Yu-Gi-Oh! Fan Fiction ❯ Alternate Kingdom ❯ Chapter 6 ( Chapter 6 )
Alternate Kingdom
Disclaimer: Fine. I'll admit it. I don't own Yu-gi-oh! There are you happy now?
Ok next chapter of the story is here. Enjoy reading and tell me what you think afterwards.
One little note- I'm taking a lot of liberties with the Duelist Kingdom episodes and in particular in this chapter with Bakura. The truth is I don't know if he has his memories of his ancient past in this season. So this is my little fantasy of Bakura, psychotic tendencies included. Enjoy.
Chapter 6
The sun was setting for the day when the four managed to make camp in the woods near the cliffs. Of course it was hard to make camp when they had no tent, no food, or even a sleeping bag. Joey by some miracle had managed to set his foot on fire so they had light, but Yugi couldn't help but shiver with the sinking feeling that the shadows were closing in. They had been sitting on rocks, staring at the fire while Joey went through every food he could think of which tasted better than the bark Tristan insisted they eat.
"I have to go back." Yugi declared, still gazing at the fire.
"But what about Mokuba's message to Seto?" Tea asked, looking concerned.
"It will take too long. Mokuba's in danger now. And I can't even say that Seto is still alive. Mokuba said they came to his house determined to kill him if he was there. Maybe they found him." Yugi said with a shudder, horrified to think of his uncle as a killer.
"Why don't we wait till morning? I work best after a full breakfast at breaking into castles." Joey suggested.
"You dolt." Tea yelled, whacking him over the head. "If we have nothing for dinner you think breakfast will magically appear?"
"Tea's right Joey. Besides if we sneak into the castle maybe we can steal breakfast along with Mokuba." Tristan declared.
"But wait." Yugi said nervously, unsure of the direction this was going. "If you guys come with me to save Mokuba you could get in trouble. You would lose your chance to duel in the tournament." There was a silence for a second, when both Tristan and Tea turned to look at Joey. He was the one dueling, it was his prize, his sister on the line. Smiling he shook his head.
"For a decent breakfast I'll risk anything."
"Thank you Joey." Yugi said beaming.
"Hey no problem Yug'." Joey shrugged. Tea then let out a shriek as the bushes behind them rustled, and parted to make way for a shadowy figure with a shiny golden light swinging across his chest.

There were advantages about being dead. For one thing, no one bothered you to sign memos or listen to their bleeding heart plea for a raise. In fact, no one spoke to you at all. The peace and quiet was wonderful. So why had he designed a chatty computer with an attitude?
"I don't have time for your petty squabbling," Seto Kaiba growled at the machine, "Now just do what I say and show me the security grid of Pegasus's compound."
"Why should I?" the computer shot back, "You leave me alone all this time and expect me to obey your every wish now? I don't think so Kaiba. Not without an apology."
One button on the control panel seemed to light up and sparkle before Seto's eyes. Auto-destruct. Such a beautiful word. His pale fingers reached out to touch the button, hovering over the words. Then an image of Mokuba in pain, and Pegasus chuckling flashed through his mind. He couldn't do this. He had a bigger idiot to defeat.
"Look machine. I built you. I can turn you off. And today I've just been tossed out a window and left for dead so you'll excuse my lack of manners towards a computing device." Kaiba said slowly, venom dripping out of every word.
"Fine, fine, whatever. Well while you were off learning to fly Pegasus took your brother and started his new tournament." The computer said.
"And now he wants to control my company. Is there anything useful you can tell me or should I try talking to my toaster instead?" Seto growled.
"There you go with the insults again. I have plenty of useful knowledge if you would ever listen to me." The computer remarked.
"Fine. Let's hear it." Kaiba spat out but then the computer screen changed. Where before there had been a picture of his little brother and an aerial shot of Pegasus's island, it was replaced with a video image of Maximillion Pegasus, creepier than life.
"Hello Kaiba-boy. What a disappointment to see you alive." He enthused.
"Actually Pegasus I'm dead. Can't you tell? You killed me." Seto spat out, glaring at the screen.
"Oh don't give me false hope Kaiba-kun. My poor heart can't take it." Pegasus said dramatically, holding his chest.
"Quit the theatrics Pegasus. I want my brother back, now." Seto demanded.
"Mokuba? But he's having such a wonderful time with me. Are you sure you need him back?" Pegasus asked, then pouted when Kaiba growled at him. "Fine be a spoil sport Seto. But if you want your brother back you'll have to come here and duel for him."
"Me duel you?" Kaiba asked with a laugh.
"You wouldn't last 5 seconds against my ultimate dragon."
"Oh I wouldn't dream of fighting you and your big bad dragons Kaiba-kun. I want you to duel him." Pegasus enthused, as a picture appeared on the bottom half of the screen. A small child with wide amethyst eyes and wild spiky maroon, gold, and black hair smiled sweetly at him. Seto stared in disbelief at the image before him. The child looked about 8 at best and as innocent as they come. How on Earth had he gotten mixed up with Pegasus?
"Who is he?" Seto finally asked.
"Why your opponent of course. Yugi Motou. And he's also my ward." Pegasus replied with a small wave before disconnecting.
"Pegasus has a son?" Seto asked in disbelief.
"That's a new one for me." His computer responded, back again.
"I don't have time for you now. Send one of my remote-control helicopters to the back of the property. I have a duel to win." Seto ordered before grabbing his briefcase and heading outside. Being dead did have its advantages. But Seto Kaiba would not let a little thing like death stop him from maintaining his title as Duel Monsters Champ. Not death, or Pegasus, or even some spiky haired 8 year old could keep him from being the best.

Tea started screaming the moment she saw the creepy shadow. "It's a ghost. Kill it, kill it." She cried, jumping into Tristan's arms. Of course Tristan was unprepared for the event of a beautiful brunette jumping into his arms and fell over as a result, taking everything he was carrying in his arms too. Joey stood still and scratched his head, forehead creased in thought.
"Tea, if it's a ghost it's already dead. You can't kill it."
Yugi however, watched the shadow. The light projecting from its chest seemed familiar somehow, and the small duelist took a step forward to try to make sense of his feelings.
"Would you like to play a game of fate little boy?"

Bakura loved creating misery. Modern day humans seemed too cheery for their own good. Everywhere the snowy-haired boy went, he saw friends, couples, and families enjoying life. It sickened him. What gave them the right to be happy? And why should he be so miserable? Every night he dreamt of blood, every day he heard screams echoing in his head. The only time he was at peace was when someone else was screaming. Pain became a habit for him, something he inflicted as often as he breathed. But he wasn't a sadist. Far from it.
Everything he did, he did for his vessel. Ryou was the one human he could actually tolerate. The boy understood pain and lost like no other pathetic mortal he had met so far. It made him angry to think of all the losers who had hurt the boy in the past. No longer. Ryou would be safe from the world and all its pathetic cheery mortals. Bakura had promised himself that he would keep this boy safe, no matter the cost. There was only one way that the spirit could think of to do this. He needed power, more than his golden ring could supply. He would have to collect all seven millennium objects. Then he could control the world. The first thing he would do would be to destroy the school. Ra only knows how his landlord could sit through an entire day of class without using a man-eater card to devour his teacher.
Tonight he was feeling lucky. His ring had alerted him to more of the millennium items and he had followed some of Ryou's classmates onboard a ship which led him to an island. It was then that he realized he was on an island full of duelists. Fools the lot of them. In their decks they held so much power, and they wasted it by dueling for plastic star chips? Walking victims, Bakura decided, with souls just waiting to be taken. It didn't take long for the spirit to choose his victim. This one didn't even have a dueling glove, or any star chips. No, it was the golden pyramid around his neck that drew him near. That was a far better prize. And all for Ryou.
"Would you like to play a game of fate little boy?"

Mokuba was tired of waiting. He had paced around in his prison for more than long enough. He had the utmost trust in his big brother and Yugi, but how long was he supposed to sit and wait?
"I feel like a storybook damsel in distress, waiting in the tower for my prince to come and save me." Mokuba said glumly to the door. "Those girls must have been floozies if they just sat there waiting. Why didn't they rescue themselves? Why don't I rescue myself?"
Mokuba looked around the room, and spotted the means to his escape: several sheets and an open window. Before he knew it, he was out the window and halfway down the tower. He was going to save himself before Yugi ever got to his brother. Maybe this time, he would save Seto instead. The raven-haired youth had to take a big leap before he got to the ground, and freedom. As he let go of the sheet, Mokuba felt himself drop into someone's waiting arms. Closing his eyes with a groan, he wished away his company.
"Hello kid." His company didn't get the clue. "Pegasus wants a word with you."
Mokuba opened his eyes to glare at the suit holding him. He hoped that somehow he managed to channel some of his big brother's intimidating look into the stare. "I don't want anything to do with Pegasus. Release me- I was going for a walk."
The man merely sneered at him and started walking back inside. "You'll like this chat, brat. Master Pegasus is concerned about your stay here. He wants to give you some better accommodations. Always the considerate host."
Mokuba felt a shudder run through him at the man's words, he definitely didn't like the sound of them. The door to the castle closed behind the two with a final sounding slam. It had been built strong, to cater to the whims of Pegasus. With the door firmly closed, it kept the loud cheering from the duels outside the castle. And with the door shut, it kept the painful screams of a young boy echoing inside…
Tbc…
Oh, I'm awful. I'm in a very happy mood, and I make all my characters completely miserable. Well I'll try to leave someone happy next chapter- or at least alive- I think I can promise that I won't kill off all the characters by the next chapter but don't hold me to that. Anyways, next chapter Pegasus goes looking for his nephew, and Mai decides to give Yugi a second chance, along with his cute blond brother a second look…So that's it for now. Gotta go work on my other story.
