Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Altered Destinies ❯ Chapter 8: Battle of the Blondes ( Chapter 8 )

[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]

This is my first attempt at a Yu-Gi-Oh fanfiction so please be kind in your reviews, if you review. I might not have many of the characters in character. On another note I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh and never will. I don't know whom it is that owns Yu-Gi-Oh and besides giving these unknown parties credit for making such a kickass manga/anime, I don't really care. Also, I don't have any money right now so, no one can benefit at all when it comes to suing me.

I came up with this idea when I read a couple of stories that I have read on fanfiction.net. One was recently taken off for some reason but it had been a good story. The other focused on the series if Yugi had been born a girl. I decided to take my shot at this kind of story but using Seto Kaiba. I will only mention this once so pay attention.

/Backslash/ - a conversation between a person and their spirit. i.e.: Yugi to Yami and vice versa.

//Double Backslash// - the person is thinking.

-Altered Destinies, Chapter 8-

Jounouchi opened the double doors leading to the arena where the second duel of Duelist Kingdom's finals would begin. He had to go searching for his entry card, which had mysteriously disappear on him. "Well, look who's back," the bandana-wearing Bandit Keith said. "He is going to give us the news that he can't find his entry card."

"Here's my entry card," the teen replied holding up his Gold award card.

//Impossible.// Keith thought shocked at seeing the card. //I'm using his card. No matter, I can pay him back for that beating he gave me last night.// "Well this was a surprise. I thought you were going to hide."

"Don't get ahead of yourself," Jou said. "I plan to pay you back for trapping me and my friends in that cave."

"The second match of the Duelist Kingdom finals will be on its way," Pegasus' attendant said. "Bandit Keith vs. Jounouchi Katsuya. Let the duel commence."

"I'll start first," Keith said. "I play Scythe Machine in attack mode." A flying machine with a bladed pendulum appears on the field (6/1750/2000.)

"A machine monster," Yugi said. /This could be bad./

/I couldn't agree with you anymore aibou./ The Other Yugi said. /Machines are known for their high defense and attack strength. In terms of sheer power, only dragon sub-types beat them out./

/There is something else./ Yugi said. /But what is it?/

"I'll play Melee Warrior Ultimater in defense," Jounouchi said as the monster he used to beet Keith before appeared with its guard up.

"I'll destroy warrior. Go Scythe Machine and slice up his monster," Keith's monster grabbed Jounouchi's monster and buried its blade into the blue warrior.

"All right," Jou said with confidence of the card he just drew. "I play Magic Warrior Giltia in attack. Now send his monster to the scrap yard with your soul spear." Jounouchi's monster appeared on the field (5/1850/1500) and fired a beam of magic at Keith robot.

"All right," Anzu said. "Jounouchi's got the lead."

"I'm still wondering why he started off with a machine monster," Yugi said as the attack connects but nothing happens. "That's why."

"What gives," the teen boy asked. "Your monster should be scrap by now."

"My machine is impervious to magic attacks dweeb," Keith answered. "Their metal surface deflects all magic attack away."

"That's why he played a machine monster," Yugi said. "They are immune to all Magic-User cards and any attack that uses magic."

"Now I will play my next monster. The heavily armed TM-1 Launcher Spider," a four-legged spider-like machine monster with missile turrent appeared ready to attack (6/2200/2500.)

"More machines," Anzu said as Keith's monster destroy Giltia in one swoop (K: 2000 J: 1650.) "Keith's has to be full of them. We can't get an easy break."

/She's right there. Bandit Keith is using a Machine Deck without a doubt./ Dark Yugi said. /Black Magician would be useless and our deck focuses around that card./

"I set this monster in face-down defense mode," Jounouchi said as he placed his card down. "Then I'll set one more card face down."

//I can't get to his life points if he keeps setting monsters in defense.// Keith thought as he drew his next card. //Though I can deck him out eventually. I don't have the time.// "I'll set one card face down and this in def-," the adult's card slipped out of his hand and hit the playing field awkwardly. A static image of a demon-like monster appears then disappears as Bandit Keith picked it back up. "Forget what you just saw. Anyways, this is summoned in face-down defense." Keith played the same monster he just dropped.

//That wasn't a machine monster.// Jounouchi thought. //It was Devilzoa, a demon sub-type. My Flame Swordsman can easily toast him. But first, I have to power him up.// "I play Flame Swordsman in attack and equip him with Salamandra." Jounouchi's monster gained a power boost from the magic card (attack: 2500.) "Attack his face down monster." A flaming dragon shot out of the sword and went straight to Keith's monster, which is revealed to be Devilzoa (7/2600/1900.)

//He fell right into Keith's trap.// Yugi thought. //A strong monster like Devilzoa is never used for defense.//

"My trap card activates," Keith flipped his face down card. "Metal Conversion - Magi Reflex Armor. This trap card turns Devilzoa into Metal Devilzoa and forces it into attack mode."

"What," Jou yelled out as Devilzoa gets covered in metallic plate (8/3000/2300) and counters the Flame Swordsman's attack (K: 2000 J: 1150.)

"That was priceless," Keith said as he drew his card. "Say goodbye to your defense monster, but it won't be in defense for much longer as I play Seal Defense." Jounouchi's monster has revealed itself to be Axe Raider (4/1700/1150.) "Axe Raider huh, well goodbye. Metal Devilzoa attack his monster now."

"If that monster attacks, it all over for Jounouchi," Yugi said as Keith's monster charged Axe Raider. As it got near, Metal Devilzoa disappeared.

"WHAT?" Keith yelled. "Where'd my monster go?"

"All right," Jounouchi said. "My trap card worked."

"Yes," Yugi cried, "the Pitfall trap card. Not only does it destroy Keith's monster, but also 25% of its attack strength is taken from Keith's life points (K: 1250 J: 1150.) Not only that, but Jou might have figured out the weakness to that Machine Deck. Machines have a high offense so you can't go toe-to-toe without a strong dragon, but they can only handle a head on assault. Jounouchi is letting his traps do the work."

"I'll place this card which is a trap so don't bother attacking," Jounouchi said.

"You haven't won this duel yet Jou," Anzu whispered. "So don't get ahead of yourself."

/Smart bluff by telling the truth./ Dark Yugi told his host body. /Keith won't believe that and fall right into it./

"Now I summon Garzas to destroy that Scythe Machine," Jounouchi's reptile slashed the enemy to pieces (K: 1200 J: 1150.) "Then I'll switch Axe Raider back to defense."

"That's got to be the lousiest bluff I've ever heard," Keith accused. "Launcher Spider, destroy his Garzas." TM-1 Launcher Spider let loose a volley of missiles at Jounouchi's monster and seemingly destroys it. "I knew it wasn't a trap."

"Guess again," Jou said. "You didn't heed my warning and now it is time to pay the price. My Chained Boomerang activates. It immobilizes your monster and increases my monster by 500 attack points (attack 2300.) Now destroy his machine." Garzas slashes through Launcher Spider with its new weapon (K: 1100 J: 1150.) "Take that Bandit Keith and I set this face down," Jounouchi said giving the adult the bird.

Growling, Bandit Keith threw down his next card. "It's time for my bigger machines, Revolver Dragon destroy his two face up with your Russian Roulette ability. I have to flip three coins and if two or more come up heads, I can destroy up to two of your monsters," Keith takes the three coins and flips them. Once the results were revealed, Keith smirked, "Yes, two heads. Say good bye to Garzas and Axe Raider." The Revolver Dragon fire three energy blasts and Jounouchi's two face-up cards (K: 1100 J: 850.) "I'll set this face down."

Jounouchi drew his next card. "Time to put that soon to be rust bucket out," he said. "I reveal my Time Magician and summon Baby Dragon to the field." A small, orange dragon appeared alongside the small clock. "Now you have to worry about this baby growing up and your monster rusting up. Go Time Roulette." The spinner on Time Magician's staff started up and seconds turned into minutes as the spinner started to slow down. When it was over, it had landed on the time warp. "Yeah, go Time Magician." Time sped up as a Jou's dragon increased in size and strength (7/2400/2000) and Keith's monster corroded (1800/1400.) "Now Millennium Dragon, destroy his Revolver Dragon." Keith's monster was destroyed, but when the smoke cleared a huge machine had taken its place.

"What is that," Anzu asked curiously.

"Big trouble," Yugi answered. "That's the Time Machine trap card."

"Your even dorkier friend is correct," Keith said as the door opened up. "This trap card goes back one turn and retrieves my monster, preventing any damage that I should've taken." Revolver Dragon stepped back out (2600/2200.)

"Oh man," the blonde moaned. "It's his Revolver Dragon, and it's brand new." Jou's dragon was destroyed in the counter attack (K: 1100 J: 650.)

"I knew you were going to use Time Magician so I had Time Machine ready. Now your dragon is gone and will stay gone unless you had a Time Machine trap card, but then, only Baby Dragon showed up."

//He's right.// Jou thought about the blonde adult's statement. //The wording on how Millennium Dragon is summoned makes it so that I can't revive it and since Millennium Dragon didn't show up until this turn, I be getting the pre-aging version.// "I'll set this in defense."

"Keep setting them up and I'll just tear them down," Keith orders his monster to destroy Jou's monster, which was revealed to be Demon Hunter. "After I am done with you, your friend Yugi is next."

"Yeah right," the brown-eyed boy said.

"What," Keith asked.

"You heard me Keith," Jounouchi said. "Even if you beat me, which you won't. Yugi would cream you. Why, because you're selfish and arrogant. We have too much at stake to lose to the likes of you and even Kaiba found that out three months ago."

"Oh yeah," Keith said. "Kaiba was beaten by a lucky draw on Yugi's part. I'll blow your good intentions away right here as I summon my Slot Machine AM-1." A monster that looked like it belong in a Vegas Casino rather than a Duel Monsters arena showed up (6/2000/2300.) Jounouchi kept setting up monster in defense only for them to be destroyed. "I summon Megatron in defense (defense 2000.)"

Jounouchi draws the card that he just needed. "My good intentions are paying off. I'll set this face down and play my Red Eyes Black Dragon in attack." A black dragon took to the sky as Jounouchi summoned his monster (7/2400/2000.)

"Jou's best card," Anzu commented.

"Yeah," Yugi said concerned. "But as of right now, Revolver Dragon is stronger."

"That monster is no match," Keith replied. "Revolver Dragon attack." Keith's monster fired.

"You fell right into my trap," Jounouchi said as flipped his face down card. "Mirrored Illusions. This card copies and card that you have played and I think I'll go for Metal Conversion. Red Eyes Black Dragon becomes Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon (8/2800/2400.)" The metallic armor that once covered Keith's Devilzoa now covered Jou's dragon. The attack bounced off of Red Eyes and the new machine monster to the field blast Revolver Dragon away (K: 900 J: 650.)

"All right then," Keith growled. "I'll set this card face down and change Slot Machine to defense."

//Doesn't matter what mode that monster is in, it can't stand up to my dragon.// Jou thought as he drew a card. "Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon, attack his slot machine."

"You just activated my trap," Keith said as he flipped over his magic card. "7 Card." The middle slot turned into a 7, much to the audience's confusion and Red Eyes attack bounced off. "This magic card raises the attack or defense of my monster by 700. My Slot Machine AM-1 now has 3000 defense points."

"Since his monster's defense is higher, I lose my life points," Jounouchi said at the revelation (K: 900 J: 450.) "I'll set this face down."

"I have two more 7 Cards waiting in my deck," Keith said as he drew his next card. His right hand slips by a wristband a quickly pulls out a card without any one noticing, or so he thought.

"Just because you have them doesn't mean that you will draw them," Jounouchi said unaware of the move Keith just pulled.

//I'm not to worried about that you fool cause I just have to reach in my wristbands to get one.//

/Aibou./ Other Yugi called out to his partner. /Keith just pulled a card out from his wristband./

/Huh./ Yugi said. /That's cheating. You're supposed to only use the cards in your deck, no where else./

/Yes, but Keith hid his hands behind plain sight so we don't have much evidence./ The taller boy said. /Even Pegasus would be hard press to prove it publicly unless he has a camera watching./

"I would guess again about drawing those cards," Keith said. "Here's my second 7 Card and I'll use it for the Slot Machine's attack, then I summon Sphere Bomb. This monster attaches to your dragon and explodes on your next turn when you start it, doing 2900 points of damage to your dragon."

//OH NO, my dragon's a goner.// Jou thought as he drew his card. The very second he saw the description of the card he played it just as Sphere Bomb explodes, filling the arena with holographic smoke. When it is all settled, Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon was still standing and with 3400 attack points to Keith's shock and to Yugi and Anzu's relief. "Yes, I played Dark Dragon Claws just in time. This Equipment Magic Card increased my monster's attack by 600."

"Now my life points go down," Bandit Keith said (K: 400 J: 450.) "No problem since you used up your attack for the round anyway. I draw." Keith once again snuck a card out of his wristband when he thought no one noticed. "Well look right here. My third 7 Card and I'll switch my Slot Machine back into attack position." Slot Machine stood up, ready to attack. "Since both of our monsters attack strengths are equal, I'll play Bandit."

"Nice name for a card, it suits you," Jounouchi joked.

"Laugh it up as this card let's me see your entire hand and choose a card for me to use, now reveal your hand," Jounouchi did as told and Keith notice a particular card that can help him. "Perfect, I want your Shield in Right Hand and Sword in Left Hand and I'll use it right away." The two monsters switch attack strength with defense strength and Keith's Slot Machine attacks the weaker dragon. As the smoke clears out as Bandit Keith gloated his victory, he saw a purple goblin-like monster holding a familiar trap card in it's hands. "He had a Grave Digger trap card. It has brought back my Time Machine trap card. Oh no."

"Yep, my dragon's back and with its 3400 attack strength returned instead of the 2400 because of the magic card you used," Jou said reveling in Bandit Keith's expression and the dragon returned. "Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon, destroy Slot Machine AM-1 and the rest of his life points." Keith could only watch on as his monster loses (K: 0 J: 450.)

"The rookie actually beat me," Keith said in surprise. //I'll get my revenge on Pegasus no matter what. I'll just force him to give up the prize money.//

-To Be Continued-

I got two chapters in one weekend. It's been a while since I did that. On a few notes, Millennium Dragon can probably be revived but the way it is summoned suggests that it can't. In the manga on the night before the finals began, Keith snuck into Jounouchi's room, but I'm sure you already knew that, and took Jou's card. When he snuck out of the room, Yugi spotted him leaving his friend's room. Keith took the initiative to beat up Yugi, but he made enough noise to wake Jounouchi up, which in turn, drops Bandit Keith to the floor. In the previous duel and this one, I have no mention of Honda being there. He will show up in the next chapter that at least leads up to Yugi vs. Pegasus. It doesn't necessarily start the duel. This chapter's feature card is one that both Keith and Jounouchi used to convert an organic monster of theirs into a machine monster. It doesn't happen automatically in the real card game like it does in the manga.

Metal Conversion - Magic Reflex Armor
Type: Normal Trap
Spell Speed: 2
Effects: When this card is activated, it becomes an equipment card attached to a monster. Increase equipped monster's attack and defense strengths by 300. When equipped monster attacks, increase its attack strength by half of the base attack strength of the opposing monster. If used to summon Metal Devilzoa or Red Eyes Black Metal Dragon, the monster to be summoned HAS TO BE IN YOUR DECK, NOT HAND.
