Chapter 5

Bakura walked ungracefully down the hallway, his wings a bit scruffy, his hair a bit of a mess. He'd been beaten up by other angels, luckily, Erik had been there and ran off to tell one of their professors. Bakura couldn't blame them for wanting to beat on him, he was, after all a perfect target. He was rather prone to accidents, and had scrapes and bruises enough to prove that this stage of development wasn't being so kind to him. The only thing that wasn't clumsy about him was his calligraphy, it was long, curving and elegant scripture. "Hey, Bakura, are ya heading home for winter break next week?", Erik asked.

"Yeah, I promise Ryou I would, what about you?", Bakura asked.

"Yeah, I am, my folks got the two weeks off for vacation at Cloud Nine.", Erik remarked, "Where they wait on everyone hand and foot I've heard.",

"Sounds fun, I already sent Ryou a letter telling him when my plane's supposed to land.", Bakura told Erik.

"Really? Well, I hope he remembers. Are you gonna study for the mid- term exams over break?", Erik asked.

"Um... No, I already have studied for it.", Bakura replied.

"Okay, then see you later Erik.", Bakura waved cheerfully heading to his last class before it would be time to pack.

Ryou was waiting patiently for Bakura's return, he hadn't seen him, and he knew already about the hour- glass that made Bakura age faster. What he wasn't suspecting was the bruised, scraped- kneed, gangly kid that came off the plane. "Ryou!", Bakura smiled widely, walking over to him.

"Hey, Bakura.", Ryou greeted, hugging tightly onto Bakura, "Let's get your baggage and head home okay?",

"Right.", Bakura replied.

So, they headed back to Ryou's. Ryou finding really how much Bakura had really grown. "I've started to shed down.",

"Oh really? Just means you'll be taking flight lessons soon, right?", Ryou asked.

"Yeah, those start after break. What's been happening here?", Bakura asked.

"Nothing much, Yami hasn't hatched yet, but Yugi keeps trying.", Ryou replied.

"Right.", Bakura replied.

So, the two spent the rest of the night catching up, Ryou hugging Bakura close to his side... Soon, however, Bakura fell asleep, exhausted from his long trip. So, Ryou took him upstairs to sleep off the journey and started dinner.
