Chapter One: One, Two, Yami's Coming for You…

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

The storm raged outside, a hurricane was brewing. Lightning streaked the sky and the face of Yami appeared behind a tree as he stared out watching his beloved Yugi with Anzu.

It's him. The one my heart longs for. My precious angel…my dear Hikari…

Then he watches as Anzu and Yugi embrace with a kiss before she departs and walks down the street towards her home. With a content smile, Yugi walks inside closing the door behind him. Yami's eyes lingered on the door for a moment longer before they switch over to Anzu to watch her walk down the street. But what he sees is quite a disturbance. Honda had emerged, and was embracing Anzu against him, kissing her passionately as she stroked the back of his head. Yami was enraged. How dare she betray his beloved Yugi! He had always thought something was not quite trustworthy about Anzu, and now he knew the truth. And it filled him with rage and hatred towards the two. He would make them pay for betraying the friendship that Yugi had entrusted with them. Yami gazed despissingly at them a moment longer before heading to Yugi's home to rest for the night.

When he walked through the door, he felt the small one's arms around his waist. He looked down and gently stroked the youth's hair.

"Hello Yugi. How are you this evening?" He asked him softly.

Yugi looked up at him with a warm smile that suddenly melted away. "Yami I need your help."

"What is it Hikari?"

"Well, the thing is…I…I…I think I have feelings for someone else other then Anzu."

Yami's eyes lit up hopefully, but the youth did not notice. "Who is the one you think you have feelings for?"

"Jonouchi… I have had these feelings for quite a while now." Yami was disappointed, but was happy that he could go on to someone else who wouldn't betray him.

"So why don't you tell Jonouchi how you feel? You know he's the same way as you."

"But the thing is…He's with Seto."

Yami was enraged once more. Why did fate have to turn against this young innocent? Was he not worthy of the same love that Yami possessed for him from someone else he cared for?

Yami held his Hikari close and stroked his hair, showing he was there to comfort him in his time of need.

Yugi responded by crying gently beside him, wrapping his arms tighter around his waist, as he buried his face into the ex-Pharaohs stomach.

Why did I have to fall in love with someone like him? Oh as I hold him right now and stroke his soft, silky hair, how I long even more to be with him. To share more then just our mind and soul. For us to be one with the other. I want him to be mine, and mine alone…

Yami forced back his hopeless thoughts as he held the smaller boy closer to him, whispering some soothing words to him as he gently tried to calm the boy's sorrows. Then the thought plagued him whether he should tell Yugi about Anzu and Honda.

"Yugi…there's something I need to tell you."

Yugi yawned, "Can it wait till tomorrow? I'm very tired right now. Sorry, I know you are here for me, but right now I want to think this over." He wiped the last of his tears away from his pale cheeks.

Yami just nodded his head in agreement and bit his tongue. He hesitantly returned to the Millennium Puzzle to rest for the night…and prepare for the day ahead.

***

The next morning, Yami awoke and stretched, before returning to the physical world. As he entered he saw Yugi before him preparing breakfast.

Yugi smiled gently at his dear guardian of the puzzle.

"Hey sleepy head. About time you got up."

Yami chuckled softly at the voice's innocence, before taking a seat at the table. "So Yugi, how did you sleep last night?"

"Great. I actually figured out some stuff." He said as he grabbed a chair and desperately tried to reach something on the shelf.

The Pharaoh walked up beside the youth and reached up with ease to grab the item Yugi was struggling to snatch and handed it to him. Yugi smiled his thanks and went back to cooking.

"So what did you figure out young one?" Yami asked cautiously.

"Well I figured out about my situation I talked to you about last night."

"And that would be?" He urged his Hikari on.

"It's…I think I'm better off with Anzu. At least she has feelings for me the same way I have feelings for her."

"Yugi…there's something you need to know."

Yugi looked curiously at the older one. "What do you mean, you have something to tell me?"

But before Yami could reply, the sound of the door opening and shutting caught their attention as Bakura entered. "Hello Yugi. How are you today? Good morning isn't it?"

"Hello Bakura, how are you?" Yugi dipped his head as signal for `I'm fine'. Yami just nodded at the other one.

Bakura returned the gesture and took a seat, looking over at Yami, then back at Yugi. "So what have you two been up to?"

"Just this and that." Came Yugi's reply. Yami just shrugged.

A faint glimmer of discomfort shone in the English boy's eyes for a second, but all too soon disappeared before Yami could read into it. He leaned back and seemed to be studying something, a smile on his face. Yami, unknown to Bakura, followed his gaze and his eyes widened at the discovery of what he was observing.

Bakura was watching Yugi, who was moving around by the counter and stove, grabbing certain objects here and there before continuing to cook the food warming on the stove. The aroma lingered in the air, sending both of the young men's stomachs into anticipation. In the corner of his eye he not only saw Bakura with a smile, but now he had even some sort of…loving gaze?

Then, it hit him. He was not the only one who had feelings for the young tri-colored boy. Bakura cared for him as well. It was so clear in his smile and the mushy gaze penetrating his brown orbs. Yami clenched his fist under the table, enraged with this new discovery. Before Yami's head could concoct any vicious thoughts against the ring holder, Yugi turned to send them a wide, happy smile.

"I hope you two are hungry. Breakfast's ready."

The two turned, Bakura just smiling with a slight nod while Yami had begun to drool, bowing his head enthusiastically. He had forgotten to eat dinner the night before, for his mind had been on a certain `someone'.

All throughout breakfast, an unusual cloud of uncertain actions and thoughts floated in the air. Or at least it seemed so to Yami. Bakura and Yugi chatted casually, taking breaks in between chewing and swallowing the terrific food the young one had made. Yami couldn't understand at first how a guy could cook so well, but after spending more time in the new era, he had slowly come to understand these certain things. One being that you didn't have to be attracted to the opposite sex.

After they were done eating and placed the dirty dishes in the sink, the young teens bolted out the door energetically to do some shopping and window browsing for the day. Yami walked slowly behind the two but kept a close eye on his unaware Hikari, who was politely talking to Bakura, whom had attempted in a discreet way to flirt with Yugi. A tiny sweatdrop popped up on the back of Yami's head.

The young fool apparently doesn't know the proper art of seduction… Hiding it carefully, he smirked evilly.

Throughout the day, Yami could not help but burn with fury at the sight of Bakura associating and flirting with the one he loved. During lunch as he controlled his urge to stand up and shout at the young boy, his evil conscience lurking in his unsorted mind concocted an evil plan to solve his little problem. It would also help Yugi in the long run. At the end of the day, after he had bid the youth good night and returned to the puzzle, he smirked happily as his plan for the week ahead ran through his mind.
