Crossing time
Part 4 (Omi)
By Yami Kitsune (beta'd by yamibakura~ <3)

Omi looked at the horse that Bakura said he was going to be riding that night for the heist. It was Omi's first heist, and he was more then a little nervous about riding a horse by himself. But Marik wasn't back yet, from where ever he went, and Omi was sure that Bakura didn't want to share his horse with someone he hated.

Bakura stood back watching Omi; he didn't know why, but he hadn't been able to get the blonde boy out of his head, and it was annoying the hell out of him. Bakura watched as Omi went over to one of the horses and reached out to pet it. That's when Bakura saw someone in the small cave above the stables, he couldn't see who it was, but he did see a glint of silver. His legs were moving before his mind registered what he was doing. He pulled Omi out of the way just seconds before the knife flew past the horses head, sticking into the ground where Omi had been standing.

Omi yelped in surprise at suddenly being tackled that way. He and Bakura landed on the ground, and Omi watched with wide eyes as the horse pulled back standing on its back legs, before bringing its front hoofs down, just a hairs breadth away from his head. Omi felt himself being pulled from the stable as the horse continued to go crazy.

“Are you okay?” Bakura asked looking at Omi who was still trying to get his bearings.

“uh…h-hai, hai, daijoubu.” Omi said in Japanese with out realizing it. Bakura blinked at him. “Oh, I mean I'm fine.” Omi smiled at him.

“Good. I didn't feel like calling of tonight's heist because you were stupid and got hurt.” Bakura said standing up straits. Omi blinked at him and glared slightly.

“Is it really that hard to say something NICE to me once in a while?” Omi asked crossing his arms.

“Yes,” said Bakura. “You better go get ready to leave, its almost time to go.” He didn't look at Omi, whose cheeks were puffing out in anger. Omi stood and pushed past Bakura stomping off. Bakura ignored him going over to get the horses ready to leave.

~*~

By the time Omi had finished getting ready, the sun had set and it was time to leave. Omi was slightly disappointed that Marik hadn't made it back yet; he really didn't want to ride a horse by himself. But he also didn't want to get Bakura angry at him. It was stupid to be afraid of an animal, but nearly being crushed by one today, added to the fear he had from falling off one when he was younger, made him nearly terrified to even LOOK at the large animal.

The curtain opened and Bakura came in to see if Omi was done getting ready yet. He stopped in the door and looked at Omi. The baggy pants that the blond boy had borrowed from Bakura were a bit too big around his skinny waist, and they kept falling down every time Omi bent over to pick something up. He was currently looking for another sash to help hold the pants up. The pants sliding back down in the process, giving Bakura a very nice view of his ass.

Omi stood back up and pulled his pants back up to where they belonged, tying the second sash around he smiled and nodded to him self. Bakura shook his head, snapping out of his thoughts of pouncing Omi right then and there.

//NO, I don't like the kid. Okay, he DOES have a nice body, but he is still a kid, and his attitude sucks.// Bakura thought, nodding in agreement with himself. Omi pulled on a robe that Marik had given him before turning around to head back to the stables. He blinked when he saw Bakura standing there staring at him.

“…How long have you been standing there?” Omi asked.

“Not long. Are you ready to go?” Bakura asked not meeting Omi's eyes. Omi nodded and smiled again.

“Yeah, I'm ready.” He said. Bakura nodded and the two of them headed back to the stables. Omi watched as Bakura headed over to his own horse and pointed to one.

“You'll be riding that one.” Bakura said hopping up on his horse. Because it was Omi's first time on a heist it was only Omi and Bakura going. Omi stared at the horse and swallowed. He slowly went over to it, his hands shaking slightly as he reached out to the horse. The horse looked at him as he grabbed the rains. Omi smiled when the horse didn't do anything, and he climbed up on it.

//This isn't so bad.// Omi thought as he settled down onto the horse. But as he sat down, he landed on the horses back a little too hard. The next thing Omi knew he was being thrown from the horse. Omi yelped in pain as he landed on his butt. Bakura rolled his eyes and rode over to Omi.

“If you're going to be this clumsy, then we might as well stay home.” Bakura growled. Omi frowned at him.

“Sorry…I just don't like horses.” He said looking down; Bakura rolled his eyes again and held out his hand.

“Come on, you'll ride with me then. And when Marik gets back, I'll have him teach you how to ride, and maybe you'll learn to actually stay on a horse.” Bakura said. Omi blinked up at him with wide eyes. He slowly took Bakura's hand. The King of Thieves pulled Omi from the ground onto the horse in one smooth motion. Omi was a little surprised at how easily Bakura had lifted him with one hand. Omi was placed in front of Bakura; that way Bakura could make sure Omi wouldn't fall off again.

Omi felt his cheeks turn red when Bakura wrapped his arms around him so he could grab the rains. Bakura glanced down at him to make sure he was secure, and then with a swift kick to the horse, they were off.

Omi gasped in surprised and reached up grabbing Bakura's arms, still afraid he was going to fall off. Omi leaned back against Bakura. The silver-haired thief looked down at him again; Bakura was surprised to feel his heart skip a beat. The moon had just started riding, and it made Omi's pale skin look as if it were glowing. //He really is beautiful…//Bakura though then shook his head. //No, I have to stop thinking like this! He is nothing more then a smart ass little brat.// Bakura said fighting with himself whether or not he thought Omi was cute or not. He pushed all thoughts out of his mind, not willing to think about it at that moment, and constrained on where they were going.

Omi looked up at Bakura, and he couldn't help but smile a little. Even though Omi knew the thief didn't like him, he couldn't help but be attracted to Bakura. It was part of Omi's natural sense of curiosity; he had always been attracted to people he should hate. That was why he had saved his brother; even though he knew what he was doing was wrong, he wanted to give the man a chance to get away, just to see what would happen. And before all this had happened, Omi had found himself dreaming about the telekinetic of Schwarz. Omi's mind started wandering now as he wondered what everyone back home was doing.

//Probably fighting with each other.// Omi thought with an amused smile. As he continued to let his thoughts wander, he hadn't realized that they had arrived at the village until he felt Bakura hit him upside the head.

“Hey! What was that for?!” Omi snapped, rubbing the offended area.

“Shut up and let's go.” Bakura said practically pulling Omi off the horse with him. Omi yelped as he stumbled right into Bakura, who just rolled his eyes. (AN: Bakura dose that a lot when it comes to Omi…I just realized that.)

“Okay, tonight should be easy. We will just be sneaking into that house over there, steal some jewels, then sneak back out again. The only things you have to watch out for are the guards patrolling the village.” Bakura said showing Omi the house they would be stealing from. Bakura and his band of thieves had just raided this same village a few nights ago, but they had missed that one house because there were too many people inside.

“Sounds easy enough.” Omi said smiling.

“You think so? Good then you go first.” Bakura smirked. Omi smiled more and nodded. He walked down the street to the house and looked around to see if there was anyone watching him he crouched down before easily jumping into the tiny window. Bakura watched slightly amazed as Omi disappeared into the window just seconds before a guard came around the corner.

Bakura ducked behind some barrels and waited for the guard to pass. He watched as the guard walked by him. He peeked out and waited until the guard had turned the corner before looking back at the house. But as soon as he turned around he came face to face with Omi who was standing there smiling at him.

“Here you go.” Omi said holding out his hand and dropping a handful of jewelry in Bakura's hand. Bakura stared at them before glaring. //Cocky little brat.// He growled in his head. Omi's smile faded. “…those are okay…aren't they?”

“Yeah, these are fine. You got in and out of there pretty fast though.” Bakura said looking back at Omi. Omi just shrugged.

“I know how to be quiet.”

“Hn.” Was all Bakura said. He shoved the jewels in his pouch just as another guard came around the corner and stopped when he saw Bakura. He recognized him!

“It's Akeifa!!” The guard shouted witch alerted the others near by. Bakura cursed.

“Time to go, Miu!” Bakura said grabbing Omi's hand and running down the street. The guard chased them, others soon joined the first. Omi and Bakura were chased all over the village before the two of them finally found a place to hide in a tight space, barely big enough for the two of them. As it was they were pressed up against each other, every part of their body touching.

Bakura didn't seem to notice this at first as he watched the guards run by them. He relaxed a little.

“We will wait here for a few minutes. Just to be sure they won't find us.” He said and looked down at Omi who was blushing at how close they were.

“o-okay…” Omi said softly his voice breaking slightly when he felt something pressing up against him. His eyes went wide as it seemed to register with Bakura how close the two of them were as well.

//Ra, not now! Not now!// Bakura cursed his body, but he couldn't help it. He and Omi were so close to each other, and even though HE hated Omi (or so he told himself) apparently his body didn't. Even there wasn't really any place to move, Bakura tried to. He stopped moving when Omi gasped.

“Ba-Bakura…uh….” Omi couldn't think of what to say, the words went flying out of his head when Bakura shifted again, Omi's own body reacting to Bakura's growing hard-on pressing up against his. Omi glanced up at Bakura through his bangs; Bakura was staring down at him, lust flashing in his eyes. Omi swallowed hard and pressed back against the wall as much he could. He shifted his feet back trying to make it so not so much of his body was touching Bakura's.

But as he did, he felt something slowly crawling up the leg of his pants. He looked down quickly, just in time to see the tail of a scorpion disappear under his pants and start making its way north. Eyes wide Omi shifted praying that the scorpion wouldn't decide to sting him.

“…Bakura…” He whispered, barely audible

“Shh.” The thief shushed him, thinking Omi was about to ask him about the `problem' he had developed. Omi felt the poisonous creature ambling higher, and he couldn't help himself- he screamed.

Bakura jumped, not expecting Omi to suddenly scream that way. He could hear the guards doubling back to investigate the noise. He knew he had to shut Omi up somehow, and did the first thing that came to his mind. He leaned in and kissed him. Omi stopped screaming the second he felt Bakura's lips on his. Bakura was a little shocked with himself, but the kiss was nice, and it just made his body react more. As a reflex he pressed more against Omi. Omi whimpered slightly.

That's when Bakura felt something crawling between him and Omi. He pulled back slightly and looked down. Seeing nothing he looked back at Omi who was just staring.

“Why….why did you kiss me….?” Omi asked, having forgotten about the scorpion currently crawling around his pants.

“I had to stop you from screaming somehow.” Bakura said with a shrug. Omi would have hit Bakura, if the scorpion hadn't started crawling north again. Omi looked down and whimpered.

“What?” Bakura asked.

“There….there's a scorpion…” Omi said tensing up when he felt it crawling up around his member.

“By RA! Is THAT why you screamed?!” Omi nodded slowly. Bakura grumbled rolling his eyes yet again. The next thing he knew Bakura was loosening the sash around his waist and slid his hand in slowly. Omi yelped and started struggling, only to be pressed against the wall by Bakura.

“If you don't want to be stung, then hold still.” He growled. Omi bit his lip trying not to make any noise. Omi yelped.

“Hey! What are you…” Omi was cut off when Bakura leaned in kissing him again. His hand has accidentally brushed Omi's member. Omi mumbled something against Bakura's lips, But Bakura ignored him as he continued looking for the scorpion, witch was making its way back down Omi's leg. Omi sighed in relief when the scorpion was gone. But Bakura hadn't pulled back yet, and Omi was about to, when Bakura's hand brushed against him again.

Omi gasped eyes wide, Bakura took advantage of this and darted his tongue between Omi's lips. Omi struggled a little more before slowly relaxing and started kissing Bakura back. Bakura smiled against his lips when he felt Omi pressing back against him. Bakura pulled away making Omi whimper at the loss of his mouth. But Omi's protest didn't' last long as Bakura moved down to his neck.

“Bakura…” Omi moaned wrapping his arms around him. Bakura suddenly pulled back and said something in Egyptian that Omi didn't understand, before squirming out of the tight space.

“uh…Bakura?” Omi asked softly. He wasn't sure what was wrong, but he was sure that it was his fault.

“The guards are gone… for now. We should get going before they come back. Bakura said not even looking at Omi. Omi looked down and nodded.

“Okay…” He said and followed Bakura out of the village to where they had left the horse. Bakura helped Omi climb up before hopping on behind him. Omi was trying to think of something to say, wanting to know why Bakura had started kissing him like that, and what had made him stop. Omi was about to try and ask him, but Bakura interrupted him.

“What happened in the alley tonight shouldn't have. I am not attracted to you; it was just my body looking for someone to work out my frustrations with. Like I do with Marik, do you understand?” Bakura said as he and Omi headed back to the cave. Omi kept his head lowered holding back his tears. Omi had known that Bakura didn't like him, and Omi told himself that he didn't like Bakura all that much either. So then, why did the thief's words hurt the young boy so much?

Part 4 (Nagi)

Nagi sat sidesaddle on Marik's horse as they rode into the cave. He had started shaking once Marik got him away from Sethos. Nagi's trembling would increase every time he thought about what would have happened if Marik hadn't stopped the high priest. And what would happen if Sethos ever caught Marik. As it was Nagi was slightly in shock from the nights events.

Nagi felt the horse come to a stop. He glanced up from where he was huddled in Marik's oversize robe. He felt someone new pulling him away from Marik. He started struggling; he couldn't be taken away from Marik! Marik was the only safe place right now!! Being near Marik made Nagi feel safe, He couldn't lose that feeling.

“Hey, it's okay. No one's going to hurt you!” Marik said as Nagi latched onto him again. He looked over at the man who had tried to take Nagi and sighed. “Could you take care of my horse?” The man smiled and nodded.

“Yes sir.” He said and led to the horse to the stable. Marik brought Nagi back to his room to get him cleaned up, and put some cloths on that were less revealing.

“Bakura should be home soon.” Marik began, without preamble. Nagi looked at him. “Until we can get you some new clothes, you'll have to make do with Omi's for now. Is that alright with you?” Nagi nodded not sure what to do. Belatedly, Marik's words sank in.

//I wonder if it really IS Omi…// Nagi thought as he was led through the large cave to the back where the bath was. Marik opened the curtain letting Nagi in first.

“You can wash up here, and I will get you something to wear.” Marik said. Marik nodded and slowly let go of Marik. Marik watched him pull off his vest, and start on his pants. Marik went to raid Omi's clothes while Nagi finished undressing. Marik came back just as Nagi was climbing into the water.

“Here you go. I will be back in a few minutes with some food. Will you be alright by yourself?” Nagi nodded and watched Marik leave. He sighed and lowered himself in the water until he was almost completely submerged in it.

//we were both on the plane…// Nagi mused, idly blowing bubbles in the water. //it is possible he was tossed back too...? Improbable, but not impossible, I guess… what are the odds of that, though?// Nagi continued thinking even as Marik came back in holding a bowl. He set it down next to the cloths and paused for a moment.

“Are you okay?” He asked.

“Hai…I'm alright.” Nagi said lowering his head again. Marik watched him, he was about to ask if Nagi needed anything else, but before he could, the curtain was thrown up and Omi came running in. Marik watched Omi run over and collapse on the pillows. Marik blinked and went over to him.

“Omi?” Marik asked sitting next to Omi. Omi rubbed his eyes and looked up at Marik. His eyes were slightly red from crying. This made Marik frown.

“Hey kiddo. What's wrong?” He asked putting a hand on Omi's head. Omi just threw his arms around him, just needing human contact from someone he trusted. Marik blinked at him, but wrapped his arms around him. The curtain opened again and Bakura stomped in. Marik felt Omi tense slightly and glared at Bakura.

“Alright, what did you do to the kid this time Bakura?” Marik asked.

“I didn't to anything!” Bakura snapped pulling his robes off. Nagi had ducked down in the water so that the others couldn't see him. His eyes were wide as he stared at Omi. Omi HAD been sucked into the past with him! Nagi was still shocked to see Omi, he hadn't noticed Bakura coming over to the bath, until he felt his hair being grabbed, and he was pulled up and out of the water.

“Who in the name of Set is THIS!?” Bakura snapped. Both Marik and Omi looked up when Nagi screamed.

“No! Don't hurt me! I'm sorry! Don't hurt me please! I'm sorry!” Nagi yelled franticly in Japanese. Omi's eyes went wide.

“Nagi!?!?!?!?!”

Nagi was still spewing things out in Japanese. Omi rushed over and pushed Bakura away, forgetting his hurt for the moment. Nagi cringed, yelping when Bakura dropped him. Omi frowned. This wasn't ANYTHING like the steely, confident telekinetic Omi had known. “Nagi! It's okay. Bakura won't hurt you. What are you DOING here?” He asked trying to calm Nagi down some.

Nagi had regained some semblance of calm. “I was just about to ask you the same thing…” Nagi said then it just registered WHERE Omi was. “Wait…You're a THIEF?” Nagi asked. Before Omi could answer Bakura growled.

“You KNOW each other?” He asked, obviously not happy that there was another new person here. To Marik he said. “Where did you find him? And why is he HERE?” Marik gave Omi's red rimmed eyes another look and dragged the half naked Bakura out of the room to talk. Nagi glanced over as they left and relaxed a bit more. It was very odd that Nagi felt more comfortable with his sworn enemy then anyone else at the moment.

“Uh…yeah…I guess I kind of am a thief.” Omi said rubbing the back of his head as he watched Nagi pick up his clothes and put them on. It felt good to be able to be completely covered again.

“So what about you? Why are you here?” And where did Marik-kun find you?” Omi asked. Nagi looked down, his bangs shadowing his eyes.

“I…I've been at the palace….” He said softly Omi blinked at him.

“The pharaoh's palace?”

“No, Crawford's palace. Of COURSE the pharaoh's palace!” Nagi snapped. Omi shrank back slightly.

“Sorry…” Omi sighed. Nagi blinked at him. He was the one who had just snapped at him for no reason, so why was Omi sorry? “Marik-kun and Bakura-san both told me what the pharaoh was like. And since you never seemed to be the kind of person to willingly get a piercing I can only guess that you were a…” Omi stopped talking when he saw Nagi shaking. His fists clenched by his side, and his shoulders shook as he tried not to cry. Omi felt his heart go out to the smaller boy. He walked over to Nagi and wrapped his arms around him from behind. Nagi gasped and looked up at Omi.

“It's okay Nagi, you're safe here. I don't know what happened to you, but whatever it was, it's over now. And if you need to cry, you can.” A combination of Omi's words, and the feeling of warm arms wrapped around him were the straws that broke the camels back, and he broke down. Omi held Nagi up as the other boys' knees gave out. Omi slowly sat down and held Nagi close to him as hi long time enemy cried. Omi half wondered if living in the pharaoh's palace was this bad to reduce the once calm, seemingly emotionless teenager of Schwarz to the frightened, sobbing creature Omi was now comforting.

Omi looked up at the door, where he could vaguely hear Bakura and Marik fighting. He hated it when they argued, and usually hid out in Jou's tent, or a small cave he had discovered, depending on whether or not both of them needed time to cool down. Omi sighed and continued to hold Nagi close as he cried.

~*~

Just outside, Bakura and Marik were both trying not to punch the other.

”Why did you bring that kid here, Marik?!” Bakura snapped angrily.

“I told you! He was a slave at the palace. And he definitely didn't like it there!” Marik snapped right back.

”He can't stay here!” Bakura growled. “We already have enough trouble with Omi. We don't need to baby-sit another brat!”

“We can't just send him away! He'd die in the desert alone.” Marik said defensively. He'd just saved the boy from certain death, and wasn't willing to toss him back to the jackals so soon.

”Then send him back to the Ra-damned pharaoh! I don't care what you do with him, but he is NOT staying here!”

“Are you fucking CRAZY?! You would willingly send an innocent child back to that PRISON?!? I knew you were a cold-hearted bastard, but this is bad, even for YOU.” Marik growled. “And speaking of being cold-hearted, why was Omi crying when you two came back? What have you done to him this time?”

“I haven't done anything to him. And I don't know why he was crying. He's just a whiny brat.”

“If you hurt Omi , then so help me, Bakura, I will not hesitate to kill you!”

“I didn't do a RA DAMN THING to him!” Bakura shouted. “He just started crying on the way back home, and wouldn't tell me what was wrong! Not that I care, he can go ahead and cry his eyes out as long as he doesn't annoy me in the process.” Bakura said gruffly, crossing his arms across his chest. He didn't realize that his overwhelming rage had started to subside as soon as Marik mentioned Omi. Marik, for his part, shook his head and turned to go back into the other room.

”Oh,” he called over his shoulder. “Nagi stays. He and Omi seem to know each other, and it would be good for Omi to have someone more familiar around him when you and I are gone.” He disappeared through the curtain, having said his piece. Bakura followed him, intending to protest something more, but he stopped when he saw that Omi and Nagi had both fallen asleep together curled up on the pillows. He sighed, resigned.

“All right… He stays.”

Marik hid his grin of victory under his robes as he pulled them off. Gently, he laid it over the two sleeping boys to keep them warm.

//I think things are about to get a lot more interesting around here…// he mused quietly.
