A/n: Since the last spacing arrangement worked so well, I'll use it from now on. If anyone is confused from this chapter, and the previous one. Queen Serenity had different plans, plans that will come forth in up-coming chapters. But, since Atemu didn't quite fallow those plans, (he didn't know Serenity hoped she'd set it just right) she became angered and had forgotten she herself had personally invited him to princess serenity's birthday ball. Confused, read this chapter carefully before asking any questions. Thank-you minna-san

Chapter 5 - The date

--

She sighed to herself once more. This stranger had called just as he had promised, and secretly Kayla wished all of this was a bad dream despite what her friends had been telling her. She longed to go home, forget all of this, but she couldn't turn back now. Adjusting her shoes on her feet, she made her way outside.

The sun seemed unusually bright today, or perhaps it was just she'd spent to much time indoors. In fact, if she remembered correctly, she really hadn't left her room since their arrival two days ago. Had it really been two days? It sure didn't feel that way. “Hello I'm Yami…” she heard a deep rich voice ask. Is Tsukino-san in?”

“I'm Tsukino-san….” Kayla begun carefully the moment she heard the voice. “How can I help you?”

“My name is….actually I can't remember what it is….but….I've been telling people to call me Yami. I spoke with you over the phone….”

“Oh, yes I remember you mentioned that you'd been having strange dreams.” Kayla begun to feel herself relax a little. Maybe this “Yami'” wasn't so bad. “Would you like to come in, or we could go out…”

“Ano…” He started to speak yet just seeing her face-to-face rendered him speechless. Why did he feel this way? He placed a hand to his head as a memory flashed through it.

Flashback

A week had passed since the ball, and Pharaoh Atemu couldn't keep his mind off of Princess Celina. No, not like love at first sight, but more like he hated what he'd seen. He closed his eyes rubbing his face from the slap mark. The sting had long since vanished but the events not so much. ::I have to see her again::

He boarded the first shuttle bound for the moon, and made it in record time. Once there he waited no time in seeking out his target, Princess Celina. He only hoped she was safe, and no harm had come to her in his absence. He could never forgive himself if harm had come to her, harm he himself, could have of prevented.
The girl in question sat outside staring off in the direction of the Earth. Pharoah Atemu had been on her mind, memories of how her so-called mother treating him ringing in her head. Oh how she wished he'd come to her, but after the way her mother treated him she highly doubted he would. “Princess…” she could hear a male voice calling out to her. “Princess Celina.”

“Pharaoh Atemu daijobou ka?” The voice asking the question sounded so real, and he could swore he felt a soft hand lightly shaking him.

End of Flashback

“Daijobou ka?!” Kayla called out to Yami. “Yami…Daijobou ka….” She then begun lightly shaking him tears filling her eyes. “Onegai….”

She could feel a hand wiping away her tears. “Hai, Daijobu.” He had replied. “I didn't mean to scare you. Have you eaten? Perhaps we both should go and get a bite or something.”

Kayla nodded. “Right….as long as you're really ok.”

“I'm fine; you need not worry about me.”

“If you say so…” Kayla still felt doubtful but exited Kaiba's home, and allowed him to take control of her wheelchair. She didn't know why but for some reason she kept getting this feeling like she's said those words to him before. Shaking it off she placed a smile on her face and allowed herself to just enjoy the day.

“So what do you like to Eat? I know a place that has just about anything.” Yami began needing to be spoon fed information through the mind link he shared with Yugi. ::Tell me again why I have to do this?::

::Its simple, you're the one that wants to get to know her, so its only fitting that you talk to her.:: Yugi returned, ::You're doing fine so far, relax, don't worry.::

::Don't worry…:: he grumbled wanting to say more to his counter part, but he didn't want to scare Kayla again.

“I'm up for anything; just being out in the world is nice. I don't really get out that much.” Kayla admitted. She found herself at a loss for words, and she couldn't think of one thing in which to make conversation. He seemed to be having the same problem, but why…. “so….um…..you into Dueling?”

::Finally something I can answer:: he thought to himself. “Why yes, I'm a pretty good duelist. Why do you ask? Are you planning on entering?”

“Iie, I think I'm better off as a spectator. I can hardly use my hands, much less use them to duel.” She laughed lightly.

Yami laughed along with her, “Come on, you can't be that bad.”

“You want to bet? I can hardly hold a deck of normal playing cards at times to play go fish.”

“You should at least give it a shot, you really never know unless you do.”

“I guess, but I'm still not going to enter, the ternement.

“I'm not asking you to enter, but what I'm asking is that you give playing, with no strings attached a shot. Maybe if you practice you'll be good enough to enter one.”

“Maybe…. Demo….”

“Ah here it is, so what would you like?” Yami asked changing the subject just as they arrived at the place Yugi had led him too.

“just a soda please, I'm really not that hungry.” Kayla sighed placing her chin in her hand and allowing what Yami had just said to sink in. She had never did give the game much thought, but this game did play a big part in her dreams, the question now, was why?

The sounds of screaming broke Kayla from her thoughts while her head titled towards the source. People had started to scatter flooding the streets. “What's going on?” she wondered aloud. ::I have to check it out, but I can't in front of Yami.

“Stay here….” Yami had said his voice becoming serious. Kayla simply nodded, and when she thought he was out of ear and eye shot she pushed her chair back and stood.

“Lunar Prism power make-up!” she called as her cloths vanished giving way to her senshi fuku. Carefully she moved out of the way of the tables and chairs and fallowed the sound, an all-to-familiar laugh reaching her ears. ::Usagi-chan:: she thought.

“Ah if it isn't my sister,” the girl known now as Usagi, started. “Get her….”

White human-like monsters with the upturned crescent leapt effortlessly over tables and chairs, aiming for their target. Kayla took a step back reflexively not able to fight her sister. “Why?”

“Simple, you are always in the way, and you'll pay for it. And, this time dear sister your Pharaoh can't save you.”

Kayla brought out her wand and aimed for the creatures. “Moonlight elimination!” she cried a silver-gold beam aimed directly for her targets.

“Do you really think that your power will out-match mine? Don't forget little sister, you are only at half the strength I am.”

Nani-o?!” Kayla cried. “Moonlight…..”

“That will not work…”

“Watch out!” Yami cried jumping in front of the now transformed Kayla. The puzzle around his neck begun to glow He extended a hand out toward Usagi, or rather Sailor Moon, a gold glow on his forehead as well. This symbol took on the appearance of an eye, a rather strange-looking eye at that, however it bore some type of significance to it. This symbol appeared on the puzzle he wore, and on six other items as well. The itaems were said to give their wheelder access to dark power, power that Yami planned to unleash on the unsuspecting moon bunny.

“What do you plan to do?” Do you honestly think you can stop me from getting what I want?”

But her words where cut off as all of her creatures vanished in a Smokey cloud of darkness. “Princess…” he turned facing Sailor Gwaten.

“Those that do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. History will repeat, do not allow it.” A voice called from the shadows. Sailor Moon had retreated, swearing that she would be back to finish what she, and her mother had started so long ago.

“Who are you show yourself….!” Yami called out turning to face the shadows that hid the speaker so well.

“I cannot, everything will play out, just you wait. Good-bye.”

“I wonder what that means….” Kayla, still Sailor Gwaten, whispered. She then remembered that she must return so as to make Yami think she'd never left. She darted back to their table and plopped herself in her wheelchair allowing her transformation to fade. She slid the chair into place and took a long sip of her soda.

Yami watched her retreating form for only a moment before remembering Kayla. He returned to the booth they had been sitting at, only to find her sipping away at her drink as if nothing had happened. ::I wonder what could have…:: he thought.

::I don't know, but wasn't that Sailor Moon? Did she not fight to protect the planet?:: Yugi wondered replying back to Yami through their mind link.

“::Yes but…. I don't know.::

“Yami, what's up is everything ok?” Kayla asked snapping him out of his thoughts.

“Hai….ano….lets go…..” Yami started to clean up and pulled Kayla from the booth.

“Ok, where to next?” Kayla asked with a soft smile.

“Well, why not just see what the world has in store for us. Its just nice being with you, and I hope to get to know you better.”

Kayla felt a blush stain her cheeks. “that's so sweet.” She smiled and spent the day with Yami. He showed her some of his and Yugi's favorite hang-outs, and she even tried her hand at dueling. She lost of chores, but it really didn't bother her so much because she at least completed the duel. However, as the sun set over the water she couldn't help but start to think about what had occurred at the restaurant. She tried anything possible to deny the facts, but try as she might, she couldn't. Usagi had shown up, As sailor moon no less, and started to attack her. ::Why:: she had to wonder. ::Why would she care Why her?:: Her hands flew to her head as a memory flashed through her brain.

Flashback

Princess Celina stared out at the earth, her mind on a certain Pharaoh when a knock sounded at her door. “Come in” she called not turning to face her door.

The creaking of the door alerted her that the knocker had heard her and had entered. “Princess you've been a very naughty girl, and for that you'll be punished.” Her mother purred from right behind her, “And, don't forget…fighting me is useless so don't even try.”

Princess Celina's eyes grew wide as she felt herself flying back into her bed. Just like a lion stalking its pray, the queen had leapt on her daughter pinning her in place before she had a chance to react. “Mamma…no….”

“Too late for that dear girl…. Now submit…..” Celina tensed as she felt the cool blade slicing through her dress. Her body trembled in expectation cutting her skin. However this did not stop her mother for she lengthened the cut saying, “Naughty princess got blood all over the place. Using the blade-filled hand, the queen backhanded her daughter leaving a slice right under the eye.

End Flashback

Yami raced over to Kayla placing his hands around her and pulling her back, preventing her from falling over. It appeared the girl had lost consciousness, so he took her back to the game shop where Yugi lived. He took her upstairs lying her on Yugi's bed and sighed. He knew the young man would want his body back, but at the same time did not see how he could keep an eye on Kayla. “I'll be back Kayla-chan.” Yami promised, having learned early on she hated being called Tsukino-san. With the blink of an eye he once again traded places with his counter part allowing him use of his body in order to do what ever he needed.

Rei had felt something disturbing when she had gone to get dinner. An unsettling feeling, one that suggested that this fight was only just getting started. “Has anyone seen Kayla-chan?”

“Not since this afternoon, when someone calling himself Yami came to pick her up.” Lita commented her head in the fridge. “Though I would have thought she'd be back by now. Why is there something wrong Rei-chan?”

“I'm not sure, I just keep getting this rather unsettling feeling, and….”

“I'd like to say its nothing, but did this come with a vision?”

“Iie, and that's what worries me. I'll give Kayla a call, if I know she's ok it may help settle my nerves.” Rei sighed disappearing into her room and digging through her things for her cell phone. She would have used the watch-like device all the girls carried, but she didn't want it going off if Kayla was not in a position to answer it. Finally she found it thumbing from her address book looking for her friends number. Placing the phone to her ear she tried.

Her heart beat in her chest so fast she could sware it wanted to burst right out of her chest. Each ring only made it beat faster, until finally it reached a voice mailbox. “Kayla-chan if you're there please call me back?” she said to the machine knowing that Kayla wouldn't hear the message until she checked her voicemail. Rei sighed, trying the watch-like device. Again, Rei got no reply.

“Guys I'm going to look for Kayla-chan. I tried calling her, but she didn't reply.” Rei announced to her friends.

“I'll take you, I know the city fairly well.” Kaiba, Seto, their host offered causing everyone to turn their heads. Anyone that knew Seto knew him to be not so much of a people person, sort of speaking. He often worked long hours rarely at home. When at home, he would often be locked in his study for hours on end his face glued to his laptop. So, for him to openly offer to assist someone, anyone, was considered a rare change.

“Are you sure Nii-sama?” Mokuba, his little brother questioned. “I can escort the young lady, if you-“

“No, Mokuba, I'm fine, besides you've got homework remember?”

“Right…good night minna-san” the small chilled called out bounding off to his bedroom to do the said homework.

“Will you be needing me to drive you sir?” Roland, his head advisor inquired.”

“I'll be fine driving myself.”

“Right sir, call if you need anything.” He then left and Rei stood gazing at Seto.

“I can look for her on my own, you don't have-“

Seto cut her off, “I insist, after all you are my guests; I should be looking out for your well-being while you are under my roof.” He had stated.

“Right…” Rei nodded, “Best get going.” She sighed, she really didn't want anyone to join her, especially Seto. She had a feeling her friend may be in trouble, and she didn't know if she was walking into a trap. So, this is why she wished to go alone. She'd been through enough messes of this nature to know that she may be fighting, and she didn't want the added risk of having to protect someone else, much less, the head of a international company. Not that she didn't mind, but still she didn't know what she'd do if forced to fight.

Her visions came back to her as she placed on her shoes allowing Seto to lead her out. She spoke not a word as a thought crossed her mind. ::Maybe our being here is to protect Seto and his friends. Wait, did he have friends…? And, who was this Yami?:: all ran through her mind. Her eyes looked all around her as she remained on guard, not wishing to get distracted. But, her heart would speed up every time she saw Seto. ::Why do I feel this way?:: ran through her mind as she purposely avoided his gaze.

Kayla cracked her eyes open as she set up slowly, blinking to allow what remained of her eyesight to adjust to the dim lighting provided from the moon. “Where am I?” she asked weekly.

“Good you're awake. Yami'll be glad to know. He brought you here after you fainted and nearly fell into the river.” A young child-like male voice started to explain. “Watashi wa Motou Yugi, and you're in my home above the Kame game shop.”

“Arigatou Yugi-kun…demo I best get going my friends will be worried.” Kayla stood but her legs gave under her weight, whatever had caused her fainting spell had also removed her legs ability to function.

“Easy there Tsukino-san….you should rest here for the night, I'm sure if you gave your friends a call they won't worry.”

Kayla thought for a moment and then Rei entered her mind. She would have sinced the fainting spell, and would be out of her mind with worry. The sound that alerted Kayla of voice mail sounded and she sighed. She didn't have to open the phone to know who had sent it. She replayed the message before placing the phone to her ear to reply.
