Chapter 1


Setting: Industrial Illusions building, San Francisco.
Maximilian Pegasus, the creator of Duel Monsters, sat anxiously in his seat in his empty office.
He was afraid something would happen to him, and he hoped that Yugi and his friends arrived
before it was too late. "Please come soon...." he muttered.
Just then, Pegasus saw someone's shadow.
Pegasus turned around.....and saw Mai Valentine, a former Duelist Kingdom and Battle City finalist, at the window.
"Thank God, it's you Mai....." He knew Mai had been one of Yugi's companions.
But this time was very different. Mai was not the same girl that she was with Yugi and company.
She had an evil glare in her eyes.
"Oh no.....please don't...."

Meanwhile, a young girl, about the age of 18, named Miyaki Yumishisa, was sitting on a bench
in a park not too far from the Industrial Illusions building. SHe was contemplating how
she met Pegasus and how her life changed....
"Do you remember?......"
She remembered the day she met Pegasus. It was a rainy day. She ran through the rain, looking
for a new place to call home. Since her family died, she felt alone....
"On that day....."
Rain-doused as she was, she still ran from place to place, hoping to get out fo the rain.
That is when she ran into Pegasus. When she saw him, she realized she had never laid eyes on
anyone so beautiful in her life.
"When I met you...."
He had also never seen a girl so lovely before, despite her rain-soaked appearance. "Who are
you, and what's a pretty girl like you doing in the rain?" "My name is Miyaki Yumishisa. I'm
lost and I need a place to call home." He said, "I am Maximilian Pegasus. And I'd do anything
for a beautiful girl like you."
".....my life changed.....forever."
Inside the Industrial Illusions building, Pegasus told Miyaki, "You are just so beautiful....
you're just like....Cecilia." "Cecilia?" Miyaki asked. Pegasus said, "Yes. She was the first
love of my life, but something went horribly wrong when we married. She slowly died. I was
determined to bring her back, one way or another, but I soon lost hope.....It's kind of a long
story, but now I feel like I can start over anew."
"I hope you remember....."

Just then, she saw a green beacon light up the sky, and heard a scream....a scream that belonged
to the only love in her life. "No! Maximilian!" She ran to the Industrial Illusions building.
She stopped for a second, and had a vision of Pegasus losing to Mai in an Orichalcos duel.
"I must hurry!" She ran faster, but when she reached Pegasus' office, it was already too late.
Since this was Miyaki's dream, Mai was gone. Pegasus lay on the ground, unconscious, next to his soul
card that was left when he lost the Orichalcos duel. Miyaki walked to the soul card, crouched
down, and held it. It showed a picture of Pegasus, appearing frightened. Tears filled Miyaki's
eyes. "My love....who would do this to you?" A teardrop fell on the card. Pegasus, who could not
speak because he was soulless, did not say a word. However, a tear flowed down his cheek.
