ZL Chan: *hugs* glad you liked Journey to Heaven. I'm sorry about the staggered updates.I was going through a lot of personal crud and I needed time to focus on that. But now things are a little calmer and the concentration is a little better. You know how it is.
Emeraldisles: Hayden won't return to that sweet little boy…at least not that I have planned, but these guys do tend to pull fast ones on me.
Shadow Of Light: Yeah, I know all about life getting in the way at times. It's rough, I know…but whatever doesn't kill us, makes us stronger.
Draza: Oh, Vera will get hers back. I'm glad you had fun on vacation. I wish I was still on vacation.
*pout*

Failed Alliance

Seto stepped out of KaibaCorp and looked around the dark streets. Along the street he saw a group of teenagers wandering. Women in short skirts and halter tops were strolling the streets and standing on the corners.
Alex stood beside Seto. “Seto, what are you doing out here?”
“Joey isn't home yet. And I'm worried.”
Alex looked around. “He hasn't come home yet?”
“No,” Seto sighed as he looked around.
Kendall stepped out of the building. “Mr. Kaiba? Are you okay?”
“Joey hasn't come home yet,” Seto said, descending the steps.
Kendall stepped in Seto's way. “Are you seriously thinking of roaming the streets of Domino? At night? Alone? Without protection? Sir, it's not safe for you to be out on the streets at night and with no protection.”
Alex put his hand on Seto's shoulder. “Seto, it's not a good idea that you go out there in the middle of the night with no protection.”
“Joey is out here. I can't just let him wander the streets so late at night either.”
Alex turned to Kendall. “I'm going with Seto to look for Joey. You can go home.”
“Is that wise?” Kendall reached to his side and checked the pistol on his hip. “Well, I think I should go with you…just as a precaution.”
Seto looked at the tall African American standing in front of him. “Are you sure?”
Kendall nodded. “Yes, sir. Your safety is my job, after all.”
“Very well. Alex, are you sure you--?”
“Seto, I think you know me well enough now to know that your safety is my concern…on or off the clock.”
Seto gave Alex a pat on the shoulder. “Are you armed?”
Alex looked at his side and checked the barrel of his pistol for bullets. “Betsy still has a few plugs in her, Seto.”
“Kendall?”
“I'm loaded to the teeth, sir. I gots my gat and caps all ready.”
Seto walked down the steps and looked both ways down the street. “Joey can't be far away. If he thinks Hayden is still around here, he'll remain in this area. Kendall, you check to the right and report back here.”
“Yes, sir.”
The tall man ran off.
“Seto, I'm sure Joey is okay,” Alex said with concern.
“Alex, I love him. I don't want anything to happen to him. With the dangers of the streets and those damn Crusaders hanging around, we can't take any chances. I…..Alex…..I don't want anything to happen to Joey.”
Alex pat Seto's shoulders. “Joey lived on the streets before coming to live with us, Seto. If anyone knows how to defend himself in a street situation, it's Joey.”
“The streets are much more dangerous than they were twenty years ago, Alex. Besides, if those Crusader bastards get their hands on Joey, he's a dead man. They know he's married to me.”
Seto looked down the street. “JOEY!”
Nobody responded from down the street.
“I don't like this, Alex. It's not like Joey to fight me like he did. I don't know what's going to happen.”
Alex looked around the streets. “Joey's attached to the lad. You can't blame him for caring for the boy.”
“I don't blame him, Alex. I doubt he took someone with him. These streets are dangerous.”
Kendall returned and shook his head. “No sign of Master Joey, sir.”
“Damn it,” Seto growled. “Follow me.”
Seto walked down the street, Alex and Kendall following closely and with their hands on their pistols. “Joey! Joey, can you hear me?!”
“What about the bars? Should we check them in case Joey ran into one?”
Seto looked above and saw the sign for “The Black Pit Inn.” He had a bad feeling about that place that he couldn't explain.
“Kendall, go check inside.”
Alex and Seto waited in the shadows for the tall African to return.
“I wonder how far Joey went,” Alex said.
Seto looked around the dark alley where they were hiding. “Joey? Are you in here?”
Only the sound of crickets responded.
“Joey…..please come out.”
Seto lowered his head. Joey was not in this alley.
“Oh, Joey……where can you be?”
Kendall left the bar and shook his head. “He's not in there, Mr. Kaiba.”
“Shit. Okay. We'll keep looking.”
Seto lead Kendall and Alex to the next alley where they only found a sleeping homeless woman and squeaking rats.
“Joey knows the alleys very well. He lived in the alleys to get away from his father. I just hope I can find him soon.”
Seto passed one alley and saw a black figure standing in the shadows. “Joey?”
“Seto?” Joey's quiet voice responded.
Seto ran towards the voice. “Joey, I'm here, puppy!”
The figure stepped out of the shadows at the last second.
“Yami!” Seto gasped as the pharaoh caught his wrist.
Kendall and Alex drew their guns and the pharaoh laughed. “Fools!”
Yami raised his hands and both men let out a scream as their firearms became too hot to handle. The pharaoh raised his hands and the two men were picked up into the air.
“Yami, stop this!”
“As you wish…..High Priest.”
The pharaoh whipped his hand to the right and Kendall and Alex were slammed against the brick wall of the alley.
Both collapsed to the ground in a heap.
“You bastard!” Seto growled. “Why did you do that?”
Yami chuckled. “So this is what the great Seto Kaiba uses for protection? You brought an old man with you for protection? Seth, I think you should reconsider your choice of guard. An old man as your guard? Pathetic.”
“Let go of me!” Seto growled. “My name is Seto! S-E-T-O!”
Yami chuckled. “You still deny your past. You deny who you are still?”
“I was not a High Priest!”
“I know you are feeling it, Seto. You are dreaming. Your dreams are haunted by your past life. I have also felt the dreams…..And I promise not to be defeated this time by the tomb robber's daughter and her bastard brother.”
Seto narrowed his eyes. “You are insane! I don't dream of the past!”
Yami leaned closer to him. “The look of fear in your eyes betrays you. You have indeed dreamed about the past. Aria was your wife and Lover. You fathered children by her. I took her life. And I will do so again.”
Seto growled and went to punch Yami, but the pharaoh caught his other wrist. “You stay away from Aria!”
Yami smiled. “The past will repeat itself, Seto. You will find Aria harder to resist.”
“I am not going to sleep with Aria! The thought of sleeping with the daughter of my best friend is sickening! Leave it up to you to think like that!”
Yami grinned. “I know there is more to your relationship with Ryou that meets the eye.”
“What are you talking about? Are you accusing me of sleeping with Ryou?”
“If the shoe fits, High Priest…..”
“You son of a bitch! How can you accuse me of sleeping with him?”
Yami grinned. “You wanted to sleep with Ryou.”
Seto tugged, trying to free himself from Yami's grip. “Yes, I wanted to.”
“Does Joey know of your desires for Ryou's flesh?”
“Yes, he does, and that is none of your damn business!”
“Careful, High Priest.”
Seto tugged angrily at his arm. “What do you want from me?”
“Your help. I need you to help me destroy those who would oppose me.”
Seto growled. “Nobody trusts you anymore, Yami! I wouldn't hurt Aria and Aten, no matter what you threatened to do to me.”
Yami grinned. “What about Joey?”
“What do you mean?”
“His many years of heavy drinking will catch up with him, Seto. The seeds of his father's passion will eat Joey away from the inside. And I….have the power to accelerate his death…or prolong his life.”
“You leave Joey alone!”
Yami leaned into Seto. “Why should I? If I let Joey die this moment, you are free to go over to Ryou right now and screw his brains out all night long or for the rest of your life.”
“Joey matters more to me than anyone else!”
“You lie.”
“No, I don't!”
“You wish you had Ryou right here. You want him with you all the time. You would love nothing more than to pound his ass until you pass out.”
Seto tugged violently. “Yami! Stop this! Let me go!”
“I can kill Joey, Seto.”
Seto stopped moving and his eyes widened. “You….you wouldn't dare.”
“I would.”
Seto looked deep into the purple eyes looking at him. “Keep your hands off of Joey.”
“I don't have to lay a hand on him to kill him.”
“Don't kill Joey.”
“Join me.”
Seto shook his head. “I can't help you kill. I love those kids and I won't hurt Ryou like that.”
Yami released Seto. “Fine, High Priest. I have ways of getting what I want. You will join me in the final battle. I guarantee it.”
Yami stepped over the fallen bodies of Seto's guards and disappeared from the alley. “Seto will join me,” he growled. “I know he will.”
Seto ran to Kendall and Alex. “Damn it.” Seto removed his cell phone from his pocket and dialed Donny.
“Donny….get over to the alley at 1237 Halberd Lane. Yami attacked Alex and Kendall….yes, I'm okay, Don. Just hurry up.”
“Hayden?!”
Seto's head snapped up as he saw Joey wandering down the street on his return from his search.
“Joey!”
Joey turned. “Seto?!”
Joey ran across the street and Seto brought him into his arms.
“Puppy, where were you? I was worried sick!”
Joey sobbed. “I couldn't find him! Hayden's gone again! He was so close! If I had just one moment with him, I could have convinced him to stay home with us! I could have told him that what happened with his uncle was not his fault. I could….I could….I could have him back with us!”
Seto held his lover against him. Seto kissed Joey's cheek. “Puppy, please don't leave me! I was so worried about you! I was so afraid that something had happened to you!”
The blond held onto Seto tightly as a rumble of thunder rippled overhead.
********************************
Yami scowled as he stood in front of the Game Shop. “I wonder what my Light is up to.”
The pharaoh looked into the window and saw Glenn and Yugi sitting on the ground with the coffee table between them.
Yugi picked up a card and placed a card on the dueling mat. “I summon my `Celtic Guardian' in attack mode and I arm him with the `Sword of Deep Seated.'”
Glenn squealed. “Yeah, the Celtic Guardian may actually win this battle!”
Yugi laughed. “I attack your monster and it's all over!”
Glenn chuckled and threw up his hands. “You got me.”
Yugi stood up and leaned over the table to kiss Glenn. Glenn moaned and smiled into the kiss. The taller man stood up and picked Yugi up. Glenn laid Yugi on the couch and settled between Yugi's legs.
“You got me again, Yugi,” Glenn smiled.
Yugi smiled up at his partner. “Love you, Glenn.”
Yami growled as he watched Glenn kiss Yugi's neck softly. “I'll get you back, Yugi. When I defeat those kids, I will eliminate Glenn. Then we will be together again.” Yami stepped back from the window. “I wonder how my servant is doing.”
The pharaoh walked toward the Ishtar-Itemri home. Bakura was sitting beside Ryou on the couch. The yami went to put his arm around Ryou. The hikari stood up casually and walked away.
Bakura sat back on the couch with a heavy sigh and lowered his head.
Yami chuckled. “Come out here, Ryou….Come to me.”
Ryou slowly walked out of the kitchen.
“Ryou, where are you going?” Malik asked.
“Outside.”
Ryou shut the door behind him. “Yes….master.”
Yami grinned as Ryou stood in front of him. The hikari's long white hair fell around his shoulders.
Ryou looked up at Yami with large brown eyes. “Master….”
Yami reached up and pat Ryou's cheek. “How are you like being my slave?”
Ryou leaned against Yami with a grin. “I….I love it.”
“Ryou, is Aria still here?”
Ryou nodded. “Yes, she is. And she is pregnant.”
Yami's eyes narrowed. “Pregnant?! The prophecy is coming more true every day! I must get my hands on Aria and give her the same type of death as I did so long ago.”
“My daughter still lives here,” Ryou said in a monotone voice. “She still is protected by the family. She will be moving out…getting her own place by the waterfront.”
Yami grinned. “Oh, really. What about your son?”
“Aten lives with Robbie at Miranda's house.”
Yami bit his lip and leaned against the house. “How is your son's heart?”
Ryou turned from Yami and looked down the street towards Miranda's house. “He is sick still.”
“If the prophecy is being fulfilled, then I am running out of time. I can't wait for nature to take its course with Aten. Something drastic must be done soon….or even he will stand in my way of ultimate power.”
“I can help you get rid of him.”
Yami grinned and kissed Ryou on the lips. “Good boy. I know you will help me. We will make our move tomorrow. In the meantime, I had better go check on him. I must assess how sick he has become since our last encounter.”
Ryou nodded. “He's at Miranda's home.”
Yami grinned. “Perfect. Return inside, Ryou. I will handle this.”
Ryou returned inside the home as Yami walked to Robbie's.
Yami narrowed his eyes as he looked in the windows. Daniel and Miranda had fallen asleep on the couch.
“Where is Aten?”
Yami walked around the side of the house and looked up at Aten and Robbie's bedroom window. The lights were out in the room.
Yami turned and saw lights coming from the backyard. He looked inside Aten's Studio.
Aten was organizing his paintings for the art show. Yami narrowed his eyes as he saw Robbie pounce on Aten from behind.
Aten squealed and staggered forward as Robbie wrapped his arms around him.
“This will not do.”
Robbie kissed Aten's cheek and hugged him tightly.
“Robbie, we have to pack!” Aten laughed.
The other teen smiled. “Just playing around.”
Robbie hopped off of Aten's back. The Egyptian grabbed Robbie and pulled him into a hot kiss. Yami walked around the other side of the Studio and watched the two kissing teens by the window. Yami watched as Aten unbuttoned Robbie's shirt. The Egyptian kissed down Robbie's chest. Robbie let out a moan as Aten's tongue licked his bare chest.
Robbie took Aten's face in his hands and kissed his husband deeply. The Eyptian maneuvered himself and sat on the couch. Robbie kneeled between Aten's legs and pulled Aten's shirt over his head.
Aten giggled. “Robbie.”
The blue-eyed boy kissed down his husband's body slowly, taking care to touch and caress his lover.
The pharaoh grinned. “If I'm going to succeed, I have to find out what will make you melt in my hand, Aten.”
Robbie kissed Aten's belly button and kissed lower, opening the front of Aten's pants with shaking, anticipatory hands.
Aten stroked Robbie's cheek and ran his fingers through the curly black hair.
The pharaoh watched Robbie slip Aten's pants down.
Aten moaned and shivered as his body was exposed to the air. “Robbie…I….we….I have to…pack….for the art…..ex….exhibit.”
Robbie grinned. “We're just taking a little break.”
A tiny lick at the tip of his arousal made Aten moan.
“Robbie….I….”
Aten was cut off by a warm heat surrounding his length. “Robbie!”
The pharaoh growled and ran his hand over his chest. He watched Robbie slowly swallow around his husband.
Yami watched a flash of pain cross Aten's face. The teen's eyes clenched tightly and his body trembled.
The pharaoh grinned as the look of pain on Aten's face only fueled his enjoyment.
“Robbie…..”
Robbie opened his eyes and saw the hardening flesh become limp slowly. The teen removed his husband from his lips. Robbie looked up and saw Aten go pale. “Shh…..Aten…it's okay.”
Robbie crawled up to Aten and rested his head on Aten's chest where the Egyptian's heart beat unsteadily.
Robbie wrapped his arms around Aten. “When do you see Chapman next?”
Aten held Robbie close. “Tomorrow.”
Robbie looked up at Aten with large blue eyes. “Aten, maybe you should talk to Chapman about this.”
Aten sniffled. “I did….but nothing seems to work.”
“Maybe you need to see Zira. He needs to check you out.”
The Egyptian kissed Robbie's ear. “I'm scared.”
Robbie nuzzled his cheek against Aten's chest. “I'll go with you if you want. I'll go with you to Zira's like I always do. If you need me in the examining room, I'll be there in a flash.”
Aten brushed away his own tear. “Promise?”
Robbie kissed the trail the tear had made. “I promise, love.”
Yami rolled his eyes. “Great. Now they killed the mood. I was quite enjoying myself.”
Robbie kissed Aten's chest. “I will always be here for you, Aten.”
Aten's eyes filled up and he buried his face in Robbie's curly locks. “Thank you,” he whispered, and kissed Robbie's head. The Egyptian smiled and held his husband and friend close.
“Everything is going to be okay, Aten. I promise you,” Robbie said.
