Chapter 4

Sugoroku walked back to their camp, still holding his un-conscience grandson in his arms. He brought him into his tent and laid him down onto the cot. The old man tucked the young boy in, again trying to take to box away, but failed miserably. Sugoroku stood back, starring at his grandson lovingly but that stare was also mixed with confusment and worry.

'Oh Yugi…I hope you're going to be alright…whatever this box thing is…I hope it doesn't hurt him at all,' he thought. Yugi moaned in his sleep and clutched the box tighter as if his life depended on it. Sugoroku turned and walked through the flap of the tent. Yugi on the other hand stayed in a peaceful slumber.

[Later that night 'round midnight]

Yugi groggily opened his eyes. He sat up, looking around his and Ryou's tent. He looked over too see Ryou sound asleep holding something. Yugi cocked his head, but then noticed the golden item he had his hands wrapped around.

"Huh…?" Yugi queried. "What's this…it's so bright…and it golden. Looks extremely valuable." Yugi started looking allover the box, trying to find a lid of some sort. He found it and tried to yank it off. At first it wouldn't budge. Yugi ground his teeth together, losing his patience for this piece of gold. But then he gave it one final yank and it popped off. Yugi starred into the glowing hole of the box. Pieces of many shapes and sizes were glowing and all made of pure gold.

"Oh wow!! It's a puzzle! Hmm…cool better get started on it. Looks like a 3-D one too." Yugi took out each piece, laying them all over his bed.

"Well…I wonder how long this'll take. Anyway, mind as well do now considering its night and no one else is up yet." Yugi took one piece and tried to fit them together.

"Hmm…nope, this one doesn't work." He picked up another and another, "Not this one either…man this'll be harder than I thought." Then Yugi reached over to take one more and it began to glow. Yugi held it up to his face.

"Huh…this one is glowing…" The young boy then decided to see if it was the right piece to fit into the first one. It slide right in and locked into place. Then, Yugi noticed that he couldn't take it apart again.

"This is one strange puzzle…but I should finish what I started." So then for almost the rest of the night, Yugi took one piece and a time, trying to finish the treasure that he found earlier. He soon only had three pieces left to put into the puzzle of his. Yugi slowly took a piece and slide it in. Then he did the next one, sweat starting to lather on his forehead, sliding down his face, and his breathing started to shallow and get heavier.

'Why am I so exited to finish this…it's just a puzzle, right? I feel like doing it though is tiring…' Yugi picked up the last piece, his hand shaking. He slowly drew it to the slot that he would lay it in on the puzzle. As he put it in, Yugi's breath started to catch in his throat. 'I can barley breath because of this…I gota finish it…got to…finish it' Yugi said over and over in his mind. He placed it in and it was now complete. The puzzle shone brightly then started to glow.

"Huh…w-what's happening…" Yugi said shakily. A light shot out of the item at Yugi's forehead. Yugi shrieked and let go of it. The item stayed though, floating in mid air.

"W-w-what's going on…wait! What's happening!!!" The light shone so brightly that it blinded Yugi. The young boy covered his head with his arms. The light became blinding, and was slipping the young teen into darkness. Yugi screamed as the beam fully drew him into unconscious.

{~~~~~~~~~~~~~}

Sugoroku suddenly heard a scream come from his grandson's tent. He bolted upright and grabbed his pants and shirt.

'What was that!?' Sugoroku thought as he slipped one his shoes and ran to Yugi and Ryou's tent. 'Oh I just hope nothing happened to him…that thing he found earlier…is that the cause of it…?' Sugoroku thought worriedly as he got near to their tent though, he started to heard yelling going on from within it. Sugoroku flung the tent covering back to see Yugi and Ryou yelling numerous insults at each other.

'Why in the world would Yugi and Ryou be arguing…?' Sugoroku thought.

"You baka tombrobber!!! What in the world did you do!!!!" Yugi yelled at Ryou. The white haired boy just laughed.

"What did I do you Ra-be-damned pharaoh!!!?? I did a Osiris's name of NOTHING!!!" Yugi glared at him.

"Basted, you did something and you know it!!!" Yugi rated on. Then they started to shout curses at each other in a language that Sugoroku had never heard before. Then Ryou screamed something at Yugi and the tri colored haired boy fell silent. Then he ground his teeth in anger and punched the other boy. Ryou fell back, right at Sugoroku's feet. The older man finally thought it was time to say something.

"What is going on here!?" He yelled at the two people in front of him. Each one looked up to him, just noticing he was there.

"Who are you…?" Yugi asked. Sugoroku gasped inwardly as he got a better look at his grandson now. The boy's eyes were not the plentiful pure violet that Sugoroku all to well knew, instead they were a blood red and narrowed. His hair still had the same tri colorness, but the bangs that usually stayed over Yugi's face was shooting up like lightning along the maroon and jet blackness of his hair. His grandson was also taller then before and his skin a deep bronze. Ryou's skin also had the same bronze sheen on it. His hair was still white but now they stuck up like devil horns, and his hair was also longer and spikier.

"Well…" Sugoroku started. "I am Yugi's grandfather. You are neither Yugi…nor you Ryou. So let me ask you two a question, where the hell is my grandson and his friend!!" Sugoroku said bluntly. The look a like of Yugi starred at him for a second then put his hand up to his chin.

"Well…if you grandson is the one who completed the puzzle…then I should say that he is fine." Sugoroku glared at him.

"So where is he then!?" The man asked. The other two just shook their heads.

"Well…" Ryou started. "They should be sleeping I guess. We just took over their bodies by accident of course." Yugi nodded in agreement.

"What the tomb-robber is trying to say is your grandson is not hurt at all." Sugoroku nodded, finally trusting these two a little bit more.

"So…what are your names. And what about all this 'tomb-robber' and 'pharaoh' stuff anyway?" Sugoroku asked. The one who looked like Yugi laughed.

"Heh, oh I'll tell you later. For now I'll tell you my name. It's Yami. And the one you see as Ryou is Bakura" Yami said. "The other things, well before I was sealed into the millennium puzzle, I was the pharaoh who ruled over Egypt. Remember the tomb you entered to get these items?" Sugoroku nodded in response. "That was my tomb. Though my body isn't there, it's still mine." Sugoroku starred at him in disbelief.

"Y-you're a pharaoh…?! But the one that had the tomb that no one could get in. Nameless Pharaoh…that's who you are!??" Sugoroku gawked at this man standing before him. Yami put a hand behind his head.

"Um…yeah, but please it's been 3,000 years since I've been called pharaoh, exempting Bakura because he will always call me that. Yami if fine for me." Sugoroku nodded, still in shock that he actually met a pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Bakura snorted in disgust.

"Whooo, go pharaoh. Now you're going to make the old man gawk to death!" Yami turned to him.

"Oh shut it tomb-robber! Oh, allow me to introduce my friend. This is Bakura as you already know and he is a tomb-robber. Or was as I hope you changed." Bakura sneered at the pharaoh.

"Baka pharaoh!" He muttered. Sugoroku cocked his head,

"So, you two were sealed in those items 3,000 years ago…?" Yami nodded.

"Yes. The one around Bakura's neck is the Millennium Ring. The one me and now you grandson poses is the Millennium Puzzle." Sugoroku looked at Yami's closely.

"Strange, you got a golden box, not an upside down pyramid?" Yami laughed at the old mans remark.

"Inside the box were pieces to a puzzle that Yugi put together earlier. Then my soul was awoken. So you see, it's not really that complicated." Sugoroku just shook his head in confusement.

"You know what. I'll just leave you be. Just promise me this, you will tell the boys about yourselves and don't you dare hurt either of them. You got that!?" Sugoroku asked Yami and Bakura. Yami waved a hand.

"We have no intention of hurting your grandson or his friend, right Bakura?" Bakura shrugged,

"No, we won't. I won't do anything ok. Happy pharaoh!?" Yami nodded. Then the ring around Bakura's neck started to glow and he changed back to Ryou. His hair fell back down and his skin color changed from it's tan to pale. Yami caught him and laid him on hi cot. The spirit turned back to Sugoroku.

"Don't worry, he is just asleep. I shall be seeing you soon my friend." At that the puzzle glowed. Yami's bangs fell back and his eyes changed to Yugi's large violet ones. Sugoroku caught him and laid him on his cot and tucked him in. Sugoroku turned off the light and walked out of the tent.

Not to long afterwards, Yugi awoke to darkness. It's was still dark outside. The young teen sat up, rubbing his forehead.

"Ugh…what just happened. My head hurts." Yugi then looked down at the puzzle dangling around his neck.

"Hmm…wonder haw this got here?" Yugi asked himself. He cradled the puzzle in his hands.

'This thing is so weird…man I wonder what happened when I completed it' Yugi thought.

//Ya know…for someone who is supposed to sane, you talk to yourself quite a lot// Yugi jumped and whipped around.

"W-w-who s-said that!?" Yugi whimpered.

//Oh sorry, didn't mean to scare you!// Yugi looked around and around him for where the voice was coming from.

"Who are you!!! Come out!!" Yugi shrieked.

//Ok, ok!! Sorry Yugi…I'm coming…one second here…// The puzzle started to glow. Yugi let out a squeak as brightened like before. But instead of going into darkness, Yugi saw a figure appear before him. Yugi starred at the man in front of him. He smiled.

"Ya know, you gawk quite a lot. Looks funny. Soooo…how shall I start this…" The taller Yugi stated. "Well first off, names. I'm Yami and you are Yugi. Ok that's done, I'm the spirit of the puzzle. And-" Yugi suddenly cut him off.

"You live in this!!!" Yugi yelled holding up the puzzle. Yami nodded. Then Yugi started to smile.

"So that means I'll always be able to talk to someone…at all times!?" Yugi asked. Yami nodded, going over and sitting on the bed.

"If that is what you want, then yes." Yami answered, leaning back onto the cot. Yugi sat down cross-legged next to him.

"How do we talk if you are in the puzzle or wherever you go, when you're not out here?" Yugi asked his new partner.

//Through mind link like I was doing before and am doing now// Yami said, his mouth not moving at all.

/So…like this. You can here me right?/ Yugi asked. Yami nodded.

//Yup, there you go. It's not that hard, you'll get used to it after a while// Yami sighed closing his eyes. Yugi smiled and laid down next to him so he was eye level with his Yami.

"Will you stay…?" Yugi asked Yami quietly. Yami cracked one eye and turned toward him.

"Oh course…why do you ask Aibou…?" Yugi cocked his head.

"Aibou?" He questioned the nickname that Yami had now given him. Yami chuckled.

"Yes, Aibou suites you well little one." Yugi giggled.

"I have none for you except for Yami. But yami means dark, and you are my dark now ne?" Yugi asked. Yami brushed a bang out of Yugi's face and smiled.

"Hai Aibou hikari. Ne, you be my light as well?" Yugi nodded.

"Hai, of course. Yami, thank you." Yugi whispered, snuggling into Yami's chest. Yami eyes widened at Yugi's action, but wrapped his arms around the small boy's head and back, drawing him close. Yugi smiled slightly.

'Why does this feel so familiar…' Yugi thought as he laid in Yami's arms.

"You welcome my dear hikari. I will never let you go." Yami murmured quietly stroking his aibou's head. "For as long as I can, I will never leave you…"
