Chapter 12

By Sapadu

A/N: Everyone wave and say hi to a very good friend of mine! Her name is Megami-chan, and she appears in this chapter. Hooray!

Megami-chan... I'm sorry for beating you up a little. It's just that time of the month for me.

"KEI-ICH-I-KU-UN!" Samantha called, flipping upside-down from a tree branch. Keiichi waved hi to Sammy while Kamui jumped about a foot in the air. Sammy's long, curled hair dangled with her ever-present necklace. Today, she was in a fluffy, lilac 'Pink-House' dress, with the skirt carefully tucked around her as she hung from the tree branch by her knees.

"HIYA, SAPPI-CHAN!" Keiichi replied, waving back as Sammy flipped and landed gracefully before the two. Kamui blinked at her before mutely raising one hand and vaguely gesturing at Samantha's dress.

"Um... what...?" He stammered, uselessly. Samantha gave her outfit a quick once-over before she smiled unfalteringly at Kamui.

"Two of my coworkers are insane. They tried to make 'Soka-kun wear this, but I stepped in." She explained. Kamui thought back to Hisoka's girly face and bad temper and decided that the girl's explanation made perfect sense.

"GUE-E-E-ESS what I brought!" Samantha suddenly squealed, whipping out a bag and waving it around in the air. Keiichi watched the bag with the accuracy of a cat watching a ball of string.

"What? What did you bring?" He asked, excitedly. Samantha opened the bag to reveal a box of homemade cookies, a pound cake, three puddings, sandwiches, slices of meat, something that looked like sausage but wasn't QUITE, and a tub of sauce.

"...Food? You brought... food?" Kamui asked, having difficulty with this idea.

"It's TI-I-I-IME... for LUNCH!" Samantha said, her voice dropping a full octave. Kamui wanted to run. Really fast. And preferably far away, screaming.

"OOOH! You made those cookies! I LOVE your cookies!" Keiichi bounced, looking, honest to god, like he'd died and gone to heaven.

"But! Kei-kun, remember, these cookies are SPECIAL! It takes BRAINS to make THESE cookies!" Samantha lectured. Kamui watched, and he had a slight feeling in the pit of his stomach that he was reenacting a scene from Subaru's teenage years. The thought disturbed him, quite horrifically.

"What brought this on?" Kamui asked, finally managing to put a full sentence together.

Keiichi looked horror struck.

"Shirou-kun, we couldn't have a romantic lunch if we didn't have FOOD!" And when Kamui did a first-class imitation of a tomato with hair, he continued, "You mean Sapadu-senpai didn't tell you that she was setting up a couple's picnic for the two of this?" Keiichi looked quite embarrassed until a cherry-red Kamui started to mumble under his breath.

"She DID but I thought she was just kidding or something. And she said something about it being a surprise and not supposed to tell me and..." Kamui trailed off as Keiichi grinned again and called over to Samantha.

"Sappi-chan, you're the best!" Sammy grinned and pulled out a blanket from nowhere to use as a picnic blanket.

"Sou desu yo... SOU DESU YO-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO-HO!" She trailed off into a high-pitched laugh, which made Seishirou, hiding over in a tree, cringe.

'Good Lord... she's just like Hokuto-chan..." He thought and when he heard laughter from the tree, added, 'I will thank you to stay out of this, Tree.'

"Snicker, snicker, snicker." Said Tree-san.

A/N: For everyone who knows me, let's all go 'Eeew' on the count of three.

"Goldilocks to Papa Bear. Do you read me? Over." Samantha hissed into her walkie-talkie. Static was heard on the other end until a female voice came in.

"This is Papa Bear. I read you, Goldilocks. Over." The girl on the other end was also whispering. Samantha grinned and crouched down even further behind her bush.

"Goldilocks has left the Lovebirds. Looking for confirmation on Wish-Genie, God-man. Over." Samantha replied, trying to keep quiet, lest Kamui or Keiichi hear her voice and come looking for her. NOTHING was to interrupt their lunch date, least of all, Fuuma.

"Wish-Genie, God-man secure in the Lamp. Over." Whispered back the girl on the other end, obviously amused.

"Is Walking-Cleavage in Flight? Over." Samantha asked. There was a pause before the other girl whined.

"Sapu-chan, why do we have to talk in code like this?" Sammy rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Because it's amusing me, now... IS WALKING-CLEAVAGE IN FLIGHT?" Sammy snarled. She could hear the other girl rolling her eyes.

"Walking-Cleavage is Grounded. Now, Sapu-chan, can we stop talking like this?" Whined the other girl.

"Aw, but Megami-chan... you thought that last line was funny." Argued Sammy.

"True, but there's something I want to tell you that I don't know the code for." Megami-chan insisted. Samantha blinked and looked around to make sure no one was spying on her.

"Okay, what? But before that, how's Fuu-kun?" She asked, in the customary gossipy way that girls tend to have.

"Fuuma's fine, but I put bleach in his shampoo, so his hair is turning a sexy shade of gray." The Drow snickered. Sammy smiled, patiently.

"You're not spying- You're stalking him with a camera, aren't you?" She asked. Megami-chan started to giggle.

"How'd you guess?"

A/N: I credit this idea to my sister.

"Your mom said 'Upstairs', not 'Library'." Tea pointed out as Ken hid behind a HUGE volume on omnyouji. From what anyone could see of the Jedi Prince, he seemed to shrug.

"Eh, if she's expecting a guest, that probably means we won't get much studying done at my house. Thus, library is better." Ken explained, though Joey mumbled something about Ken not even doing schoolwork. Luke interjected.

"Ken's mother is very serious about him taking over the omnyouji business when she can't do it anymore, so he actually DOES have to study that- I kid you, not." Joey and Tristan only grumbled at that. Yugi, like a good little boy, was finishing his math homework.

"Though, Ken, that book is so heavy, it'll probably give you hairs as gray as your eyes." Luke added as an afterthought. Ken stood up and glared at Luke over the top of the book.

"My eyes are just fine, and you tell me that every day." He insisted in a bit of a shrill voice. Yugi finally looked up from his paper.

"So much for a quiet atmosphere." He muttered to Tea, who stifled a giggle. That's when Joey spotted Kaiba over by computer books and drew everyone's attention to him. Luke frowned in Kaiba's general direction.

"So that's Seto Kaiba... funny, I pictured him with more scales..." He said, mildly. Ken stood up, whispered something to Tristan and Joey like 'Rate me' and walked over to Kaiba until he was standing barely an inch away from the CEO. Kaiba glared at him.

"What?" He snarled. Ken made his best face.

"You're IN my SPACE." Ken said, simply and sat down when Kaiba gave him a rough shove away. Joey and Tristan were holding up cards that read "10".

"Well... THAT was pretty rude..." Tea muttered. Nobody responded until Kaiba started screaming as a flock of books attacked him, snapping their pages at him like jaws. Ken looked over at Luke.

"Was that an appropriate use of the Force, Master Jedi?" He asked. Luke shrugged, noncommittal.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LOST HIM?!" Shouted Samantha, trying very hard not to blow off her best friend's head. Seeing as Megami was a Drow with blue hair, pointed ears, and fangs, that wouldn't have done much good, but it sure as hell would have made Sammy feel better.

"Well... he heard me in the bushes, snickering and talking to you, and so he... got away..." Megami explained, lamely. Samantha looked at the other girl, incredulously.

"YOU'RE A DROW! HOW THE HELL DID HE GET AWAY FROM YOU?! AND HOW THE HELL COULD HE HEAR YOU TO BEGIN WITH?!" Sammy shouted. Megami shrugged, looking just as displeased that her magic had failed her.

"He's the KAMUI, for crying out loud! Maybe there's more to him than the good looks, the Evil Sunglasses of Sexiness (tm of Kouri and Karasu), the psycho-babble games, and the Wish-seeing!" She shouted. Samantha paused to consider this perfectly logical and extremely infuriating point.

"... Which direction was he headed?" She finally asked. Megami shifted her weight.

"CLAMP Campus..." She finally spat out. Samantha stared, rooted to the spot.

"Fuck." She finally uttered, in a syllable just LADEN with meaning.

******************

Kamui hated fate. He really did. And he hated karma, too. For some odd reason, Kamui decided it was his eternal fate to have wonderful, perfect days, which would then, always- always, always, always, always, always- be interrupted by Fuuma blowing up city blocks and killing countless people.

Kamui saw the kekkai go up from a mile away- it was star-shaped which meant... oh, perfect...

He hated just dumping Keiichi like that and running, but he figured he had no choice. Kamui jumped from one building to another in his haste to get to the block that Fuuma was attempting to level. Subaru's kekkai seemed to be holding well, so at least that was one less thing to worry about.

Kamui landed to a long rant coming from a young woman in omnyouji robes- most of her screaming seemed to consist of 'You fucking bastard!', 'I hope you fucking die!', and 'YOU'RE PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS, ASSHOLE!' as she stood on the remains of what was, apparently, her house.

And the young man she was screaming and obscenely gesturing at was...

No... it couldn't be... Kamui blinked and realized his eyes were tricking him- Fuuma's hair was just lighter, but that's all it took and Kamui couldn't help but see Keiichi's face.

"Ah... Kamui... how good of you to join us." Fuuma smiled, charmingly turning to face Kamui... and there it was again...

"Se... ga... wa... kun..." Kamui breathed, each syllable coming out on its own. WHY? Why was Kamui seeing Keiichi's face? Fuuma really didn't LOOK like Keiichi and yet...

Kamui couldn't help it- he saw his classmate's bright, cheerful, smiling face, even as Fuuma's expression changed to a scowling sneer... and somehow, Kamui could have sworn he saw the same look in Fuuma's eyes that he'd seen in Keiichi's when he'd spoken about stopping the earthquakes... the same determination, the same dislike, the same... the same... Kamui didn't know WHAT... but it was THERE!

And before Kamui could move, there was a blast that sent him flying backwards into a house that hadn't yet been knocked down. Kamui felt his back fill with splinters as plaster and wood shattered against his back.

"KAMUI!" Kamui heard someone shouting... who was that... sounded familiar...

"Now, now, Subaru-kun, let's play fair, shall we?" That was... that was Fuuma... so Subaru was the other voice...

******************

Ken looked right up at the ceiling and quickly stood up, gathering everything he could into his bag in two seconds.

"Let's go." Ken muttered, quickly shoving everyone else's books into their bags.

"Wah? But we jus' got here!" Joey protested, but Ken grabbed him by the elbow and dragged him out of the library.

"He's sure strong for a little guy." Tristan muttered, following suit, while Luke helped Yugi get his bag untangled from the chair.

"Come on! Everyone out of the building! Now! Right now!" Ken shouted, completely ignoring the hissing shushes from the librarians. Ken was pushing Tristan and Joey out the doors and several high schoolers were listening and following his instructions. Luke, Yugi, and Tea got out the door just as Ken managed to grab someone at random and drag them out with him. Everyone cleared the library only to be thrown to the ground as the earth shook and with a sickening crunch, a foundation under the library broke and the roof came toppling down on the building. Screams and shrieks could be heard as more people came rushing out the doors, only to narrowly miss- or for some, not miss at all- large pieces of roof and glass falling down on top of them.

Tristan let out a low whistle and Ken collapsed onto the ground, panting.

A/N: Don't you just love it when everything ties together in the end?

******************

Samantha arrived on the scene just in time to see that Kendalina's house had been demolished and that the Jedi Princess was chasing over rubble and debris to try and beat Fuuma into the ground.

"HEY! KENDA!" Sammy called, touching down on the remains of the dining room. Kendalina's head whipped around and Samantha saw the bandages slip loose to reveal one of her eyes was bright yellow, rimmed with red.

(A/N: Yes. This is important. The thing with the eyes.)

"Sammy, I REALLY don't have time, nor is my house appropriately cleaned, for visitors." She shouted, irritably. Samantha shook her head and dragged Megami over to where her other friend was standing.

"First off, Megami-chan, meet Kendalina. Kenda, this is Megami Tenno. Introductions made. Now, would you like to help us in trapping and beating-slash-killing Fuu-kun?" Samantha said, and Kendalina's mood brightened, considerably.

"THAT would be just LOVELY." She said, and went chasing after the slippery DoE as Megami and Samantha went off in separate directions.

Between Kendalina's omnyoujitsu, Megami's Drow magic, and Samantha's shamanism, Fuuma was quickly trapped and Subaru, whom had cleverly hidden so he couldn't get the shit beat out of him again, took his kekkai down.

The only thing that was still demolished was the house. Kendalina then lost her temper, and began to utterly throttle Fuuma.

Ken and his friends came home just in time to see the house completely destroyed. Samantha was holding Fuuma's arms back and tying them into a knot while shouting at him about not being an asshole, Megami had out a staple gun and an unabridged copy of 'War and Peace' and using them as her weapons to beat sense into Fuuma, and Kendalina was simply punching Fuuma in the stomach, almost certainly breaking bones.

Triclops had made it out of the house and was watching his wife with a disdainful look.

"Kendalina... there's something on this planet called 'Anger Management'... maybe you should look into it..." He said, slowly. A furry and feathered little puffball went rushing past Triclops' ankles and jumped into Ken's arms, making a noise like 'Kssssh'.

"WHAT THE...?" Joey shouted, taking a few steps back, away from the animal. Luke put a hand on Joey's shoulder to keep him from running away.

"That's Zeebo. Supposedly, he's just Ken's pet mooka, but the way Ken talks to him all the time, I almost think he's more of a familiar than a pet." Luke explained watching with amusement as Zeebo licked Ken's face. Ken was staring at the pile of rubble that had been their house.

"Typical. We're here for one week and then the house comes crashing down." He muttered. Samantha got to her feet and pulled a piece of birch wood out of her hair before she pointed it at the house and muttered something. Immediately, everything was righted and repaired, as though nothing had happened. Megami watched and then noted, as Samantha curled her hair up again into a bun and stuck the wood into it,

"Sapu-chan, you might not want to put your wand in your hair- better sorceresses than you have lost hair." She warned. Samantha puffed her bun and shrugged.

"I've been planning on getting it cut, anyway." Subaru watched all of this with mild interest as he picked up Kamui, carefully minding his ribs.

"Naa! Subaru-kun! How's Kami-chan doin' over there?" Sammy called. Subaru winced at the nickname as he lifted Kamui just an inch and the boy let out a strangled noise of pain.

"He's hurt. Badly. Why do you ask?" Subaru called, not feeling very trustful of this girl, whom somehow reminded him of his sister, Seishirou-san, Kamui, and pretty much anyone else he'd ever met. Fuuma was bad enough.

"Kenda, d'you think you could put off beating the living shit out of Fuu-kun for just a moment to go set Kami-chan's ribs? I'll finish tying his arms in a bow and be over to heal." Samantha asked, making big puppy eyes at her Jedi friend. Unneccessary, because Kendalina had beaten Fuuma enough that he was actually starting to regret making trouble in the first place, which meant Kenda was in a better mood.

"Oh... I suppose... Do you have any sedative on you?" Kendalina stood up and dusted her hands. Samantha dug in her pocket and pulled out a bottle of powder.

"Jinmi nut powder. Careful- that's pretty potent stuff." Samantha handed it over. Kendalina shrugged and climbed over Fuuma to where Kamui was.

Yugi, meanwhile, looked quite appropriately terrified at their behavior. Tea was thinking something along the lines of 'May I never get on their bad side.' Joey and Tristan were still blinking that Samantha had fixed the entire house with a piece of wood and some words.

"Megami-chan, could you take over? I've got to go help play nurse." asked, pulling out duct tape, a phone book, and Subaru's lighter from her pockets. The Drow girl raised an eyebrow.

"What, no Nerf bat?" She asked. Samantha shrugged and walked away. First Kamui, then Fuuma. She had priorities.

"You know, if you kill him, I'm turning you in..." Ah, that would be Triclops.

"Why would I kill him? Stalking him is one of my hobbies!" Megami questioned. Samantha held in a laugh- oh, how she loved her friends...

"All in favor of leaving, say 'Aye'!" Joey's voice came in. Sammy could almost see everyone raising their hands.

"Oh! But we just got here!" Ken protested. Samantha squinted at the sinking sun and actually agreed wholeheartedly with Joey.

"Well... It's late, and I think our families will have few things to say about us coming home NOW, as it is... But, we'll see you in school tomorrow." Tea interjected, and that seemed to appease everyone, because they all went home. Sammy had always known Tea was the tactful one in the group...

"Miss Ann, are you going to be okay over there?" Ken called, cradling Zeebo in his other arm, with his backpack. Sammy looked down at Kendalina, whom had set and bandaged Kamui's ribs and arm.

"Yeah. Why?" She called back. Ken shrugged, obviously ignoring Fuuma's cries of agony as Megami sat on his stomach, reloading her staple gun.

"Just in case you need help!" And Ken went back inside the house, followed closely by Luke and his father.

******************

"I still blame you for putting bleach in his shampoo."

"Aw... Sapu-chan, it was a JOKE!"

"Megami-chan, Ame told me that you lost your drivers liscence for speeding because you wanted to get the next volume of X/1999 so badly."

"But that was MANGA!"

"Either way, Kamui got his ass handed to him in less than one minute because he refused to attack 'Segawa-kun'."

"But now, maybe, if we can get Keiichi to go visit him in the hospital, maybe Kamui will break down and admit how he feels!"

"It's too early, Megami-chan."

"Well, what ELSE are we supposed to do?"

"Get Kei-kun to lose an eye protecting Kam-kun?"

"*pales*"

"And then make sure that Sei-chan doesn't interfere."

"BUT STILL..."

To Be Continued.

Ahem... sorry that Samantha's language has... worsened... at first, I didn't know if I wanted to get away with language like the word 'fuck' in this fic. Fuck. Fuckitty-fuck-fuck. Guess what I decided?

Ah... so we actually get to the PLOT... how lovely.
