised his head and stared directly at the Dark Magician. "And tell them I appreciate their sacrifice." The Dark Magician nodded silently to himself, and left.
The Mystical Elf stared at Yami for a moment and smiled benignly. "Before you open the box, be sure to make a wish." She leaned in close and whispered gently, "By the way, you're not going crazy. I saw her too." And then she left.
And deep inside of Yami, something fluttered excitedly.
// so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters //
Overhead, in the inky-blackness of the sky, the moon was full.
Yami gazed longing at the moon, and quietly whispered his wish to it. "I wish for someone to love; someone to call my own." Yami sighed and turned towards the box. Trembling, Yami opened it…and gasped softly.
Inside was a crystal. It glimmered dully under the soft moon-light. The crystal was perfectly clear -except for the silver threads of somethingrunning through it- and vaguely resembled a rose in bloom.
Yami recognized that crystal. That crystal was the Imperial Silver Crystal -or, as the Moon-elves call it, the Ginzoushou. It was their most powerful artifact, was in fact, the most powerful object within the seven realms ((1)). It also happened to be the last remainder of their last princess. The princess had supposedly been the most beautiful, the most pure, and the most powerful of the entire royal-line of the Moon-Elves. She had been so beautiful that wars were fought over her. She had been so pure that she was destined to become Cosmos, guardian of order, light, hope, and justice ((2)). She was so powerful that the Ginzoushou -instead of killing her the second she used it like it had her forbearers- it had bonded with her soul. Consequently, the royal line ended -the crystal had made her barren and when she died, it couldn't be used by anyone else. For the Moon-Elves to have given it up so freely…well…even he considered it to be sacrilege.
Hesitantly he clutched it. The crystal flared brilliantly -as did the moon- and before him stood the woman.
// never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know //
Under the moonlight, her hair was no longer a sun-kissed gold, but was now a brilliantly blazing silver. Her hair was still pulled up into two intricately weaved buns -one on either side of her head- with streamers that hung all the way to her ankles. Her eyes were still a bright crystalline-blue. Her skin glittered strangely; as if she had stars living under it. She was wearing a semi-see-through nightdress that clung to every curve of her body.
Yami gulped and held out his hand. The woman stared at him -confusion evident in her eyes. She tilted her head and then glanced warily at his hand. Hesitantly, she placed her hand in his -staring nervously at him the whole time.
// I never opened myself this way
life is ours; we live it our way
all these words I don't just say
and nothing else matters //
"It's okay," he whispered as reassuringly as he could. He had the strongest feeling that this beautifully enticing woman needed reassurance of some sort. "I won't hurt you."
Whether she understood him or not, she smiled tentatively and started speaking in a completely foreign language that sounded intricately musical to Yami's bewildered ears.
"Soth nan/ okpach ni ahlya?/ 'askar re-nut 'na/ klastorn'tua?/ por nque/ sept/ lom'thni'zt Serenitus 'Lupti crish'toh 'myes'li nime-no-Luptinotri fae." ((3))
[Do you know where I am? How did the crystal react to you? I am crown-princess Serenity Moon -beloved of the Moon-Elvish peoples.]
// trust I seek and I find it you
everyday for us something new
open mind for a different view
and nothing else matters //
He didn't understand a single word, but he did sense2 her confusion. He held out the crystal to her, and she stared at it. She smiled and the stars glowed and the moon smiled with her. She touched the crystal -almost sadly- and then closed Yami's hand about it.
// never cared about what the say
never cared for the games they play
never cared for what they do
never cared for what they know
but I know //
Yami blinked.
She stared deep into his eyes and smiled compassionately. " 'Myes'li ni/ p'thet shin." ((4))
[I am yours, for all eternity.]
He blinked again.
Softly, Serenity sighed. Almost irritably, she muttered, "poth" [bond]. The crystal flared brilliantly and softly melded with the Sennen Puzzle. She smiled happily and repeated, " 'Myes'li ni/ p'thet shin."
[I am yours, for all eternity.]
And this time he smiled. ((5))
Softly; gently, he held her to him, and whispered lovingly into her ear, "Biaw." ((6))
// so close no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trust in who we are
and nothing else matters //

Well…how was it? R/r please!
NOTES:
1. The seven realms are as follows: Heaven, Hell, Shadow Realm, Light Realm, Dream Realm, Ellysion, and Earth (as in everyday NORMAL Earth).
2. I have no clue as to whether this goes along with the original manga or not. But it's my story, so screw the original plot anyhow.
3. This is my own language. This language does not exist anywhere but in my head.
4. She says this because of three factors. One is the fact that the crystal responded to Yami -giving her it's blessings for their union. (Yes, she can have children now.) Then, there is the fact that when Yami made his wish, he wished for someone to love…*hint, hint*. And finally, there is the fact that Yami is hot…real hot.
5. When the Ginzoushou bonded with the Sennen Puzzle, it caused him to understand her language…(real dumb, I know, but who cares. It's my fic. Don't like it? Deal with it!)
6. This is Ancient Egyptian for 'mine'. Completely different from my language.
She's his. What more can I say?
