Chapter Six: You people are so not reviewing. Meanies.
Late night. A hand on the latch of her window. The hand jiggles it, but it seems to be stuck. The hand retracts, and a body moves into view, the face held carefully in shadow. Male. He pries the works with something-crowbar, fork, toothpick, something-and opens it, sliding in as fluidly as if he were not human but beast. And perhaps he was. A woman, standing by her bed. Long white-blonde hair, piercing and strange amber eyes. The intruder takes no notice-or perhaps he does not see her. He only has eyes for the sleeping figure in the four poster bed before him, and he slowly, methodically, almost lovingly leans over her, his fingers brushing briefly across the bare skin of her arm before moving back to a utility belt around his waist. The woman in the corner shifts uneasily, and moves to stop him but her hands pass through him…through him…Several long, scary razors hang on the belt, and he takes his time choosing the longest one. He turns back to the sleeping figure. And smiles. And raises the knife…
"Mina!"
Seto shot up in bed, breathing like he just ran a marathon. He lifted a hand to his forehead and frowned, closing his eyes briefly before throwing off the covers and standing.
"I need to stop. This needs to stop. Nobody's after her or you, relax," he reassured himself, finally calming down enough to think rationally. "This is so stupid." But he walked out the door anyway, careful not to make a noise as he made his way down the hall to Mina's room.
Strange amber eyes…
Her door was slightly ajar, a thin sliver of moonlight pouring through the crack. Seto carefully slid three fingers into the doorway, other hand pressing on the hinges so the door wouldn't squeak. He didn't want to wake her.
Through him…through him…
He stepped slowly inside the room, letting his eyes adjust to the slightly darker interior. The hallways did have lights, after all.
The intruder takes no notice-
You must help her.
The voice filled his head everywhere at once, and he jumped in a startled surprise.
"Wh-"
You must not wake her. Help her. Hurry.
Seto frowned and shook his head. He did not understand. And then, suddenly flickering in and out, was an image of a tall, elegant woman. Transparent as glass, her white-blonde hair falling to the floor and in her golden eyes. She gestured towards the bed, but somehow she was unable to get closer to Mina. Every time she tried she disappeared completely.
Who are you?
Help her. You must. All will be revealed in due time.
Seto forced his legs into working, and he evenly stepped to the foot of Mina's bed. She was sleeping fitfully, eyes held tightly shut and her jaw clenched, every muscle in her willowy body tense. Tossing and turning, tossing and turning…
THE KNIFE. Seto caught sight of it but it was a second too late-

"Seto?"
"Don't move. Don't breathe. Don't-even-blink."
She was trembling. Blue eyes were half awake, but somehow snapped so when she noticed the knife dangling precariously on the canopy by a thread. The more she tossed and turned, the more it swung, and would eventually have fallen and hit her…
He was bent over her, one knee on the bed unsteadily and hands spread and bracing his body.
"Oh God Seto…you…you have to move…" Mina whispered, and he gave an irritated grunt.
"I won't let you be hurt. No. Now be quiet for a minute while I figure some way out of this…"
She was surprised by the harsh tone in his voice, but she couldn't stop the sudden cough that racked her figure and sent the knife plummeting-

The Mastermind never stayed to watch his implanted mayhem unfold. He was, after all, a mastermind. He would have killed her as she slept if not for the footsteps he heard-the ones in Seto's room. So he instead quickly slung the knife directly above her abdomen on the canopy, knowing that in the course of the night she would do herself in.
However he paused once on the lawn-his back to the house, his hands in his pockets-to listen for the scream. It came as he knew it would, and he moved on.

The knife was falling, and it seemed to be doing so in slow motion. Moving quickly, Seto jerked Mina backwards out of the way, and the only damage done was a pair of ripped shirtsleeves.
They held each other as if they would never let go, as if nothing but them was solid and real and existed.
"Are you alright?" He whispered gently, bending to her eye level, tilting her face towards him with two hands on either of her cheeks.
"Yeah. You?" She replied, and he relaxed, allowing himself the luxury of breathing again.
"Yes…"
They both looked at the razor embedded in the mattress, and someone (probably Mina, heh) squeaked in a nauseous manner. Seto shook his head and turned her head away from the bed.
"Don't," he said softly, resting his forehead on hers.
"Don't what?"
"Don't try to imagine what might have happened."
Silence. She gave a slow nod and they left the room.
Sitting perched on the windowsill sat a lone figure. She had long white-blonde hair, amazing eyes, and a smile.
