~ Chapter Four: What a Cat Can Do ~
~ Two Weeks Later… ~
Jou was nervously tugging a comb through his messy, blonde hair as his father entered his room.
"Hello Katsuya," Mr Jonouchi greeted, "where are you off to in such a hurry?"
"Yugi invited me and the others to the Moon Festival," Jou answered. "Dad, have you seen my brown sweatshirt?"
Mr Jonouchi picked up the sweatshirt, and threw it over to his son. "So, when will you be back?"
"Yugi says that the fireworks are gonna be the best Domino has ever seen, so I'm gonna stay and see them, if that's okay with you Dad." Jou pouted at his father. "Please, Dad? Please?"
Mr Jonouchi relented, and Jou hugged him.
"Thanks Pops."
"Who's in charge of the fireworks this year?" Jou's dad asked, looking mildly interested.
"Oh yeah, Industrial Illusions will be sponsoring the fireworks. Also, the owner's designed some wicked cool ones too."
"Like?"
Jou counted off of his fingers. "Uhh… Duel monsters, regular fireworks, and the grand finale is the best! Although no one knows about it."
Jou's father laughed. "Well, that certainly sounds interesting, Katsuya. Go ahead then."
Mr Jonouchi sighed as his son ran off. Boys will be boys, he thought. For himself, however, the Moon Festival held too many painful memories. True, he had met Jou's mother there, but that was also where they broke up and divorced. Around eleven years had passed since the divorce, and now Jou couldn't remember his mother or his little sister. "Happy Moon Festival," he whispered out to the open sky, before going inside towards the warmth. "Happy Moon Festival Serenity and May."
~ Domino Pond, 4:59 PM or is it 5:01 PM? ~
Jou grinned triumphantly at Yugi and Seto, who were sitting on a bench. "Hey guys, I'm actually early a minute!"
Seto shook his head. "You're actually a minute late, Jou, as well as everyone else except Yugi and I."
"Damn, how'd that happen?"
Yugi pointed at the tower clock above the pond. "That clock is exactly one minute and five seconds faster than everyone else, actually Seto. So Jou is early."
Seto rolled his eyes, and nuzzled Yugi's neck, smiling at the soft moans that were coming from his koi.
"Y'know guys, I'd appreciate it if you guys could do that somewhere else," Bakura said, smirking in greeting at Yugi, Seto and Jou. Ryou held Bakura's hand, grinning at his friends.
"Most of us are here," he said, looking around, "but where's Malik, Marik, and Yami?"
"Marik and I are right here Ryou." Malik appeared from behind Ryou, grinning from ear to ear. Marik appeared from behind Bakura.
"I knew you were following us!" Bakura cried, punching Marik lightly on the arm.
"Yeah right Bakura, just like you knew that I snuck that ransom note into your locker, ne?" Yami smirked at a ticked off Bakura, and quietly whispered: "I'm going to surprise Jou."
"Boo, Katsuya," Yami said, ruffling his secret crush's hair. However, in the process, Jou accidentally fell on top of Yami in surprise, and both of them fell down on the ground on top of each other.
Seto covered Yugi's eyes in mock disgust. "Really Yami, Jou, you should know better!"
Yugi laughed softly, kissing Seto's chin. "It really doesn't matter Seto," he commented, "I've had a hands on experience on that."
Marik tsked at Seto. "Really, Seto."
Yami and Jou both got up, blushing red. Bakura winked at Ryou, and Ryou nodded back.
"Okay guys," he announced, stretching. "Since the sky won't be dark for another few hours, I propose we split up, and meet at Hikari's Hill, around nine."
Jou winced. "That late?"
Yugi grinned. "No worries, I've already called your father. He says that it's okay for you to stay later."
"All right then," Malik said, striking a victory pose. "Let's split up in couples, all right?"
Two by two everyone set off for different parts of the festival, until Yami and Jou were left.
"Well," Jou said, blushing, "I'll erm… go that way." He made for the game attraction, when he felt Yami grip his wrist, pulling him back.
"Hey Jou?" Yami asked, facing the teen. "I have a confession to make." His crimson eyes locked with Jou's brown one's, and he smiled. "I love you Katsuya. Aishiteru."
Jou could have laughed with joy, and that's exactly what he did. "I love you too Yami," he said, and he kissed Yami innocently.
Yami mentally smiled as he tasted Jou's sweet taste, and pulled Jou into a more passionate one. Jou curled his fingers in Yami's soft, yet spiky, hair, moaning into the kiss. They broke apart, and Yami took Jou's hand in his.
"Well, Katsuya," he purred, "where would you like to go?"
****************
Seto smiled gently as he watched his koi bounce around the miscellaneous stores.
"This is so cool, Seto!" Yugi cried, tugging Seto to a pet store. "They're so cute!"
Seto ruffled Yugi's hair, and knelt down so he was looking directly at Yugi. "Hey, koi, wait outside really fast, okay?"
Yugi nodded.
Seto quickly entered the pet store, heading straight for the kitten section. It couldn't be, he thought to himself, could it? Could it actually be that kitten? He stopped in front of a brown cat with large, purple, innocent eyes. "It is!" He whispered to himself, picking the kitten up. "Hello there," he said, stroking the kitten's furry head, "remember me?"
Yugi held onto Seto's hand as Seto led him towards a bench they could sit on. "Come on Seto, did you find something?"
Seto sat Yugi down on a bench, and placed something soft in his lap. "Open your eyes now Yugi," he said lightly, a wide grin on his face as Yugi beamed at the kitten on his lap.
"Oh, thank you Seto! Thank you so much!" Yugi hugged Seto, placing a soft kiss on his lips.
Seto grinned again, and said to Yugi: "look closer, koi."
Recognition dawned on the younger boy's face as the kitten curled up between him and Seto. "Is it him, Seto?" Yugi asked, stroking the kitten's head, "is it?"
Seto hugged Yugi. "Positive koi."
Yugi laughed. "Hello little guy, Seto and I never got to thank you for what you did."
~ Flashback ~
Yugi sighed as he adjusted the straps on his backpack for the third time today. "Grandpa just had to get me that huge backpack, that, even though it carries everything without problem, it is EXTREMELY large." He groaned as it slipped down, the straps digging painfully into his elbow joints. "Malik and Jou were right, a satchel is one hundred percent better than this."
He gazed out onto the road, and suddenly stopped in horror. A brown kitten was sitting in the middle of the road, and a red sports car(1) was approaching fast. "Watch out!" he called to the cat, as he ran out into the road. Yugi could only stare in shock as the car came closer and closer towards him.
Just then a tall teen ran into the road, and scooped Yugi and the cat up. He ran onto the sidewalk just in time as the car sped by, honking loudly. "Damn driver," he muttered, and then he looked down. Yugi was unconscious, probably from shock. Seto shook his head, and spotted the cat sneaking away. "Oh no you don't," he muttered, picking up the yowling cat. "If the kid dies then I'm taking you to the funeral and explaining that you killed him."
The cat stared up at Seto, with large, pitiful eyes. "Meow," she contradicted. Like anyone will believe that I killed him.
Seto set the cat in Yugi's arms, smiling softly at how beautiful the boy he was carrying looked. "I'd better take you back to my place, it's not that far away."
***************************
"Hey big bro!" Mokuba, Seto's younger brother, called from the entrance to his mansion. "Yami just called! He says that he's coming over in an hour to duel you, okay?"
Seto almost dropped Yugi. "No Mokuba!" he said, hurrying over to his little brother. "Tell Yami that I have a business meeting today, and I won't be here."
"But you and Richie have the exact same business meetings, won't Yami get suspicious? They do live together, after all."
"Just tell him it's a Kaiba Corp meeting."
Mokuba peered at Yugi. "Who's he, Seto?"
Seto shook his head. "I'll tell you later Mokuba. Right now he needs help."
"Should I call the hospital?"
"That won't be necessary; I can take care of him." Seto handed the cat to Mokuba. "Make sure this one doesn't get away."
Seto lay Yugi down on his bed, and rummaged around in his room for a wet towel. He gently wiped Yugi's face with it, studying the boy's delicate features. He's so beautiful; I hope he's not dead.
As if on cue, Yugi stirred and opened his eyes, coming face-to-face with Seto. Yugi blushed, and averted his gaze away from Seto's piercing one.
Seto pulled Yugi's face upward, entranced by the lavender color. Yugi shifted uncomfortably, his eyes looking down. "Please," Seto said, stroking Yugi's blonde bangs, "I wish for you to look at me."
Yugi hesitantly looked into Seto's eyes, and were instantly pulled towards them. They were so blue; it felt as if he was drowning in them. So serious and mysterious…
"What's your name young one?"
"Y-Yugi," Yugi stammered out, unaware that they were drawing closer and closer together. Until their lips touched together into a heated kiss.
"I-I'm sorry!" Yugi suddenly blurted out, pushing away from Seto.
"Why, Yugi?" Seto asked, startled that he had kissed the boy. That's why Marik calls me the semi in any couple.
Yugi shook his head, trying to stand up. "I shouldn't be here, my grandfather, he might get worried if I'm not back home by now…" His head started throbbing from the aftermath of the shock. "Besides, you're in Yami's group, and I'm not," he stated flatly, as Seto laid him back in his bed. "I do hope I'm not imposing on you or anything…"
Seto smiled softly, and stroked Yugi's cheek. "Of course not. And I don't really care about any damn group or title. I apologize for that kiss," he added, squeezing his hands together tightly like a small child who was being scolded.
Yugi lay in Seto's bed, pondering his words. To tell the truth, Yugi had actually enjoyed the kiss, and a part of him wanted more of it. "Where's the cat?" he asked, looking around the room.
"Mokuba, my little brother, is taking care of him right now."
Yugi found himself cuddling up to Seto, and was instantly more relaxed and soothed. "I'd like to keep him."
Seto marveled at how well Yugi fit in his lap, and began stroking his hair. "It's technically not allowed unless you are approved by a vet or someone who deals with pets," he replied. "But if you want, I can take him to a pound or something, and see if anyone owns him."
"And if no one comes to claim him?"
"Then he's yours."
Seeing the sad look on Yugi's face, Seto began to tickle him. Yugi laughed softly as Seto's hands roamed around his body, and his stomach gave a lurching sensation when Seto's hands began to travel south. "Seto?"
Seto quickly withdrew his hands, and glanced apologetically at Yugi. "Gomen."
Yugi grinned, and pulled Seto into a kiss. "And if I can't keep the kitten, may I at least keep you?"
Seto growled dominantly, and kissed Yugi back. "More like I'll keep you, koi. Now let's see what we can do about the cat."
Yugi moaned softly as Seto mischievously brushed a hand over his covered length. "But first, I'd like to get to know you better…"
~ End Flashback ~
"And to think that if it weren't for this little troublemaker, we'd never have gotten together," Seto laughed, stroking Yugi's hair fondly. "What should we call her?"
"Hikari," Yugi instantly replied, "because her fur is just like your hair Seto, and you are my light."
"And you are too, Yugi," Seto returned, kissing the tip of Yugi's nose. Hikari mewed softly, and Seto laughed. "Of course, can't forget about our other Hikari, can we?"
Hikari mewed again, and as Seto and Yugi picked her up and left to explore other bazaars, one could have sworn she winked.

(1) The same car that killed Yusuke Urameshi, remember?
millenniumspirit: Go Hikari!
Bakura: *rolls eyes* And the point of this chapter was?
millenniumspirit: I decided to add how Yugi and Seto became a couple.
Bakura: So, what's next?
Millenniumspirit: I'm actually going off my story plot, and this fic will be a romance fic with a lot of medium lengthed chapters. The Moon Festival section will probably take up five chapters. And then there's the part when everything becomes angsty…
Ryou: So check back for the next chapter! And please review!
