No Forgiveness

Robbie laid in bed looking up at the ceiling, thinking about his fight with his husband. He sighed sadly as he blamed himself. `I shouldn't have been so insistent. It's wasn't right of me to press the issue.'
Robbie looked over at the clock. “Midnight. Where is he? Aten's always home by now. He doesn't like being outside at night if he can help it.”
The teen rose out of bed and slipped his boxers on. He wrapped his bathrobe around himself and walked downstairs.
He opened the door and stepped out into the night looking down the street both ways. “ATEN?!”
The wind blew through Robbie's curly black hair. The teen walked around to the backyard, expecting to find Aten looking up at the stars, humming violin sonatas to himself.
No one was sitting on the bench in the back.
The wind rustled the bushes behind him, then he heard a snap of a twig. He quickly turned around.
“Aten?!”
Aria stepped out of the bushes. Her eyes glowing red and her hair spiked angrily.
Robbie swallowed hard and stepped back from her. “Umm…Aria?”
Aria advanced on the teen. “Hello, Robert.”
The teen continued to back away as Aria continued to step towards him. “Aria, why are you looking at me like that?” His eyes widened at the blood stains on her dress. “Aria….umm…whose blood is that?”
Aria narrowed her eyes and gripped Robbie by the collar of his bathrobe. She held him close to her body and snarled. “You hurt my brother!”
“Aria, we just had a fight! I didn't mean to fight with him!”
Aria snarled at him viciously. “How dare you! He was upset and you hurt him! What do you think I should do about this, Robert Allen Morgan-Ishtar?”
Robbie breathed heavily in the girl's grip. “I came out here to find Aten and apologize to him! I really did!”
The yami girl grinned as she felt Robbie trembling in her grasp. “Do I scare you, Robbie?”
Robbie swallowed hard and nodded.
“I scare you in my yami form, don't I?”
“Y-Yes.”
The girl cocked her head to the side. “And why is that?” Aria picked him slightly off of the ground. “Why don't you like me this way?”
Robbie dropped his cane and held onto Aria's wrist. “Aria…put….me….down.”
Aria dropped Robbie on his feet, making the teen yelp in pain. Without the aid of his cane, Robbie fell back.
“Aria, I *cough* feel bad about what happened between Aten and I. I was a pain in the butt and I shouldn't have been. I came out to tell Aten that I'm sorry. I was an ass….and I regret having that fight with him.”
“My brother doesn't deserve to be treated like a piece of shit by you! I'm telling you, Robert, I will not stand for it!”
Robbie struggled to his feet and looked Aria in the eye. “I never meant to hurt him. Can you help me find him? You can come and watch me make up with your brother. Aria, I love Aten more than anything.”
Aria crossed her arms. “I know where he is.”
“Where is he?! Tell me!”
“The Shadow Realm.”
Robbie gasped. “What is he doing there?”
Aria snarled. “He went with me and Yugi to the Shadow Realm to see Yami and…”
“Yami?!”
“He never came back. He walked off.”
Robbie grabbed Aria's shoulders with both hands using her to keep his balance. “Aria, please take me there! I have to find him! I love him and I don't want him to get hurt!”
The girl growled. “You better be telling me the truth! I will not have my brother hurt again!”
“I know, Aria. I never meant to hurt him. Please help me find him.”
The yami girl growled. “Fine. But if I ever hear of you mistreating Aten, I will not be so….pleasant.”
Robbie swallowed hard nervously as he hobbled behind her. `Aten, please be okay.'
He followed her home and she walked in the door.
Umi's jaw dropped. “Oh god! Aria!”
Malik and Umi saw Aria's bloody dress and both jumped out of their seats. “Aria! Aria, what happened?”
The blood stains were positioned on the bottom half of her dress, much to Malik's horror.
“Aria, did you lose the baby?”
Aria shook her head. “No. I gave someone what they deserved.”
Umi ran to hug her and saw her eyes black and red. He closed his eyes and hugged her. “Aria, did they hurt you?”
Aria shook her head. “No, they did not hurt me. They hurt my mother and Malik. Don't worry, Malik. They won't hurt you anymore.”
“What are you talking about?”
“I kicked their asses. If they ever so much as lay a hand on you, call me and I'll fuck them up even more.”
“Aria, who are you talking about?”
Aria narrowed her eyes. “Father and Father Marik.”
“WHAT?!” Malik gasped. “You beat them up?”
“They were lucky I didn't have my Nightmare Dragon devour them!”
“Why did you do it?”
Aria narrowed her eyes. “I saw Yami. Yami showed me the truth of what my father and what Marik are. They raped you and mother. They beat you. They hated you.”
Malik lowered his head and shuffled his feet uncomfortably. He nodded. “Yes, Aria, they both did.”
“How could you love them? How could you? I don't see how you can marry Father Marik after all the shit he put you through! All that pain!”
The Egyptian shuddered as memories flooded his mind. “I know, Aria. I am still angry at Marik
for what he did to me. It's taken me many years to see past all that.”
“That doesn't excuse him!”
“No, you're right. It's taking a lot of maturing and forgiveness on both of our parts.”
Aria snarled. “I refuse to forgive them! I will never forgive my father and Marik! They deserved every bit of pain Aten and I gave them!”
“Aten?! Where's Aten?”
“Aria said he's in the Shadow Realm,” Robbie said nervously. “And apparently, he just wandered off on his own.”
Malik grabbed Aria's shoulders. “Where is Bakura and Marik?”
“I left them in the Shadow Realm, too. The portal is in my room.”
“I'll meet you in a moment. I have to get Ryou! Umi, stay here with Kai.”
Malik ran up the stairs and found Ryou asleep on his bed. He grabbed Ryou's shoulder.
“Ryou, wake up! Ryou!”
“What is it?” Ryou yawned as he opened his eyes tiredly.
“Aria told me that Yami told her and Aten about our past abusive relationship with our yamis. Aria said she beat Marik and Bakura up and now Aten's lost in the Shadow Realm!”
Ryou yawned and turned over in bed.
“Ryou, didn't you hear me? I'll need help with Bakura and Marik.”
Ryou waved Marik away. “I'm laying down now. I don't feel well.”
“But, Ryou…!”
“Malik, I'm laying down now. I really don't feel like it.”
Malik gasped. “Bakura is hurt and you don't want to help?”
“Malik, I'm tired. I'll help you after my nap.”
Malik groaned and ran out of the room. `How could Ryou NOT want to help?'
Aria narrowed her eyes and walked through the portal. Malik shivered as he entered the cold Shadow Realm.
“MARIK!” Malik cried out as he ran to Marik sitting by Bakura's unconscious body, weeping.
Malik kneeled by his yami and hugged him. “What's wrong?”
“Aten………..”
“Marik, what happened to Aten? Did Aten return?”
Marik lowered his head and shook it. “My son hates me. Everything I've ever done was for him. My son…hates me.”
Robbie ran to Bakura and put his fingers on Bakura's neck. His heart beat weakly. “He needs a doctor.”
“Marik and Bakura don't have their Shadow Magic anymore. Yami took that away from them.”
Robbie pressed his ear to Bakura's chest. His heart is still beating. That's a good thing, isn't it?”
Malik stroked Bakura's cheek. “He's frozen. He's chilled to the bone. We have to get him into the house. And under some blankets. We'll have to get him gauze, too, and some bandages.”
Robbie looked around for Aten as he helped Bakura to his feet. “I'll help you get Bakura out of here, but I have to come back for Aten.”
Malik pulled Marik to his feet. “We will find him, Marik. Don't worry.”
“Aten….”
Yugi followed them through and watched as Malik and Robbie carried Bakura to Ryou's bedroom. Marik staggered into his room and closed the door quietly.
Ryou opened his eyes as he heard his daughter's growl in the room and felt Bakura being laid on the bed beside him.
“What the hell is this all about? I'm trying to get some rest!”
Yugi raised an eyebrow at Ryou's stern tone. Didn't he even care that his yami was laying beside him battered and bruised?
“Ryou, look at Bakura!”
Ryou sat up in bed. “What about him?”
Malik and Yugi's jaw dropped. “What do you mean by that?”
Ryou crossed his arms and looked up at his daughter. “What happened to Bakura?”
Aria growled. “I fucking kicked his ass for beating you up for all those years! You never told me that my father raped you!”
“Well, Aria, it's not like I would go and give you details about what happened.”
The yami girl crossed her arms defiantly. “I would do it again if I had the chance.”
Ryou stood up. “Well, Aria, he deserved it. Bakura deserved a beating for all those years that he tortured me!”
Robbie looked down at the unconscious yami. “I thought you loved Bakura.”
Ryou clenched his fists. “Who could love a demon like him? All of you ruined a perfectly good nap! I hope you can live with yourselves!”
Malik's eyes widened. “Ryou! That's beside the point!”
“No, it's not! I only wish I had the fucking balls to kick my yami's ass when I was younger.”
Yugi's jaw dropped in amazement. Ryou cursing?!
“Ryou, this is not like you,” the shorter duelist commented. “What's gotten into you?”
“Just nevermind!” Ryou growled as he stormed out of the room.
The group watched Ryou leave angrily.
“What crawled Ryou's butt and died?” Yugi asked.
Malik shrugged. “I don't know. Marik and I think Ryou's upset about Aria leaving home soon. She's moving out in a couple of months.”
“Oh….don't tell me Ryou's going to go through Empty Nest Syndrome.”
“I think it already started, Yugi. He's been really moody and he doesn't talk to anyone much anymore. He just kind of isolated himself. We try talking to him, but all he does is bitch at us and walk away.”
“Sure Ryou isn't going through menopause?” Yugi asked, trying to lighten things up.
“I highly doubt it.”
Robbie turned to Aria. “Can you help me find Aten? Malik and Yugi can take care of Bakura. I really have to find Aten before something happens to him!”
“You are still intent on apologizing to my brother?”
“I love your brother. I want to set things straight.”
Aria glared down at her father. “Fine. I'll let Malik and Yugi to clean up the garbage.”
“Aria, don't talk like that about your father!” Malik gasped as he unbuttoned Bakura's shirt.
“Why not? He is what he is! Garbage! The sooner I move away from him, the better! When I'm gone, I never want to see him ever again!”
Yugi watched Aria leave with Robbie. “I can't believe Aria would say such things!”
Malik opened Bakura's shirt. “Well, she just found out what kind of assholes these two were twenty years ago. You can't blame her for being angry for what our yamis did to us. Yugi, you know all about that.”
Yugi nodded. “I know, but I never thought she would ever say things like that.”
Malik bit his lip at the bruise on Bakura's stomach. “Ow….that looks like it hurts. Yugi, can you hold Bakura up while I remove the shirt?”
Malik pulled the yami into a sitting position and Yugi held him up. Malik removed Bakura's shirt and gasped. “Look at these bruises on his back! His lower back's all red and purple!”
Yugi pressed his hand to the abused skin and felt it was puffy. “He's swollen there, too.”
Ryou walked into the room with a hot cup of tea. “So how good did my daughter kick his ass?”
“Ryou, why are you like this? Don't you care about him?”
Bakura gave a moan and his eyelids fluttered.
“Yugi, go get me a cold cloth. Get one for yourself, too.”
Yugi ran into the bathroom to wet a couple of washcloths.
Malik brushed Bakura's hair behind his ears. “It's okay, Bakura. I'm here.”
“You should have just left him where you found him.”
“We couldn't just leave him in the Shadow Realm, Ryou.”
“Well, tell him to get his ass in the Ring.”
Malik shook his head. “It's painful for him when he gets into his soulroom. You know that. He could die.”
Ryou shrugged. “That's no less than what he actually deserves for putting me through six years of pain and torture.”
Bakura opened his eyes weakly. “A….Ar..Aria?”
“I'm not your kid,” Ryou said flatly.
Yugi ran into the bedroom and helped Bakura lay on his back. Yugi gave one cloth to Malik, who dabbed his face with the cold water.
Tiny whimpers of pain came from the yami. “It's okay, Bakura. We just want to get you rubbed down a bit before we put some bandages on you.”
Bakura's eyes floated around the room aimlessly as he tried to adjust to his surroundings. He saw Ryou standing at the foot of the bed and reached out to him.
“What?” Ryou asked sternly.
“Ryou….come here.”
“I prefer to stay here and enjoy watching you finally get what you deserve.”
Malik and Yugi turned to Ryou. “WHAT?!”
“It's true! Bakura deserved this! It was bound to happen one day, Bakura! I told you that one day your actions were going to turn around and bite you on the ass! Well, baby, it's long overdue! It's time he got his just desserts.”
“Ryou, I knew you are angry and hurt at what Bakura did. But I never heard you speak about him like this since before the ordeal with your father twenty years ago.”
“You can't sit here and tell me that Bakura didn't deserve it! I sure as hell wished Marik got a piece of his own medicine!”
Yugi looked at the closed Ishtar bedroom door. “I think he's hurting enough, Ryou.”
Ryou folded his arms. “Not enough for me. They both deserve it for what they've done.”
“Ryou, I know they did, but I thought you---.”
“Forgave? Forgotten? I can't. Not him. He's not deserving of it.”
Bakura whimpered and continued to reach for Ryou. “Ryou…please.”
Ryou sipped his tea and glared down at his yami. “You deserved this, Bakura Osiris Itemri! You deserve every single bruise on your body! I just feel bad that I didn't have the guts to do that too you those many years ago!”
Bakura's head fell back limp on the pillow. His arm fell limp against the comforter.
“Bakura, I'll be right back with bandages and some alcohol.”
Malik scurried out of the room.
“Ryou….I'm sorry,” Bakura moaned in pain. “I was an asshole.”
“Newsflash, yami….you still are! You will always be! You will always be the one who forced me to give myself to you! For that, there can be no mercy! Sorry.”
Ryou left the room as Malik entered, carrying the bandages and alcohol into the room.
Bakura reached up and covered his eyes with his hand. “I messed things up for Ryou and I. I regret hurting him…..and now he's going to hold it against me.”
“Bakura, Ryou's just….upset right now. He's got a lot on his mind.”
Bakura shook his head. “What can I do to help Ryou see that I still love him? That I am sorry for all of my transgressions?”
Yugi took a cotton swab and started to clean a cut on Bakura's stomach. “Bakura, Ryou's going through a lot right now. He doesn't mean it.”
The yami looked up at Malik with sad eyes. “Why do I get the feeling that he does?”
*******************************
Robbie's POV
Where could he be?
This place is huge!
Aria and I looked around the emptiness around us.
Please, God, let Aten be okay. I don't want anything to happen to him.
“ATEN!!!!!!!!” I called out loudly.
Please hear me, baby….
I clutched onto Aria tightly as we flew on her Nightmare Dragon. I shifted close to her back.
I'm afraid of heights…….I don't like to be anything higher than ten feet off of the ground.
We flew high above the ground. I could see many of the monsters I had in my deck. My Oni Tank rumbled over the ground.
I saw mermaids swimming in the big ocean of Umi. The Celtic Guardian and the Flame Swordsman were training for battle.
I saw the Blue Eyes White Dragon teaching a white baby dragon how to fly. The Red Eyes Black Dragon nuzzled the baby.
Aria narrowed her eyes. “We'll search the Badlands.”
“What's so bad about the Badlands?”
“Horrible monsters….violent monsters live here. They live on feeding off of other duel monsters. It's a very remote area and very large. If you get lost in it, legend says you can't find your way back home on foot.”
I looked around. “I hope Aten isn't lost here.”
Aria looked around. “If he is, I hope he's alive at all.”
I hard a hard time seeing through the thick purple fog of the Shadow Realm. This is my first time here that I can remember being here.
It's so hard to see through this darkness.
Aria gasped. “ATEN! Nightmare Dragon! Take us down there!”
The black dragon swooped down and lowered its head. Nearby I saw Aten laying face down on the ground. His head was turned to the side and he was laying on his stomach.
I ran to him and wrapped my arms around him. “Aten, please say something!”
I turned Aten around and held his upper body against me. “Aten, please open your eyes.”
Aria touched his neck and checked his pulse. “He is alive….but his heart rate is uneven.”
Cradling Aten in her arms carefully, she picked him up and held him. “My brother better not die.”
“He won't, Aria,” I said confidently. “I won't let anything happen to your brother.”
Aria turned and opened a portal back. “This will take you back to your house. You better not let my brother die.”
“I promise to take care of him, Aria. I promised to love him forever on our wedding day. I will fulfill my promise.”
She carried Aten through the portal and found it lead into our bedroom. Aria laid Aten's light body on the bed and kneeled beside him.
“Baby?” I whispered softly, stroking his cheek.
Aria narrowed her eyes and she walked out of the room.
Aten opened his eyes slowly and whimpered. His body shivered violently. “Id dinya bard.” (Arabic: I'm cold)
He's talking Arabic again. When Aten was feeling very bad, he had a harder time with English. I've heard him say that in the winter time outside, so I took a blanket and draped it over him. I made sure I tucked it under his body.
“There we go, Aten. Better?”
Aten smiled at me and I stroked his cheek.
“Aten, I'm so sorry. I never should have made you angry.”
“Ro….Robbie….”
I crawled beside Aten and draped my arm around him. “I'll keep you warm, Aten.”
My Aten turned his head and pressed his forehead against mine. “I love you,” he whispered in broken English.
His thin, weak arm raised to touch my arm.
We closed our eyes. “I love you, too, Aten.”
*******************************
Marik sat on his bed looking down at the carpet. His head hung low.
Malik kneeled between his legs and tilted Marik's face up to look into his eyes. The yami's eyes were full of tears and had looked empty.
Malik looked at his yami with sympathy. Marik looked broken. Crushed.
“Aten didn't mean it,” Malik said, stroking Marik's cheek.
Marik turned his head to the side. “He did. Every word of it. And I deserve everything, too. I do deserve worse than this.”
“Marik, what's done is done. Aten was in shock. He just saw the father he loved acting no better than what his grandfather did. Of course he's going to get angry.”
The blond yami narrowed his eyes. “I didn't mean to.”
“No, of course not, yami.”
Malik kissed Marik's lips gently, letting his yami control the kiss.
The yami whimpered into the kiss and held Malik close to him.
A moment later, the yami pulled back and stared his husband in the eye. “Malik…..I need…..I need you.”
